As long as you make more then the poverty guidelines, you do not need a sponser at all.

I agree with this post.

I didn't experience too many problems with this whole process and, in my case, I felt it moved along quite rapidly. But, I have seen the horror stories of many and I feel for all of them who have different experiences.

I wish you well on this and on your journey.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 Petitioner & Bankruptcy

My fiance and I are about a week away from filing our K-1 (finally!) and I find myself in a position now (being the petitioner) where bankruptcy is looking like the most viable option, will this effect our K-1 request?

I assumed the request only looks at income (I am employed full-time with a salary that exceeds the specified support limits) as documented in the Affidavit of Support, but I don't want to take any action that is going to preclude or delay our K-1.

Thank you for your help.

Becky-

I PM'd you, Becky.

Yep. You have to be free to marry so the divorce has to be final before you can file K-1.

My divorce was long and drawn out. I met Andre before it was finalized. I actually filed the K-1 just two months after my divorce was final. No issues.

To relieve the stress and not put any undo pressure on me, I played it by ear and flew by the seat of my pants. We waited until Andre had his visa in hand and then planned from there by buying the plane tickets and then planning the actual wedding.

I've seen it work for some on here to pre-plan and others, I have seen fail miserably because of their timelines.

I wish you luck in whatever way you end up going. I hope it all works out.

Nope. They can travel all on their own.

I only went down to get my husband cause he had never been on a plane or navigated customs and immigration. I was a pro so I figured I'd make it easier on him.

Plenty come all on their own.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134-Two Jobs?
QUOTE (Meg and Grae @ Oct 10 2007, 08:54 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello everyone,
I'm not making enough money to bring my fiance on my own, I will need to use my mother as my co-sponsor. But at this time I am looking for a second job. I figure every little bit helps, especially with all the fees and planning a wedding. I was looking at the I-134 and there is only space enough for one job. I'm wondering if anyone has filed it while working two jobs and if so, how do you fit it on the page? Or do you add a supplement? I'd be combining both of my job's incomes so I'm assuming I wouldn't need two forms. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I had (still have) two jobs. I filled out my primary on the lines and added an asterick. Also added that asterick by my totals. In the nearest open space, I wrote my second job, stated it was part-time, and added that number as well. Then, when I included the letter from my main job, I added my part-time job letter after. Had no issues.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAddress Question
I was in the process of selling my house too and was unsure where we were going to end up when we moved. I used my cousin's address. We ended up living with her for 2 months and then moving into an apartment next door to her. I continue to use her address as my mailing address. When asked, I just said that we were in transition and I didn't want to confuse anything. Now, I use her address as our mailing address and our address as our place of residence. It's worked out wonderfully well.

QUOTE (noll @ Oct 19 2007, 12:50 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Dear Readers,
I am trying to find people who have been denied fiancé visas due to insufficient communication exchange. My biggest concern is frequency of communication exchange from my girl and more specifically, e-mail (or lack thereof).

Have you, or do you know someone, who has been denied issuance of the fiancé visa due to insufficient number of e-mail responses from your girl?

Does anyone know how heavily the reviewer’s look at frequency of e-mail exchanges or communication in general?

If everything else in the application is “perfect” except there are very few e-mail responses (one every 5 or 6 weeks), will they deny the visa? Has this happened to anyone?

Thank you.
Noll

We didn't have one single e-mail. But, the rest of the evidence far outweighed that fact.

Phone calls, letters, cards, and visits.

Ok, SO we put in 'N/A' instead of 'None' for the "Husband or Wife Name" on the G-325A that accompanied out i-129F and might/probably will get refused on that basis ... it happens. So, is there anything we can do now or just sit tight and wait for the USCIS to get back to us? Or can we send an amended copy of the necessary papers and pre-empt them?

We'd hate to have to wait 6 months to find out we've been refused because of one error ... we have a wedding to go to on Oct 11th, 2008!!!

It's over to you guys!

QUOTE (undeadmike @ Oct 26 2007, 01:13 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi everybody!

I was looking through all the stuff for the AOS process. At the moment, we filed the K1, got the NOA1 and are waiting for NOA2. Since I wanted to know what is coming up later I looked at the stuff for the I-485 form. I understand that the filing fee for the I-485 is $1010 including the biometric fee.

Now I am confused what the form "I-485 Supplement A" is for. In the description it says "file along with your I-485" and that the fee is $1000 on top of the $1010 for the I-485.

Does that mean the AOS filing is §2010???

What exactly is the supplement A form for?

Thanks in advance!

undeadmike

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBirth Records for Mother and Father
When we filed out Andre's, we knew his father's first and last name only; but not where he was born, nor his date of birth, and we wrote we thought he died in 2003. No one is sure of any of that. Didn't make a bit of difference on the things we left blank. His birth certificate didn't even include his father's name.

I have learned most embassy's are used to this kind of thing and are not as ####### as we tend to be.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI NEED ADVICE!!!!
Personally, I think it is a bad idea. My reasoning is this........while you are gone, you will burn through some of your savings and possibly assets. This could be considerable depending on how much time you spend out of the U.S. and how long the process actually takes for you. And, in order to file the I-134, you will then have to have a sponsor. Add to that, the fact that you will have to come back either without her to re-establish yourself in the job market or with her and both of you will be out of jobs.

Having gone through this journey myself, I know how expensive it can be. I cannot imagine what kind of financial hole we would be in if I had up and quit my job just to be with my fiance. It was tough enough as it was.

If your salary meets the 125% poverty guidelines, you don't even need to prove anything else.
