QUOTE (Forbes2006 @ Jan 12 2008, 03:01 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
HELLO ALL,

DID THE NVC RECEIVE YOUR CASE THIS MONTH? FROM THE PREVIOUS TIMELINES IT LOOKS LIKE 3 TO 4 MONTHS TO GET COMPLETED. DOES ANYONE HAVE JAN OR FEB 2008 INTERVIEW SCHEDULED IN JAMAICA?

I AM LOOKING FOR INFORMATION ON YOUR JOURNEY FROM WHEN THE NVC RECEIVED YOUR CASE.

DID THE NVC CENTER SCHEDULE YOUR INTERVIEW?

DO YOU HAVE ANY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE PROCESS?

THANKS

My advice is to relax. It is a long, frustrating process and there is little you can do but go with it.

Good luck on your journey.

The I-134 goes with you to the embassy.

Please post your timeline, the country you are petitioning for, and the visa you are applying for (which I am guessing is the K-1 from posted info). This information will help us help you.

Good luck to you.

Be patient. I think you would have a very, very hard time getting a refund from them.

What's the point anyhow? If they received it, they received it. Payment at this point would not make a bit of difference.

i have the same situation, i got the REF for i-864, the operator were able to tell me whats was missing, so i just send them on Friday, and hoping to get my case complete at the end of this week so i can get the interview in July,

its really upsetting, i m really Stressing out.

some ppl are so lucky that they get their case complete in 3 days without any REF

cant wait to hear the 2 sweet words " CASE COMPLETE"

May i ask why you got an RFE for the I-864...

well i didn't add my bank statement

and i make sure that they only need bank statement so i talk to 3 ppl to make sure

does any one know if the REF shout cut works, because i used that

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresBirth Certificate missing name

Hello all,
I have gotten approval of I129f in the mail and am just getting prepared for the packet 3 to be sent to my wife.
I discovered that my wife's birth certificate doesn't have her name specified so I looked up the faq on USCIS site and found the following:

Each applicant must submit an original and a clear photocopy of his/her birth certificate. The certificate should include the applicant’s name, date & place of birth, the names of both parents, an annotation by the issuing office indicating that it is an extract from its official records, and the seal of the issuing office, i.e. the municipal authorities or the village authorities (gram panchayat or talati-cum-mantri). The certificate must be in the original, official language of the state in which you were born.

Unobtainable or incomplete birth certificates

If your birth was not recorded, please submit a “no record of birth registration” letter from the relevant municipality or village authorities along with secondary evidence (see below). If your birth record has been destroyed or the municipality or village authorities will not issue one, submit a letter from the municipality or village authorities stating so along with secondary evidence of birth. If your name is not mentioned in the birth certificate, submit the certificate along with secondary evidence. If any details are missing in the birth certificate or if there is a discrepancy regarding your date of birth or name, submit the certificate along with secondary evidence. If your birth was registered more than three years after you were born, you must submit the certificate along with a magistrate’s order concerning the late registration.

Acceptable secondary evidence of birth

Following are examples of secondary evidence of birth (which should also include your name, date and place of birth; names of both parents; and the seal of the issuing office): a baptismal certificate, an adoption decree, a school record, a notarized affidavit from a close relative (a parent, a close relative, a neighbor or friend who was present at the time of your birth) on the appropriate stamp paper which must be sworn before a First Class Magistrate. The person making this affidavit must state how he/she knows your family and how he/she knows the facts of your birth.
----
I have a question as to the part that says: "a notarized affidavit from a close relative (a parent, a close relative, a neighbor or friend who was present at the time of your birth) on the appropriate stamp paper which must be sworn before a First Class Magistrate. The person making this affidavit must state how he/she knows your family and how he/she knows the facts of your birth.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresdoes INS check for previous marriages?

Hello everyone!!

I'm new to this forum and thank you in advance for offering your advice! My husband and I are at our wits' end! :help: :help:

Here's out situation. Basically, we are curious to know whether INS checks for previous marriages.

I am an American citizen and my husband is from the United Kingdom. We got married last month! We are now in the process of filing out his visa application. The only problem is that he was previously married, 15 years ago. He did it when he was 19 and met an American girl while he was on vacation here, who wanted a British passport, so he married her. They dated for a few months and then broke up. Eventually, they lost contact. A couple of years ago, he got a unilateral divorce in Haiti. We didn't list this previous marriage/divorce in our marriage license application because we know the U.S. government doesn't recognize unilateral divorces. We now face the same problem with our INS application, since it asks about previous marriages and requires proof of a divorce of all previous marriages.

So, we are tempted to just not list it BUT... will INS do a check, across U.S. state records, using his British passport number, to see if he's ever been married??

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!!

For Andre's visa, I had to send along my divorce decree with the I-129F. He had to get a non-impediment to marriage form in Jamaica showing he wasn't married and was free to marry me. Had he been divorced, it would have come up then.

So, I am saying, yes. You better show it and prove they are divorced or you will have problems somewhere along the way.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPlease help!!!!! we've tried everything!!!

Hi. I'm new to this site and I'm praying that someone can help me. My wife and I have been married for 5 years and we have two beautiful daughters. We have not had much success with processing her immigration. She is a citizen of Liberia and has been in the US since 1989 (18 years, she was 10). I am a US citizen (born and raised). She was sent her to visit but, stayed and went to school. She never went back to Liberia because of the fighting and of course marriage and motherhood. She has worked and had a permit to work. Fairly simple scenario right?.......wrong.

Here's where our problem lies is......all the information that proves when she entered the US in 1989 has been destroyed by fire. We have nothing but her birth certificate and SSN that was giving to her so she could work. Because there's no proof, INS has been giving us all kinds of problems. Can someone help us? I'm afraid she will get deported.

I think in this case I would immediately find a good immigration lawyer. You don't want to mess with this nor let any of never in this situation give you advice.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAddress change question

I have already filed for I-130 and I-129F for my wife and received NOA1 for both. I am planning to move and call/notify USCIS of my address change. How does this affect my case? Will the processing get delayed?

When your petition is at a service center you should call the NCSC toll-free number 1800 375 5283 to report a change of address. Just ensure that they indeed do change it. If there is delays in them updating it in the system it can cause delays if say eg they send out a RFE to the old address. The best advice is if possible to arrange for redirection of mail. Do they do that there? If not, I would also email your service center with the change of address details but also check back with them via the above phone number to ensure that indeed the change of address has been updated.

Thanks KHURRAM SERAJ.
By mail redirection, are you referring to mail-forwarding? If so, then I don't think USPS forwards USCIS mails.

Also can you tell me what is the email address for the service centers?

They do not redirect USCIS mail. I changed mine via the change of address form while AOS pending. We had no issues.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresGet Married Again?
You can only "officially" marry one time. If you married in S. Africa, you cannot marry again in the US and, thus, cannot receive a CA marriage certificate. You could have an unofficial ceremony of any kind you like, reaffirming vows or whatever you want to call it.

Africa: Sub-SaharanTRANSPARENCY
Hello,
I seldom reply to postings on this forum but yours touched me and I am inclined to add my two cents. First of all, I commend you for putting your "business" out there and trusting that the same intent will be relayed by others. I am not an expert by any stretch of the imagination but I have been married once, and I am a Ghanaian who was born and bred overseas, have a several stubborn brothers and spend a lot of time back home with my other male relatives and friends, so I somewhat see both sides.
My suggestion is to take a step back and take a deep breath. I suspect that your husband expected to be doing better financially now than he is doing currently, therefore going "public" (from his perspective) to share his financial circumstance is somewhat not an option. It is akin to telling the world about his masculinity or lack thereof. A typical African male's financial status is one of the most important things to him so please tread lightly.
I suspect if this were happening to someone else, you would know exactly how to get through to them, but since you are too close to the scene you are attacking it as a battle. You know him and know how to get through to him. Try a different angle and please feel free to PM me. Good Luck and Best Wishes.

Africa: Sub-SaharanFiling K1 for someone in your country of birth
Thanks for all the suggestions, especially the postcard and personal letters. I have passport stamps, boarding pass, etc. for all my visits home but my question was, how can I prove that I was there to see him and not my family. He is in almost every picture with me when I visit home, except for the pictures that he takes of me and others.

Africa: Sub-SaharanFiling K1 for someone in your country of birth

If you have an upcoming visit planned, go ahead and read through the RFE threads to see what people here have specifically been asked to provide and get those items together. Boarding passes, ATM receipts, I visited a Dr when overseas and used the receipt for that as a piece of evidence, photos with other people, affidavits written in English, tickets for travel/tours together--especially good if issued to you specifically (a train trip to a nearby touristy site, for example, or an overhead plane tour of the city), If he lives close enough to the border for you to cross together--go for a visit on the other side so that you have passport stamps together on the same day at the same time, etc.

There are lots of examples here on this site so that your originally submitted packet can be as perfect as possible.

It is awesome to have someone that you cherish. Proving that to people who are always looking for scammers is another story and requires some effort.

I also suggest that you start writing to each other--especially you to him. Post cards, romantic cards, and letters that are ongoing can be examples of an ongoing relationship when he goes for his interview. One of the cards I had sent my now-husband was taken from his notebook of evidence examples. Besides, it is always very sweet to hold something that your beloved touched. For 1.05U$ in postage, it is a great bargain.

Edit:
Someone I know took pictures with his fiance at the movie theatre in front of some of the movie posters. This clearly indicates when the photo happened! I, personally, thought it was genius. (I know--photos are secondary evidence. But it's so easy to have good ones.)

Hey Tosh Love,

You have nothing to worry about. If you are a believer, just keep praying and all will go well. Honestly, I read lots of the reviews and I rarely saw any denials. Just overload them with plenty of evidence and PRAY PRAY PRAY and all will go well with you on your approval. What you heard about Ghana not getting many approvals is false because so far haven't read about anyone that has been denied. So keep the faith God is in control. :innocent:

Africa: Sub-SaharanSurvey of K1 approvals

Hi,

I'm not sure if one is better than the other to be honest. They can delay marriage for EXTREMEly long periods of time. Fraud is fraud NO matter if it's K1 or CR-1. It seems to me they actively look for it NO matter what process you select. I decided on K1 because I want my family to meet Edward prior to marriage. I have been to Ghana 6 times since we met back in April 2011 and my 10yr old joined my during one visit as well. However, my family has never met my fiance' and that's important to me.

It seems as if ALL K1 visas have been approved at the Accra Embassy thus far. If you check the departement of state website, there's a DETAILED list of EVERY document you must present to the officer at the time of the interview. Also, I was EXTREMEly proactive and I emailed the embassy in Ghana asking for specifics so that we can prepare. I was directed to the department of state website for documents required for the K1 interview. Not sure how ANYbody is denied when the information given BY the Accra Embassy is to follow the directives issued by the U.S. government on their website. I can answer your survey question in 48hrs. Our interview date is Thu 1/31.

Good luck....whatever you decide.

How refreshing when someone answers a question with some compassion and care.
Thank you so much and best of luck to you!

Someone posted today that K1 visas gets denied often in Ghana due to high fraud and I am debating getting married during my next visit and changing to CR1. I truly don't want to wait longer than my estimated 12 month wait but I don't think I can take a denial. I have seen him 3 times since engagement and probably twice more by interview but I don't know if that will suffice.

Africa: Sub-SaharanNeed your advice please

N:B Everything i am going to say is my opinion

First,i will say it is sad and i am sorry you are in such dilemma but then just so you know,i am a man and i will speak to you as one,at 'least of my kind', as much as you are in a relationship ,you have equal right to be happy, immature people are not allowed in marriages or relationship heading towards that direction, relationship is meant for Adults and for people who have the mind of their own and are willing to let go whatever they have to let go to have whom they truly love.I will want to think you are probably older than him and yes you are so much in love with him and scared to loose him cos starting all over again is unthinkable right now maybe.
Sorry about my epistle but let me say that, this man has shown signs of withdrawal and it is very glaring, and it is either he has the documents or not but if you are sure he truly have this documents but has refused to put together to send then the signs are written all over this,we all get 24hrs in a day,i hate to hear it when people say they are busy about things that is majorly about their life, irritating, what kind of job takes 24/7 x 31 days in a month,i do not agree with any excuse, even if you can't leave your duty post, there will be a friend or someone you can always send on errand to go post it,this things are not hard, why are men like this? Stop breaking this beautiful people's heart, stop getting committed if you not ready.
I believe you see everything better than everyone here and your spirit will already be telling you the next step to take, don't struggle cos you are in love,God didn't plan any relationship to be hell,we humans create the hell in it,we make everything hard for ourselves.

Age is just numbers and if in this case you are older, please exhibit your maturity here and be wise.

Pray.Listen to God.Think it through. Strategize. Act.Be Happy.Life is too short to wait forever for a document.

It is the divinely designed for the man to do the 'Chasing' ,a true loving man,not by mere words, will go after his woman and do everything to wake up to her every morning.

You see it all better than all of us here.
