K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiance Married before
Well, since you aren't really able to apply without both of you being free to do so, it will most likely mean denial, divorce, and starting all over again.

There are ways to divorce when you can't find the other person. I am not qualified to tell you how to do that, though. I would suggest an attorney.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI need your input and advice on my life's plan for ultimately receiving a K-1 visa.
I know it seems like you have to file now. But, I agree....finish school, get established, and then file. In the long run, it will cut down on a lot of problems. This process is so stressful. Add financial difficulties from the beginning and it's might be more then you can take.

Keep the faith. Good luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 issues...is K3 quicker?? lawyers advise.....
I'm not sure as far as your country goes. I do know in Jamaica the K-1's are averaging around 6 months. The CR-1's are going over a year now to process.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresA bit Overwhelmed
In Jamaica, K-1's are about 7 months quicker then the K-3.

I think I would go into the forums that contain Norway and ask there. Someone may be able to guide you a little better.

The wait is all relative. There is nothing quick about this process.

Good luck to you.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresOverdoing Evidence
I personally don't think you can have too much evidence at the interview. I say wow them with it all and they can pick and choose if they want to see it or not. Andre had 2 scrapbooks full of pictures. The man chose to look at a few pages.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNo hotel receipts
It's not as difficult as it looks.

What I suggest is for you to ask this very question in the regional forum under the Philipines. They can tell you so much better then us exactly what you will need and how they have seen it go. Read all the threads you can stand on the process through that consulate or embassy. You will see the good, the bad, and the ugly. You should also get some hope.

I understand what you are saying. However, I've been on these boards for a long time now and I've seen a lot of people go through this process. I've heard a lot of horror stories and a majority of them have an immigration attorney filing their petition as the central point. Read and you will see.

Whatever makes you feel comfortable is exactly what you should do, though. I do suggest hanging on these boards even if you do use a lawyer. You will need to stay on the case to keep them on their toes. We can help with that as well. And we are all good at lending an ear or a shoulder if you need one.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNo hotel receipts
I agree. This site is filled with information that will be useful to you. And, you will find members who have gone through the exact same consulate as you will. They will offer invaluable support and information. A lawyer will only cost you money and usually more time then is needed. And, in the end, will do exactly what we all have done ourselves.

Unless yours is some extreme case involving something illegal you must fix along the way, you can do it all yourself and control your own process so much better.

Not at all. You will have passport stamps for sure. Plane tickets or other receipts work too. Pictures are a plus too.

No explanation will be needed on the hotel receipts part. I used to stay with Andre too.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresdidn't to make a copy
Do you have one copy? You need one copy.

I made 2 copies....one for me and one for my fiance. The extra was a safeguard and for him to sort of study so he knew exactly what I sent in should any questions arise.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhy not use moneygram reciepts for evidence??
Ours was for visa-related stuff. Not like I was paying the rent or utlities or anything.

I guess I could see if you were talking about monthly payments or something like that, it could look like that.

I guess I should've said it was money transfers both ways and I did produce copies of him sending to me as well.

I didn't send originals of anything that I can recall as far as everything but the required forms.

I thought you signed something somewhere saying a copy of the original signature was as good as the original. I might be getting that confused with some advanced directive or something though.

Oh, you naughty girl.

I knew mine over a year before I filed for him.

But, yes, the regulations state you must have been face to face with him within the last 2 years when you file. You fit that regulation.

Just write it exactly as you would if you mailed her a letter.

Every country is different. They don't sweat that.

In Jamaica, they don't have any street addresses. No issues for us.

Supposedly there are 4 copies of the form because each one goes to a different location during the process (look at the bottom of the each page, they each have a different designation), so it would follow that you should print 4 copies of your added information and attach each to one copy of the form.

Yes. I agree.

It would be interesting to see if he told his fiance. I note that he posted this in May 08 and said her interview was coming up shortly. I looked on their timeline, and it said the interview was October 2? that's a long wait from the March approval date. Maybe something happened?

That fact for the US citizen makes no difference whatsoever. They NEVER ask that on any forms or at the embassy. Now, if you had those charges, that would be a different story.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDoes age matter...?
QUOTE (SenoritaTeresita @ Aug 17 2008, 09:27 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi everyone,

My boy friend in California just filed an I129F petition and now he's concerned if the USCIS or the American Embassy in Manila will frown on the petition because he is now into his 60s. Right now he has a respectable job as a white collar professional but what bugs him is that he'll be retiring pretty soon. Do you think that because he will be on fixed retirement income soon, will the immigration gods be unkind to him, albeit he has lots of pension funds, for working in the U.S. for almort 35 years, in IRAs, 457k and deferred compensation plans in addition to his then monthly SSA benefits and pension from his current employer. Furthermore, the preponderance of the distributions from the pension plans will be used to purchase a single premium immediate annuity to enhance his monthly income. Likewise, he currently has a 200% equity on his home.

The other story is that my fiance is a widower and was married to my older sister for so many years before she passed away recently. He loves me and I love him and we want to be together forever. Again, will the USCIS or the American Embassy put a stopper to our journey just because I'm marrying ex- brother-in-law? helpsmilie.gif helpsmilie.gif helpsmilie.gif

Is this the second time you have posted this question recently? Only last time, it was "a friend of mine" type scenario? I know I just heard the same thing. You have 2 kids?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPOEs?
The port of entry is the FIRST airport you step into after receiving the visa and leaving your home country. It could be your connecting flight. It could be your final destination.

How many airports are there in the US that have flights from your country? That answer will be how many POE's there are in the US at your disposal.

My husband came through Miami.

QUOTE (SnowyTater @ Mar 29 2008, 10:22 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I was actually wondering that the other day myself...

Maybe everywhere's a port of entry. Would love to see 'the official immigration' dude's look of surprise at having to actually do something if my SO flew into our tiny tiny hometown airport...

If your tiny tiny hometown airport has a direct flight from a foreign country, it is a POE and has seen and processed before.

Spank him severely and tell him never to do this again. Then hope nothing comes of it. It's unlikely anything will.
