Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionAre Tax returns necessary as an evidence?
I agree.....send last year's tax return and a copy of the extension for this year's. If you owed, send in a copy of the check used to pay with the extension.

I think you will get a RFE if you don't.

We are going to be sending our package in a few weeks. I have been reading that the TSC cases are being transfered to VSC. Do I still send to TSC or go directly to VSC?

Thanks biggrin.gif

This link was on another thread regarding where to send your I-751. Looks like all applications go either to VSC or CSC.

Yes. No more TSC mailing.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionWhat comes after I-751?
You can apply for citizenship 90 days before your 3 year anniversary as a LPR.

Otherwise, 90 days before your 10 year green card expires, you would file again for the rest of your life.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionLifting the conditions
I'd say you are pretty safe. They will approve your 10 year green card if the proof is there. All you have to do then is wait for the 5 year mark and apply all on your own.

Sorry and good luck to you.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionRequest for evidence.
We are in the EXACT same situation. We sold my house back in July of 2006 and lived with my cousin rent free for 2 weeks. Then, we moved into our current apartment, next door, and have lived there for almost 2 years now. We had used her address for our AOS and we have just continued to use it for the last 2 years now. We also rent month to month and do not have a lease.

What I plan on doing for LOC in August is to:

Get a letter from our landlord stating we rent (our apartment address) from him and include copies of one rent check each quarter as proof.

Write my own letter stating exactly what we did.....why our billing address on EVERYTHING is my cousin's address. And that we just walk next door every day to get our mail.

Show proof of this with utility bills which have the BILLING address and the SERVICE address on them.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionRe-applying after 10 year GC expires
I've searched and searched and can't find the answer to this question. Anyone?

What do you need to do to re-apply for the green card every 10 years? Does anyone know? Or have a link?

Here's my ####### reason why I am asking....I am preparing to file for LOC on August 2nd. And, I'm organizing and binding all the paperwork I've saved over the last 2 years and I need to send in as proof for this. So, my mind is floating on to the next time we have to do this. And, I'm wondering if I have to save the next 10 year's worth of paperwork proof until then? If so, I am going to need to have an entire room dedicated to this mess.

I'm hoping hubby will just naturalize before then and stop the madness!

Canadachecklist questions k-1

To both of the the above - THIS IS MONTREAL.   This means ONLINE FORMS.  Montreal does not accept paperforms.  The K1 must complete online forms DS-160 and DS-260 if in Montreal or another online forms consulate.

Please note the location of this thread - Canada forum. smile.png  Thanks for trying to help though.

This is best asked in your own thread, in the K1 forum where it will be seen.  This particular thread is in the Canada forum.

Yes.

I-864 is for when the beneficiary adjusts status after the wedding. smile.png

If you're going through Montreal please follow the thread at the top of the page in the Canada forum.  Montreal requires online forms.  DS-160 and DS-260

The DS-156 is also an online form but is for everyone, it is printed out by hand and sent.

NikkiR if you read my response you would have noticed that I said the form was ONLINE and gave the OP the link to Travel.State.gov which I do not think is exclusive to Ghana, Bangladesh or Timbuktu. It is the US online site which specifically tells you what is needed for the the Montreal Embassy. But if it makes you feel better to show how smarter you are than the rest then so be it.

CanadaWedding day today!

Jomo got his welcome letter the day before he got his green card in the mail.

Congrats to you two! I remember the excitement of making it official. Enjoy!

CanadaPassport expires April 2008....
I thought the requirement was that it not expire for 6 months.

Regardless, I would do it now. Jomo's expires in 2009 and I am already making a mental not for him to renew when we go back to avoid any gap between that passport and getting a US one when he becomes a citizen.

CanadaWedding Photos

A week before our wedding we had the air conditioner on for two days. The morning of our outside wedding on the 7th of April however, it was -18. That didn't daunt us however. The warmth from our hearts and smiles kept us beaming. I think the guests were a little cold though! All the flowers we put out that morning, were almost dead by the 11 am ceremony!

We commissioned a few friends to take pictures, but we haven't got them all yet.

The few we can share immediately though are in the Gallery, under Wedding Pictures if you'd like to see them.

Especially nice for me............I live in St. Louis............Know Lafayette Park and it's setting. Really nice pictures. Congratulations!

Funny about the temp reference. Crazy weather lately, huh?

CanadaDo you have to take Fiance or mother-in-law to interview?
Andre went alone. He was much calmer without me. There's no need for the fiance to go along....after filing all the darn paperwork, they should be able to figure out you are serious about wanting that person to get a visa. Taking along someone else is for your own support only.

Michael Moore is out to make money. You don't see him sharing it with anyone. He doesn't do anything to make the country better. He just likes to report the worse case scenario and scare people. Actually, I've noticed that he doesn't have any proof for a lot of the things he's speculating on. We definitely need to make some big changes. I don't like the health care system either but it is overburdened and taking care of people who have never paid into the system. When a few people put in and everyone takes out it's gonna be crappy.

Have you even seen the movie Geraghty? If you had, you would know that Michael payed the health care costs anonymously of his most vocal dissident who has a website about him. He also contributes to MANY charities. His movie was basically about a very corrupt HMO political fiasco that is called health care here in the US. One of the biggest changes that could come about is attitudes and beliefs!! Espeically one from the "ME" to the "WE"!!!

"...but it is overburdened and taking care of people who have never paid into the system..."

The above is exactly the attitude to which I speak....What happened to caring for our fellow man? What happened with taking care of people when they're down? These are PEOPLE for gosh sakes. I don't care who paid what when!

Health care should be universal. It is not only in Canada, but in Great Britian and France to name a few. I would suggest that if BILLIONS weren't spent on military expenses, and money being THROWN to "friends" in the pharmaceutical industry, there would be plenty of money around to offer universal health care in the US.
Just MHO.

Yah, well, Twinkies have a shelf life of like 20 years and I still eat them. Sometimes I just can't help myself.

Moore may embellish on the truth just a bit......I think any movie that makes me sit and think about it's message for a long time after, is well worth my time. One that makes me do something about what I saw, is a gem.

I have not eaten McDonald's since seeing "Supersize Me." Never EVER will again.

CanadaI thought I was going to melt.

tee hee... I am a heat girl all the way, but I do love the snow and esp. a good storm.. CT didn't exactly have a "storm" this past winter.. not what I'd call a "storm".. anywhoo.. it's all good..

I am a sucker for our AC when the humidity gets high.. that's the bit I don't like.. I'm a 4 season kinda gal.. I think moving south would depress me :(

I didn't realize how much I really liked winter until last year. It was Andre's first "winter" as he is from Jamaica. He was giddy in the snow and ice. I have about a zillion pictures of his snow angels, Jamaican snowman, sledding down huge hills, etc.

It was a nice change. Usually I just crab about shoveling and driving on ice.
*JG*FemaleJamaica2007-08-14 08:32:00
CanadaI thought I was going to melt.

I guess I'm in the minority because I love the heat. But, then, I'm naturally cold all the time. My friends and relatives have always teased me about it. The one thing I do hate, though, is AC that is turned down way too low (or is it turned up way too high? ). I carry a sweater with me all the time when it's hot, because I know I'm going to need it when I go inside.

I had to laugh at the place I used to work in Canada. I hadn't told anyone that I was engaged and would be leaving.... let alone moving to Florida. I'd be sitting there shivering in my sweater, with my portable heater on and a cup of something hot at my desk. My co-workers used to say.... "You need to move to Florida." :o  I'm so glad my husband was transferred to somewhere warm. :)

I like warm weather....my husband is from Jamaica for goodness sake. Up to 90's are beautiful. But, this has been like living in HELL lately.
*JG*FemaleJamaica2007-08-14 08:06:00
CanadaI thought I was going to melt.
I talked to my friends in Canada over the weekend and they were talking about wearing socks to bed. I'm so jealous.

We've been near or over 100 for weeks now with the heat index at dangerous levels. People have died here recently from it.

I will never be so happy to see fall and winter!

CanadaAdvice on Choosing a Wedding Date
I agree with that advice completely. Reason being.....something that happened very recently....a friend of ours got his visa approval on August 14th. Should've had the visa in hand by the 17th or 20th. Hurricane Dean paid a little visit to Jamaica and now no one is sure where that visa even is at this point.

And, others who had impending interviews are now postponed indefinately.

You just never know what kind of freak things can happen along the way.

If it can be a tentative thing, I'd go with the later date. If it has to be set in stone, WAIT.
*JG*FemaleJamaica2007-08-22 13:26:00
Canadaone year later
I just made a scrapbook of the Journey of FutureMrs and Marlon to celebrate their visa approval. In it, I put a card and on that card, I wrote something that effect.....that in a year's time, she will barely remember all the ups and downs of waiting out the visa process. Given just a little time, the time just flies and all this will just be a distant memory.

Andre's been here over a year now and I'd be the first to say the process itself now feels like it was some sort of dream.
