Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionAm I in trouble?
Call your State Farm agent and have them add them to the card. I did that and they sent me a temporary card within days, the permanent one in about 2 weeks.

Have your family write a letter or some kind of a lease and have it notarized. We do not hold a formal lease from our landlord; but are planning on doing the same thing.

Rustle up some mail (Christmas cards), junk mail, etc. with both your names on it too.

Is she on your life insurance policy as beneficiary? If not, do that and get a copy.

Did you fill out an Advanced Directive in healthcare decisions should you become incapacitated and unable to make your own decisions? If not, you can both do that, naming the other. You can find them on the internet, at the library, office supply stores.....just have them notarized.

I think I would add her to your bank account(s) if I were you.

Keep that notice handy. You need it to prove legal residence for that year.

Looks to me like the norm is between 9 and 12 months.

We are applying to remove condistions in August, so this topic is always at the top of my list.

The first thing I would do a police search on his name at your local courthouse. Depending on what that actually shows is what you will have to explain. And, yes, if it shows anything, you will have to explain it.

I would think, though, that the fact that you have undergone counseling and are still together is a good indicator. You will just have to probably write something up and explain it with your filing.

No explanation is necessary.

Yet, if it shows up on a police record, she will have to write that on the removing of conditions forms.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionWorried about removing condition application
QUOTE (Colada @ Dec 7 2007, 01:49 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Looking at how many people's conditions on residency got removed without interview got me worried. I had my biometric appt on Sept 18th and USCIS hasn't touched it since then. My case is still within the 6 months processing time, however, I can't help but worry.

We didn't have an interview.

It took them 4 months to get to it. And, that was way back in mid-2006 when the pre-increase rush had not happened.

Hang in there.

Isn't it almost like a dream? After all the hassles and paperwork, I almost felt like something was wrong during biometrics and AOS approval without an interview, cause it was just too easy.

I think they are requiring all that because not enough evidence was originally sent in.

We lift conditions later this year and I'm only sending in one bank statement per quarter, plus a whole lot of other things.

I would at least date the pictures. I am a scrapbooker so what I did was scrap the pages and then color copy them. My journalizing has names, dates, and places noted. I figure you can never give too much information.

I wouldn't worry about the mail. The postmark and your address on it should be enough.

I think the Christmas letter is a nice idea.

I haven't removed conditions. Preparing now to mail in August. But, I would like to send a check with it. I have used personal check on everything so far.

QUOTE (ktickner6767 @ Feb 5 2008, 12:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My wife finally received her 10 year card this past weekend! After nearly a 4 year long journey, it's finally over. Only after we had to submit evidence 3 different times! I supplied everything I could find and it worked. I was getting concerned. I would simply like to thank everyone here on the Visa Journey forums for answering my questions and keeping me focused and calm during the most stressful times through this process. It has truly been an educational and eye opening experience. Thank you all! And now we simply wait to apply for Citizenship. kicking.gif

I am sure I will return often to this wonderful resource on the web and offer my help and experience where I can to others going through the same strenuous process of immigration. Thank you once again everybody. You're the best!

Can I ask how long the actual lifting of conditions took? Start to finish.

Congrats.

How are you late in filling???? looking at your timeline you were approved sometime in April 2006, so your 2 year greencard will expire in april 2008, the earliest you can file is 90 days before the expiry date....

So you are not late in filing....

Kez

Thanks Kezzie. The expiration date is 4/10/08 so we should have mailed it yesterday 1/10/08. Hopefully we'll mail it Monday the 14th. I didn't know if we'll get in trouble with USCIS.

I was also asking for another couple who card expires 3/22/08. They haven't sent their application in yet. She thinks it's okay long as it's before the 90 days expiration date.

NO, no, no......It's not late until after the expiration. You CAN file it beginning 90 days before the expiration date. It's in your best interest to do it early. But, it is not a MUST. Not late until after that expiration date.

Your friend is 100% right..... you can file anywhere between the 90th day and the day of experation.... I would not leave it until the last day but anywhere in between is ok.... you have plenty of time to file....

Kez

Thanks. Do you think either couple will get an extension letter? Sorry about the questions but I keep hearing different things. I'm worried about my husband still working and able to travel.

You will get an NOA that will extend the visa for one year while they process. This letter can be used for employers, DMV's, travel, etc.

Yes, infopass. I would try and definately make that appointment close to the date the NOA expires. Make it early to ensure that. You can always cancel if a miracle happens.

I'd say if they haven't transferred you by now, it won't happen.

You sent it so that they had to sign for the delivery?

I think that is what you did and no one was there to take the delivery. The post office will try 3 times to deliver the package. They are sometimes not 3 consequtive days. If no one is there for each delivery, they will leave a note just like that. After the 3rd attempt, it will be returned to you via what I call extremely snail mail. If that happens, you will have to remail it.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionApplying For New Job...
I think the answer on this is NO. They would've given him the unrestricted social security card if he had applied before it expired. Now that he is on an extended NOA, he is technically only a year more extended in status. I think you are now going to have to wait for the 10 year green card to apply.

His SSN is extended along with that NOA so it is still good.

The good news may be that lately, I have seen them approve in about 5 months on a lot of people.

QUOTE (Jamaicagyaldat @ Mar 25 2008, 07:13 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hey everyone I need your help. I have a friend who has his Permanent Residency, but it is still conditional. Immigrated on fiance visa, adjusted status, received his green card. Now I know you have to wait 2 years after that for the conditions to be removed. His green card was delayed due to name check so it was received in December 2007. So his wife wants a divorce now. If he divorces her prior to the 2 years does he have to go back to his country immediately OR can he divorce and stay until his green card expires in 2 years?

Any help????

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionA bit deflated
Junk mail
Cards & letters
Anything he bought and sent away for
Magazine subscriptions
Does he have a job? Paycheck stubs for both of you with your address on it. Also, any associated mail from the job like health insurance information, retirement information, welcome to the company, signed contract, whatever.
Phone bills.....surely he called back to the country he came from.
Did you send any money via Western Union back? Recipts are good.
You can download an advanced directive and then both fill out to make the other the decision maker for the other.
Any evidence of any sort of trips together....airline tickets, hotel receipts, anything.
Speeding or parking tickets
Copies of credit cards and/or statements in both your names

At this point, I would work on stuff that shows you both have the same address....even if it is just one of your names on the item. Get as much of that as you can.
