Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionWhich is best to send my 1-751 packet, thru post office or FedEx?
I sent mine in USPS priority only because it fit perfectly in their box. I did no additional services.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionBlank Period of Evidence
That's plenty. I didn't bother with much evidence until after we received the AOS, which was 5 months after we married. During that time, all I really sent in was pictures. I didn't even put most of our bills into both our names till early this year.

The tax return covers that. And, the bank statements started then. Otherwise nothing else.

Evidence is evidence. Don't overthink this. You will be just fine.

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionworried about traveling soon
QUOTE (vegangirl @ Sep 16 2008, 09:31 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
hi everyone,

this kind of question probably gets asked quite often, but i don't have time to dig in he forum right now.

my GC expires september 27th. i sent in my I-751 packet yesterday. i am traveling to the bahamas from october 1st to the 8th.

my questions is this. do you think i will be getting some kind of receipt before i leave the country? if i don't, will they give me a hard time when i try to come back into the US with my expired GC?

thanks in advance.

Look at my timeline. I think you are going to be fine. You should have the receipt very soon. That's all you need, along with your expired GC, and passport.

Yeah it says that it is extended for a year. I am not worried about the 10 year card at this point. Just gonna wait to see what happens with that. Did all I could and that is that. Just worried about our trip in Oct. and if an officer would/could make a problem about the time span regardless of what the papers says.

There is no regardless of what the paper says. IF they sent the NOA, they extending the green card from the date it expired for one year.

Well, if the NOA says that your conditional resident card has been extended for one year, you're OK. For others reading this, bear in mind that acceptance of an untimely filed application is discretionary.

Yes, I agree. I am not ever suggesting you wait to send it in. I sent ours in 86 days before it was set to expire (something like that!). I think it can greatly hinder your life if you don't.

But, also, I don't think we should needlessly worry Yardie. She did what she could. I told her she may have some explaining to do as to why it was late.

Yardie, what does the NOA say? Does it say his green card is extended for another year? If so, at least the trip in October will be okay.

Otherwise, yes, they could cause some problems for you on the actual 10 year green card. But, as for that, I would not worry about it till you hear something to that effect. Cart before the horse, girlie. You know better then that!

We sent ours in last month and I did include pictures. I am a scrapbooker. I take pictures and scrap them regularly. I color copied my pages and included them from events the last 2 years.

Yes, I agree.....we had different numbers too. And, the one on the Bio is the one that ended up working. But, it took a long time for it to work. Wasn't until they updated the actual status of the entire CSC, that I found the number worked.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionWhen to File I751- Removing Conditions
You will be fine with your date you are sending in.

All you have to do is send in the form, fees, and additional proof.

Are you sending for more then just your husband? If so, it is $80 per however many people are needing biometrics. If it is just your husband, it is only $80 for his biometrics; plus his lifting of conditions fee.....I believe ours was $545 total with just one filer. They will then send you notice when and where the biometrics is. Very similiar to your initial AOS.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionWhen to File I751- Removing Conditions
The earliest is can be is 90 days before it expires. 90 days....not 3 months....so count back from expiration date.

You can send it in any time during that 90 days up to expiration. Just keep in mind, you will need the NOA for renewing the driver's license (if your state expires when the green card does) and to keep working legally.

I agree. I pretty much focused on what happened between GC received and now for LOC.

Good luck.

How are your tax returns 70 pages long? I would only send the main parts and vital attachments. Copy them two sided too. That should help.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionPlease Help me know what happens next with I-751.
You will get a biometrics appointment that will be roughly one month from the date they received your application.

After that you wait. VSC is running a little further behind then CSC. Check the USCIS website for the dates they are currently processing. You can also find the thread on here that is dedicated to VSC and the I-751. You can compare notes with others there.

Use the NOA to renew anything you need to. If the wait goes past one year, you will need to go to an infopass appt. and have them stamp your passport.

Good luck.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionMailing Address vs. Address
We did the same thing.

When we filed for AOS, we were living with my cousin. We had everything in that address. We moved just down the street, yet, for continuity, kept that as our mailing address. We just walk up and get our mail daily.

What I did was have all our bills mailed to my cousin's address, yet they say our real address as our service address.

It is not a thing. There is a place on the I-751 which asks for your mailing address as opposed to the address where you live. Just fill out the form properly. It's really not a big deal. Just be honest. They have seen it all before.

hey, cherr1980 I am in the same boat as you, I filed jointly first and after 6 months I filed the waiver I have a question for you, I have received the second receipt notice but it is printed on a plain blue paper and the case number is the same as the case number on my fingerprint notice from the first application. I applied on middle of August and I have not received a new fingerprint notice. Do you have the same case number or it is a different one?

hi, I presented The I-751 on March 08- fingerprints (done on april08), i've been married for 3.5 Years, but as simple as it sounds "my marriege can't go anymore", i want so bad the divorced, but how long it's gonna take + how its going to affect on my application???? ......
suggestions?

If I were you, I would wait and divorce after you get that 10 year green card. A divorce would probably take months to complete if the two of you can agree on everything. If not, it could drag on a very long time. Since you are already deep into the process of lifting the conditions, I suggest you wait and then file for divorce.
*JG*FemaleJamaica2008-10-03 23:03:00
Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionwhen to send
You CAN apply for lifting of conditions as early as 90 days before the green card expires. 90 days....NOT 3 months. You have until the date it expires to send it in.

Gather as much evidence as you can. It's a little too late to be worried about what you don't have. Focus on what you have.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionROC interview
I've often wondered since we didn't have an AOS interview. I really don't care if we do or not.....just another thing to do in this process if we do. The Fed building is like 10 minutes from our house, so no issues there.

I'll check into the stamp, I didn't realize you could do that. Has anyone else done that before the expiration of your NOA?

QUOTE (john_and_marlene @ Oct 7 2008, 07:52 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I think it might be best if you wait to file for naturalization until after you get back from your 5 month trip. If you miss an appt while you are gone, the application may be denied.

We never even got an NOA, so we just made an appt. and got the stamp.

What did they say about that? I've never really heard anyone say they haven't gotten the NOA.

You don't think that will effect you receiving the 10 year GC in the mail, do you?

That's what I am thinking.........the spite thing.........Otherwise, why do people put such emphasize on the timing of the green card and divorce? If divorce is in the cards, just do it. No need to look at some sort of timing.
