Hi Mid Feb Filers, I ran across this website and thought it might be useful. It's a Q&A with a former adjudicator.

I don't know if this will make you feel better, but we got our NOA2 approval email today.

Our NOA1 was dated 19 Feb and it was last touched 22 Feb. So we have all been in the same pile, and maybe that pile is starting to shift.

The email was sent at 8.45pm Friday night, so maybe I don't hate CIS so much anymore wink.gif

My fingers are crossed for anyone still waiting. And I am deeply grateful to everyone on this forum for giving their dates and support. Our approval came through almost exactly as the VJ stats had predicted.

PhilippinesLaid off before the interview?
QUOTE (The_Sage1 @ Dec 29 2009, 08:43 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
What happens if the American petitioner gets laid off of his job just a couple weeks before his fiance's interview? I already had the employer verification letter and recent pay stubs sent out to her today. Her interview is on the 19th of January. I haven't lost my job or anything but I've had a bit of a scare of losing my job lately. Should she just not say anything to the consulate, should that happen?

Wouldn't keeping that information from the embassy constitute fraud? Because you would be claiming support ability based on employment that no longer exists. I am not saying that they would neccesarily check the validity, but it would be a breech of your affidavit of support in the interview. You could probably get away with it, but then you have to consider if it is in the best interest of your fiancee to then come to the US if you are in financial limbo. Just my thoughts.

PhilippinesTo Open Or Not To Open???

Well yes thats what I kind of figured but the packet came with a warning not to open so I rather be safe than sorry. We will keep the plastic closed until we get to manila and have the visa stamped.

ah ok, thank you

I was also curious about this as well. So, the entire packet is plastic wrapped, but only the yellow sealed envelope inside is what is referenced as "do not open," correct? Thanks!

No offense, and perhaps he didn't imply it as so, but if he did I think you might have greater issues at hand here than getting a visa.

Completely agree.

I really don't see how someone who is in a real and loving relationship would say something like that.

"So yeah, time line, you get here by then or basically, you don't love me"

What the heck is that #######? When you are in a real, committed relationship with a person, you don't go around talking like that. You wait together, work through it together and love one another. He's bascially placing all the stress and blaming the OP for their having to wait.
Insane.

To the OP...I would have a serious discussion with your significant other. That's crazy!!

Agree, agree, agree! You're in this journey together and there should absolutely be no threats. Not a whole lot of this frustrating process is in your control (or his) and he needs to be supportive and kind.

Philippinesnew USCIS fees go into effect July 30th

Right now AOS is $395; EAD is $180 so even though AOS would include EAD it's still $435 more. Maybe $435 is not much for some of you but for us it's quite a bit. It's worth filing earlier than planned IMO.

I'll be honest with you. it is quite a bit for us as well but there is no way around it so I see no reason to stress about it. Why work yourself up over something that is mandatory and will allow your honey to work and pay you back!

If you actually sit down and tally up the cost of all of it....start to finish....it is mind boggling.

Philippinesnew USCIS fees go into effect July 30th

It's really not as bad as it looks as far as the AOS goes, it's only a couple hundred more dollars but now it included the EAD so no need for seperate checks. Still pricey though but worth it!

Yep. My sentiments exactly.
*JG*FemaleJamaica2007-05-29 14:15:00
PhilippinesI know, I know .. but I did it anyways ..

Good to see that you're an optimist! :)

Just a couple of comments. I think that trying to catch the July 30 cut-off for the fees is a bit too optimistic. Within two weeks of Mylene's and her daughter's arrival you have to:

a ) get married
b ) get a civil surgeon to issue the I693A (vaccination supplement) for Mylene and her daughter
c ) Have the certified marriage license/certificate on hand

All that on top of Mylene and her daughter trying to cope with jet lag. :)

BTW, you can file AOS for Mylene's daughter without you having to adopt her. She is already defined as "your child" by virtue of her being your stepchild. You can work on the adoption after the AOS has been filed.

Good luck! I hope everything will fall into place for you, Mylene and your new family. :)

We did not have to have a vaccination supplement to file AOS.

The other two things on your list are doable in 2 weeks of you hurry. A lot of stress....but, doable.

PhilippinesCertificate of Non-Marriage

So my fiancee is currently going through her medical at St. Lukes and of course she talked to others applying for K-1 visa. One of the people she talked to had a certificate of non-marriage from their fiance and now my fiancee wants me to get one as well. As far as I know I don't need to get one and even if I did I wouldn't know where to get one from. I've read and skimmed through the I-129F and even the I-134 but I don't recall either one mentioning this document. Can anyone help clear this up for me? Thank you.

I didnt need one for I 129f and am aproved for it , also never seen a non certificate of marriage as a requirement . just look over the instruction on whats required again good luck . Lona

Guess it depends on your embassy. In Jamaica, we needed one. It was called a non-impediment form.

PhilippinesHow to Answer Medical Exam Questions
QUOTE (Mister Fancypants @ Sep 5 2007, 03:02 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I thought we've matured to allow even US Presidents to have past drug use. My God, what an over reaching question to be asking applicants if any admission of past drug use will disqualify them from getting a Visa! Sh!t! The USCIS might as well put forth a list of pre-qualifying conditions that includes no history of drug use so that applicants won't go through to the point of the medical exam only to find out they would have never qualified in the first place!

Without a conviction or criminal record of illegal drug use, the medical exam question is pertinent for medical reasons, not legal...therefore, one should use discretion when disclosing previous illegal drug use, IMO.

Very well said!

I didn't think Andre was ready for the written; but he took it anyhow. 3 tries later, he passed it.

I didn't think Andre was ready for the driving part; but he took it anyhow. On the 2nd try, He got a nice state trooper who let him do some things twice in order to get it right and he passed.

He's been driving almost 8 months now and he still scares the bejesus out of me all the time!!!!! Can't wait for the ice and snow to come!

I did this sort of thing for one of Andre's birthdays. I did so many cards and scrapbooks to fill the time while we were apart, I can literally fill a room.

Philippinesdont bring PIRATED and FAKE bags
QUOTE (Roserick @ Nov 30 2007, 11:00 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Here take this advice..

When you bring Fake DVD's to the US.. There is 1 legal loop hole around the illegally of it..

Make sure have a laptop on your carry on baggage, Put the fake DVD's with your Laptop baggage..

Make sure remove the DVD covers and transfer them to a blank empty disc case.

Customs Officer ask you what are does disks.. Tell them their your Personal Properties.. Photos, Softwares, Data, etc.

They can't tell you to open them up on your laptop. That's against their jurisdiction. Its not like they caught you with drugs or illegal stuff on your baggage for them to have a search on your baggage.

My, my.....aren't you just the sneaky one.

if she didnt admit it, would they not see it on her blood?

as what ive heard from the people i knew...they didnt admit their previous drugs experience specially when dealing with USEMbassy.
Trace of drugs depends on the degree of usage..though mostly i heard that after 2 years it can't be traced already..
