That is a WOW!!!!! CONGRATS!!! everything has surely moved very fast for the two of you. I just hope our AOS will be just as fast when we file... as of now, we are still saving for the $2,210 (we will most likely skip EAD and just wait for AOS approval before I start working) that we would need for the AOS. It is high because there will be three of us applying.. but I am sure God will make a way since we are also doing our part of the bargain.

Congrats again Amanda and Stephen. kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif

Hello dbears smile.gif
Why are you going to skip EAD? If you file for the EAD at the same time as the AOS, there is no additional fee, so if it is a money issue, you don't have to skip it.

I freaked out about taking the written test, but actually, it wasn't that tough. I read the online DMV handbook through once and passed the test. As for the actual driving test - VERY easy! Tell him to do it soon though because the DL will only be valid until the date on the I-94 and it will have to be renewed once he adjusts status. You have to go in with the NOA1 and pay the renewal fee.

I am freaking out about the written test too, so thank you for saying that it was easy!
You say that the DL is only valid until the I-94 and then we have to renew it when we adjust status. do you mean that we have to renew it once we get the green card, on once we send the paperwork of the adjustment of status? (because that would make a big difference!) I can't remember what I read about it before, but I thought I read that it's when we send the paperwork... I was hoping to get my DL while waiting for AOS/AP/EAD.

Gaye, just reading this about your son! Poor thing. I'm glad he's ok and on the mend. I hope your tushy is too! laughing.gif You are so right about motherhood! My son was just two when he broke his femur (largest bone in the body / thigh) and he had to go into a full body cast for 8 weeks! Now he's a real boy's boy...(hehehe it was purple and had a hole cut out for his tushy and diaper) but he simply tripped over a basketball and turned it wrong. So, it can happen even if they're not climbing trees. I'm with you tho... let them climb!... but never stop saying 'be careful'. laughing.gif Nothing is easy.

pattilou, I can't understand if you're saying he sent it in last week ...or in April. If it was April i'd send another packet to them with the note as Liam and Sam suggested. If you sent it just last week perhaps it's just not in the system yet? Best to see if you can get a response from the other London folks. Hope it all turns out. smile.gif

Yes, it's not only when they climb trees. I had a friend in highschool who went to play basketball the day before the exams and he fell and broke his two wrists! He had to wait 4 more months to take the exams.

On another thread, pattilou said that they first sent packet3 back in April, and that last week her fiance brought another copy at the embassy. I would say that if he gave the packet to them directly, there shouldn't be a problem. They may have gotten it (obviously since your fiance gave it to them, from what you said) but it may take a while to update their system, and that's why the Department of State didn't see anything.

Hope everyone is doing well today!!!

My trip to visit my two sisters were shortened.. after 11hours of travel--BY BUS-- i received a text message from my kids school directress saying my son fell from a guava tree before the class started and they need to bring him to ER coz he might have broken bones.. and true enough he had fractured his lower arm and the ortho had to put a cast on his arms.

I received the message just as soon as my mother and I got off the bus so I just saw my sisters and then said goodbye right away then, head back to our place-- which meant i had anothe 11 hours of sitting in a bus.. it felt like I travelled 24hours straight, my butt ached from sitting. But all's well, my son was discharged from hospital yesterday and the doctor said he will remove the cast in 3weeks time.

Well, it was another huge expense (with more than half of the bill taken by the orthopedic doctor) but I am still thanking God coz at least it was only minor fracture and it was on the arm, not on the head. It could have been a lot worst.

Wow... I am so glad it is minor. How long will it take to heal?
Too bad you couldn't spend more time with your sister though... Next time tell you boy that when you're away, he's not allowed to climb on trees tongue.gif

Why is it that whether beneficiary or the USC petitioner, the woman would always be the more anxious one? Is it becoz we are made to be that way? or maybe becoz the males have an easier time hiding their feelings?

I only found out Ricky was already a little depressed in the USCIS process after we got the NOA2 and then he told me he really needed that one to pick his spirits up... everytime we talk before he was always the encourager I even thought he didn't mind the wait.

now that medical and interview is fast approaching, he always ask me: "are you getting nervous?" and he always says: "everything will be ok, you will pass"... i can't read if he is getting anxious or not. Maybe he is just trying to be stronger for the both of us luv.gif .

I know exactly what you mean....Darren is always the stoic one; I rarely see any emotion from him (maybe it's just because he's British)...he seems embarrassed to show extreme emotion...

Bryan doesn't show any emotions about this entire process. he sometimes asks me "when did you say you think you'll be there?" like it didn't matter much. But he's just hiding his feelings on that one smile.gif I don't think he is anxious but I know he is an emotional person. that's why I think he's hiding it.

My two cents on this... Maybe that's also because most men tend to be anxious on short-term events while we women are anxious about more things. If he was the one who had to leave everything behind, who had to go to the interview and medical exam, then I'm sure he would be anxious about these things. While since all he can do now is wait for me to come there, there's no point in being anxious. On the contrary if I was the USC I would be as nervous as I am now, because this whole process is going to affect our life! small events vs big ones.
