dbears, it's normal to be scared of the big change, especially for your kids, but don't worry too much, they will be fine even if they miss their country because their wonderful mom and their new dad will be with them. And if anything happens at school (but probably not, try to trust Ricky when he says they'll be fine), you'll help them kick the a$$es of the bad kids tongue.gif
And who knows, it might be easier for them to adjust than for you!
I'm sure you will all be fine smile.gif

So this morning I woke up and checked my status and no change - I get to work and decide, what the heck I'll feed the urge and check again. I burst into tears when I saw this:

Current Status: Approval notice sent.

On March 30, 2008, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service.

I can't even describe how shocked I am. I for sure thought we'd be waiting longer.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND PRAYERS!!!! I do hope this is a sign that VSC will start cranking them out again this week and no one will be left waiting.

Congratulations to you! That's great good.gif

Well... tomorrow may be the day. The day I finally tell my parents that he's applied for a visa to move here permanently, so we can get married. sad.gif <--should be a happy face, but it's not

My parents have always been suspicious of him because of the way me met (online). Even after spending time with him during his past visits. And because it hasn't been too long after my divorce, I know they will think it's scandalous.

Here is the worse part... our original plan was to tell them together in April, after the NOA2 came through and all. But because I was passed over for that promotion in work and can't count alimony as income, now I need to ask my parents to co-sponsor him. And I need to ask them soon so they can get their I-134's done asap. ohmy.gif

It's so sad. This is supposed to be such a happy announcement, not one full of anxiety and dread. <-- how I feel inside
I really just want them to be happy for us, but instead I fully expect a lecture. Or worse.
But all I can do is throw it out there and hope for the best, right? Maybe (hopefully) I'll be pleasantly surprised.

And if tomorrow isn't the day, then it will definitely be on Easter.

Just wanted to tell you Good Luck smile.gif
You probably already know how to tell them, but in case you have no idea how to do it, I think you should start by telling them how much you love him (you can even give them examples of what you love in him) and that it is why you have decided to apply for this visa. Then you explain how you had planned everything: he should be there around June (just an example...), then you will get married and apply for AOS, explain them what it is.
Maybe it's better to wait until they fully accept the fact that you're going to married. and then a little later (might be an hour later or a week later) tell them that there is one problem with that visa: the sponsorship. that it didn't turn out the way you and him had planned it and that it's why you hope they can help you.
Yeah I think it's better not to overload them into all this new information. just the fact that you are getting married again is going to be big news for them.

I hope everything will work out the best for you wink.gif

Haha, Would anyone really send them even if they did? I can just imagine their faces at VSC!

Personally I wouldn't send them something that I wouldn't show to the rest of the world, but everybody's different, so maybe some felt like it was a good proof (as Rachel said wink.gif ) and sent some of "those" photos! I don't think they accept videos though.

The thought of people studying our petitions still creeps me out a little, to be honest.

Alex and I are both pretty shy people and having to write the explanation of how we met and having to submit photos and e-mails/letters was excruciatingly painful! I just have to remind myself that hundreds of other couples have also submitted petitions and have had their relationship examined, too, and that the USCIS people are too busy to afford to spend time reading any part of the petition (other than the forms) too closely.

Well Rachel as long as you didn't include any of "those" pictures to prove a bona fide relationship laughing.gif then I don't think they'll spend much time reading through your file. I've read that when it comes to adjudication, they don't spend much more than 15 minutes. Of course if you sent really really really good "those" type pictures, you will receive many touches for months as it gets passed from adjudicator to adjudicator. I think you'll be ok tongue_ss.gif

They probably keep "those" pictures.... wink.gif

If they're really good, you'll probably get an RFE asking for more pictures!! laughing.gif

Yes that would be nice if they could come. Though at the same time, this marriage is the beginning of my American life, and I feel that if they can't make it, then that's ok too. kind of like 'leave the old life behind, let the new one start". And we can still have some kind of big family dinner next time Bryan & I will go to visit them in France, and i can wear my wedding dress again (unless American food made me gain too much weight!)
I'll talk with them about coming to my wedding when I have a better idea of what it will be like.

We haven't even thought of where to have our celebratory wedding...just having a civil ceremony to start the paperwork for AOS and EAD...but I do want the whole wedding/reception thing too (first marriage for both of us...)..both sets of parents are retired and on a fixed income, so we're going to have to do it ourselves...it's going to be small, but we'll have a blast!!!

Same here! I wasn't so fussed about the wedding/reception, really, but family and friends are - I'm the first child of my parents and first grandchild of my grandparents to be married, so it's important to them. Ours is going to be as small as possible, though - our parents aren't retired, just tight of budget. The most important thing is to have fun!

I'm the first child and first grandchild to be married too! Even though everybody seemed very happy for me, no-one said anything about the wedding being abroad except my mother and my sister: "why do you need a wedding gown? that's not going to be a real wedding, nobody from our family will be there!" To which I answered, "well, I was thinking maybe you would come"
Bryan and I don't know for sure what we will do. First we thought we would get married at the courthouse and do a ceremony wedding maybe next year. But I'm afraid that we're going to have so many things to start dealing with in our life together that if we wait, we won't do it. That's why I'd prefer to have a ceremony as our first and only wedding. Even though it means it will be smaller and half of the people can't come because we let them know two weeks before. Though we still haven't planned anything.

Susie, it seems your wedding planning is going so well, it is never too early to start planning the BIG DAY, you might even discover on the day itself that you have still forgotten or overlooked something so the longer the planning the lesser the stress when the actual day comes and also the least possibility that something would go wrong.

I especially love your ring and also the last gown in the pics. yes.gif

Hello
Even though they have special boxes for the tower, it would probably be better to disassemble what is inside the tower as Rachel said (at least I think that's what she meant) if you don't want anything inside damaged.. The tower is kind of like a box with a few parts, several wires and some empty space. It's going to move a lot... :S Of course that's easier to do if you know how to assemble it again or if you know someone who can do it for you.

Not sure I could cope with America's deep south myself - I like hot but not that hot!

From what you said about your country, yes I guess you're ready for a big change in your life smile.gif

I'm actually looking forward to having cold winters and hot summers (nothing like 120F though! 95 degrees is probably the highest I can bear), instead of the 'kind of cold' winters and warm summers we've had in France for the past 4 years. Thank you, Amanda. smile.gif

Wednesday is moving along nicely - can't wait for the five-day weekend (our company always has the Tuesday after a bank holiday Monday off).

My feelings on the whole visa process come in waves. Sometimes I'm very calm and feel certain that I can wait months and that perhaps it's best to delay things as long as possible so that we may have more money saved up. Sometimes I am very panicked - is this really happening? How on earth am I going to find time to sell my belongings, pack, sort out what I am going to need immediately and what can be put into storage, gain my driver's license (haven't even booked lessons!), organise a wedding, get all of my vaccinations and attend an interview? It feels like I will never manage to actually leave - although of course in a year's time I expect I shall look back on this post and laugh. Finally, sometimes I am really anxious - can't wait to be married, don't want to be apart - of course I am always missing Alex, but at some times it is easier to cope with than at others.

Still, no matter what mood I am in VJ is here - and all of you guys are seriously great.

I feel almost the same! Sometimes very calm, feeling that even if it takes long, everything's fine, we're used to it. and then, I'm never going to have enough time to do everything I have to do before I leave!

Anyway, it's nice to see all your approvals, guys.

I think I will be checking some short courses on reflexology or baking or sewing this week.. just to keep myself more occupied and not have so much time checking USCIS status. I already had a short course on swedish & shiatsu massage last year.(took it specially for my honey wink.gif ) So I might just add something more to my repertoire while waiting.

Yes I'm sure you will both have it soon !
