Excellent news!! When is she coming over? Yi and I were checking on flights and the best deal we found was through Asiana with her buying the ticket (4435rmb). Good luck with your next steps and AOS. :)

Canada uses the new DS-160? Wow...I am glad we didn't have to use that one, especially since we had already prepared the older forms. Yeah, I am so happy about the interview result. We are looking at early May for her to arrive. In China, some jobs require a minimum of one month "free" service if you quit while under contract. If she doesn't do this, she can incur a financial penalty if she ever tries to work or do business in China in the future. Plus, she needs to start planning what she will bring on this first trip. We decided not to plan any of the travel aspects until we had been approved. If we didn't get "pink" I think it would have been hard emotionally if we had invested more in the move. Thanks for your kind words!

Wow! I hadn't looked at this thread in a while..it is so nice to see everyone getting over the hurdles. I just got off Skype with Yi and she passed with a two minute interview! OMG...all the preparation and planning and paperwork we had ready as proof...and the VO didn't want to see any of it...just handed her the pink after 5 simple questions. I am so lucky and so blessed to have her in my life and so happy that the embassy decided not to have a bad day. I will check back from time to time, but I think that our thread is coming to the end of its' run....ahh the memories. Kizza, let us know the good news soon, girl! I spent more time worrying about your NOA2 than my own..so glad to see you are on to P3!

Dude, any word?? This should have been it tonight with some email/text.......let us know. By the way, GUZ is moving fast right now. Expect about a month to get from NVC to in-processed and P3 receipt, then about two months from sending your P3 to the actual scheduled date. That is the timeline for almost all of the current China filers. Good luck!

Another touch today!!! Two days in a row, hmmm!

He is Mexican, as am I, the photos of the tatts are because some are associated with organized-crime and gangs. The government is pre-documenting him and he will probably be profiled in the US. This is part of the counter drug-trafficking program. Your fiance is assuredly not a criminal, he is just being profiled. Don't sweat it.

approved!! yay! though he did get grilled a lot about his tattoos. It was weird. They asked a lot of questions and took photos. He's still waiting for the visa, but at least we can relax. Best of luck to everyone who is still waiting!!

She lives at home, but she doesn't "claim" anyone else, correct? If so, then 27k puts her well above the 125% poverty line for two people (you and her). If you interview is in the next month, she doesn't need her 2009 tax return, she can use the 2008 return. She can send you a copy of her W4 to be safe, but until it is closer to filing time, she doesn't have to worry about this. Of course, if she will be finished filing, then that is okay as well. Hope this helps you out!

hi guys! just need your help. we are yet to make a schedule for my embassy interview. my fiancee is just waiting for her tax return then she can give me her AOS and everything that comes with it. we are not sure if her income is enough for me to be granted a visa. i think she is way above the poverty guideline for 2 or 3 persons (she lives with her family of 5 but she doesnt have any dependent. all of them are working). she makes around $27000++. will this do? i dont know if we have to get a co-sponsor (her mom) or not. pls help us! any helpful comments will do. i really want to get this worrying thing to stop. thank you all! God bless!

I got a letter from NVC, so I guess it'####### or miss.

I also got a letter, the main thing of importance that it provides is your embassy case number. Of course, you can get that from NVC by simply calling them. Calling DOS is more important, they can tell you when the case is "loaded" and your P3 has been shipped.

Montreal is a bit backlogged, so we might not end up getting an interview until April or beyond, so in a way, it kind of works out. Ideally, I'd like to have our interview after May 14th. If things worked the way we'd like them to, I would travel up to Canada in May, we'd have it the interview in June or July, and then he would POE in August when he brought me home (at the end of the month, of course) and then we'd get married Oct. 10th. :) I'm crossing my fingers that it happens like this, but I'm also not holding my breath. If we get an interview date earlier/later than that, we'll improvise! :)

That sounds great! Yeah, we just found out on Friday that our Packet 3 has been mail....I expected a 3-6month wait (as can be typical for China) but it only took a month! OMG! So, we could be looking at an early April interview as well. We are still trying to decide what to do once she arrives...90 days is not enough to plan a lot and especially when she has never been to the US. So, we may do a simple ceremony in the park or just the court house and then plan something more for later. Then again, why worry so much...I just want her here! haha....why am I still awake? Nite!

If I'm understanding your question right, most of the time (and I'm not sure about your specific embassy) the fee is paid during your interview. Again, I dont know if this is the same for every embassy.

Hey Frenzy,
I am just curious, if I read your timeline correct you plan to get married on Oct. 10th, but at the rate your process is going you should have your visa in the next few months. Are you planning to delay the process or just not activate your K1 until the last minute at 6months? Just curious :)

Some consulates have very quick turnover times, some consulates allow the petitioner to attend the interview, and some are very slow and very difficult. Just depends. I am curious how many others that are tracking this thread have not gotten approvals?? We can jump in a van for a "field trip" to USCIS and kick some a$$...haha..just kidding. ;) It's coming, has to be soon, now that they should be back at work from the holiday. My petition has been at the Guangzhou consulate since mid-december, but there is a diplomatic "black hole" for China filers...can take 3-6 months before they will issue Packet3...most of you will who havent' gotten your NOA2 will probably be done before me! haha...oh well, I knew that going into the process. It depends what she's got documentable proof of what she's already had for immunizations. In our case her local hospital/ clinic suffered from the flooding that happened recently and could not produce vaccination records for us.

The current list is:
mumps, measles, rubella, polio, tetanus and diptheria toxids, pertussis, influenza type B, Hepatitis type A & B, Varicella, Pneumoccocal, Rotavirus, Menengococcal, Human Papillomavirus, Zoster, and any other vaccinations recommended by the CDC and Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices.

The advantage of doing it at the same place as your medical inspection is "the panel physician will review the vacinnation records and will determine if you meet the vaccination requirement. Only the panel physician can determine which vaccinations are medically appropriate." "After you have been admitted to the U.S. in "K" status and apply for adjustment from nonimmigrant to permanent resident, the USCIS will use the panel physician's vaccination assessment to determine your admissibility on medical grounds. Applicants who have not fully complied with the vaccination requirement will have to do so before they may finalize their adjustment of status in the U.S."

In other words, if you get your immunizations at the same facility that you get your medical exam done, you will automatically pass the requirement at AOS.

One recent status change is that the CDC is no longer requiring the HPV immunization for alien immigrants adjusting status. Here is one source for this information: http://www.laborimmi...for-immigrants/

This should help keep the cost down.

Not quite yet, she needs the actual interview letter to be able to go in for the medical at the St. Luke's extension. I believe that's also on certain days and on a first-come first-served basis as well, and they do say it could take multiple days or not finish in one day. Google "K1 visa interview instructions manila embassy" to find the pdf with instructions and requirements. Does she have her cenomar and NBI done?

Vicky priced her immunizations there, much much MUCH cheaper than doing it here in the states. I'd recommend the same for your fiancee, get the immunizations done during the medical inspection. Adds about $150 US. Here it would be in excess of $6-700 probably. You'll need them for the AOS process after you marry.

After NVC mails it to the embassy, after the embassy shows it as received and filed, she can do the DS-156 and DS-157 forms then call the automated line for an appoinment date.

Other people on this forum have noted you can call the DOS (dept. of state) to find out when the embassy has received or shows received the paperwork.

Other people on here have advised me to just wait 1-2 weeks after it leaves the NVC then call to set up an appointment. If it's not yet entered into Manila embassy's database you won't be allowed to set an appointment and will be out the few dollars for the pay-per-call hotline (also cheaper for her to do that there). She won't lose the DS-157 fee if it's already cleared through NVC. That fee is valid for an appointment for 60 days after paying it.

Wow...you folks in the Phils have it much easier for the embassy stage. For China, there can be a 3-6month "dead zone" of time due to diplomatic issues before the consulate even opens the case once received and then
you have to wait for the P3 to be sent, return it, wait for P4 interview notice...so we still have 3-6months of time left on our journey assuming all goes well. So JEALOUS! haha Good luck! kicking.gif good.gif

Really? The vaccines are $6-700? I thought there is only a limited number required...wow, I will look more into this...

If you see touches to your file, it seems that most people get two...first day is the adjudication process beginning..the second day is the file being processed for approval transition or RFE notification. You should see a change in your status sometime later today or this evening. I do not know anything for certain, so just wait and see. The good aspect is that they are working on your file. Even if you RFE, you can turn that around in less than a week and be done. Good luck! good.gif

Hi everyone! sorry to hear that some of you are still waiting for your NAO2. I'm crossing my fingers for you guys, hope you all get approved this week!

for everyone that has their NOA2: when should I start calling the NVC, or will they let me know when they've sent it out. I'm not really sure about this step, what actually happens at the NVC? Do they make any decisions there, like can you get denied anything, or is it all basically administrative processing?

Search my posts and you will find the information for calling NVC. It should only take a couple days for in/out of NVC unless there are issues. They can tell you the ship date and then you can "try" to track your package. Once the DHL shows delivered, you can start calling DOS to see what your status is. Good luck!

This is such a relief. A took a gamble by not taking VJ advice and didn't not have original signatures on it, because that would've delayed things. I had andrea sign with a heavy ink pen and use a high resolution scanner. It worked!

Anyone know what I should expect for the earliest interview date? About 6 weeks? 8 weeks?

Congrats to everyone else, and if you didn't received it and are still waiting, go directly to USCIS.gov and check.

I would check in the regional forum. My experience with reading about Bogota is that it is a tough embassy to deal with. The regional forum people can give you the specifics. Congrats on getting through this part of the journey!

Yeah, if you don't have an RFE it will go straight to Post Decision Activity. Remember, this is the same website used for other visa types that are process solely in the US, so there are components to their process that we don't have. Our additional processing takes place at our respective embassy.

We really need to get everyone from september through the embassy stage before this possible fee increase takes place next year. Have a good weekend everyone...keep in mind to contact NVC next week to confirm your in/out status and get your NVC case number that you can use to contact DOS. Whoohoo!

Wow! I just looked at the numbers...26 for this week! We haven't had that much effort since October. It may be higher..some people are probably still sleeping or haven't updated yet.

Holy cow!! Everyone is getting approved this week it seems! Congrats to everyone, this is a great week.

Yeah, if you don't have an RFE it will go straight to Post Decision Activity. Remember, this is the same website used for other visa types that are process solely in the US, so there are components to their process that we don't have. Our additional processing takes place at our respective embassy.

I feel you guys!!! We still haven't gotten anything yet~ crying.gif crying.gif crying.gif
Congrats to everyone else though!~

I agree with some previous posters, there may not be many touches, if any, for some because people are being allowed to adjudicate at home. Crazy as it sounds, someone is in the lazyboy reading your file. blink.gif This seems supported by the "dumping" of NOA2s these last two days. They are cycling in files and taking more out. Good luck for everyone today!!!

I see what you see, but unfortunately that is the next proposed rule change...not the visa fee increase. They run them consecutively in the master document and then pull out the relevent pages..and sometimes there is additional information for another action on the end of the last page.

"When Will the Department of State
Implement This Proposed Rule?
The Department intends to implement
this proposed rule, and initiate
collection of the fees set forth herein, as
soon as practicable following the
expiration of the 60-day public
comment period following this
proposed rule’s publication in the
Federal Register,"

publication date...Dec 14, 2009

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade...but has anyone else seen this load of horse ####?

http://www.regulatio...900006480a6a10b

They are going to increase the visa processing fee to $350! And it won't be grandfathered in for those of us already in the queue. This is ridiculous... protest6wz.gif ranting33va.gif dead.gif helpsmilie.gif

From what I read and understood of that it wont go in effect until June 7th, 2010. As long as you have your interview before that, you should be fine!!!

Congrats on the NOA2's in here today!

Dude, where did you read that?????? Also, one of the senior people on here commented in another post that they will also be increase all fees across the board sometime next year 50-100%, including AOS!!! OMG...over $2K for AOS...I am going to faint if we don't get in before this happens. Come on CSC, get everyone across the line..
