I've never heard of etsy...what is that?

ETSY is a website that allows craftsmen and artists to create and sell their items online. There is a lot of really cool things that I have seen. There is a girl in my lab who is always shopping on this site, she likes things that are not mass produced and more unique.

Congrats to Sept filers NOA2 approvals and to those of us who are getting ready for the next step. It is so encouraging to finally see some progress. I'm getting a little bit anxious to get an interview date now. If it's in January, then I'll prob fly down there for the interview . If it's later, then we may put off the interview (if possible) for the end of March when Andrea graduates so I can go to the ceremony and interview. That would be nice, but then I don't see her until March, which would be 7 months apart!

I am confused here, according to your timeline, you met for the first time AFTER you mailed your application?? Am I still drugged with turkey? I hope not, dude, or you might have some troubles. blink.gif

IF you have the EMS label set to deliver at the local PO Box in GUZ or to one of the local housing establishments,(There is a lot of advice on places to stay over at the "CFL" webforum, typically the visa should be in hand within a couple days assuming no issues. It is still not advisable to purchase her ticket until the visa is in hand. As far as your POE, any international airport is used to handling non-English speaking travelers so she shouldn't worry. One easy tip is for her to identify someone in a nearby seat who is probably on their way back to the US from visiting family and is bilingual and then ask them if they will handcarry her to the immigration line. We entered at the terminal at O'hare and got stuck in processing for over an hour because NVC had not updated my address change so her papers didn't match the system and they held her while they tracked down the information. The main thing she needs to be careful about is bringing a lot of medicinal or food products because if she is spot checked she will lose most of it. I say this because there is certainly a mother or friend who will tell her that she NEEDS to take certain items that are impossible to find in the US. :innocent:

Congratulations!!

Who is Mrs. Yang and how do we get a hold of her? I'm just starting out and collecting as much information as I can.

Thank you :)

The Yang's contact information can be found over on the CFL forum (Candle for Love) along with reviews by other members. The Yang's often post comments there as well. They are nice and can be helpful with the consulate end of the process and certain can make getting in and around Guangzhou easier for you if you are not familiar with the city.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWhat to do?!
I think that there have been enough responses on this and I think that you can see that everyone is supportive but also strongly leaning towards a consensus that there is an issue with her reasoning for delay. There are probably many factors at play that are causing her to react this way and only the two of you can resolve this. However, unless every other facet of this women is perfect, then I would seriously question a person who places so much value on the cost and glamor of an event over the possibility of being together at an earlier time. I also feel that a couple in which one partner focuses on the financial benefit of the relationship rather than the other person will ultimately face many hardships and often failure over time. Consider these issues and move forward rationally and with conviction to prevent future heartache, my friend.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsdoes this count as a previous visa approval?
The most important issue that you will encounter with GUZ is they will ask your current fiancee about the previous one. With that being said, make sure you have full transparency with your girl so that you don't have trouble. They see this as a red flag and look for the easy ding if she is unaware...they will claim non-bonifide relationship. Good luck.

Actually for flights I would recommend having her check Asiana Airlines from her end. If she buys a one way ticket from China the price will be much cheaper. Americans pay higher prices, because we can, but withing China the price is lower (in most cases). Case in point, my friend recently paid about $595 for a one-way from Shanghai to Chicago (with a stop in Korea). Just food for thought.

I am not in any way trying to make this political, but if we do eventually have the "smaller" government that a larger portion of the population seems to be starting to support, what effect will that have on immigration? Will we see 6+ months to NOA2 becoming normal? I worry about this for all of the honest hardworking folks who have happened to meet their love in another country. Many would say that we need to plug the hole for ALL immigrants, but how do you explain that to a soldier who gave part of his/her youth and energy to protecting our country? I can't help but feel glad that I am past the time of my life where I was checking my status online everyday and worrying about potential issues at interview. I wish that non of us had to go down this path, but this Marine has seen harder days and will reach the end of this journey with his girl in arms soon. Good luck, brother!

headbonk.gif Okay, I'm totally confused. On the packet 3 it says to send IN the documents they list, but then it also says to bring some of them with you. So which is it? Or do we send in the whole thing and then bring it with us too?

Ugh.

Then on the embassy page here on VJ under the "what forms to send back to consulate" part it only has DS-230, DS-160, and the checklist on there.

Yes, only part-I of DS-230, the OF-160 check list, and the shipping label for Packet 4. However, this is from my understanding for the consulate in Guangzhou, but should be the same for others. All other forms will be taken with you to the interview, and this includes the medical forms from Packet 4. From what I have read of other's interviews...it would be a good idea to take copies of everything and the required originals. If you have a divorce, it seems that some consulates are asking for a notarized letter of explanation. I think some of these things are to "trip up" people who are not completely prepared. Plan carefully.....and triple check everything.

We've known for several year now didn't have any ideas how deceiving he can be... Everything was fine until they issued him the K1-visa in Nov. of last month. He's been telling me lies that he lost his phone, bad batteries, no signal, he has more appointment to meet with the embassy and etc... you name it. I got a little suspension so i call to the embassy where he's at and spoke to the immigration officer who granted the visas he said "Visa and his passport was handed back to him in his hand at the begining of the month on his third visit we have no further appointment to see him" That's when discovered all the information. I call his family and they all tell me different stories... I heard from my friends that are close by where he lives... said they heard that he went to a different country other than the USA. So I was wondering if there's any kind of screening to filter people like that and what can i do from my ends to report so if i should happen file for a different K1 in the future this doesn't effect me??? PLEASE HELP!!! sad.gif I don't know what to do anymore... and lost a lot of money for this...

"They heard"......I think they are all lying to you. Chalk it up as an experience and move along, friend. He's not worth your time. He can't do a damn thing unless he marries you without 90 days IN THE US.

I'm sorry.

Was going to suggest, if you're not against video game violence, to both get an xbox. Granted, I'm biased because I loving gaming, but OMG we have so much fun playing co-op (where you're connected via the internet to the same game) on all sorts of games. Lots have female characters, and my SO genuinely gets a kick out of having to 'keep an eye out' for me. Makes him feel all protectorish, or something! lol...

We've literally been reduced to tears of laughter playing some games, once where his character has picked up mine (albeit graphicswise I was a 7ft black guy) and carried me down the street over his shoulder, chasing after whoever it was who ran me over shouting, "hey! dude! think you can run my woman over and get away with it!??" lol... maybe you had to be there but it still makes me laugh 2 years on.

You can rent games from blockbuster so it doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg. And you talk via a mic, so there's that too.

We joke that we're going to have to get another console and TV set up once I move because playing split screen just isn't as much fun as co-op in a lot of games. My kid's going to have the hangout with her friends at our place. The kid next door to us already thinks Ry is a demi-God, because he talks gaming with him. And the rest of her buddies along the street are always astounded that her mum plays on the xbox - isn't that what guys do?? They always start giggling when I open the door and have my headset on and controller in hand...

YOU TWO ARE NERDS....haha...so cute. (By the way, I work in science...I am qualified to hand out the nerd title.)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHow to pass the time?
One thing that is not really a coping mechanism, but it is a creative idea for your relationship, is for one of you to have a small notebook to write in. I sent Yi a notebook (a small red Moleskine) back in february to use as a journal, but instead she has used it to keep track of the various topics we discuss. Over the summer we used it to create a list of things that we wanted to do on my next trip, and when I went earlier this month it was so great to have. I think when you are in love and not able to see the other person for long periods of time it is easy to have a kind of tunnel-vision and become forgetful. We had a check list to keep us organized and it also kept us from just hugging all the time....we had "chores" to do! haha And we are also making lists of things for the US: cities to visit, foods to try, new experiences. This may also help with some of the previously mentioned "boring" conversations....pull out the book and find something to add or think about. And at some point down the road when this whole "visa journey" is behind you...there are some great memories recorded and a point of reference for the couple that you have become. Anyway..just adding to the conversation. blush.gif

I think the OP's trouble is that he lived with his fiancee for several months recently, during which their "correspondence" was direct and not anything recorded. Is it wrong to suggest that the two of you write some letters? I guess this suggests falsifying dates, so probably not good. Just try to find every scrap of paper that you can between the two of you.

I think it is critical that we all make a point of taking the time to ensure that we are corresponding in written form just as much as we are Skyping, ect. We can not give the embassy any reason to doubt the legitimacy of our relationships. Good luck dude!

dstone - after the casefile leaves NVC, you'll want to start calling the DOS hotline, get a human, ask for status.

Some K-1 casefiles are not sent via DHL, they are only sent via SAFEFILE. It varies, there's not hard/fast rule for which to pick SAFEFILE ONLY - but ..

If that casefile is sent out 'SAFEFILE ONLY' then you'll get more speed - as the 'dead zone time' waiting in the warehouse is gone (usually 60 to 120 days ) . If DHL is involved, then expect a wait. DHL ship fast, sure, but there's a 'dead zone' for warehouse activities - GUZ Staffers pick up casefiles in the warehouse on a FIFO inventory basis. There's rumour, though, that even that lag time is lessened, as GUZ had got 'caught up' recently.

Then, if you want more speed, there's a P3 trick to do - see http://www.visajourn...GUZ_P3_Shortcut Keep calling DOS, ask for status - when you hear 'P3 sent' then she can do this stuff on my wiki page.

Mine left on the 14th, I call DOS and they say my electronic is loaded but the paper has to arrive first. Hopefully the "dead zone" won't be too long. Can only wait and see..

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportshow long it will take to get approval from Vermont?
Hi, first off, welcome to VJ! Second, welcome to the China forum, we try to help each other out with as much as we can. Third, please, please carefully read the FAQ's and Guides :guides:

Many times, new folks come onto the forums and ask questions that were asked a week ago, or things that could easily be answered by reading the guides. We all love to help, but you really have to be proactive in this process..it is way too expensive to not be mentally invested in every step. Part of the reason I say all of this is that you are certainly going to receive much harsher comments from others if you post a lot of "common newbie" questions without researching first.

As for your petition approval, it can really vary. If you filed VSC in Sept. you could have been approved in a month, now it looks like that wait is longer. You can see this by looking at the "immigration stats" pages for estimates. Some people on here get very luck and some are unfortunate victims of a non-perfect system.

Good luck and let us know what we can do to help.

you're right, i will create an account here to help others as well. thanks.

another silly question, what's NOA1 and NOA2? which one i'm waiting for now? I received ki1 application receipt. is this NOA1 or NOA2?
