Good morning! Woo! It's all happening now...must be scary! (I'm already scared just thinking about having to tell my work/housemate I am moving back to my parents' and having to cancel all cards, etc.) Good luck!

Still crossing fingers for sunny... sad.gif

Indeed, it IS scary! Everything seems to be going too fast now. After waiting for many months, now I know that the end (of my life here in France) is very close. I am not going to the USA right now but if everything goes well, I should be there in less than a month! and even though I am looking forward to it, it is very stressful to know I only have such a short time left here.
Jeroen, even though September 1st seems quite far from now, I can assure you that the time is going to fly. I gave them my notice two months ago already and it seems like it was only a month ago. Every day I was thinking "just x more days before the end of the week", and every week "x more week just disappeared".

Good morning everyone! This is my last week at work! kicking.gif Then I'll go back to my parents' house for a while. I have started packing this weekend but I hate to do that. I hate to throw things away. I thought I would pack most of my stuff this weekend but I still have a lot of things to do sad.gif

Sunnybear, I hope this week is going to be yours smile.gif

Glad to hear about the clear bloodwork, Cecile!

I'm almost looking forward to my medical because this will be the first time in my life that I've had a check-up. I think it's a little odd sometimes that we have to have our cars and parts of our houses inspected annually but not our own bodies. wink.gif

It was actually the first time I had the HIV test. I've been thinking of doing it for a few years now but never took the time to do it.

I'm speaking to a friend from my home town right now and she's really excited at the thought of me moving back for a bit. My parents also sounded really delighted and my mother said the twins would be ecstatic (they're too young to even remember when I lived at home). kicking.gif

smile.gif I have known my best friend for 7 years now, and met her again last weekend. We hadn't been together for more than two years (we were leaving in different cities). And she is actually going back to her hometown (next to mine) for vacation the same week I will go back there. We are both very excited! I don't know exactly how my parents feel about me leaving the country. I mean, I've known what they thought in the past 7 months, but I wonder what they think now, that it is getting closer.

A quick update: I got my blood test results tonight and everything is good.

That's really great news.. not only for the visa but also for yourself of course wink.gif

btw, about the forms, don't they send it to the US embassy or consulate themselves? Thats what they do in the Netherlands at least, the forms will be included in the brown envelope that we have to take with us to the states if I am not mistaken (or so I thought since that includes the stuffies we need for our AOS).

Nope, apparently in France they do it differently. They gave me the forms (in a closed white envelope) and the x-ray, and I will be giving it at the embassy on my interview day. Then they probably put it in the brown envelope like they do for other countries.

A quick update: I got my blood test results tonight and everything is good.

I also asked for a copy of the medical forms, they only copied the first page of the form. I had read on other posts that some people gave a copy of the DS-3025 for AOS in order to not do a new medical. the page they copied for me isn't DS-3025, but I think I'll give this for AOS too, since it does show when the exam was done (good for a year) and some of the info of the medical. I hope it will be good.

For girls, I asked the doctor about the HPV/Gardasil vaccine requirement (as I read on the UK and the Canada forum that it was a requirement now), and he said it was probably new, that the embassy did not give him any information about that, therefore he won't do it. Another French girl who went to another doctor (FaustineJason, with doctor Meyers) said she didn't get it either. I'm planning on getting it once I'm in the US though.

Jeroen, I hope they will contact you soon for your interview! Who knows, since they gave you a call a few days ago, maybe they will call you as soon as they have your checklist smile.gif (and btw you and your girl and ex (and everyone from the Netherlands) are giants!!!!)

Rachel, I am glad you are going to be able to do this smile.gif I am sure you will enjoy spending this time with them as much as they will enjoy it (temping work or not)

You have to go back because it takes some time to get the blood results. They told me that I could come back whenever I wanted, even just before my interview at the embassy. But since I took my day off, and since I prefer to have everything prepared in advance, I will go tonight.

Yet another beginning of the month worry about money and accommodation. wacko.gif

Flight prices are already rising and I have no doubt they'll continue to do so what with the price of petrol these days.

I'm still planning on looking after my friend's cat this summer and staying in her empty house for six weeks. After that...well, I was sorely tempted to ring up my parents and ask if I could live with them for a month or two. Heh - they'd then have five of their six children back at home! tongue.gif (Well, four, since my brother will be returning to university in September). Chance to spend more time with my family, see old friends...and hopefully save on food/rent costs.

The only problem is I wouldn't be guaranteed work. However, if I could find temping work that'd probably pay more than my current job, so maybe it's worth taking the risk.

I don't know...this is all a moot point anyway as I haven't even spoken to my parents yet and they may not necessarily relish the idea of having another child back at home...

yeah the flight prices rising suck :S Even though I have enough money to afford a ticket in the middle of the summer vacation, I would prefer to save it for something else...
Going back to your parents' could be a good idea. Right now, I feel like July is my "farewell" month. I am trying to spend time with all the people I won't see anymore. I definitely look forward the two weeks or so that I will spend with my family. So, if they want you to come back, and if you think you could find temp work easily, I'd tell you to do it.

Blake, don't always trust everyone who says that if she has a light skin she can't wear white. I hesitated a lot too, because my skin is white (my mother says my legs look like the legs of a dead body, hopefully the rest of my body isn't as white!) I ended up trying both white and ivory dresses and both colors were nice. White didn't make me look like a ghost. My skin is white, my hair is dark. I chose white because the dress I ended up choosing was only in white, but I'm sure ivory would have looked good too.
Did she find a dress that she liked? i'd say she needs to try both colors if she can, to see if really there is one that she can't wear.

The medical went smoothly. MissYoko, I chose Dr Slattery, He was nice, he checked my vaccines, checked my size (and apparently I'm 2 centimeters taller than when I last checked!!!!!!!!! I don't know if he messed up, but starting of now, this is my new size tongue.gif), my weight, blood pressure, eyesight, etc. Then I went three streets further to do the blood test, and on my way back to the doctor's office, I went to do the x-ray. So far, everything is good, but I'll have to go back there tonight (or later) to get the results of the blood test, and he will give me everything for the embassy. it took an hour and 15 minutes.
Then I went shopping tongue.gif

lol, I received a call from the consulate earlier this morning. They were wondering if I made an error or if I was still waiting for some of the things mentioned in the checklist (which I still am, btw) coz I've only sent the requested forms back to the consulate and not the checklist yet (which was basically what the checklist asked me to do).

Turns out people usually wait until they have everything and then send the checklist in together with the other forms but the way I did was actually the requested method, which was also ok with them.

I think it was cool they called me, it was a really nice lady (Dutch speaking btw) and it shows to me that they're on top of it.. it kinda makes me feel more confident about the whole thing hehe biggrin.gif

Purple or dark red sounds like a good color. It may not be very traditional, but it's your wedding so you're supposed to do it your way (of course your families may frown, so you'd better let them know in advance that you don't do the traditional white gown) wink.gif

I haven't a clue as to what I'm going to wear either. I think having the wedding in the cabana spells 'casual'. I'm a bit scared of going for white; afraid I'll look gargantuan. I'm thinking maybe blue, since blue's a traditional/lucky colour to wear to a wedding. I'd like something with long sleeves. At the moment though this is all a moot point as I can't afford a dress.

You said you're scared of going for white, have you actually tried on a white dress (it doesn't have to be a wedding gown if you don't want to)? that way you would know what you would look like with white. What type of blue would you like? something dark or light-colored?

And oh yeah to marry my soul mate too blush.gif

It sounds lovely. I remember the dress you showed us a few months ago and it was beautiful. I can't wait to see the pictures of your wedding!
I saw a nice dress two months ago in a store in Paris and I believe it would be nice to wear it to the reception, but I'm not sure I remember where I saw it! I'll have to go to hunt for it! tongue.gif
oh yeah, of course, the only reason we're talking about dresses and the best way to have a perfect wedding is only because we are excited to marry our soulmates and we want them to find their brides beautiful. It's all about them, it's not because we are shallow girls who like fashion! tongue.gif (well actually I usually hate fashion, so this is totally true! biggrin.gif)

yeah... right now I'm thinking that I want to wear it at the courthouse, then we go somewhere else (maybe a park? a tearoom? I just looked at the last pages... could anyone guess today is a very slow day at work? tongue.gif

And I wanted to do it like you: have only one wedding, but he managed to make me change my mind. Having the ceremony later means we can spend more time planning everything, and people who have to fly to come will have more time to book plane tickets. It is still going to be a small wedding though. But I want to make the courthouse wedding special. Not just 2 minutes signing the paper and then it's over. Me, I am getting pretty excited because I am picking up my wedding dress on next wednesday!! Yeah!
One more thing to bring through the plane, but oh well! I don't care, I love it ! biggrin.gif

I will get my wedding dress in two weeks, at my final appointment with the seamstress.
Actually Bryan and I talked about the courthouse wedding yesterday. At first he said that he wanted me to wear my dress (and I want to). But now he is saying that we should invite most of our friends and his parents after the wedding, to "celebrate". What bothers me is that if I keep my dress, they will all see it now and it won't be a surprise anymore when we have our ceremony next year, especially since the ceremony will be a small one, maybe ten-fifteen more people than the ones he intends to see after the courthouse. He said I could wear the dress and remove it after the courthouse, but I think it is kind of stupid to wear it only for 5 minutes... So the other solution would be to wear another dress (not the wedding kind) that day (which could be a good thing: that way I don't need to bring it on the plane with me in a month or so, I can ask my parents to bring it when they come for the wedding, though I think I'll want to bring it myself anyway). But I wanted to wear my wedding dress the day I become his wife!
I'm not sure what to do about that... :S

Actually I was thinking that maybe we could just keep posting in that thread. Even though we won't be in the K1 process anymore, this is our thread and I doubt the people of January next year would use it.

I was thinking the same thing a while ago which is why I said we could ask the admins to move this thread to a different location so we can continue posting (for example the aos forums).

We don't necessarily have to move it somewhere else, and in the AOS forum if there were threads by months, I would expect them to be in relation to when we file AOS, not when we filed for K1. Or maybe move it to the "Moving here and your new life in the USA" forum.
Going to another website could be another option, but then that means one other website to check everyday! tongue.gif

I was wondering what could have caused this tremendous slowdown in approvals over the last few weeks and then I figured out that it must be because I have not posted the list of approvals in a bit. whistling.gif I think that perhaps the CSC is so lost they were relying on the list to figure out who to approve or not. So to give them some direction here it is. Let's hope someone over there pays attention and gets on the ball. Someone, that's not already on vacation that is.

And tomorrow when we wake up, we will see that all the January still waiting will be approved! If it works Blake, you will be VJ's guru!

3 hours of travel everyday? I hope I'll never have to do that.
And about having free time, he should spend it talking with you more often, and also try to see all the people / places that he won't see anymore in a few weeks/months. Though the bad thing is that it usually costs money to go to all these places...

It is strange to see how the different embassies work. Here they don't expect you to have your medical before you get packet4. And how do they know if you have set an appointment for the medical?

I had lunch with my coworkers today, and we drank margaritas to celebrate my boss's promotion, which was nice, but now it's hard to find the right way to say things in English tongue.gif

laughing.gif You're excused from any mistakes you make, then.

When you send back Packet 3 there's a place to write down the date of your medical. I left it blank. I suppose they also find out when your medical is when the results are sent through to them!

Ah yes, they sure know you got your medical if they receive the results!
