K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJanuary Filers at the CSC - How are you doing?
Then yes if it's at the end of September you can wait until the end of June to see if you need to change it.
I have noticed several UK members here for whom it took around 2 months between NOA2 and the interview date, but I don't know if the ones I saw were exceptions or if it's 2 months for everyone. if it's two months, let's say you get your approval at the end of June (worst case scenario! I am pretty sure you'll have it before that!!!) then he can come at the beginning of September. But that's only assumptions... you should see with UK people how long it takes.

Hi, I am new here tonight. I filed in Jan 08 and just got my 129F approved (CSC). I am awaiting my letter from NVC.

Congratulations!

Thanks dbears. I've posted the question about the letter of intent in the French/America couples thread, I'll see what people who already went through the interview say.

Regarding leaving my country, I haven't started stressing on the emotional issues. Of course I will miss my family and my life here, but I know I will see them again (unless something bad happens). I really hope your father's health is going to improve and that he will be there when you go back to the Philippines next time smile.gif And don't forget that even if he may think, like you, that he won't see you again, he is probably very happy that you fulfill your dream and marry the man you love.

Yes, you might be right Cécile!
I was just looking into the FAQ that embassies give different names for packet 3 ("Instruction packet") and to packet 4("Appointment packet").That might be one of the reasons he said that, but still that guy had a ton to me that I didn't like!!
I guess, I just need to be more patient! Rachel was saying she didn't received anything either.
I know I was doing "pretty" good since last january! I am stressing because it is still a big thing for me to realise I am leaving France for good this time.
I cannot wait to be with my sweet love, but it is also hard to be leaving my country. It is just the "transition" period who is stressing me out!!
Over that, we have our wedding date fixed to the 7th of September, and I want to be able to organize things in America, instead of having to do things through my fiancé and mother in law ( even if they are a big help for me now!!).
I am an anxious person but I will do my best to feel better, and to relaaaax smile.gif

I agree, now that we got NOA2, things look more "real". We are really going to leave our country, start a new life with our fiance (soon to be husband/wife). This can be quite stressing. So many things to take care before leaving, so many things to organize! but I'm sure we will all be fine smile.gif

On another note, I just realized that Bryan's new intent of letter is probably still addressed to the USCIS (or whoever it was supposed to be addressed the first time) and not to the embassy... do you think I should ask him to send me another one?

No, I've been off the pill since January. I'll probably put it down to stress, but usually when I'm stressed it ends up being late!

QUOTE (Cecile and Bryan @ Jun 2 2008, 04:19 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
yes maybe it's stress. Between waiting and not knowing when the next steps will be and preparing everything, going to the medical, etc. the MMR shot might have put created more reason to stress.

Yes, I would also say it is the stress!
I realised a couple of days ago that the wait for the papers from the embassy is getting me really anxious!
I started to have some stomach aches, and I also had my periods in advance, twice in May!! wacko.gif
As if once in a month is not enough....
(...)

Don't stress now! you've been able to wait 5 months, you can probably manage to stay sane for 2 or 3 more! Too bad they couldn't give you any information.
Maybe it's because they don't name things the same way you do. We say packet 3, but maybe they have a completely different name to it, and that's why he told you there wasn't such thing.

I had a good feeling - now I have a bad feeling. All this invisibility to the process is driving me crazy. With all the millions of dollars they are supposedly spending on this you'd think that there would be a better way of keeping informed.

To pass the time, I did some math (I know, I'm a geek): According to the stats, there are about 35000 K1s processed a year. Over a 200 work day year that means processing 175 a day. Over two centers (CSC and VSC) that means each center needs to process about 88 petitions a day. Therefore, in an eight hour day, they only need to process 10 or so an hour. If it takes 15 minutes to process each petition, then one adjudicator can process 32 a day. Therefore, each center should be able to process in a timely matter with only 2.75 adjudicators. I find it hard to believe that there are only 3 people in each office processing all the incoming K1s. And even if there were 3 there would no backlog.

This tells me that there are even less than 3 people in each center working on these. Even if they added one more person, they'd be able to rip through 30 additional a day.

If they added 10 people for a month, they'd be through 6400 petitions in a month. The last press release said they hired over 1300 people. How can none of these people be assigned to K1 duty???? The math, just like in Hillary's case, doesn't work out. They should not be going this slowly.

I read that they are not assigned on one type of visa. they will work on K1, K3, B1 visas and even citizenship applications. So, in order to represent the entire system, you would have to add every visa application, no matter what kind, into the equation. But even like that, I'm not sure the math would work out...

Ugh...my period just started and I only had one two weeks ago. I'm used to 5-6 weeks between periods; it's often late, but never early. Never been less than 4 weeks. Plus I feel a little woozy. I've checked and neither of those things is listed as a side effect of the MMR so, uh, maybe I'll blame the visa process on playing havoc with my hormones. wacko.gif

That's very strange... Do you take the pill? if you do, then that is strange that your hormones are all upside down. Unless the MMR could reduce the effect of the pill? some medications do that, but I doubt vaccines do.

And I tried to track the package on DHL (a little hard without knowing the exact day it left NVC). There forwarded 2 packages to Paris, France between May 22nd and today. I suppose our file is in one of them. The first one was delivered a week ago, the second one is "with delivery courier".

E_Dude, Congratulations! good.gif
And also congratulations for the other approvals!

Jeroen, Sunny, Blake, Heather and everyone else who is waiting here, you should receive it soon! (I know I already said it yesterday, but as dbears says, I can feel it!)

Rachel, what you did was bad! But it's probably worth it wink.gif

And for everyone who can't stand being away for their loved ones, either it's been 2 months or a year for the last visit, stay strong! it's the last struggle! just think of how wonderful it will be when you finally are together again smile.gif I haven't seen Bryan for 6 months, and there are still a few months to wait. When you feel sad, just think of the moment when you will see him/her at the airport next time smile.gif it usually puts a smile on my face to imagine his fingers touching my face after so many months of absence.

NVC got our petition. They sent us a letter, the date on the letter was May 22nd. yes, 8 days ago. i'm not sure when it arrived in the mailbox, but apparently no-one in the house where Bryan lives thought of giving it to him when they received it! grrrrrr I'm glad he's moving out in 2 weeks!
And they misspelled my name on that NVC letter... they wrote Cecil instead of Cecile (damn it's only 6 letters and no-one gets it right!). I guess I can't do anything to change it until I receive packet 3...

@Kim
I don't think I'll be a stay-at-home mom for very long. Maybe a year or two... but we never know, maybe he is going to find the best job in the world so I can stay at home longer.

Sometimes I wish we could have a baby soon... but this is not going to happen. He is not ready (and as he said, he probably never will so I'll have to let him know when I think it's the right moment tongue.gif) and he wants to go back to school again, so it's better to at least wait until he gets his degree... It should take 2 years. Then... he'll say he is not ready, that it's better to make sure he has a good job, but i'll make him accept it's the right time for a baby tongue.gif And I'll be the stay-at-home mom at the beginning (because that's always been my dream)

Well my friends, here is the post I've been waiting so long to publish:

GREIVIN AND I HAVE BEEN ISSUED OUR NOA2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The email came tonight at 7:15pm. I happened to be talking on the phone to my dad, giving him all the latest updates on other January filers, then I stopped mid-sentence when an email from CRIS popped up in my inbox. I said a couple bad words then told him i had received an email but my hand was frozen, I couldnt move the mouse to open it. He got all excited and told me to send it to him and he would open it! I opened it and started screaming/crying/hollering like a mad woman! He started yelling back "Courtney, I can't understand a damn word you're saying, is it good or bad!?!?!?!"

Once I got the words out and calmed down a bit, I told him obviously that it was good and we had been approved. Now, I just gotta track down my costa rican rainforest boy and tell him the wonderful news!

Anyway, I am SO thrilled to share the news with you all. I LOVE this thread and absolutely cannot wait until I see all my friends be right there along side us.

Random question that most people won't read until tomorrow. Once you're married and have applied for the AOS/EAD/AP...are you going to start looking for work right away and just let potential employers know that the EAD is applied for and coming or will you wait until you get it and then start looking?

Bryan told me that no company will want to talk to me until I have EAD, so I guess I won't start thinking about it until I get it.

Yeah that was this house LOL....well when we were done with house there was a parade right on that street so we watched that. We then went to the beach for a walk and then got icecream. Now we are home and I just got done chatting with Gareth.

I am off to take a nap now as feel extremely tired!!! What have you been up to today Cecile?

Never heard of that movie before... From what they say on Wikipedia, that would mean the house was falling apart?
Yesterday was a quiet day at work. Then I had an appointment with my doctor, she was late... the appointment was at 6:30pm, I left her office at almost 8pm! Then I spent the evening chatting with Bryan. He has started packing for his moving out in a few weeks. We're getting close!

Steven and Shirley, I'm sure HK will send it to Manila without too much trouble. Let us know when everything is back on track.

A new week begins at CSC. I hope that they will approve some late filers from 2007 and that they will start the second part of January filers!!

I was wondering if you could do something like write e-mails in both French and English, or maybe compile a small vocabulary list for him, or start off with a very few words - for example, getting him to greet you in French and say goodnight in French?

He knows how to say hello, goodnight, I love you, yes, no, my name is Bryan, what's your name. that's a good start smile.gif

QUOTE (Alex & Rachel @ May 23 2008, 05:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I don't know if it is just me, but I have real difficulty distinguishing distinct sounds in spoken languages, even sometimes in English. I watched anime regularly for years in the original Japanese language and picked up maybe one or two words. Other people picked up whole phrases! I've always found writing and reading easier.

It is not just you. Writing and reading is so much easier than understand what people say! I met some people in the USA that I couldn't understand (but Bryan said it's because they didn't speak good English). It's probably easier now, after spending so much time together, and it will be easier after more months in the USA. but it's quite scary to go to a country where I can only understand half of the people! tongue.gif

So maybe I'm going to start typing some of my emails in both languages, and then ask him to make small sentences (with the words I'll have explained in my emails) and if it's correct there will be a reward smile.gif tongue.gif

Waow!! I know what you're talking about...
When I was living with my fiancé, I tried to teach him French, but it didn't work out so much... sad.gif
First of all, does he want to learn French, is he motivated?
Josh knows some words, but that's all.
He, after trying with some books, bought a CD room, I would have to ask him what was the name of it!
It seemed to be a good way to learn French, but he wasn't doing it too frequently! He needs to really want to learn French! not me wanted him to speak French.

He says he wants to learn but he doesn't seem very motivated.
He bought a CD rom (with a book), played with it for a while and then forgot about it.

Not even married yet and she's already trying to change her man laughing.gif

... Of course if you set a reward system for his good efforts then he will be quite motivated to learn. It's an easier language to speak than to read (at least that's my take).

I'm not trying to change him, I'm just trying to make our life easier smile.gif and funnier smile.gif it would be great to be able to talk a language that no-one around us would understand.
And he knows he will have to learn at one point, because when we have kids, they will speak both languages. So, it's better if their dad can tell when they are insulting him wink.gif

I thought about the reward system. I think I'm going to think about it more, it could be a good way to do it wink.gif

I know that learning French is quite difficult (more difficult than learning English). And I think he knows it too. And Rachel, you are right, when you can't practice you forget how to use it. Last year we broke up for several months (won't go into details, I'm glad we realized we needed each others so much!) and when we first started to talk via the webcam and microphone I was scared I would not be able to understand what he says! but it worked perfectly laughing.gif

Cecile - I hear that it's not always the best idea to teach a significant other your language as if a lesson doesn't go too well, or someone ends up getting frustrated, it can lead to arguments. It might be best if Brian could sign up to a French course somewhere and then you help out at home by conversing with him in French. It will certainly be a great opportunity for him to practise with a native speaker, though!

I totally agree with that. He said he will take a class as soon as he can. But it would be fun to try to teach him a few things and... i'm bored right now tongue.gif that's why I was thinking of it now!

Alex hasn't managed to send me the affidavit of support yet. tongue.gif I asked him about it this morning and he said, 'I'll send it next week.' That's what he said last week!

lol, that's one thing that's already laying around, waiting for a date and signature... unfortunately only my fiance's version is ready though.. we want her mom to cosponsor (just in case since she only has one year of tax returns) but we didn't get her to do it yet (she is really busy lately so its understandable but yah, it would be great if she had it close to finished too hehe).

Bryan has gathered everything but the employer letter, and he still needs to get the I-134 notarized (but he filled it out already). He said he would do that this weekend. I hope he will send everything to me as soon as possible!

Rachel, Blake is right, there isn't anything to do between NOA2 and packet 3. Though I was wondering if we should try and contact NVC, just to know when they got (or will get) our package. Is someone here planning on doing it? I don't know how long to wait before to tell Bryan to call them.

I've got a nasty migraine today... actually it started yesterday but I could still manage to work. Today it is definitely harder.

Just having a mild 'eek do I really want to move to the US?' moment.

I have a couple of really fantastic friends here and I'm worried about having to begin friendships anew. I'm also not looking forward to having to sift through my belongings and work out what I want to sell and what I want to ship. I'm also concerned that items might be damaged or lost in the shipping; not that it'd be a disaster by any means - I don't really have anything precious - but it would be a pain. I have everything nicely set up as it is.

Also - and this is going to be hard to describe - I guess I'm feeling a lack of love lately. Not from Alex, I hasten to add, or from you guys in this thread. Just having a paranoid week where I keep wondering if I'm saying the right things, whether or not I've annoyed someone, whether people are secretly laughing behind my back; I know, it's ridiculous. Being all moody and tearful for no real reason.

Aww, don't worry Rachel, I am sure that everybody still loves you here smile.gif at least I do! And so far nothing you've said annoyed me or made me laugh (at least not in a bad way)
I'm sure this is only temporary and you will feel better soon.
And i'm sure you will make lots of friends and your life in the US will be awesome. Your friends in the UK will want you to tell them everything you do. it won't be exactly as it is now, but they will remain your friends smile.gif

tnx so much for taking time to give suggestion..we are 14 hrs apart time wise, its like when hes fully up im sleepy dork and when he feels so dead tired im the one hus so ready to talk. we talk everyday though i just cant have a patience sometiems whenever i hear his voice sounds so tired when he talks to me..it gives me a feeling that hes not excited to tlk to me.

i love him so dearly.

well, i guess an NOA2 for us will swipe this negative vibes in an instant whistling.gif

I read your story and from what you say, you do understand the situation: you know that he is tired. He may not sound excited to talk to you but he probably is. But he's too tired to show it. Don't put to much stress on him. And don't stress yourself with that either. Show him that you understand how he feels. Here is an idea, but I don't know if you would both be willing to do so, but maybe you should talk only once every two days. That way, when you don't talk together he can go to bed and rest, and the next day when he talks with you he won't be as tired.

It's strange to see that everyone feels down at almost the same moment.

It would be lying to say that I wasn't feeling down this past month. Even when they started to approve January people at the beginning of May, I was so sure that we would be one of the lost cases and that it would take several more months for us that I was feeling down too. I don't have good words to tell you to make you feel better. I know that nothing people said on this forum was making me feel much better when I was sad.
This is indeed a very hard process sometimes. I wish that your wait won't be too long.
The one thing that made me feel better at the end of the week was to think that another week had gone by and therefore we were closer to the end smile.gif
