K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJanuary Filers at the CSC - How are you doing?
Hello Sunnybear smile.gif
Yes I am very happy, now I am waiting for him to give me more details (yesterday he was busy unpacking and then his parents came, so I didn't get many emails) and to send me photos! I already know what it is going to look like since one of his friends live in the same apartment complex, and I went there 2 years ago, but I want to have photos of OUR place wink.gif
I'm still crossing my fingers for you, everyday I look at Igor's list to see if you and Gareth are on it (and I'm sure you will be very soon)

Oh ok. Thanks for clarification. It just seems weird to me that they can inject us several different "products" at the same time, but they're doctors, I bet they know what they're doing tongue.gif

Hurrah! kicking.gif

My arms ache horribly from yesterday's vaccinations! I didn't sleep well at all. Every time I rolled over onto one of my arms I was painfully conscious of it, but I don't sleep too well on my back.

That's something I was thinking about the other day. Shouldn't vaccines get done in different days? I mean, medically speaking, couldn't it make someone sick to have several different vaccines at the same time? (but maybe I am completely wrong, I was never good in biology classes tongue.gif )

So far, he said that the night was comfortable and quiet.

I still have a question though, hehe! what is the difference between I 864 and I 134? On the website of the Am.embassy in France it says that packet 3 contains I 864, but it looks the same as I 134 ....
Thank you!

I-864 is what is needed for AOS after the marriage, I-134 is what is needed for the K1 visa. It is written I-864 on the website embassy because it was previously used for K1 too. In packet 3, the paragraph about "financial information" contains a reference to the I-864, but they crossed it out and wrote I-134 on top of it. So, the form you need is the I-134. smile.gif
(it sounds like I know everything tongue.gif but that's not true: actually I was afraid we didn't fill out the right form, so it was a relief when I read what was written on packet 3)

Hi all-

I've never posted on this thread, but since we got our NOA1 on nearly the first day of January, I guess this is where I should have been for a while! :-)

We got our NOA2 on 30 May, which seems a lot later than a lot of your January filers, but we did get an RFE, which probably added two weeks or so.

...

Cheers all-
Cheryl

Welcome Cheryl and looks like you actually had a decently fast process! Especially with the RFE as well! I am one of the unlucky ones here waiting and waiting for the day our NOA2 arrives.....let us know when your man gets his interview date! Or is it you awaiting the date?

Welcome here Cheryl!

Hello Sunny! let's all hope that this week is yours smile.gif

Hi Everybody!!
Like Cécile, I received my packet 3 today!! kicking.gif kicking.gif
Things are going faster now, and I start to worry about selling some of my stuff, and I am happy about getting closer and closer from the day I will be with my sweet baby!! biggrin.gif
Like everyone here, I am still having good hopes that sunnybear or shes will get their NOA2 really really soon!!! It always sucks when some of the thread are left behind! Try to keep your good energy girls!!! We cannot wait to see you doing the happy dance! heart.gif

Hey Pam!

Congrats for your packet 3!
me I'm still desperatly waiting for my NOA2 (145 days)...But I'd like to know what's exactly in packet 3. Is there anything I can do while waiting? what forms and documents are needed?.... very anxious about it!!...
Hope you'll get your interview soon! : )

Hello Lucie

Here is the content of packet 3 in France (I got mine the same day Pam got it):
- a document telling you what you'll need to get (birth certificate, police record, divorce decrees if needed, financial docs: I-134 and its proofs, etc)
- the DS-230 part 1 that you'll have to send back to the embassy
- the DS-2001, which is a form stating that you have gathered all that is needed and that you now want an interview
- an "intent of marry" letter that you have to fill out but not sign, it has to be brought at the interview and signed in front of them (like the DS-156 and DS-156K)
- a document telling you what forms you'll have to bring at the embassy (DS-156 that you fill out online, DS-156K that they give you in the packet 3)
- instructions on how to get a police record and how to take good US-passport sized photos

Bryan and I had started preparing everything when we got NOA2:
- I asked him to fill out the I-134 and get it notarized, to get a letter from his employer, to get his tax transcripts and scan his last paychecks
- I got a birth certificate (by the way, in the packet they say that it needs to be less than 1 year old) and my police record. I had already taken the photos.
- you can fill out the DS-230, DS-156 and DS-156K (they're available here, but I waited until they sent me packet 3
- you can start gathering proofs of your relationship, even though they don't seem to ask for anything at the US embassy in France

I hope that will help you smile.gif

I agree with Don E.
Write her name on the DS-230, and maybe when you send it back, you can add a letter stating that you realized that you should have put her name on the I-129F but that at the time you filled it out, you thought it asked for the children who would come to the USA with you. Explain everything. It shouldn't be too big of a deal, since you were not trying to lie. smile.gif

I just received packet 3! kicking.gif
and I agree with you Rachel, they certainly don't look very professional. They even crossed out I-864 and manually wrote I-134.

laughing.gif Congratulations, though! I expect you'll return yours before I return mine...Alex says 'end of month'. Oh well, I couldn't afford to have the medical or interview this month anyway.

Thanks! I'd like to return it tomorrow morning. I have everything ready except the DS-156, DS-156K, DS-230, that I want to file today while at work (I don't have a printer at work so I have to print everything at work). But now that I took a look at the DS-230 that has to be sent back, I'm wondering if I have all the information to fill it out (example, list all the places where you lived: that's written on my G-325A but I don't think I have a copy here at work! I should have brought my big file here with me today sad.gif )

And on the DS-2001, they ask to put the case number, but it isn't written anywhere on what they sent me blink.gif should it be the USCIS case number? or the NVC one?

And also, they ask the address where I want to receive the appointment letter and I'm wondering if I should put my parents' address since I will probably be back over there at the middle of July, until I leave the country. so maybe that would be better...
Oh yeah and I also have to work this afternoon... Kinda forgot about that...

The friend is away for six weeks over the summer and would prefer if someone could house-sit for her. So I'm thinking the best solution would be for me to rent off friend, for cheaper (the room is smaller), sell/move my belongings, and clear the room in this house so boyfriend has somewhere to store his stuff. Hopefully a win-win situation all round!

Congrats for the Cabana!
And moving out now sounds like the best solution, everyone would be winning.

My ex-wife and I did it on the cheap back in '01. We married in Palm Springs, CA at the Moorten Botanical Garden for $300 on Palm Canyon Drive. Everything included (chairs, sun shade for guests, and free tour for guests to see cactii and Cactarium). We drove down the street to Palace of India restaurant and paid out $480 for 32 guests to dine for 3 hours. We were able to choose all of the great food in the buffet section, and the restaurant was happy that we wanted to hold our reception in their restaurant. 1 night in the Mission Inn in Riverside, CA for dirt cheap (in the Amistad room!!), and the next night everyone piled in my pickup and we drove to Tijuana where we partied like rock stars. Another cheap night out. The next morning everyone went with us to Disneyland. Then, we drove out the next day to Las Vegas to party/unwind. Great memories, but 1 year later, everything went downhill like a sinking (stinking?) ship. whistling.gif

Ahah it's like a 3 days long wedding! that must have been tiring!

My whole idea is not to stage a broadway production, just to keep it simple, elegant, and intimate. As the groom I understand that this is for her (most guys honestly would be happy showing up at the justice of the peace or eloping)

Simple, elegant and intimate, Blake, this sounds just perfect. Bryan is actually the one who said we HAD to have a ceremony and not just do it fast at the courthouse with a few friends. And he wants a wedding that doesn't look cheap. I didn't know what I wanted at first (knowing that most of my family wouldn't be there anyway, why would I plan something big?)
There is a thread on the Canada forum where they show their wedding pictures, and some were saying "I can't believe that at first I only wanted to do it fast at the courthouse! This wedding has been the best day of my life!". And to see all these pictures made me realize that he is right, we need to have that wonderful wedding next year, even though it will be relatively small, that will still be better than the courthouse. That is the wedding we will remember our entire life.

Jeroen, even though that dress doesn't look like a wedding gown, it is just beautiful! And wearing that Hawaii style shirt will complement it very well.

Good Morning All!

Personally, I think the huge mega weddings that cost $30- $45k are kinda rediculous and not about the importance of making a committment to one another - at that level it's more about keeping up with the Jones' rather than making a committment before God and family. Just me though.

Good morning Blake! it's good to see you again.

Actually, I was wondering how people can spend that much on a wedding. I mean, unless there are some plane tickets involved, or the location is in a very highly expensive castle (or something on these lines), what can make the budget so high?

On a different note, my SO called the NVC yesterday to see if they have received our stuff yet and unlikely to the stories which you read everywhere on this forum, my SO actually had a very busy sounding lady who didn't sound so nice and didn't want to spend too much time on it. See was obviously bothered by Michelle calling her sad.gif Anyways, she told Michelle that we will have to wait 2 to 4 weeks until they receive it, the maximum should be 90 days. She wont have to call as they will send us the papers and stuff. Bleh... weirdlo's... oh wellz, Michelle is gonna call again at the end of the week devil.gif

sad.gif I hope she'll be luckier next time she calls.
When Bryan called the NVC, he waited on the phone for a very long time and no-one ever answered, so instead he sent them an email. We got an answer 2 weeks later.

You can do the honeymoon later. Instead of having it right after the wedding, you could do it once you get the 10 year green card, that way you celebrate everything at once, and it gives you time to save money wink.gif

And now I can't concentrate on my work anymore... all I think about is weddings. wacko.gif

HI everyone wellll not sure if this will do anything for us or not but called USCIS today and got a really nice lady on phone! I told her how we had our wedding planned for September and how people in my online support group were already getting approved so just wanted to know if mine was even being looked at yet etc....so she took all my info including phone, addy, and email and even gave me a reference number (?) she said she was sending an email of inquiry or something to find out more about our case for me......

Soooo you think she was feeding me a line or you think this lady honestly will get in contact with whoever has our case sat upon their desk?! I cannot help but be excited but Gareth warned me not to which I know I shouldn't get my hopes up too high.....

I just want to see my mannnnn over a year is WAY too long sad.gif

She took your phone and email and everything? I don't know much how USCIS works (well, nobody does), but this sounds very good to me. I remember someone saying that he got an personal email from the person he talked to at USCIS telling him that his case was approved. This is much better than people who only get the "you should call back in 3 months" line...
Of course, Gareth is right, you shouldn't get your hopes too high, but still, I believe this is a good thing smile.gif

Bryan received his transcripts from the IRS less than a week after he ordered them. I believe they had told him it would take 2 to 4 weeks.

Oh! Good to know biggrin.gif Did he call, email or write to request them? Was there a fee involved?

He called them, spent 40 minutes on the phone waiting and then asked for the tax transcripts. I don't think there was a fee involved.

Hey everyone yup I hope to see an approval this week or next too haha! Sure would brighten things up! Interview went good today so fingers crossed there as well! Would be a challenge which I need!

That park looks gorgeous! Ok for my wedding links........seriously one of my faves is Martha haha...
Martha Stewart Weddings
It is kind of hard to search etc but believe me wealth of ideas! I also suggest just going to librarys and getting bridal magazines from there for inspiration! She had teh cutest ideas for Wedding in the Park etc in one of her mags so hopefully she has the pics online...if you cannot find I shall search out! Basically they had it catered but it was all in brown paper bags and then they spread blankets everywhere for people to sit upon picnic style etc...it was really cute looking!
We are doing ours for under 5,000 (fingers crossed!) as we def don't have the money to go all out! I am having family be the photographers and making a lot of our own things including centerpieces, appetizers, favors, etc...basically we are paying for catering meal, the location, and dj! So we are really hoping to stay well under our budget! Oh our friend is marrying us too!

Thanks for the link!
Right now I'm trying to decide if I should buy a veil or try to make one myself. it doesn't look very hard but I'm not sure if I can do it... Does anyone have tips about it? (and I'm going to look at the Martha Stewart, i'm pretty sure there must be something about how to make your own veil there!)
I'm (well, "We") also going to try to spend less than $5,000, and I'm just happy that it is going to be a good occasion to make lots of things myself smile.gif that should keep me busy once I arrive to the US and I can't work wink.gif

True, you'd better focus on packet 3 and the next steps for immigration.
Doing it in a garden sounds very appealing to me! We thought we'd do it in Bryan's friends' backyard but we're not sure about that anymore. the house is always quite messy and there are so many animals there that we doubt it's going to be clean someday! I'd like an outside wedding.
Though if you get married around Christmas (if that's still what you planned), maybe being inside would be better? even though the winter in California isn't as bad as Wisconsin or Illinois winters, it's probably going to be quite cold, isn't it?

Haha no worries, it is like irl with my name, everyone has a hard time pronouncing it when they're not Dutch lol.
...
But, who knows, it is only a short flight (well, about 5 hrs.. lol.. and thats the shortest trip to any mainland from Hawaii haha) so you might actually go there as well some day wink.gif

That's the same for me, it seems that people (who are not French) can't spell my name properly... they can usually do quite good with the pronounciation though.

Bryan and I started talking about our honeymoon a few days ago, and we're been thinking about going to Hawaii! Right now it's only a dream, it's not going to happen anytime soon (not until next year), but it seems like the best destination in the USA biggrin.gif

It has some fancy title like "Vocational Assessment Director" and I would be working at a Rehabilitative Services place. All I know is MORE money!!! Always good! My boss also gave me tips for interview as I guess the guy interviewing me is known to be kinda a sneaky jerk in interviews but otherwise is a cool guy. Uuuugh so the quiet, informal backyard wedding has been upped to a sit-down occasion at a local community hall, and now Alex's parents are suggesting we should have dancing. crying.gif

Rachel, we went from that intimate beachside wedding to the big 'to-do' with hundreds of people because Russell's family decided they would fly up from NZ to see us married. It actually weighed pretty heavily on us because it's not what either of us wanted but we were willing to adjust our plans to accomodate them. BUT, after a long talk with his family this weekend, we've decided on the intimate ceremony now and promised a big blow out next spring when airfare is cheaper for them (it's extremely expensive to fly to/from nz) and after we have more time to plan/save..etc. We are quite happy about this as you can imagine!

Even though it was a tad frustrating to me, the way I saw it at the time was how much they must love him to want to be there! I'm sure Alex's family feels the same. They want to share in his/your joy and celebrate your new lives together. Still, I couldn't help but worry about when, where and how we'd pay for it so soon after his arrival. I hope it all sorts itself out for you and that you find the day magical regardless of how it's done.

Even though I agree with the bolded sentence, I don't think you should let them decide everything for you. This is your wedding, not Alex's parents' wedding. Of course, don't tell them: "No, it's not what we want, we want the informal backyard wedding and you can't change that". But you should tell them that you don't feel comfortable with this big formal wedding. If you talk together, you can try to compromise. ok for inviting that many people but not ok to have the big dancing thing.
You just can't let them plan everything. You are going to feel like a doll that can't say anything, placed in the middle of a ceremony orchestrated by somebody else.
Talk with them.

Then yes if it's at the end of September you can wait until the end of June to see if you need to change it.
I have noticed several UK members here for whom it took around 2 months between NOA2 and the interview date, but I don't know if the ones I saw were exceptions or if it's 2 months for everyone. if it's two months, let's say you get your approval at the end of June (worst case scenario! I am pretty sure you'll have it before that!!!) then he can come at the beginning of September. But that's only assumptions... you should see with UK people how long it takes.
