Maybe I'm stupid but I still have hopes...

Good Morning All - ready for another big day of approvals?

MissYoko, I think Rachel said it very well yesterday or the day before about adjusting to the immediate aftermath of a visit. It took time for her to adjust back to the state of seperation, and I'm sure that you have had to go through the same thing. Like you, I do not spend much time in the VSC thread, however, my sense of "injustice" has largely faded and my focus is on the future. You're not stupid for being hopeful at all. Your approval will come, that is not in question - it's just the timing that is unknown. You can believe in that.

Cecile - I am so happy for you and Brian. While there might be some advantages to living in the same arrangements in his friend's house, the disadvantages are so much larger. I think one of the most important things that newlyweds can do is create their own identity ( a sense of "us" rather than just you + me ). That means the in-laws and sibs, friends and aquaintances should back off and allow the couple to find their own way. I've seen many times where couples have run into problems because of too much involvement by well meaning friends and family. Having a space of your own will allow you two to grow together. I don't think you'll have any problems making friends (you have one here already -me!). Congrats also for reaching 101 - by the end of the day you'll be sub-100, fantastic.

Without hope we would all be dead. So yes, hoping is definitely a good thing.

Yes we believe it will be better to have our own place to create our identity, as you said. I told him it would be even better if we could move in at the same moment, that way I would not feel like I am coming in his apartment (I'm sure that's the feeling I'll have the first days), but it would be way too difficult to organize. It will be great to put his stuff and my stuff in the same place. And to wake up when he goes to work, wait for him to come back for dinner, and do all these little things that 'normal' couples do smile.gif
He said he will buy a few ustensils he'll need (a few plates, forks and knifes, for example) but then I'll be the one choosing a matching set tongue.gif It's going to be so fun to go shopping to buy OUR items smile.gif

So, CSC, back to work! We January filers need our approvals! (well, everybody does)
That way we can be together soon and start shopping laughing.gif

They seem to be doing that again, it's Wednesday and we've already seen two approvals...plus all of the approvals from the last couple of weeks that suddenly showed up.

AH! Speaking of hope...I broke through the 200 mark sometime last night! I'm now 198 on Igor's list. YAY! goofy.gif

OMG why do I feel like it's Tuesday today? I was going to tell you that you were wrong, but then I checked and yes, it's already the middle of the week. bah my mind is probably playing tricks with me...

Congratulations on being 198! that's a small victory, but one small step, followed by another one, and then again and again, makes a big victory in the end smile.gif (and a beautiful wedding in that specific case tongue.gif)

Well a ton of us are already over the 90 day and 100 day mark for waiting........ sad.gif We are at 101 currently and I know there are loads more of us that have been waiting over 90 days! Some sadly over 200 days!!! So yeah here's hoping Cali starts kicking them out here in May and ends some of our misery!

I know...I just meant that when I hit 90 days was when I would admit that I was hoping to hear something. I'm not sure if that makes sense when I say it out loud...it was just pointless to even hope before that. I figured I would start admitting to myself that I hoped to hear something at three months...and I'd start really looking for something at four. smile.gif

I understand what you mean aravis227. When we hit 3 months I started telling myself: "ok that will be 4 months then". And now, we are going to hit 120 days soon... so I'm going to hope for an approval before 150 smile.gif

Hello MissYoko
Don't worry, the approvals will start again and soon we will be telling all our friends that we are approved! (even though half of them won't know exactly what it means tongue.gif)

Having our own place would be awesome, yes. At the same time, being close to his friends would have had its advantages too: I wouldn't feel too lonely while he's at work, there would always be someone with a car to drive me wherever I want tongue.gif, and it would be easier to become friends with all of them. Or we would all hate each others and end up killing someone tongue.gif
I'm sure he will find a wonderful place smile.gif

Yes, your boss's son is going to be very disappointed if the only games he can play are minesweeper and solitary... :S

Welcome Pandora01!

There are 18 October filers, 22 November filers and 58 December filers left from what Igor's list says. And then, it's our turn! (well, that would be if CSC was processing in the right order of course). It feels so good to wake up and see some new approvals!

I've been having troubles to sleep lately. Thinking too much isn't good I guess tongue.gif

So, it seems that Bryan and I will get an apartment instead of living with at his friends' house (where he's currently living) He said everyday there are more things he dislike about being there, either the barking of the dogs, people waking him up in the middle of the night, the mess, etc. And I made a list of our future expenses and all in all, it should be feasible. And that way we will have our own place smile.gif yesterday one of his emails said: "I'm so very happy that we are really starting to plan our life together!" It makes me so happy too smile.gif

Once you get your visa and he will be working, you can spend your entire days playing to GTA 4! then he'll be the jealous one, even though he's already played it devil.gif
Or a better way to do if you don't want to buy it but you still want to play soon, is find a friend who is going to buy it, and spend all your time at his/her apartment/house.

CC (which stands for Cecile the Canary devil.gif ) I'm starting to get excited for you. Right now you're 104 on Igor's list (after another Nov. approval today) so soon you will be crossing the 100 line - which based on what I've seen puts you on the fringe of possible approval. It will not be too long for you now 2-3 weeks - assuming, of course, that the CSC gets back to its old pace of 21-25 per week. I'm sending all positive energy off to California. Start chirping good.gif

Yes ! it's so good to see another approval! Well, I was 107 two or three weeks ago already, so I guess I'll start chirping I go from 104 to 95 in less than a week, because that will mean CSC starts working hard again! I really hope, for all of us, that they will be approving 25 petitions a week.
Does anyone know a witch? Maybe a spell or two would help them go back to work! biggrin.gif

Well I am def in depression mode again as we hit the 100 day mark this weekend. BLAH. May we will have hit the 1 year mark of not seeing one another in person.....sorry but that is way too DAMN long for no physical contact in my book sad.gif We want this approval so bad we can taste it! I just soooo want the end in site.....nothing to do but wait and wait though at this point....get so sick of people asking "so have ya heard anything?" umm NO do you not think I would be shouting from the rooftops if we had?! OY VEY!

I totally agree... everytime I want to tell "if I had heard anything you would already know it, then stop asking!". But that's only when I'm in a bad mood.
Rachel it's totally OK to say that you're feeling fine, in this whole process.
April was the depression month for me. it was the 100 day mark, CSC stopped working and Bryan got a new job, which means new schedule and we can only talk together once a week now, unless I wake up in the middle of the night (which is something I may do this week). VSC January filers started getting the K1 visa, and even though I was very happy for them it still made me sad for myself. And on top of that, a few other problems or decisions to make: a trip to plan with my mother that now that we have planned everything we can't do anymore, a decision to make about where we're going to live in the USA (well this one hasn't been made completely yet but that's still stressful).
I'm also trying to decide if I should go back to the US before the visa, but since I can't leave work until the middle of June, if we get NOA2 soon then that's almost not worth it... oh well... we're going to wait and see.
That's why I'm waiting for May smile.gif it will be all better when CSC is back on track and I'll get used to seeing Bryan on the webcam only once a week. Cecile/Miss Yoko - I was having a conversation earlier about pet names and that reminded me of what my mother calls her children. You might get a kick out of this! My mother used to be very good at French and had a French pen-friend she saw regularly (and still does) but there are still many words she doesn't know. (Once, when she was 17 and staying with her French friend, she wanted to communicate at the dinner table that she was full. Unfortunately she used a phrase which was also slang for 'I'm pregnant'. Cue a shocked dinner table!) Anyway, two of the words she uses as pet names are 'poubelle' and 'chou-fleur'. Even when she discovered what they meant, she still continued to use them because she thought it was so funny. laughing.gif

"poubelle"? laughing.gif that's definitely not a pet name we would use!
The "chou-fleur" reminds me something though. We wouldn't use it as a pet name but we do use "chou". One translation is "cabbage", the other one is some creamy dessert that is really good (I suppose the pet name comes from the dessert tongue.gif) When Bryan discovered that it made it laugh big time! But apparently in the USA "pumpkin" is a pet name so that's still worse than 'chou' laughing.gif

i found this couple whos originally a september filer who got approved and made an " expedite request"..can anybody tell me wat this expedite request is? and is that some sort of a special request that a filer can apply for? OUR application was mistakenly sent to CHICAGO and i just wondered upon reading the post who was approved through that expedite thingy, does uscis makes a special processing for those applications that was mistakenly sent to a different SC?? then why the heck our application hasnt approved yet?

I'm not sure how this works, but I would guess it would be something to do when you first send your I-129F package, not several months later. But maybe I am wrong. I suggest you to ask it directly in the K1 forum and not on the January CSC filers here. You will get more answers (unless some people here know exactly how it works?) The "search feature" might be useful too. Sorry I can't help you more.

Oh yeah! I asked for your hobbies but didn't tell you mine :S
I've been playing the piano for 15 years but kind of stopped in the past 2-3 years. Sometimes I tell myself I need to practice again but I feel easily discouraged. I've never been able to improvise but I love to sight-read (that's what the dictionary says, sorry if it's wrong) music sheets.
Music has always been a big thing in my life but I find myself listening less and less music. I go to concerts sometimes.
I have also done some calligraphy.
But my problem is that there are always 10000 things that interest me and I never go deep in any of them. I'd love to do so many things that I end up doing nothing.

Hey, we've already had two, kinda - the first one was in January and was a Cuban petition, and the second one was a January refiling of a petition originally submitted in September but screwed up by the USCIS.

So aside from the 1.68% of January filers approved, we're all waiting anxiously for Cecile and Bryan to get their approval. Those two are the proverbial canaries in the coal mine. When they go, we should know we're not far behind. cool.gif

yeah... I don't even hope that the January filers start seeing approvals soon, I'm just hoping that CSC is going to start working on K1 petitions very soon sad.gif

So you're waiting for us to get our approval, so you will know when yours is going to come? I'm waiting for more December approvals because we're almost December filers tongue.gif

So what is that proverb with canaries in a coal mine?

LOL most Americans don't even know how to use English properly wink.gif Happy to be part of such a busy thread....and will be even happier once more Jan approvals start popping up good.gif

So very true!

If you use Firefox it comes these days with an automatic spellchecker that underlines misspelled words as you type. Now, I pride myself on being a pretty decent speller, but there are still times when I come across a word I've not used in a while or I make a typo. Since the spellcheck doesn't automatically correct words but merely underlines them I'm forced to go back and make the corrections myself, and I've actually learned how to spell correctly a couple of difficult words that way. I suppose spellchecks aren't always entirely useless!

Well, another couple who met on the same forums that Alex and I met on were married last weekend - they're going to file a K3! Actually, when we marry we'll be the third couple to have met on the forums to marry - the first couple moved to Canada where it sounds like the process was a lot easier. tongue.gif

My automatic spellchecker on Firefox is for French, so everything I type here is underlined laughing.gif I should try to configure it to English too.

About Americans don't know how to use English properly, that is something Bryan tells me very often. Actually, he knows a lot of vocabulary but most of the time doesn't know how to spell them. And it's the opposite for me: I have a lot less vocabulary but I usually spell almost everything right (and I correct what he writes too). Of course his grammar is a lot better than mine!

Ooh hope today and tomorrow bring several or LOTS more approvals! I told Gareth I am hoping and praying we get ours by my birthday (June 8th) he said "I want it by mine!" (his is this Sunday LOL!). I am so ready to start seeing January approvals! Got so excited yesterday to see those even though they were expedited cases it was still exciting to see January 2008 approvals on the board! Well off to work I go! Have a great day everyone!

I'm the one crazy about the approvals. He never checks the USCIS website neither Visa Journey or Igor's list. He says that once we'll be approved we'll get the letter (NOA2) so there's no need to check all the time. Sometimes it almost sounds like he doesn't care when we get it biggrin.gif But he's probably right anyway. As long as we get the visa before the end of the year, everything's fine.
On the other hand he really wants me to come to visit him before we get the visa. So it's not as if he didn't want to see me tongue.gif

Maybe that's true, maybe the processing time is only a random number. But anyway, even though it is frustrating at times, it's best to try not to focus on it too much. Of course we would all like to know what they are doing, we would all like them to work faster, to make K1 petitions be their priority, we would all like to be with our loved ones and family. I was pretty frustrated about all this the past weekend. But becoming mad at them isn't going to change anything. In the end, that is still the same, it doesn't matter if they know what they do or not, it doesn't matter who they start with, we will always have to wait.
Tell me, other than checking the USCIS website and VJ and Igor's list, what else do you do to make time go a little faster? What are your hobbies?

I don't think that theory works like that.. not everyone updates their timelines right away, some dont check their mail or the uscis website right away, resulting in a not exactly correct figures in the list... nevertheless is the list still a great thing to hold on.

about the week being halfway.. that's what it is called when it is wednesday (when considering workdays monday till friday).. it is indeed tuesday on wednesday night in the us but they dont work at night either atm smile.gif

Well, that theory was only for people who check the uscis website 20 times a day of course! usually by the end of a week, there is for example 15 approvals and if you check two weeks later it's 20. The theory was only for the 15 who checked everyday tongue.gif but I know that doesn't work well either.

The couple that was approved yesterday was on expedite. It does not mean they are going to leave oct/nov/dec petitions in one room and start with January, don't worry. You'll get your approval someday.

Hello sunnybear!
I wonder how Igor's list works exactly. I mean, it's obvious that the data is not directly taken from the VJ database since their 'hope' date is still there. Which means it's somewhere in the cache. And then once an hour they look in the database for new approvals and add them in the cache? Anyway, as long as the code does bring all the new approvals, then it's Ok I guess!
Cecile and BryanFemaleFrance2008-04-23 05:04:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJanuary Filers at the CSC - How are you doing?
The week isn't half way for Igor's list.
Right now it is Wednesday, almost noon in Europe, so that means it is the night between Tuesday and Wednesday in the USA. Which means USCIS has worked two days this week so far.
People who were approved Monday might have discovered their approval Tuesday, and people who were approved Tuesday will discover today when they wake up. So that would mean that on Igor's list there are only approvals from Monday.
And..... I just checked on Igor's list and that isn't true: the NOA2 dates are 03/22 which is yesterday, and not Monday sad.gif So my theory doesn't work in practice.

It's a good thing those H1-B's get priority too. With the economy booming as it is and unemployment at a 231 year low, Fortune 500 companies need as many new employees as they can get, and they need them yesterday! Gas has never been cheaper, quarterly results are pouring in and everyone is beating estimates by double digit percentages, I haven't heard of mass layoffs in... forever, and the dollar is at an all time high world wide.

In fact, I can't think of anything more important to the health of the nation and the long term prospects of the human species than corralling as many people as you can as fast as you can who will work for 50% of market rates, then giving the other 50% to yourself as a performance bonus. Thank God we are blessed with a government that has its head on straight and knows how to prioritize.

laughing.gif yeah...

Anyway, CSC worked on two expedite I-129F yesterday, so maybe that means they are going to work on K1 petitions this week smile.gif

Hello everybody
Hope everyone had a good weekend. And I also hope that CSC workers had a good weekend too and that they will be workaholics this week and approve many petitions! Actually, I'm not asking for "many". Just more than the previous 2 or 3 weeks.

lunabean, thank you for your advices.

Right now I'm trying to stop thinking of this process. Strangely enough, it seems that it started to really have a bad influence on me last week. Well, that's probably because of the slow pace of these 3 last weeks, and the fact that January filers at VSC are having their interviews and visa approvals. And also my mother doesn't stop asking me if there's anything new for the visa, and there isn't.
So if I'm not online as often as usual, don't worry I'm not dead, it's just that I need a break and that I'm trying to do other things with my free time.

They never did it on purpose! they tried to make me communicate with the other characters and tried not to make me die, but it never worked! I hope that won't be the same once I get there in real life laughing.gif

laughing.gif I can't wait until I can sleep naked again!

It must be fun to watch all those Sim people who have names of people you know! Bryan and his roomates did that too, with all of them, including me, and in the end I always ended up dying or staying alone in the basement! :/

I got the new job!!!!! I am so ecstatic but also nervous! My boss said to def jump for the chance and show them what I can learn and do! It is at Michigan Rehabilitative Services building and I will be the new Vocational Assessment Coordinator! Fancy title aye? Don't ask me what I will actually be doing as really don't know 100% yet haha! What is scary is they said "we want to try Stephanie until September and see how she does" so yeah basically I really need to show my stuff! My current boss said she would be happy to take me back if it did not work out though so not too worried besides of course humiliation if it doesn't work haha....I have no idea on details on when I start or pay but my boss told me several times it would "be a substantial raise" soooo I am EXCITED!!!!

Now to get approval and this would be best week EVER! haha

Woohoo Congratulations Sunny!!!

At the same time, I also remember people saying it took almost a month for their case to reach NVC after NOA2. that's probably going to be the case for you. Apparently you are not the only one who was approved at the end of May and who is still waiting for NVC to get the petition, so that probably means they sent them late.

USCIS processings are quite random. they don't approve petitions in chronological order, I wouldn't be surprised if they waited longer to forward some petitions to NVC. But I would still call USCIS, to know if they really forwarded it or not, and when. I don't want to scare you, but I have read about people whose case was lost by the post office between USCIS and NVC.

it's strange that NVC doesn't have your case yet. maybe you should give a call to the USCIS to know if they have sent it already?

Hello Sunnybear smile.gif
Yes I am very happy, now I am waiting for him to give me more details (yesterday he was busy unpacking and then his parents came, so I didn't get many emails) and to send me photos! I already know what it is going to look like since one of his friends live in the same apartment complex, and I went there 2 years ago, but I want to have photos of OUR place wink.gif
I'm still crossing my fingers for you, everyday I look at Igor's list to see if you and Gareth are on it (and I'm sure you will be very soon)
