K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresKorean police certificates - Philippines embassy

So, once it's pointed out, still a problem?

possibly this thread (and for certain one other that is active) are apparent reflections of the fact that Manila is not yet accepting the "unavailable" for not those not present in South Korea despite having this pointed out to them.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresKorean police certificates - Philippines embassy

Unless one is physically present in South Korea, a police certificate is not available. The Consular Officers in Manila and everywhere else know this, so no worries. Scroll down. From http://travel.state....5.html?cid=9223

It is a worry because too many times this information is NOT automatically known by the US Consulate until it is pointed out to them

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhich embassy processes the K-1 visa application (Czech Republic)

Thanks.

Contacting the Embassy in London however is easier said than done. The phone number can't be called from outside the UK and the email address sends an automatic response saying my mail has been deleted unread. Any suggestions?

I would go over to the UK forum and ask this. There was once a trick to the e-mails by including your LND number in the subject line but don't know or remember exactly

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhich embassy processes the K-1 visa application (Czech Republic)

Hi,

I am a British Citizen living in the Czech Republic and have recently had my I-129F approved. On the I-129F petition my address is clearly stated as in the Czech Republic and I put Prague for the embassy where I would apply for my visa. This week I received a letter from the NVC saying the case will be processed in London.

Is this correct due to me being a British Citizen or have they messed up? I can't imagine a British Citizen living in Australia for example being asked to travel to London for their interview.

If they've messed up, do I have to take action to get it fixed or will it fix itself? The Embassy in London seems to be impenetrable when it comes to getting information.

Thanks.

It has nothing to do with your citizenship... somehow based on the information provided they made a determination (however wrong) that your current place of residence was in the UK...

If you want the interview in Prague, you need to contact London to get it transferred. It will NOT correct itself

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresInterview and POE

Hold on :), Even though she is switching from an international flight to a domestic flight, all of her bags will proceed to DCA (Washington). Why will she need to go through customs twice? Hmmmm, definitely am in need for more information. If there is a need to go through customs in Miami, I will definitely be meeting her there. Anymore info on this topic is greatly appriciated.

not a need, a requirement... It will be Miami if the pre-clearance facility is not used in Aruba... otherwise it will be in Aruba

Call the airline and ask what happens in Aruba

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresInterview and POE

Hello All, We finally have our interview date of 06/14. My fiance is almost 6 months pregnant so the wonderful people at the consulate in Brazil gave us a little help with the date so she would not have to fly deep into her pregnancy. I have a couple of questions concerning the flight to the POE. I have traveled extensively and remember a few times where I have had to literally go from one terminal to the other to catch a connecting flight. I was wondering if anyone ever had this happen during a fiance's flight to the POE? If so, was there any grief while traveling to the POE under a K1. Her layovers are in Paramaribo, Aruba and then Miami. All very short layovers so I am hoping not too much distance between gates. I know-alot of layovers but the ticket was irresistable! Only 16 hours travel time and $670 from Brazil to Washington DC. I paid $560 for a flight from Belem to Rio :). Okay, now for a second question, I will be meeting her at the airport in Washington DC. Will it be possible for me to obtain a gate pass so I can escort her through customs? Thank you all so much for the time and any information you can provide. Best of luck to you all

No gate pass is possible for escorting through customs and immigration, and she won't be going through customs and immigration in DC... It will either be in Aruba if the airline uses the CBP Pre-clearance facility or Miami if they don't.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-2 Visa for Fiancee's child.

Okay, so, my fiancee is in Ukraine and we have about finished her I-129F and all the assorted forms and evidence. However, my question is, what do I need to do for her 10 year old? I know she will need a K-2 Visa, but what forms do I fill out and submit? Do I submit them at the same time as the I-129F package? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

include by name only on the k-1's i-129f. separate visa applications are made after petition is approved

Same as any other person including the medical & visa fee. In additon the mother will need to get a passport for the child of course. And a letter in both languages signed by the father allowing the child to emmigrate. The embassy may supply a sample of the letter if asked. The follow up fees in the USA will also be the same.

follow up fees are different

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAruba POE information needed

You should read the post before replying. Has nothing to do with foriegn nationals doing thier job. Has to do with trying to get my fiance who speaks little english and is late in pregnancy through an airport she knows nothing about and through a process she has never been. All in a 2 hour window and still able to catch her connecting flight. Was only asking for help from people who know the process in Aruba. Have you been through the process in Aruba? If not, find another topic to unload your useless smartass remarks

Maybe you should read more clearly...

First of all I am the one who told your uninformed self that Aruba is where the POE activities will occur. I have more a clue about the process than you.

Do you honestly think your situation is a first? Don't be ignorant to think that your fiancee is somehow the first non English speaking traveler to come to the USA who is unfamiliar with the airport and POE process and is pregnant. The POE handles situations similar to your fiancee's frequently and are equipped to handle NON-ENGLISH speaking travelers. They do it EVERY DAY.

Aruba = a small airport. Two hours will be fine.

Consulate specific answer required but typically they do not need a separate interview. The K-2 approval is automatic once the K-1 is approved.

Hey guys,
I know this question has been answered over and over. But I just want to check out few things since I'm getting too nervous.... I'm visiting my fiance within 2 weeks and we've only gotten the NOA1. We have been apart for 6 months.
So I'll be flying to California and flying back to Spain from Texas. I already got the return ticket so I'll show it in case they ask about it. My question is: will flying from different places in USA a problem at the POE?? My POE is Charlotte NC. Does anyone have experience at that POE? I'll be only in the USA for 3 weeks since I have to go back to work.
Also, I'll be bringing more stuff to prove I have to come back... My employer's letter expecting me to come back in the middle of June and the original NOA1. Should I bring anything else???
Thanks in advance to all of you,

Just when I thought it was all over, I was hit with a whammy! I currently work in the middle east and my fiance is currently in Bulgaria. I was scheduled to be back in the US in Aug, and then she would arrive in Sept. A few days ago my employer told me that they may need me to relocate to Germany. This would have been great news last year before I sent the visa off as she doesnt need one to come to Germany. If I do move to Germany, how would the visa situation work? I was told that once she comes to the US, she cannot leave for a few months... is that true? Or if she never enters the US, how hard would it be to reapply for the visa 2-3 years from now?

If she comes to the USA she can leave.. the problem is returning. In order for her to return to the USA she would need a new visa.

If she never comes to the USA, it is not a problem. She just needs a new visa when you are ready.

Either way she needs a new visa when you decide to come

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTwo different sets of instructions

I successfully crossed into the US on May 30th with my K1 Visa (horray!) and we're all set to get married next week. My question relates to the instructions for what comes next.

- my "Welcome to the United States" paper received at the Consulate (Montreal, Canada Consulate, if that matters) states that my Social Security Card will come to me immediately in the mail, if I requested it on the appropriate form (which I did).

- my "K1 Visa Instructions" letter from the border crossing itself states that I must go into the Social Security office to obtain my card, only after I marry

- my "Welcome to the United States" letter says that I may work as soon as my SSN is issued, usually within 2 weeks of entry.

- my "K1 Visa Instructions" letter from the border crossing says I may work only after I (get married, file more papers then) go into the social security office to apply for a car and then wait 6-8 months to receive the card.

SOOOO... which is set of instructions are correct? And what the heck am I supposed to be doing now?

the ones from the border

Did your K1 Visa and entry suffice as proof for your eligibility JeannieL? I ask because at first glance it looks like I can't even go in until after my EAD?

"In general, only noncitizens who have permission to work from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) can apply for a Social Security number."

"Social Security will ask to see a current DHS document. Acceptable documents include:

•Form I-551 (includes machine-readable immigrant visa with your unexpired foreign passport);
•I-94 with your unexpired foreign passport; or
•Work permit card from the Department of Homeland Security (I-766 or I-688B)."

A k-1 is eligible to apply for a SSN up to day 76 after entry into the USA

Hi vj members :)

Our application was sent back to us with a letter saying that the application was rejected due to wrong amount in the check.

Here are my questions:
1. I sent in $350. How much exactly is it supposed to be?

2. I noticed some errors on my G325a. When i resubmit the application, i plan to include a new edited form but my concern is that uscis stamped all the pages in the initial application. What's the right thing to do here? Maybe send a revised one with an attached letter explaining the error and they should disregard the old g325a?

Anyone with a similar situation please share your experience.

Thanks in advance!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat to send to your fiance(e) once the I-129F is approved

Perhaps someone can answer this for me.
I've got my I-129F package put together, and I've assembled a duplicate (Copy) to send along to my Fiancee once the NOA2 is done.

My question, is what is the duplicate I-129F used for? Is it just in case something goes missing? I'm just considering if I should bother reprinting out

Please advise.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDutch Police Certificate

I currently live in korea and I need a police certificate from the Netherlands because I've lived there for 3 years. I've read on the internet that it's not possible to request it myself so the consulate in Korea has to request it for me. I also read on a dutch website that it is possible to request it myself. I have no idea which is true. Does anyone have more information about this? Please let me know ASAP.
Thnk you~

According to the Department of State:

Police Records

Available. Police records can only be requested for immigrant visa applicants by the United States Consulate or Embassy where the applicant's case is being processed. Any certificate presented directly by applicants cannot be accepted. To request a police record, the visa processing post should send an email to the Consulate General in Amsterdam at ImmigrantVisasAMS@state.gov. The request must include:

Applicant's full name(s) including aliases:
Date, city/town and country of birth;
Complete address of last residence in The Netherlands.

The Consulate General in Amsterdam may need up to 15 working days to obtain the certificate, provided there is no derogatory information concerning the applicant. If there is derogatory information it may take up to five weeks.

The certificate, which is in the Dutch language, covers criminal investigations only. Criminal records are expunged after a number of years, depending on the offense, following termination of the case (i.e., after service of any prison sentence) provided no other offense is committed in the interim. Police records may, therefore, not constitute a full summary of criminal records. Applicants with a criminal history can obtain their own conviction record from the sentencing court.

These certificates may be used only in processing immigrant visa applications and may not be given to the applicant or to any private individual. The visa applicant may not be informed of the source of any derogatory information contained in the police certificate.
