K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTraveling during the K1 application process

Hi my fiancee while waiting for approval for the I-194 K-1 wants to go on vacation to Turkey. Will this effect her eligibility for coming to the USA? Will it slow down the process?

applying for a US visa does not put handcuffs on your life. it will only slow down the process if she is still in Turkey and the petition arrives in Kiev thus delaying her ability submit the application forms until she returns

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNecessary Translated Documents for K1 Visa in Ukraine

Hello,

My fieance is in Mykolayiv, Ukraine, and since we will be dealing with the embassy in Kiev, the Embassy web site states that all documents that they accept can be in Ukrainian, Russian and English. In other words, my fience does not need any translated documents for the purpose of taking medical exams, going to the interview, receiving a VISA and then entering the States. Correct? I can see the customs in the States, wanting to see some English documents, but that's about it. Everything else can be translated here in the States.

Please clarify this for me: in Ukraine, what does the fience/e need in terms of translated documents in order to perform all necessary embassy, medical and travel arrangements? I wanted for my fience to translate all of their official documents, passports, medical records, university diplomas, etc., into English. Is this the correct route?

My fience went to a notary service in Ukraine today and wanted to have her passport and birth certificate translated, but they told her that they need to be OK'd through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kiev. That's a train ride to Kiev for more fees and an official OK ... do I have this right?

Please clarify the process for me, if someone has done this and knows what the route is. I will call the US Embassy in Kiev tomorrow and ask them personally, what they will need.

Thank you very much!

Customs will not need any translated documents. Passport control will not need any translated documents.

Have you looked at her international passport? It already has English transliteration.

Tell your fiancee to go to a different translation bureau, her BC does not need special permission to be translated (different than notarized). She does not need this for Kyiv but maybe helpful to have some of these important documents translated for other purposes after her arrival in the US.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNecessary Translated Documents for K1 Visa in Ukraine

You absolutely need translation. Notarization is not necessary but certification is.
1) Foreign passport - biographical page
2) Birth certificate
3) Police Certificate
There are 2 routes:
1) You can ask someone who is russian/ukrainin speaking in US to do translation and certify and sign that they are fluent in both.
2) Ask her to notary translate in Ukraine those three documents. If done in Ukraine this is the easiest.

no, no, no. The Kyiv consulate will accept these without translation if they are in English, Russian or Ukrainian...

OP:

Best to take answers from those who are familiar with Kyiv.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPrevious J-1 and HRR. Though: with different name

You must do this. Lying or withholding the truth is called material misrepresentation and will get you a lifetime, unwaiverable ban from the US. HRR starts when you leave the country.

HRR actually starts when you begin to reside in your country... not depart the USA

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPrevious J-1 and HRR. Though: with different name
1) HRR (home residency requirement) means 2 years after you complete

2) of course you need to mention it. One part of the visa application is for you to detail all your names since birth

Yes, it's no problem for him to take some unpaid leave from his job. If the normal three weeks he takes is not sufficient. He has workth 15 years with this company and has many benefits

you will need to check with your consulate as to the alien self support option. London does it but am not sure who else allows

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 question

My fiance makes very good money at his overseas job. He works 6 weeks, and has three weeks off. After our marriage, he wants to continue this job, and simply come here to the US during his 3 weeks off instead of to what will be his former country.

I have always made enough to satisfy the I-134, but recently resigned by job so that I could spen the next month doing some work on my home to rent it. Our plan is to relocate to another state, and I am the one making the preparations for this. In the next month, I will begin looking for work in the area of our new residence. Right now, my fiance is supporting us with his income.

It's possbile I'll already to back to work by the time his interview comes around - we are jsut now submitting the petition - but if not, will we require an I-134 be completed? He makes a 6-digit salary in euros, and has no intention to leave this job unless he had a very goo opportunity here in the states. Is this, with his large savings, enough to satisfy that he will not be a public buredn? Or is it best to wait a few months until I am working again to submit this petition? We are eager to start our married life.

You do realize that there will be several weeks to many weeks after he arrives before he will have the proper documentation to be able to leave and re-enter the USA?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPolice certificate from Russia (URGENT!)

Hey there,

I hope someone who has gotten their police certificate from Russia can help me. I got my police certificate from Malaysia which is my country of origin and my current residence, but i did spend almost 7 years studying in Russia. Is a police certificate from Russia absolutely necessary? If yes, How do i get one?

I'm panicking because i overlooked this and my interview might be in a month from now.

Any information will be a huge help...especially from Russian VJ-ers.

Police and Prison Records

Available. Russian law (MVD Order no. 965, dated November 1, 2001) mandates that the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) provide police certificates both to Russian citizens and to foreigners who have lived or are living in Russia. The law states that in Russia, MVD offices must provide the certificate within 30 days. Those residing outside of Russia, both Russian citizens and non-citizens, may either delegate a Power-of-Attorney to apply for the certificate on their behalf in Russia, or apply directly to the Russian Consulate. Police certificates should note all names that the person has used in Russia, and should note the MVD branches in all locations that were queried.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresexpired papers?

hey everyone,

me and my fiance are planning on filing for the k-1 visa next week. next week will be the end of june and I looked on the USCIS site for the updated and proper forms to download and fill out and the expiry date is the last day of june. im canadian and im the beneficiary so the papers i need to fill out are saying online that they will be expired by next week. I dont understand, thats all they have online and if i fill out those biography papers that i need to fill out and send them in to my fiance for him to file for me will we be denied because the papers are expired? i wish USCIS were better at updates on this.

please let me know if you know the answer to this! thank you very much!

OMB expiration is not important. What you want to look at is the current edition that they are accepting and also if they are accepting previous versions as well. For example:

Form............................Form #......Fee.............Version......................
Biographic Information.....G-325A.......$0......06/12/09. Previous editions accepted.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRegarding Medical Exam

Hey all you visa journey members,

I just had a quick question about the medical exam prior to the interview, we are pretty sure that my fiancee has HPV and she was wondering if they are going to either fail her exam or deny her visa because of it, does anyone have any experience with this situation?

Thanks,

Dear fellow VJers,

At the embassy interview, do you give the CO copies or originals of the Boarding Passes, Reciepts, ect...

I worry if I were to give them the original Boarding Passes and Receipts, and for some reason the visa is not approved, then they might keep the originals with them and I am left with no original Boarding Passes and Receipts that I might need for a second round at the finace visa process.

Thanks

you give them copies.. if they ask for an original, give them the original and a copy and let them review it and then ask for the original back...

Yes

For the PI

Police records

Available and reasonably reliable. Philippine-born immigrant visa applicants 16 years and over are required to furnish certificates issued by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). The green NBI certificate annotated for travel abroad is the correct certificate. Other colors are for local use only. Foreign-born applicants who have resided in the Philippines for six months or more may be issued NBI clearances upon application either in person or by mail. Applicants residing outside the Philippines should send requests for certificates together with money orders or bank drafts for the fees and postage to IRD-Mailed Clearance Section, National Bureau of Investigation, Taft Avenue, Metro Manila, Philippines. Philippine Embassies abroad can assist Filipinos in obtaining NBI police clearances. The NBI has its own fingerprint charts and personal data forms that it will send to the requesting applicant for execution. Most applicants abroad find it more expeditious to have a relative or friend in the Philippines assist them in obtaining their certificates from the NBI. In that instance, a letter of authorization is required. The applicant may also submit a copy ("personal copy") of a prior NBI clearance to facilitate the processing of a new clearance. Posts are advised that not all arrests and convictions occurring outside of Manila are reported to the NBI. NBI's criminal records database is not foolproof and the remarks provided on reports require explanation.*Manila and major Philippine cities have computerized records.
Fees

Application in person: 115 pesos

Application by mail: 200 pesos which must be paid through money order or bank draft (negotiable in the Philippines and payable to the Director of the National Bureau of Investigation).
Location

Applicants who prefer to secure the certificate personally must proceed to the NBI Clearance Center at:

5th Floor, Victory Central Mall
Old Victory Compound , Rizal Avenue
Monumento, Caloocan City

Or to the following Satellite Offices and Renewal Kiosks:
Satellite Offices:

Quezon City Hall Rodriguez (Rizal) Municipal Hall

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCan we get anything now?

I would imagine our approval date would be soon or at least hopefully.

With that said can we get anything ahead of time such as police certs from Philippines, and Jordan, CENOMAR, etc.

The "etc." is for anyone else to fill in the blanks. :P

I saw someone say police certs take 3-4 weeks from their country not sure how it is for Jordan. I would like to get my baby with me soon and if we can get these things out of the way and have them ready it would help with that.

Also is CENOMAR just from Philippines or does she need one from both Jordan and Phil?

Thanks in advance. :)

police report from Jordan

Police Records

Available to resident Jordanian citizens and foreigners. The General Intelligence Directorate (GID) is responsible for issuing good conduct certificates. They are considered to be reliable, but cover primarily security-related records, i.e. not necessarily criminal information. These certificates must be applied for in person at the local GID office, and are valid for one year. It takes up to two weeks to obtain the certificate from the GID. Foreigners must reside continuously in Jordan for six months before the GID will issue a certificate. There are no procedures to obtain these certificates through Jordanian embassies in foreign countries.

While the VJ guides are nice, it is best to get the info from the Embassy website, if available.

Here is what it says for Manilla:

Form I-134 Affidavit of Support: The I-134 Affidavit of Support is required for returning residents (SB-1), fiancé(e)s or spouses of U.S. citizens (K1, K3), children of K1 and K3 applicants, and applicants with special immigrant status. A copy of the sponsor's most recent Federal Income Tax Return (Form 1040) should accompany the I-134. Faxed [scanned] copies of the ITR are acceptable.

No notarization required

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2 Approved but without sending to NVC?

The real process isn't clear on all NOA2s. The bolded point above is incorrect- USCIS sends approved petitions to the NVC. The NVC will then send it to the consulate themselves.
It's great that you have insight into the USCIS' process for the past few years, but not everyone who applies does. Try to have a little grace, USCIS lingo could confuse anyone.

OP- I had the same question and learned that all K-1s are first directed to the NVC to be assigned a case number. Only then are they directed to your specific consulate. Good luck!

Why is it wrong? Care to share?... NVC is part of the Department of State and the consulate system.

The whole issue here is that the OP says that their is a problem... Their is no "problem" here other than one that is self created

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2 Approved but without sending to NVC?

The problem is that our NOA2 said: Petition approved, forwarded to the listed consulate (and there´s nothing listed).
They dont say it´s going to NVC, like the others NOA2 I have seen on visajourney...

Who says it has to stipulate it is going specifically and directly to NVC? You? From the USCIS perspective it is being forwarded to the consulate... they are not concerned about how the DOS's routes it...

I can tell you this is the same boilerplate liturgy that has been in use by the USCIS for years. The USCIS has standard responses and the adjudicator simply selects from the library. Some adjudicators select response "A" and others select response "B".

It is not a problem, you simply tried to read more into it than was there
