K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A & Asian naming convention
Thanks HappyOne and hniHnitsuJ,

There was a topic on here about someone else also using the <MIDDLE NAME FIRST NAME> as both the first name so maybe that is something I will try. She doesn't have access to her birth certificate yet until she can get it from her parents during the Tet Festival so I won't make any final decisions until I see that form and have it translated.

As for the question in my original post, I think I'm going to put <MIDDLE NAME FIRST NAME> in the First Name box in the parents section.

I still have a long wait ahead of me before I even submit this paperwork, but I'm filling it out now so I can have any questions answered that arise. (For example, Kha Han doesn't remember her last 2 addresses she lived at since she was only temporarily staying there until she could find a permanent place to live.)

Thanks again guys and I would certainly love to hear other thoughts on the correct process.

abbynorm, thanks for the heads up. smile.gif

Right now, I'm still not sure what the answer should be and now I'm wondering if I should do "Kha Han" for the first name instead of split it up as the first name and middle name. I feel that if I put Kha Han as the first name then somewhere during the K-1 process, they may put one of the names as first and one as the middle and make her "American" first name "Han" then middle name "Kha", which my fiancee does not want since she wants to be called "Kha Han"

I have read some similar topics about this (regarding the fiancee's name), but I was wondering what other people have filled in for the section where it asks for the father's and mother's first name.

Let me use an example Asian name: Nguyen Nam Grioa

Should I use: "Nam" as the first name or should I use "Grioa" as the first name? Or.... should I use "Nam Grioa" in the first name box?

If I remember correctly, Vietnamese names are constructed with the last name first, then the middle name and then the first name. I filled out some paperwork for one of my EX's brothers and it was written as Nguyen Van Tho, but she told me that his first name was Tho, and I already know that Nguyen is a Vietnamese last name.

Something that I wanted to point out, in your time line you have Texas service center as the place of filing, (not yet filed) but if you live in Texas you will be filing your I129f in Vermont, just a heads up.

Welcome to VJ

Thanks smile.gif I'll put in the last part of their name as their first name.

When I filled in the timeline, I just selected a random one since I didn't know what to choose at the time. I'll update it with the correct information.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 Visa or just get married...????
As others mentioned, I would go the K-1 route. During the application process, I would suggest that he go see you in the UK to avoid any issues. Your tourist visa may be rejected if there was any suspicion that you may not return to your country.

If you're concerned about finances, then try saving as much as you can while you're in the UK. The value of the pound is stronger right now so it would be a good time to take advantage of that.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs this 'passport picture' adequite?
I've used http://www.epassportphoto.com/ twice now (my 2nd time was yesterday) and it is really easy to use. If you have an uncropped version of that picture, use that on the website. I bought a paper trimmer from Wal-Mart for about $10 (Carl RBT 12) so I didn't really save anything the first time I used it, but it was nice to only pay $0.19 + tax at Walgreens. I'm sure I may be printing more passport pictures later on.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVisiting the USA while I-129F is pending
Just to let people know I got through the USA boarder in Minneapolis very easy. I told the officer I had applied for the K-1 visa, he asked a few questions about it then let me through. He didnt even ask to see return flight details or anything. I'm still in the USA right now and as planned I will be leaving on the 21st. Hopefully will hear about our I-129F file before I leave. Its been nearly 6 months now.

Well I dont have the NOA1, thats at my fiance's house. Also I dont have any property. I live with my family still. But I can take pay slips, bank statements and a letter from my work saying when they expect to have me back. If a person was to get sent home, does that affect the case? Thanks for everyones replies.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVisiting the USA while I-129F is pending
Thanks everyone I really appreciate you all replying to me. I think I'll just go ahead and book a flight and take as much evidence as I can. I'll make sure to land in Minneapolis to clear customs because every time I've landed there, they let me through with no problems. The three times I've landed in Detroit I've been taken in to passport control, asked further questions an searched. So think how bad Detroit would be if I tell them I'm planning on moving to the USA.

Hi, my name is Stephen and I live in England. Me and my fiance sent off our I-129F petition in July and have had no answer yet. I want to travel to the USA for the new year holidays but not sure if I'm allowed to while there is a pending case. Does anyone know anything about this that could help me?

Thanks.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRFE..
Ah well thanks for letting me know. Hopefully we put enough evidence in the file for us not to get one of those. Its already taking ages and an RFE will only make this first step drag on even longer. They need to give their staff extra over time!

I filed the I-129F petition in July and I was just wondering, since we havent had an RFE yet after all this time is it unlikely that we're going to get one of those? Or can you get a RFE at anytime, even 7 or 8 months after filing?

wow that's prettttyyyy loooooonnggg waiting for u guys.

did u ever request for service request(by calling USCIS)? contacting your senator or congress might help but not all have success story. to contact them try to google who's your congress/senator for your district then from there call them..they will ask u to download something on their website..a form to authorized them to contact USCIS.

also, try to make infopass thru USCIS website.

goodluck

I tried to do the service request thing online but it says I'm within processing times. Which is obviously #######. I'll look in to contacting the Senators though. Thanks

Hang in there!!! I contacted my Congressperson almost a month ago and didn't really help. She just asked how my file was doing and then on Friday called me to say that we should receive something within a month. I didn't get much help but maybe you have more luck!

Hopefully we get our NOA2 soon and CSC continues to process at the current rate!

Good luck!

I'm beginning to think they've lost ours or something. Theres so many files been approved after July. I thought they were meant to process the files in order?

Did you try to contact a senator or someone important? If no, you should definitely do it. It usually helps, especially at that point.

No we didn't contact anyone yet. This might be a stupid question but how do you contact them, email or phone call? What is a Senator? is there one senator for each state?

Just a few quick questions, on question 32 on the DS230 form where it says 'in what occupation do you intend to work in the United States?'. If I don't really know the answer to that question what is the best answer to write?

And on question 33 on the same form where it asks ' list below all educational institutes attended?'. Is that just asking for college or universities? or high schools too?

Thanks

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPolice Certificates from Another Country - K1 Visa

Hi everyone

I'm hoping you could help me with something that is on my mind.  I've had the K1 Visa interview and everything was in place apart from Police Certificates I had to obtain from China and Japan.  I've organised to get the China Police Certificate and I have a 2008 Japan Police Certificate which states I do not have any criminal history since residing in Japan (1 year).  I have forwarded this Certificate onto the US Consulate and she seemed quite happy about this and did not say anything about the year on it.  Because it's a few years old it's bugging me a little....I don't want to apply for another if I don't really have to because it will set me back another 2-3 months as I want to head over the USA to be with my fiance as soon as I can and get married.

I have not been back to Japan since 2008....my question is would you think I would have to have a more current/recent Japan Police Certificate??

Thanks in advance for your help people!! goofy.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresApplying for a Police Certificate in China

Hi there.....I was curious to know if anyone in the past has worked in China and had to get a Police Clearance for their K1Visa when they have left the country?

I am very lucky that I have relations living there to apply for me and all the paperwork has been forwarded to the Notary Office.  My question is, once the Notary Office has all the necessary paperwork, how long approximately do I have to wait to be able to get this clearance?  It's already been 2 weeks.

Thanks for your help in advance.
