I agree, makes no logical sense what they do, never a logical pattern, constant change and not for the better with USCIS.

You should definitely complain. There is no reason to make you drive 200 miles to a distant facility when a local one will suffice. That is just BS. I would contact them. 400 miles round trip is quite a bit in terms of wasted gas--bad for both your pocket and for the environment.

No problem.
You might do a search on the N400 thread to see if any others went through Yakima office and if they were able to take oath same day they interviewed or how long it takes in between or you could any previous members on VJ you find that went through Yakima office and ask them how it went. That is what I did for St Louis field office. Sadly in STL, no oath allowed on same day of interview if approved, have to wait for several days or weeks for oath ceremony letter and usually oath is like 2 weeks later due to fact they want to corral up a large batch of new immigrants to take oath all at the same time instead of doing it daily or weekly unless in area where it is large enough numbers to happen daily or weekly! Looks like the rate fee hikes from 2007 and the economic downturn hitting at same time have really slowed down these N400 filings this year. Which is good for us now, means we should get through this much faster than normal, with less numbers filing!
:star:

Thanks very much !

I can't find out how long the gap is from interview to ceremony there, but I will ask at both FP and interview...

Yes the USCIS are pretty much unpredictable so anything can happen..

Right on spot SirLancelot, I agree with you 10000000000%!

I agree. It's very confusing to read that a RFE is a letter notifying the date of biometrics. RFE had previously always meant they wanted something more from the initial application.

I bet you get a biometric letter also or at least the first NOA. From what I have been told by others going through this in past 12 months, it is not uncommon for a person to receive a yellow letter stating the RFE part and on same letter your biometric date. And some have told me it came in white letter so who knows why. But usually either color letter would have your biometric date on it usually. And some have told me their interview letter would come with yellow letter and stating RFE to bring for interview so who knows for sure why they do that or use different colors. Seems like now if you get RFE you simply bring it with you on into the interview, to be honest it is kind of confusing since it does not seem to be like the normal or traditional type of RFE letter one would get in prior I485(2 yr GC) or I751(10 yr GC) filings before USCIS would let you move forward. Anyway, sounds like you are in good shape and moving right along. I put you on the updated list for August filers! I hope Yakima, Washington is ok, it is the only one I know of in USA.

That's identical to what I received today on my account with a mailing date of 18th

I don't believe the mailing date - I think that's the date they produced it and it doesn't leave Missouri mail room until about the email date

Of course we now sit here with a big soppy grin imagining it MUST be FP and not because we did the file wrongly and it really is a RFE

However, always look on the bright side of life !

I expect mine in the mail on Tuesday at which time I will sigh with relief...the other bits can take their time

ps can't do the entry form as my IQ is only 999^99 so I just put my timeline in the signature

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)The Kyiv Beat......
QUOTE (LvivLovers @ Oct 27 2007, 01:54 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
It's always interesting reading other's experiences.

1) I'm using NWA/KLM this time around. In the past I used whatever got me there...Aerosvit, Ukraine International, LOT Polish Airlines, United, and Delta. So far the best flight I was on was United on the way over. They showed 3 good movies back to back...things like Pirates of the Carribean 2 like only a month after it was in theatres. I fly Delta a lot but their movies always seemed terrible to me. Also on United, just in normal economy or whatever, the seats were leather and nice and big...plenty of leg room. I hope the KLM flights are good, but no idea what to expect there. The price seemed reasonable at least. It seems much easier to me to make reservations going to/from Kyiv only then hopping on Aerosvit to travel between Kyiv and Lviv...seems like there's never trouble getting one of these flights. Also in the past I was able to get round trip tickets for $4...yes $4...they added like 30-40 in taxes too, but still that's really cheap.

THat is great, $4 deal, wow who was that with? I HAVE flown Delta to Austrian(connecting in Vienna, Austria then on to Ukraine) on a round trip. Also flown Lufthansa round trip from USA United Airlines then Lufthansa. That was a wild experience. Basically the airport I was flying into that time was Dnepropetrovsk and they are a bunch of corrupt thugs running it I swear, they were in a big row with Lufhhansa because they were flying in an out of that airport with such lower airfares which was killing their very own Dneprovia airlines which I found out later that the airport in Dnperopetrovsk was deliberately not allowing Lufthansa flights to land in their airport thus they were having to reroute to Donetsk or Kiev or Khariv or whatever else airport would allow them to fly in then they would schedule a bus or a train to your destination, talk about a treat flying into Munich from USA then getting to gate and sitting around and waiting and noticing no one else showing up to wait with me and asking Lufthansa rep if flight still on since I had been alerted from Ukraine to be aware of possible problems, well sure enough about hour to 45 minutes before flight out of Munich to Dneperpetrovsk I have to run down stairs to get some tickets to get me on to where I am going, well, lucky lady at Lufthansa desk was good in English and nice, she was great, so in like next 30 minutes I run through another custome and immigration checkpoint and then get on a flight to Frankfurt, which would then hook up with Dneprovia going to Dneprorpetrovsk, only delayed me about 2 hours or so , but it was unreal. And getting out was a mess one morning at 4 am from Donetsk. AHAH I will never forget that time. I could have throttled that Ukraine girl working for Lufthansa at Donetsk and jerking me around!!!! typical Ukraine stuff, but oh well It finally worked out, DonAir bus back to Kiev then Lufthansa out of Kiev to Munich on to USA! Also flew United and Delta this past year then on KLM, which is good. Hey I never had bad experience, I like the GErmans Lufthansa, they stay on time no matter what, Austrian Airlines was great also, and so was KLM, just finding flight ahead of time and right price is key.

2) My wife and I met on one of the international dating websites. I signed up out of boredom one day not really expecting to find anyone but figured what the heck! Worth a shot! But after about a month, there she was...the woman of my dreams! Despite coming from different countries and cultures, she is a better match for me than anyone I have ever met in the US. I'm still pinching myself! We're a perfect match.

THAT is unreal how many women in Ukraine there are just waiting for a decent kind man, great for you, hard to imagine that would happen you know, it is so amazing, even I cannot believe how I meet my wife. I agree they are better matches for men in USA those women from Eastern Europe by far.

3) I haven't tried bus or train yet. Sounds like good times though! =)

Well you do not know what you are missing out on, I took a train from Dnepropetrovsk once all the way to Simferopol on to Yalta via bus and once car and then once by plane and it was unreal. Reminds me of Etripke trip on train to CArpathians this past year. Sounds like neat trip Etripke I want to do that next time. Anyway, I road on one of those non-AC or ventilated trains which those people there do not mind or notice nor the women as Etripke says those women from Ukraine are so damn tough and strong nothing bothers them like the soft lazy American women I had been with in past. Anyway, can you imagine there is no AC on this train and only way to get there where we were going and I was so damn hot one night I could not take sleeping in shorts and no shirt in compartment with 3 other people bunk bed style so I get up and go hang my head out the train window to get the fresh air, and finally after hour I was revived but I swear I would not do that BS again. So we tried the AC bus which is so much better and more room and more comfortable and faster I think, anyway unreal how those people travel and tolerate it, amazing. Culture shock for me!

4) Haven't done that one yet either. Aerosvit was scary enough for me.
Well those Ukraine airlines are a hoot! AHHA every time we land the Ukriainian passengers start clapping loudly and I am sitting there looking at my finance/girlfriend thinking what is the big deal about that and she just smiles and says well one never knows in Ukraine sometimes and I am like great! AHHAH

5) My experience with the restaurants in Lviv was great. Always had great food at good prices. It was a lot better than I expected because I'm a very picky eater.
Wow we were going to go visit Lviv this summer and just got busy down in Odessa and Kriv Rog checking out things. I have been to all those major cities in Ukraine but there, have heard a lot about it, where and what is good places or things to do in Lviv. Well my experience is that the food the Ukraine women and their families make is outstanding and super healthly like ETripke says and they can cook like a magician, but the restuarants I have been to I Kiev, Yalta, Simferopol, Svestapol, Donetsk, Odessa, Khariv, Dnepropetrovsk, Kivy Rog, Zaproshia or wherevever else was not so hot, I am sure there are some great places but it was hard to find for the price, most of time the people hosting me just took me to their own private meal deal and it was always excellent.

As far as Ukrainian women...I don't know about the others, but my wife is amazing. She's the perfect blend of beauty, sweetness, intelligence, and good morals! I definately didn't believe that such a person existed anywhere in this world. So I feel very blessed also!

AMEN BROTHER! PREACH IT! They are the best hands down, after being to Eastern Europe and seeing those women there, I told all my friends they are simply spinning their wheels here in USA and wasting their time and yet they still cannot believe it, I tell them to go there and see for themselves and they all say well you just got lucky and I will not be so lucky and I am like BS, there are thousands of great looking well built awesome personality hard working serious kind caring moral women there, just waiting for a knight in shining armor to come rescue them.
Our interview is on Monday! I know she will do great, but I'll breathe a lot easier once she's been approved! Oleksandra doesn't appear to be nervous at all....go figure! hahaha
THAT is great Lviv! You guys will get it easy and be rocking on next week. Typical Ukraine women, after what they have seen or endured there, nothing bothers them here in USA, it is like a dream come true or fairtail here for them!

Etripke you are right there are no fat people or women in Ukraine and they walk all over the place nonstop and work and eat so well compared to people here, Do you guys have your wives or finances wanting to go walking or running all the time each day or to a park or outside nonstop, my wife loves exercise, they think nothing of walking or running 1, 2, 3 or 4 miles or whatever at all!
AND In HEELS sometimes! AHHA

Do you guys notice how they always dress up or look nice and never go around looking like a slob or bad, ever, I mean they always look like a million bucks and always dress so well always. AHHA

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)The Kyiv Beat......
Well super that is great to hear. good.gif I think we all are lucky to be honest, based on what I have seen and read from others posting on this visajourney website and seeing what others go through having finances in other countries, this Ukraine USA embassy appears to be very easy to deal with, based on what I have seen and read so far, and from personal experience also.

ON the lighter side of things just curious about anyone else's experiences in Ukraine.

1) Curious to ask you other Ukraine K1s, what air service do you use when you fly in and out of Ukraine and do you mostly fly to Kiev or try flying to other cities, reason I ask, when I try flying to other cities besides Kiev it gets kind of unreliable and hectic sometimes, flights get cancelled for now apparent reason in other words then you are scrambling at the airport.

2) How did most of you meet your finances? Meet mine while at a friend's New Years Eve party in USA of all places while she was here in USA visiting her sister.

3) Any of you have the old bus or train experiences yet whiles traveling around the country of Ukraine?

4) How about those old 1930s or 40s or 40s airlines from DonAirbus or Dneprovia airlines that link up between cities in Ukraine, anyone every ride on one of those? I thought I was going to meet my maker one night in December flying one to Odessa! Those things are held together by a band aide and rubber band literally.

5) Also have you found that the restaurants totally suck, I mean you wait for 2 hours for the food, it costs way too much for Ukraine and they serve next to nothing and then it tastes like #######! AHHA I see why everyone there eats at home and goes to grocery store and buys their own and refuses to eat at a restaurant, but I had no idea it would be that bad. Everytime I go back to visit I notice that those same restaurants will be closed or out of business!

Hope everyone is doing well and having a good time and K1 experience. I know I cannot say how many times over and over I have truly been blessed by meeting my wife from Ukraine, the women of Ukraine are by far the best I have ever seen in Eastern Europe or for that matter the world, they are definitely one of a kind and a cut above the rest, I never dreamed any woman could be so good and beautiful in this world.

I Just moments ago received a sms from Lena, and she has the pssports back w/Visas in hand. I am amazed she recieved them so quickly, and given it was a Monday Interview, and they batch process them, I don't know what this does to our perception of them holding them for each Monday. If indeed that were the case, then she wouldn't receive it until next week. Alternatively, she live lives in Kyiv and if it was processed on Monday, she should have had it yesterday or even Tuesday given the shipping?

Sorry, I'm rambling here. We are now set for the November 5th departure and arrival at O'Hare.

Etripke:
I was told this is not exactly true. Nobody asks if you are leaving or returning from Ukraine. Also if she is Ukraine citizen she has property rights and she has Ukrainian passport and is registered to that apt/flat she owns even if she is living in USA she still retains that property, just passing on what I was told firsthand by my wife who told me that she has never been questioned about a exit visa, she says there is nothing to this.

Here is some more information on the "Exit Visa" as it is called by Ukrainian Authorities. This is from RU Adventures LINK: http://ruadventures....0;boardseen#new

Quote from a user:

QUOTE
As I noted it is an "Ukranian Exit Visa" it is the Ukraine's requirement for all nationals planning to live outside of Ukraine. Your spouse can and will be questioned when she later returns and then attempts to leave Ukraine to travel back to your country without one.

A long time ago on RWG Doug Salem wrote about how his wife Olga was stopped on 3 visits to Ukraine when she attempted to leave and return to the USA because she did not have the Exit Visa stamp in her Ukraine International Passport! Finally Olga's mother contacted a local official and arranged for her daughter to obtain one with the usual appropriate gifts, etc.

For us it took longer going through normal channels to obtain the Exit Visa than to obtain the Canadian Visa for Lora.

There is however one downside you need to consider it this as well. Your spouse will have to sign off on all existing property rights in Ukraine. That is give up ownership of her flat or house if she has one. Simple to sign over ownership to a relative as this takes care of the problem. Thus not everyone from Ukraine applies for an Exist visa as like I noted it means they loose their local passport and give up their Ukraine property rights. So a lot for you to think about with your Ukranian spouse!

After moving to your country your Ukranian spouse will need to register with the local Ukraine Embassy or Consulate as a Ukranian living abroad in your country.

From the US DOS:

QUOTE
Also, Ukrainians who have immigrated to the U.S. without obtaining the proper exit visa from Ukrainian authorities may be subject to civil or criminal penalties, and will be required to obtain an exit visa before returning to the U.S. For additional information, see the Consular Affairs web site for our Dual Nationality flyer
.

So, it appears that she will have to more or less give her place up to her Brother and lose all rights to the property. The catch from what I read is that this is for "Immigrant" status in the USA. If they are coming over here on Non-Immigrant status (with immigrant intent) does this still apply? I would imagine that once the AOS is completed THEN it is an issue, but not before. Anyone want to chime in on that?

Hey you know how it is over there, you always wait in line for 2, 4, 6 or 8 hours at a time, sorry to say but from our expereince it is just something she is going to have to do if she wants to get unregistered at the apartment so she can not have to pay anymore, otherwise they will not care or listen to you and you will be fighting a lost battle and wasting time sending English USA documents to get them to remove her. Just know from experience. Sorry it sucks I agree with you.

Any of you that have wives or fiancees who owned their own property (apartment) in Ukraine please post I have a question regarding procedures over there. The issue involves the "Internal" passport (Propiska?) needing to be "stamped" so the departing resident can transfer utilities and water to a family member occupant on departure.

Thanks

Yeah,

Well according to Lena she went to do this today, and was turned back after waiting in line for 2 hours. Her brother is taking over her place, and what I didn't understand is that they are billed by the number of people living in the apartment and the square meter size. She was told she had to go to where they do the residence registration for the internal "passport" and will have to get it stamped there indicating she is or has moved to the states. Her brother can then be listed for the billing on the other stuff. We are talking about sending them "proof" she is not living there after the fact like with a copy of our lease, etc, and the I-94 and hope they'll just do it. It can be done before her departure, it will just take hours of standing in line at two different places.

The old Soviet never dies I guess.

I know, we are paying for utilities for a household of two even though everything is shut off...

That blows. Maybe sending over copies of anything here here that has her name on it, marriage license, and so forth would be enough, you never know. I hate to have Lena go through this BS especially those lines to register are HUGE for the "propiska" (SIC). She waited for over 6 hours the last time she needed something done.

I have been advised that it does not matter what you show them from USA. She will have to go to Utility offices and get unregistered from her Apartment, she will have to tell them she is moving and she wants to be unregistered, so your finance will not have to pay for her in apartment now. Insane is it not how the former Commie system is still alive and well there today!

Thanks

I'm with you on this one, we are having some conflicting information on it, but I suppose the state department might not be the authority to know absolutely if one is needed.

We're just going to shelve it for now.

Visa Approved!!

I just now got off the phone with Lena. She had a longer than anticipated wait at the embassy. Her appointment was at 09.30 and she called me at 12.52 Kyiv time so all in all she was in the Embassy for over 4 hours.

She said that she waited for over 2 hours for the interview itself, and they DID take fingerprints from her which I suspected was going to happen given we were stuck at NVC for a solid 5 weeks. I think that she most likely had a near hit on name checks while there and they had to do it.

She said like everyone else has said that the interview itself was pretty short, and non-eventful. She said the consulate officer was American and complimented her on her English specifically saying she had a "nice accent" which she took to mean her speech is very clear and understandable. He then seemed to engage more in small talk with her asking her if she was going to live here in Madison, and then telling her that it is a great place to live and that he has been here. He commented about the University of Wisconsin being here and their large Slavic Studies department (maybe he's alumni?) and then give her the slips to pay for the return of the passports etc.

She said he didn't look at anything she brought in, and that he briefly looked at the I-134, but returned everything. She was asked if she had ever had a name change from her previous marriage (which she had not, always maintaining her maiden name) but nothing else.

So, I'll keep everyone up to date on her arrival. Right now we are looking at Monday November 5th for her and Sasha (her daughter) to arrive.

I really would like to thank all of you for the support, and FWAGUY for starting this thread. It really did help us prepare and certainly helped me keep my sanity during the wait.

Hello, everyone
Since I haven't shared the joy yet, I had the interview on December 11 and got the visa! good.gif Now waiting for its delivery...

The question that bothers me is having a paper from tax authorities to present when leaving Ukraine. I know this topic has been discussed here, and from what I understand, I don't need to worry about any other papers, but the visa. However, while doing my medical, I saw an announcement on a board there, saying anyone permanently leaving Ukraine, needs this tax document saying you don't owe any taxes.

It is true at all? Someone who has recently left Ukraine for the US, please respond?! If it wasn't needed, what did you or your fiance/fiancee say at the passport control at the airport as your reason for going to the US??? I appreciate any help.

That is soviet propaganda! AHAH there is no such thing as needing a tax paper or document when you leave Ukraine, all you need to worry about is your passport(with stamped K1 visa inside it), your plane ticket to the USA and last but not least your sealed envelope you will have received from the USA embassy after the interview, do not open it you have to hand it over to the first USA immigration official at the first airport you land in the USA. Congrats on interview. And Poka! good.gif

THE BEST WAY to get best price for your finance is for her to go to buy ticket from within Ukraine herself, they always get better deals and rates than you trying to buy it yourself inside USA airlines, just my experience. But the other thing you did by getting round trip ticket is best if you buy yourself from within USA, for if you get one way trip ticket you pay 3 to 4 times as much than the round trip ticket, and if they do not show to fly over with you from USA they do cancel the ticket sadly. It is a pain in ####### with airlines. AND try Aircompare.com for even lower Ukraine flights from USA. I have gotten airfare for$500 to $600 on it round trip from most midwest airports.

First we must deal with immigration. And then once that's over with, then the airlines! ranting33va.gif ranting33va.gif ranting33va.gif

Ok, so I'm just going to pass on my experience hoping that it may help someone in the future.

My wife will have her interview on Oct. 29, so I decided we should have plenty of time to receive the visa if I come on Nov. 10 and bring her back to the USA with me on Nov. 17.

I'm planning to travel round trip between Atlanta, GA, USA and Kyiv, Ukraine since that's usually easier to find flights along that route. Then my wife will join me just from Kyiv, Ukraine back to Atlanta, GA, USA. I wanted Atlanta to be our only stop in the USA so that would be her port of entry (also where I live). That way even if the immigration stuff takes a long time we won't miss our connecting flight. This limited our flight options a little bit.

I logged into Orbitz to see what flights I could get since I used them in the past and they were decent. I finally found a route I liked. I figured it might be a little complicating getting my wife on the same flights as me so I decided to call Orbitz. Long story short, I painstakingly gave the guy on the other end of the phone all the information but when it came time to add my wife going one way only, he tells me the system won't let him originate a flight from Ukraine. He then wanted to talk me into keeping my round trip ticket because it would be cheaper than going through the airline directly. Anyway, I decided I'd check that out.

I called NWA and told them what I was trying to do. I got an extra 5 hour layover since they have to use partner airlines only, but I figured that's ok. Total cost of my round trip ticket was about $800. I was pretty happy with this, especially since this was very close to what Orbitz had.

Then the shocker. She pulled the rate for my wife to join me just on the return flights. Cost: More than $2,500! I was like hmm.....that's not good.

I asked her if I could just make a round trip ticket the same as mine and have her only show up for the return flights, but she said if she does not show for the first flight they cancel the whole thing.

And now my tip for future travellers in case you don't know....I then asked her to make a round trip ticket for my wife starting with the return flight part and returning to Ukraine in a week (even though my wife will just skip this). The price came down to about $800. hahaha

Add the airlines to my hate list please...right up there with CSC!

Hope this helps someone!

Hey if you go to delta and search the trip from Kiev to atl as a roundtrip it should only be about 700. I fly to kiev on delta all the time and looking for my flight for my SO it looks like rountrip should cost me about 750 leavin Ukraine begiining of December with a return date in late Feb. Yes if you try to book roundtrip from US and skip first flight they will cancel entire flight. But if you book direct with airlines from Kiev and miss return to Ukraine what can they do? And if you call them to cancel return in advance you will have a partial credit for a year so if you go back the next set of tix will be cheaper

My dad decided to co sponsor my wife. How does this co sponsorship even work ? Does he have to prove by the poverty guideline he can take care of me, my wife, my son, my mother, and himself or would only have to prove he can take care of himself, my wife, and my mom sad.gif ?????

You and your Dad will both have to file a I-134F, since you are petitioner embassy will expect one from you and then another from your co-sponsor. You will also have to go get both forms notarized.

You will need to get about 3 years worth of W2 yearly statements, 1040 Federal Tax Returns, letter of reference from bank, letter of reference from employer, and most recent 6-12 months of bank statements and send most 6 -12 months recent paystubs. This is all documentary proof that you or the cosponsor has stable sustainable steady income above poverty line to support your K1 finance. You can send photocopies of all that stuff they do not require originals, only I-134 f signed and notarized by each, and the letters of reference. Assets are not really something they focus much on, they are more interested in your monthly cash flow and ability to support a K1 finance until they are able to get EAD or AOS greencard to go look for a job, and that could take about 6 to 12 months on average or longer.

About 8 years ago or longer, I was visiting friends in Windsor and we decided to cross over to Detroit. Although, I had photo id ( note this was before 9/11) I neglected to bring my Canadian Citizenship card with me because of this I was refused entry.

On the DS-230, Question 32

I acknowledged my denial and explained why.

But I am confused about the DS-156 Section 38 Question 2

Have you ever been refused admission to the U.S., or been the subject of a deportation hearing or sought to obtain or assist others to obtain a visa, entry into the U.S., or any other U.S. immigration benefit by fraud or willful misrepresentation or other unlawful means? Have you attended a U.S. public elementary school on student rose.gif status or a public secondary school after November 30, 1996 without reimbursing the school?

What do I put here? I am not sure how to read it- it looks like it's asking if I was refused entry because or fraud or willful misrepresentation or other unlawful means? Do I write NO here?

Will I need a waiver because of a one time denial many years ago?

Just my opinion/observation. But I do not think you have to answer yes to that question or explain why. Reason is I understand the intent of that question to want to know if you ever applied for a visa to USA and were denied entry. I mean you are a Canadian and you can come in and out of USA at will without a visa, you just needed to have your ID or passport with you in order to cross at Detroit tunnel there in Windsor under river I presume at which time you simply forgot. Doubt seriously if there is ever a record of this kept or if they even kept a record of that sort of thing back then. And I do not think forgetting to bring your ID or passport to cross the USA/Canada border would be considered fraud or willful misrepresentation or other unlawful means, I believe it is for those that are denied a visa or for example get denied or turned back at airport or port or border due to something besides forgetting to bring your passport or ID.

This is what WE got:

Our K3/K4 packets are electronic, supplied to us back in october, way before approval, and contained:

A form called "document prep for K interview"
Police certificate information form
DS-230 form
List of area sworn translators, for translating documents to english from foreign language
A one-page document titled "photograph requirements"
A list of area panel physicians
A form called DS-2053 (medical exam form for the physician to fill out)
A form called DS-3024 (chest X-ray form)
A form called DS-3025 Vaccination worksheet
A form called DS-3026 (typical medical history questionaire, like you would fill out as a new patient anywhere)

From the document prep form, directly copied:

The list of documents that we were told to provide:

1. Passport
2. DS-230 Part I
3. Birth Certificate(s)
4. Marriage Certificate (if applicable)
5. Name Change Certificate (if applicable)
6. Death or Divorce Decree (if applicable) from Petitioner and Beneficiary
7. Police Certificate
Each applicant aged 16 or older must have police clearance from any country where the applicant resided for one year or more.
If you have lived in more than one cities in Indonesia for six months or longer you should get the police certificate from the police region of each city (POLDA) or from the police headquarters in Jakarta (MABES POLRI, Jl. Trunojoyo, Kebayoran Baru) which covers all the districts in Indonesia.
8. Evidence of Support. The applicant must provide evidence that he/she will not become a public charge. Evidence of support could include fax copies of applicant's petitioner most recent Federal Income Tax Return (1040) and Tax Statement (W-2), or an employment letter stating salary or wage.
9. Photographs. Two (2) color photos of each applicant in the correct format

The only thing missing is filling out the non-immigrant visa petition, that's done electronically though.

They wanted my Original divorce decree, directly from the clerk of court with the stamp etc etc.
Her birth cert and our marriage books were translated by a translator from their list.
She scheduled an appointment for medical with a doctor from the list, the results were sent directly to the embassy and are being held pending receipt of the package from NVC.
The photograph requirements are directly from the department of state website.
Her name change was done through Indonesian Immigration directly in her passport, per instructions from the Jakarta Consulate.

The police certificate instructions are different for all the countries, I copied mine directly as an example.

Hope this helps. I actually have all these forms electronically devil.gif

Regards,

David and Nitadyah

PS: The few messed-up petitions that I have seen on here have come through lawyers. Its not that they know less, its that they don't seem to care as much. Just a comment.

Whatever you want to think of illegal entrants and their children aside......

Bottom line is these people aren't affecting your visa process. They aren't in the system and they aren't clogging the pipeline.

These people only 'clog' the system if they apply for asylum or refugee status. Otherwise they are the concern of ICE, not USCIS.

The reason your visas take so long is because of historic abuse of a familial connection to a USC to gain immigration benefits. You blame illegals for walking across the border, but the next best thing to that is being related to a USC. There is no limit to the number of spouses and children the United States will admit. It's a greencard you can get merely by being married. It's the best 'legal' way to abuse the system if you happen to not live in Mexico in Canada.

Don't get overzealous patting yourselves on the back for doing things the 'legal' way. There's loads plenty abuse of this method. If there weren't, the consulates would be pumping out visas faster than McDonald's makes cheeseburgers.

but why are they afraid if they can't find a job after college? Is it because they are afraid of their "skills" or "legal status"? If they were here legally, they wouldn't have to worry about finding a job.. with most people, the education (and work experience) you receive can land you a good job.. even the lowest paying jobs (McDonald's?) can work part-time and go to school part-time and not worry about the "legal" status.. They brought it upon themselves (or their parents caused it by coming here illegally) the "fear" of having no job and being caught.. yes, the children's meanings are good (wanting a good education).. but does it mean just because they are here, they want all the 'good' things that legal immigrants get? I just don't like the fact that they are complaining (this isn't the first article by far)..
My Wife doesn't even complain as much.. she is just sad and she has a right to be... because we are apart..

you can find a lot more of these on www.idexer.com

So these children are lucky? They complain too much and the fear they have is some silly fear? You are not on the same level at all with what these children are dealing with yet you compare yourself to them?

My fiance had her interview monday

I included

-I-134 showing only my income which is above the the 125 %
-2004 & 2005 tax returns
-Last pay stub from my prior employer
-and latest pay stub from current employer since I changed jobs in October
-Letter from employer
-3 months of bank statements.

My fiance had no problem in the financial part.

EVERANDEL,
Hi, question on the financial support at Kiev.
1) Were you able to fax or email scanned copies to your beneficiary to use on interview? reason I ask, I looked on Kiev website and they said it was fine to do that with I134f and supporting documents to make copies and scan in then email to beneficiary for interview, so then I email them and they confirm that, BUT as I have found out these government entities sometimes give you several answers or are not consistent or uniform all the time, so that is why I wanted to ask someone that actually went through already to make certain.

2) Also did the Kiev embassy keep all the financial information, or did they simply look at it to verify then hand it all back to beneficiary to keep?

Thanks for the Information. All that aside, does 50G+ a year seem like enough?

I am going to be honest with you, I know several people on here say you do not have to use I-134 or file it, but I checked with Kiev embassy two weeks ago and got answer that they expect it and your most recent federal tax return you filed, all the bank statement copies, paystubs, letter from banker or employer stating you work and earn what you do is also fine or acceptable, in other words it cannot hurt but I am telling you they are expecting that I134 notarized and signed along with most recent copy of federal tax return per Kiev embassy. AS you should know working in the wonderful Federal government for 20 years, there is what is stated or written or said in policy and then there is what is and actually gets done AND each branch or office location handles things differently, just like these embassies all have different levels of strictness on what they want for financial support on the interview. You will not have a problem earning enough adjustable gross income to prove your future Ukrainian wife will not become a public charge, you earn more than enough.

FWAGUY, what do you mean? Your girlfriend should be able to get her police certificate for Ukraine at her local oblast government office(like county courthouse/police station), but she better take money for bribe/tip or know someone, cause things move mighty slow in Ukraine and with lots of mistakes sometimes on documents, and honestly I have found from my own personal experiences in Ukraine lot of people expect to be bribed/tipped or paid . ALSO, not 100% certain, but I think the police certificate is only good for like 10 days or so before Kiev interview so better have your girlfriend check on that, I will ask mine and let you know, but pretty sure of that fact.

I notice embassy at Kiev is not real thorough with email replies, just answer what they want to and let you scratch your head and say but you did not answer the entire question.

Too bad I would think they would tell you what you needed to do on Police Certificate.

So is your fiancee from Ukraine originally? I mean would not think that would have anything to do with police certificate. Sorry but could you give me more detailed info about this and I will check with mine, she said she had it under control and knew what to do to get her police certificate or record no problem. Be glad to help you.

My fiancee is originally from Odessa and currently lives in Kherson. I am not worried about the PC's from Ukraine. I am worried about her PC from her time spent in Moldova when she attended university. She would have to travel to Chisinau to get the PC because they are not available locally or from the Moldovian Consulate in Kiev. Police certificates are valid for longer than 10 days (Maybe 6 mos.?)but the consulate HOWEVER wants them from a recent time.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Police Certificates are valid for ONE YEAR for past residences. ie: she lived in Odessa but now lives in Kiev, However as you stated the PC from her current residence should be from a more recent time. I would think under 90 days but that only my guess.

Technically Ukraine government says 30 days is all they will accept PC for and accept as valid. According to USA embassy they state 180 days prior to interview is all they accept. I would email embassy or call them to make certain and verify it.

JUST get Ukraine PC, I mean how will embassy know the difference? They will have no clue. Besides she was student and still Ukraine citizen. Also remember to get the PC translated to English or they will not accept it. They will want both Ukrainian version of PC original and the translated version and I do believe they will want to keep that original Ukrainian PC.

They will know if they look at her internal passport (propiska sp?) This documents show the citizens life history and current status of children, marriage, etc.... if I am not mistaken..... Remember we are dealing with a former soviet state that has only been independent for 15 years. Many things (such as identification documents) are still carry overs from that era.

I would think it only shows she visited Romania, not lived there on the passport. Entry/Exit. Not familiar with internal passport, I was under impression that only the passport they travel in and out of Ukraine is what is needed. I can ask and see from my fiancee. I do not remember that kind of passport you are talking about. You do not have to tell me anything about dealing with former soviet country my friend, I know what you mean, they love documents and records. Well not everything carries over from that era, that I know, lot of things got misplaced or vanished after that era.

Wow how did you manage to go so much in one year, that is nice, well I have been 4 times in past 2 years there, in all different seasons for 2 to 4 weeks at a time,, we meet 2 years ago in USA in person by accident. My fiancee already has a 5 year multiple entry tourist visa to USA so I am not worried about her getting approved either, nor does income bother me, I do not need cosponsor, just not real hip on giving out anymore private personal information than necessary is all. You think about it, American citizens do not even have to go through what we go through or have to proof in order to get married, it is too easy here for them, just think what burden would be lifted from our society if people were made to go through all the checks we do for K1! :innocent:

Where did you get the impression I was there 4 times in one year? Nyet.... 4 times in the last 2.5 years......

Sorry my fault, misread it, getting late and long day of work, it is a grind. So how did you meet?

I would have stopped right there when they said...

I-134 is acceptable (therefore not required). The last financial year Federal tax return is required.

That would have done it for me. In any case she has the I-134 with instructions.

Well, thought I would share that with you so you would know. I have had some people tell me that they never even ask to see the 1-134 or the tax return or other documents, I guess it all depends on the worker interviewing that day and their mood.

So how many times you been to the Ukraine? stay long this time, cold as hell this time of year and only daylight for like 5 or 6 hours, depressing place in fall or winter I think.

Been there now 4 times... (March, July, September, January) I have seen all the seasons. Each time for 10 days or so.

So what all did you give your fiancee for her interview?

Just what packet 3 and the website mention. 2005 tax return, 1 pay stub. I am not worried about income.
Proof of relationship... A record of her ATM withdrawals each month, e-mail & phone & chat logs, photos, boarding passes, passport stamps, etc... detailing my post petition visit. I am a minimalist as well but she will have enough good solid evidence in order to be successful. Kiev has a good reputation but she will be prepared.

Are you sure, where did you find that out at? I did not know the I-134 F was optional, was told by embassy it was required with most recent federal tax return. I would chat with you but do not know how to do it on this website yet, just figured out this email option tonight, and this is my first night/day on this thing anyway. Conflicting statements about what they require from petitioner for Fiancee interview at embassy to show financial support is what I mean on their website

Documentation regarding financial support from the petitioner must be presented. It can be in any form so long as it contains enough detail and information for the consular officer to conclude that the beneficiary will not become a public charge, i.e. tax returns, bank statements, wage statements, etc. Petitioners may submit a notarized Affidavit of Support form I-134 if they wish.

And I do not wish.....

HAHA I agree, I do not WISH to either. So what documentation are you going to use then? Thanks for link, I read this many times now already. Let me share this with you from Kiev embassy email reply last week =

FWAGUY, please notice these were official replies to my financial support questions last week to Kiev Embassy. They seem to think or indicate they want that I-134F with most recent Federal Tax Return as #1 choice, then maybe all other things. So that is why I am trying to find out for certain like you, I mean if you go by what is printed on their website or I-134F instructions you may wish to as option but I am afraid they may force our Fiancees to give up a tax return anyway, so I think I will do like you give her one just in case but tell her not to give it up unless they demand it.

Hi,
I am a newbie. :help: Just found this sight over weekend, I sure wish I had known about it 4 months ago! Great information and right on. ANYWAY....

1) Does anyone know where we can go on here to discuss or visit with other Ukraine K1 members?

2) Anyone had experience with exactly what Kiev embassy requires from fiance for beneficiary's interview?
a) reason I ask is I have read Kiev embassy website several times and their packet information, thus as usual with these federal govt entities, the right hand does not know what they left hand is doing, I see conflicting statements as to what they require or expect or need from Petitioner.

3) Anyone had experience with I134 form and other documents or supporting information, AND in what format or just exactly how or what is the Kiev embassy looking for or expecting, I am learning this all changes from one service center or from one government office to another as I go along this long lonely highway for a K1! From what I can tell each step of this process has new little twists and every office has it's own way of doing things as do the embassies from what I hear.

Anyway. Please help if you can or have time.
Thanks
ZQT3344

2) Where are the conflicting statements

3) Did you know the I-134 is optional?

Wonder, does it matter if she needs that PC in Romania, I mean she was only student there and not citizen. That just sounds like tough situation, are you sure she has to do that, I guess you and your girlfriend already checked on that though, I mean I do not know on this situation. ARE sure she has to have PC from Romania? Would they even keep a PC on her being a student? AND hey like I said if so, take extra money for tips. ;)

I am 99% sure it is 10 days maybe 20/30 for valid Ukraine PC but I know it is not 6 months, I mean they could commit a lot of crime in that 6 month time period before interview at embassy, joking of course with you, but that is how those feds think at embassy so get used to it.

Your post made me think.... I re-checked the State department site that refers to availability of PC's and the information from Moldova says that they will prepare a PC for anyone who wishes to emigrate from Moldova. Since she is not emigrating from Moldova then we might be in the clear. I got a couple of places to check to verify..... I guess I have nothing better to do than hopefully save her from an unneeded road trip....

THAT would be good idea, other wise she will be not a happy camper riding a bus or train to Romania and back! Been there done that. She will love you to death if you find out and save her a trip. I do not think you need Romania PC, I mean go with the Ukraine PC, simplify your life.

When I was in Ukraine last week I provided my fiancee with my I-134 (and other financial data except my 2006 return) but gave her explicit instructions since they say it is optional, to keep it in her back pocket and not to give it to the consulate unless requested. It would have been nice to know I could have scanned it then but since it is a "signed and notarized" document, I assumed it needed to be original. I will scan my 2006 return when ready so she has it when the interview happens.

So how many times you been to the Ukraine? stay long this time, cold as hell this time of year and only daylight for like 5 or 6 hours, depressing place in fall or winter I think. So what all did you give your fiancee for her interview? I have mine(ours) coming up later, just got approved last monday for I129F with NOA2 from email at California, weird deal - where I live have to send in to Nebraska, but they then forward on to California, why I have no idea, but they did and it took extra 20 days. I would have just mailed it direct to California if I had known. As you will see nothing makes sense with this whole process it is illogical and well we are dealing with the feds. What can I say. Thus I have been trying to figure out what exactly I need to send to my fiancee for her interview, and in what format. I do not believe in sending all that extra stuff they do not require or ask for, it is overkill and it just makes them want more or ask more questions or get confused I have found. I agree with you, I think I will tell mine the same thing, here is my 2005 Federal return but do not give it up unless they demand it, otherwise I am going to send her the other stuff to use, I am not big on them having my tax returns floating around in foreign country to be honest. If you have not noticed there is a lot of identity theft in Ukraine of western folks, I have talked to many about this and they think it is ok, why you ask and they say because we can afford it to lose! AHAH, good old Ukraine. You been there many times? Oh and what supporting documents did you give your fiancee to take to interview?

I noticed the contradictions also. I emailed them and asked what was correct, pointing out the contradictions. I got a reply that said what to send, so I did, and they accepted it. Sorry, but I don't remember the details - it was several months ago.

WELL I sent like 5 emails asking them, may I send scanned email copies of my I-134F and 2005 Federal tax return. Then I asked them was there anything else that they required of me the petitioner and just how did they prefer it or in what format for their embassy since their were two places on website that said they did not require originals, or I134F, but copies of supporting financial documents either faxed or scanned email. YET when you open up the packet 3 and 4 then look at the K1 checklist of items it says copies and/or originals so it is not very clear. But last email I got from them said all they needed from me was scanned email copy of I134F notarized and most recent 2005 federal tax return, nothing about letter from employer, bank statements or W2 or paystubs, which to me it is really ridiculous to require us to do all this, why can't they just pull information from Social Security office or IRS, they all are tied in on data bases, I am sure they will cross check them anyway once in USA filing I-864, I mean it is too easy not to for them and would elminate extra paperwork from us and for them and stop any fraud since it is what it is when they pull tax return or social security records direct from source, of course that is too simple and logical. Lord forbid, why they might use that in future to create another requirement thus another source of income fee to generate. So GearheadGeek how was your experience with I129F and kiev interview? Take long to get approved or fiancee interview?
