K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNewbie - K1 Visa for my Romanian Girlfriend
I know that she is not part of the VISA waiver program, and she would have to get a tourist visa to visit. She is very busy with her masters degree, that is why we agreed for me to go visit her in Bucharest. It is a lot SIMPLER for a US citizen to visit Romania, then it is for a Romanian citizen to visit the US. Maybe someday they will be a part of the waiver program.

I know I cannot get her parents or best friend a tourist visa, but I can submit a letter for each of them stating the purpose of their visit (wedding) and that I will be covering the expenses for them while they are visiting. Her parents live in Italy, but I still think they have Romanian passports.

The hotel sent me a copy of my bill, so I have that covered now for my proof of visiting her. Now I am just waiting on what Delta can give me.

I hope to put the paperwork in the mail in two weeks. She is working on her part and going to mail them to me on Monday.

And for all of you that say things sound fishy, why must people cast doubt on people? I don't think people would go through all this heartache and expense for nothing. Look at your own situation if you are here, and tell me if you thought it sounded fishy when you were going through the process.

Thanks, Jeff

@ Baron555

I really wish that I could have gone more times to see her, but we have been talking for a very long time, and we didn't really decide about the future until after the July 2012 trip. It was during this trip that we really bonded even further, and moved to the point that we talked about the future. She decided she wanted to come here because I have three children and she didn't want to take me away from them. I work a full time job that requires me to travel across the USA quite a bit this year, plus two trips to Australia. I went when I could, and also when it would also work the best with her work and school schedules.

I am going back again in January 2013 for 10 days. That is the longest period of time that work will let me be away for. I plan on making sure I save all my flight coupons, boarding passes etc.

The big problem I have right now is that I don't have my boarding passes and hotel bill from the trip in July 2012. I have requested from Delta and Marriott copies of my itinerary and proof that I took the flights. I also printed out my Delta Skymiles account information that shows I took the flights to get there and back. I also printed out the Marriott Rewards information that shows what days I checked in and out of the hotel in Bucharest. I have copies of my passport that shows that I entered Romania on July 25, 2012 and left on July 29, 2012. It was a short trip, yes, because I had to get back to work and they wouldn't let me take more time off. I have several pictures of us together during the trip, but not a lot of receipts. Those of you who have been to Romania know that it is still mostly a CASH economy and I was even warned not to use my credit cards unless absolutely necessary.

As far as proof of the relationship, I have printed out my skype logs, my yahoo messenger logs, my verizon telephone bills, my yahoo emails, plus the copies from my passport showing the dates I was in Bucharest. This and about 10 pictures of us together there. It's over 400 pages of information so far, and I'm still not done with my skype logs. I am hoping that will be more than enough proof of the relationship.

I also want to clarify that we are engaged to each other. She does not have the ring because she insists that I give her the ring in front of her parents when I go back again in August. They live in Italy, and only come back once a year in August. I have talked to her about this several times, and she really wants the ring to be presented in front of her parents. I am trying to do the best thing here for her too, since I know she will give up a lot by having a wedding in the USA with me (no friends, no family, etc.).

Visit her and her university. I suspect something fishy here.

Why would there be something fishy here? I have already been there, met her, seen her school, her apartment, etc. Explain what you mean please.

Okay, I have not officially given her an engagement ring because she wants me to do it in August 2013, when her parents will be in Bucharest. They live and work in Italy, and she is by herself in Bucharest. That is the only thing that hasn't happened yet for the engagement. She really wants me to do it in front of them, but for all other purposes we are engaged.

Do I really need to include copies of our emails, instant messages, and my telephone bills? Or will my flight coupons, flight receipt, and hotel receipt plus the pictures of us being together be more than enough proof of the existing relationship?

First, let me say that I am a complete newbie to all of this, and that I want to thank everyone in advance for having patience with me and offering advice.

I am dating and completely in love with a beautiful lady from Romania. We have talked at length several times about the future, and we have agreed that we would like to get married and have her come live here in Florida with me. I have three children from a previous marriage, and she doesn't want me to leave them to be in Romania with her. She is currently finishing up her masters degree, and will be done at the end of Summer 2013. It is at that point that we would like her to come here to the United States so that we can get married. I have looked into sites like RapidVisa or contacting a lawyer, but from reading posts here, it seems that the process could be done without those.

But I have a lot of questions, and hope some of you will be willing to help me.

First - Proof of the Relationship:
Simmy and I met online. I hope that this is not something that is frowned upon. We met in a chat room, and since then it has progressed from their to emailing and talking on yahoo messenger. Then we exchanged telephone numbers, and we talk all the time. I usually call her because the expense is not something that she can afford right now. After we talked for several months, we agreed that I would come to visit her, and I did in July 2012. We had a wonderful time together, and I have several pictures of us together. I also gave her an iPad, and we continue to talk on the phone, via Yahoo, but also now through iMessage and Facetime.

1. Will it be frowned upon because we met online at first?
2. She doesn't email a lot, and most of our chats are via Yahoo or iMessage. Will these be accepted as proof of the relationship?
3. The pictures I took of us together are digital, but show us together. Are these going to be acceptable as proof of relationship?

Second - Timing:
If we want to try to accomplish all of this by the end of August 2013, I should start the process now, right?

Third - Passport
She currently does not have a passport. She is going to get one right after Christmas. Can I start the process now, even though she doesn't have a passport?

Fourth - Parents
She is okay with getting married in the United States but really wants her parents to be able to come here. Will I be able to get the a tourist visa to come to the wedding?

I am going back to see her again in January, and will make sure I take a lot more pictures of us together.

I look forward to the responses from all those who are willing to help. I really love this young lady, and want to be able to get through the Visa process.

Thanks,
-Jeff

Just a minor correction. You did not send your package to the Texas Service Center. You sent your I-129F petition to the Dallas Lockbox intake facility. The Texas Service Center does not receive nor process I-129F petitions. From the Dallas Lockbox, where all petitions are mailed, it will be sorted and sent to one of the only two service centers that process the I-129F petitions, Vermont or California.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 Affidavit - Tax Return
Hello everyone. I am still NOA1, only 36 days into the process. But I am preparing for my I-134 for when we ge our approval :-)

I noticed that it says you do not have to provide a tax return, just paystubs and a letter from your employer. But other people have told me you have to provide a tax return.

Which is right or maybe better said, which is the best to do?

Thanks,
-Jeff

Nice - but that took the surprise out of it.

We have been very open with each other since the beginning. It's hard to be very secretive being 11000 miles apart.

I believe we will get NOA2 at the end of July.

I have to go in August no matter what so I can meet her parents, and seek her dads blessing. So I am going in August no matter what. Was just wondering if I should plan to stay until end of September (as I can work from anywhere I have internet connection), or if I should cut it shorter and go back once we get the interview date, etc.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTrying to plan ahead....
Hi everyone! I hope that you are all having a wonderful weekend, and that your NOA2s are in flight to you! I'm only a couple of months into the process, but I know the waiting is killing me. The good thing is that I am going to see my beautiful fiance in April, so that should help the waiting.

According to the current processing times, it is estimated that my NOA2 should be near the beginning of August 2013. This is based upon current Vermont Service Center processing dates. My fiance and I were planning on me going back to Romania at the end of August so that I can finally meet her parents, and I can attend some family events. I was planning on staying until late in September. Based upon your expert opinions, do you think that it will be possible that she may have the K1 Visa issued by the end of September?

Just looking for some advice, as we are trying to make some plans, and I know that NOTHING is definite in this process.

Thanks Everyone!

-Jeff

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow do you pay the Visa Fees for a K-1 & K-2 Visa

I believe you pay the visa fees at the Embassy or consulate that your interview occurs at.  Other more versed members will say for sure though.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow much is too much?

My initial package was 250 total pages including 10 photos of us, telephone bills, yahoo chat logs, emails, skype logs, receipts from both my visits, and more.  I did not get an RFE.  Some people send 10-12 pages and get approved.  So there really is no way to know what they are looking for, or if you sent everything they are going to want.

Your income is more than sufficient and it should not be considered a problem.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat did you write on back of photos? Our I-129f so far, Mailing options?

I included pictures from my two visits to see Simona.  On each picture I wrote the date, the location.  Mine were all digital, so it is easy to tell what date they were taken.   I wrote our names on all of them too.  I did not send a ton of pictures, maybe 10-12?   I don't remember exactly.  But I got through without an RFE, NOA2 on 7/9/2013.

I also included all my receipts and flight coupons for both trips.

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresConfused about Packet 3 information

My fiance has not received the Packet 3 from the Bucharest Embassy yet.  I am confused about what she will need from me for this part of the process.  I know she will have forms that she has to fill out and return.  Does she need anything from me?  Or is everything else that she needs from me for the interview?

I will be present for the interview and be bringing all of it with me when I leave on Aug 21 to go to Bucharest.

Thanks everyone for the help...  Hard to believe that we are so close to the interview now.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresis Age difference a red flag

Simona and I are almost 13 years difference in age.  I am sure that this is not something they can use unless it is an illegal age in either country.
