K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCertificate validity period.

Greetings VJ'ers

I am currently waiting on the NOA2 which should be here in the next two weeks, hopefully. We felt we should begin getting the certificates required for the packet from Guangzhou now. I seen a few post but no definite answer. Does anyone know how long the validity period is for the police report and the Single Status certificates is? And information or advice would be greatly appreciated.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTourist visa (B1/B2) while in K1 process

FromPaus

It was no issue at all, My fiancée did get the B2 Visa Approved at the consulate and immigration allowed her here on a 6 month visa, So she will be here until her time to return and get her interview. Approved or not approved, the B2 will not be an issue for your K1.

Jay

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTourist visa (B1/B2) while in K1 process

Thank you, We definitely will follow every possible rule in order to keep our K1 from having any issues. As it seems so far it is possible for her to come here, just need to get the consulate to approve her, I am hoping that with her being already in the K1 process it will benefit her to get approved.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTourist visa (B1/B2) while in K1 process

Hi Everyone

First Posting, I am currently in the K1 process, got me NOA 1 on 10/1/13 and its at the Texas Service center. I wanted my Fiancee to be here for the coming holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years), and return in January. From reading other post this is possible. If anyone has any additional input as far as pros and cons or experience, I sure would appreciate it. I dont want to get caught with any situations that may cause delays or rejections. Due to the various K1 processing times, if it is such that the consulate sends out the packet, she will fly back to finish the process and interview.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDivorce Waiting Period?

Thanks NigeriaorBust, probably best to air on the side of caution, not worth the risk for the sake of 30 days.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDivorce Waiting Period?

That's what I thought Extreme Happiness, from what I read we have to file the decree as evidence that the marriage is over, but there is nothing to say anything about the 30 waiting period. The period isn't mentioned on the decree, it only come into effect once you try and get a marriage license in the state of Texas.

But the other post is correct with the terminology, we must be free to marry.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDivorce Waiting Period?

My girlfriends divorce has just come through, Texas law states that she has to wait 30 days until she can get re-married.

Obviously a K-1 visa takes much longer than 30 but the question is can we file the initial K1 application now, or do we have to wait 30 days?

Thank you in advance for any information. We've waited soooo long for her divorce to be settled, now we just want to get on with things ASAP :)

Thank you both so much for your quick response, I'm a lot clearer on the process now. I'll apply for the K1 now and I'll now have the time to ensure everything is in place ready for London.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 Visa With Child Help

I am just about to start my K1 visa application process and I am hoping for some guidance regarding my son.

My ex-wife has granted me permission to take our son with me to the US and she is happy to put this down in writing. There are no court orders in place as we have joint custody at the moment.

I believe that I can add my son onto the K1 visa application, rather than a separate application, but is this the best option? My fear is halfway through the process my son my change his mind or my ex-wife will, how does this affect the visa application?

If the visa is granted for myself and my son, can I enter the country alone if my son can not come with me?

Would I have to change the visa application, or even can I?

Would it be better to apply for a visa for  myself and a separate one for my son?

Obviously I'm looking for the most cost effective way, so applying for one visa is ideal, but I do not want to extend the process time if my son can not come.

Any advice please????

Apparently she got the DHL waybill yesterday (who's incompetent) maybe you are confuse and its always helpful.  From what my hubby and  me has been through I know. So dont try and (CHECK ME BOO)

Please don't be a drama queen on here.  I wasn't attacking you or your husband.  I don't think anyone is completely incompetent. But sometimes someone's answers can be.  I was simply pointing out that it it confusing when two different people tell someone two different answers.  Wouldn't it be more helpful if it was one correct answer? I always try to know the correct answer before I reply.  If I can't answer then I don't try to guess.  It's better to be silent than to give an answer that is incorrect or confusing.  Anyway, no harm done here...it's all good. good.gif

LOL is it now or in 7-10 days?!!  Sometimes I hate the incompetence on here.  Sorry, but it is confusing instead of helpful.

Congrats to you getting your visa!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - December 2013

I never contacted the NVC after my NOA2 was approved.  The case is already forwarded to Moscow.  Do I still need to contact NVC?  I'm not sure what I need to contact them about if the case is already in Moscow, my fiance filed out the DS-160 and made his interview appointment.

With joint sponsors:

- All of the above of the petitioner
- Completed, signed, and dated I-864 of joint sponsor
- Tax information* of joint sponsor (either just the last year OR the last 3 years)
- Proof of US citizenship/residency of joint sponsor (ex: copy of US passport, US birth certificate, US naturalization certificate, or front & back of green card)
- Employment letter of joint sponsor (optional, but good proof of CURRENT income)
- Pay stub(s) of joint sponsor (optional, but good proof of CURRENT income)

If the joint sponsor is a household/family member, also include proof of that relationship (example: if a parent is a joint sponsor, include the petitioner's birth certificate with parents' name on it to show link).

*You have two choices here of what to send in:

- Tax return transcripts ordered from IRS (preferred by NVC and of most consulates/embassies) RECOMMENDED
OR
- Tax returns (1040) and W2s and any other schedules (if applicable)

I was told the only form the co-sponsor needs to fill out is the I-134 Affidavit of Support.  Now I'm reading an up-to-date list of what my fiance needs to bring to his interview and it's very confusing.  I was told the co-sponsor only needs to fill out the I-864 after my fiance and I enter and marry in the U.S.

Regarding those who are deployed please remember that this was by choice.  People do not join the service not knowing that there is a chance of deployment.

I saddened that you feel that telling me to 'suck it up' is helpful when I believe it is clear that I am feeling very depressed.

I should not have posted anything here.

PLEASE don't say that you shouldn't have posted!  Some people are simply heartless and cannot percieve how you feel. The ones who want to help are happy that you posted your feelings because we want to support you. I understand.  With that said, count yourself lucky because my fiance was not allowed a B visa recently because his country is not part of the VWP.  We wanted to visit my family for the holidays.  But that didn't happen because of the K1 still processing.  However, no one should tell you to "suck it up" in such a rude way.  I suggest you find hobbies, spend a lot of time with relatives, talk/skype as much as you can with them, even drinking teas (celestial seasonings is my favorite brand) can really calm you down.  This process is long and hard but if it is successful, in the long run, its worth every tear drop and heart ache.

I did not wait to the last minute. I mailed on Saturday April 12th and was not due at USCIS until Wednesday the 16th. Should have been there in plenty on time.   I didn't mail until the 12th because I was waiting for documents from lawyer.

I have had service issues with USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL. They all have their own particular issues. Unfortunately, all of these services employ humans, and humans make mistakes. All you can hope for is that your specific package does not have any service issues with any of these services when you utilize them. YMMV.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Yes, human make mistakes.  Humans also get lazy and don't do their jobs correctly.  I've found that many people who work for USPS are lazy, rude and vacuous. However, I know some who work for USPS and they're very friendly and helpful.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - December 2013

Just got off the phone after waiting for like 25 minutes. This lady was rude as ........ She was like do you have your approval notice, i was like yes i do...and what is the date on it, i said Dec 7...she was like  can you read down where it says give us 30 days....i'm like yes i see that, i'm just calling because i know it can take a week, two or a month.

Then she goes, you are calling the right number sir, but it can take up to 8 weeks before we get your petition.I'm like ok whatever....

So instead of me wasting time and calling, when would you guys suggest that i should start calling NVC ?

You're not wasting your time.  Call every day if you want.  I call every day.  Just know that some people are nice, and others can be very rude.  Just ignore the rudeness, and keep on going.  I can usually tell from the minute they say "thank you for calling NVC this is ..." whether they have a bad attitude or not.  If they sound rude, I start off by saying "I know it's not been 8 weeks yet, and you may take that long, but I am calling just because I can, and my USCIS receipt number is ...."  The rude people have stopped giving me the 'canned response' in return when I start my sentence basically telling them that I already know that.  The nice people seem happy I called, and when I call and they tell me I still don't have a case number yet, they usually say "Well, is there something I CAN help you with since you've got me on the phone?"  And they usually say "Just keep calling."  Just like calling customer service with your cable/internet/phone/etc service, there are plenty of rude people, but that shouldn't stop you from calling for service.  Just be patient.

I'm going to be in the Phillipines for a bit soon, and I'm waiting on my case number though.  I have all my documents ready to go once I get case number and bills for AOS and Part IV etc, but I'm not sure if I should mail from PI using FedEx or if I should let someone here mail for me.  I always heard it's better and more reliable to mail from US address to NVC, so I didn't want to risk it, but wanted to get others' opinions as well - maybe everyone has had good experiences, or maybe some horror stories.  Just want to be sure before I take all my documents with me on vacation, or leave them here with friend/family/etc.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - December 2013

Two questions:

1 - For those of you that bring photos to the embassy interview of you and your spouse together, how many photos would you typically take?  And if they're digital, what's the best way to present those?  Most of my photos are digital and so I could just print them out on paper as color copies, but didn't know if that was a good idea, or if there are better ideas out there for that.  Any better ideas?

2 - For anyone that has chat logs on Facebook or Skype, is there an easy way to download that information to take to embassy interview?  Or better ideas on how to share that information with embassy for interview?

Thanks!

How long does it take to get a case number from NVC

I was approved on Nov 22 from CSC

I call NVC but they're telling me my case is not transfer yet

Our timelines are pretty similar.  I got NOA2 18 Nov, and when I called NVC today 12-5-13, they said they received it yesterday 12-4-13 (to be honest, yesterday was the FIRST day I had NOT called NVC to check status, and that's the day something changed - maybe I'll NOT call them more often LOL).  So expect within a week or two.  Even though they tell you 8 weeks, it's more like 2-3 weeks to receive the case (like another user said, it waits in the mail room until they scan it into their system), then another 2-4 weeks to assign a case number.

I got case number, sent in DS-261 online, then AOS and IV were available to pay online.  I selected AOS fee, paid it, and now I can't seem to select IV to pay for.  Do I have to wait for one payment to clear the bank (or show as paid) before I can send the other one?  I thought that I could pay them both at the same time.  Thanks.

I keep seeing different answers online about police certificate.  My wife is in the Philippines, and she got Korea Police Certificate at Korean Embassy there in Philippines (I think that's where she got it).  Do we need to mail to NVC the ORIGINAL?  Or is a certified copy alright?  And will she need to bring the original to the interview if we mail in certified copy?

Was your file transferred to a local or another service center from the NBC or was it processed only at NBC?  And it took 8 full weeks to get from NBC to NVC for your case?

OMG i just got approved from my i130 and i realized im not as up to date as i should be with what i have to do with NVC im a lil scared...

First, just take a deep breath.  Even when you think you know everything, you probably don't (as all of us can probably verify), so the best is just to not get too stressed (doesn't help the process).  Read carefully through the first two posts here, and many of the comments, and you should be fine.  :-)  Good luck.

Ahhh got my NOA-2 on November 13th...still waiting for case number..this is like the USCIS process all over again

I'm right there with you, I'm a week behind with November 18th NOA2.

This part almost seems worse because there seem to be so many different steps in between and so many different ways to screw up and be sent back to the 'back of the line' to start over.

And then just more and more waiting between each step, with no 'good' estimate of completion.  Just "30 days" or "8 weeks" is what I keep seeing/hearing regarding each step, until the end, of course, when AFTER it's complete, we could STILL be waiting one to three months just to get an interview at the embassy!

Sigh...

I asked the question to NVC this morning wen I called about if they had received my case yet, and the lady told me to not leave ANYTHING blank regardless of what the forms say. I believe I was told similar advice when I filled out other forms in the past.

It all depends Pakistan is a very busy embassy you are in the queue for January depends how many are in front of you. Most wait 2 months for your embassy after case complete. Next week they should start assigning. Hope foe the best.

Is there a way to see the Philippine embassy timeline?  Do you have a timeline for that?  Or do I just have to go through all the forums and try to count, then guess?  Or is there an easy link somewhere already.

I maintain the case complete interview list and stay on top of all happenings if I can. The December interviews started October 28th and ended November 7th. Someone called for India and they said they are done.

Yes calling NVC they can tell you if a embassy is fiull for the coming month.

Most of the embassies when they schedule they are done. Some of the less frequent ones they get assigned soon as a Case Complete like a Iceland and other smaller places with lesss Visa traffic.

Take a look see at December thread. We started this Case Complete Interview thread September 2012. It's hamdy so when people ask what is the waiting timer from case complete to interview you now have a place to go and see.

Thanks for the info.  I'll add that link to my favorites and try to follow along.
