I'm thinking that we file for an extension but I wanted to see if anyone else had done that?

We filed an extension without any issues. I'll look and see if I can find the info they sent us on how to go about doing it...

Hey guys smile.gif

We just did Ben's biometrics apt this last week and are preparing ourselves for the AOS interview in the next few weeks. I'm trying to figure out what things we should be gathering up to provide proof of relationship. So far, I've come up with copy of our lease with both our names on it, bank statement of joint account (will it hurt us if this account doesn't have much activity? Should I include a copy of the bank account in his and my mother's name as well? Long story short, my ex-husband screwed up a ####### load of bills while we were separated but before we were divorced, so my name is still attached to the bills even though I had nothing to do with making them. Therefor my bank accounts can get garnished, so I deposit money into my mother's account to pay bills with--not sure if this would help us, as my mom is willing to add him to the account, or hurt us because of the financial aspect.), and we're getting family photos taken this week (as well as including some regular snapshots taken by friends/family and wedding photos). What else should I add in here? Is the above sufficient proof? I always feel like I'm over thinking these things, but would rather be too prepared than under prepared!

Hope everyone is doing well! Good luck to you guys nearing your interviews!!

Just a quick update about the social security number issue--apparently the forms are misleading when they ask you if you want a ssn assigned for you when you submit them to the embassy! After some research, it appears that is only the case if you file as a CR-1, not a K-1! K-1 has to go down and apply for it in person.

For those of you still yet to come over, make sure your fiance knows to check for their I-94 at their POE (needed for AOS as well as for SSN). I knew we needed it, but thought it was another form to download later on and didn't know it was supposed to be slipped in his passport upon entrance--and LAX somehow managed to not give it back to my husband when he was processed. We nearly ended up paying $320 to file for a replacement! Thankfully, we got a great CBP officer here in Spokane that we sweet talked into replacing it for us for free! (First time in this process something went our way, lol!)

I'm sure our experience with it is not the norm of course, but it doesn't hurt to remind your fiance to check it's given back to them when they arrive and avoid the hassle later if it isn't smile.gif

Good luck to those coming up on their interviews!!

Hi all!

Just wanted to let you all know Ben made it here safe and sound and we had the wedding Monday evening smile.gif It was simple but beautiful and we're so excited about going forward from here!

Quick question--how long should it take to receive his ssn? We ticked the box for them to assign him one, it does get sent to him in the mail then, correct? We can't get him ID or a bank account, etc. etc. right now!

Looking at getting AOS stuff started next week--not looking forward to another round of paperwork, but at least we're together to do it this time!!

Hope all are well and good luck to the people just starting their journey!

Hello my fellow Aussies,

Has been a long time since I posted down here, but I must admit this website makes me depressed lately. Anyhow, Congrats to all the recent approvals, and I hope you have all safe flights. To those who have just started out, Good luck with your journey I hope it is speedy.

As for me, well we have nearly reached the 11th month in the K1 system, tis a fun place, and are currently in the process of (put simply) suing USCIS. Our lawyer thinks at the way things are going we should have our court date this week (for next week or the following) and then hopefully our NOA2 by the end of August, if everything goes to plan hopefully I will be home come Thanksgiving.

Chris and I have given up on this waiting apart ####### so I am heading back to the states either way on the 4th of August, to at the very least spend some of the summer there with him, and his family. Something I am very looking forward too. Hopefully LAX officers will be in a good mood that morning and I will once again have a simple passage through customs.

Hope everyone up over is having a wonderful summer, and everyone stuck down under has found a warm place to hide from this horrid weather.

Mara

Awww, hun, I hope they wrap it up quickly for you once the court stuff happens sad.gif What's their excuse for holding it up so long?

Jesse and I might have found a co-sponsor... woohoo! We were hoping we could scrape by without one but if this works out, it will be so much less to stress about biggrin.gif

How's everyone doing? A couple of people aren't too far away from interviews now... good luck!

Congrats SCF!! It sure was a load off our minds when we had the same smile.gif

We are doing horrible, lol!! Ben's stuck in Oz until July 19th--he promised his boss he would stay for an extra month to retrain someone to take over his position. While I commend him for being a loyal employee and all--FFS, I just want my man home with me!! tongue.gif

Wedding is set for August 3rd, not much time to finish making my dress! Not much time left for most of this stuff, but I'm sure we'll manage and all of this will have been worth every minute!!

Hope everyone else is doing well too! good.gif

Congrats Kaffy!! Are you doing this just so you guys can move there as a possibility or is that a definitive plan?

Ben had his interview this morning--and he's approved!! He promised his boss he would stay til the 15th of next month to help get someone new trained to take his place, but we expect to have him on a flight home within the week after! I'm bouncing off the walls!! All that worrying and stress, and he was asked where I live and where and when we're getting married and then said congrats! Thank gods that hurdle is over!! A short break now until we have to get started with the next one!

When you get the NOA1, what happens exactly? Does he get one emailed and then a hard copy sent? Or can you just tell when the check is cashed?

We didn't receive any info by email, we simply got a hard copy sent to us. We also sent ours certified and got the card back from the post office showing the delivery confirmation, so we knew it was on it's way shortly. I paid by money order, so that's all I had to go on, but I'm sure checking with your bank to see when the check is cashed is also a good way to know.

Hey, my interview is on June 9th at 8am as well!!! I may see you there laughing.gif

Actually, its Ben that has the same interview date and time as me wacko.gif

As for flights...Ben can go from Sydney to Honolulu...Ive entered there several times and its always a breeze to get through. Ive done direct syd to honolulu which is 9 hrs and direct from honolulu to NY which is about 11 hours. Also, flights from honolulu are mostly on time and hassle free...Immigration at the POE are all very friendly which is a plus!

LOL, just look for the really nervous guy there, that'll be Ben tongue.gif

He's going to be flying from Brisbane, not Sydney--is the same kind of flight available?

Also, I'm looking into airline prices and available flights to get an idea, and wondering--does he have to go through POE in LA, or can he do that at any international airport? Seattle would be closer, so would love to get him in through there if possible!

Hiya Aussies!

Can someone please help me out and let me know what the NOA2 looks like?? I received an email on Feb 25th telling me I'd been approved.....but now I'm trying to organise all my paperwork and my US fiance swears black and blue that he never received the NOA2 in the mail. He for sure has the NOA1 and a letter from the NVC but no NOA2 (or is the letter the NOA2??) Arrrgh I'm so confused! I know I'll need it for AOS later but do I need it for the interview?

Hi myperfectflaw! Was just wondering how you went about getting an extension? Did you just email the Consulate or is there a form involved?? Thinking I maybe might need one
sad.gif

Thanks all! smile.gif

NOA2 looks like the NOA1, more or less.

Per e-mail from Sydney:

"As your I-129F petition is nearing its expiration date or will have expired by the time you attend your final visa interview, it will need to be revalidated. To revalidate your petition, please have your U.S. citizen fiancé immediately fax this office a signed, dated letter requesting that your petition be extended for an additional four months.

The letter from your U.S. citizen fiancé should state his/her intention to still marry you within 90 days of your arrival into the U.S. with the K-1 visa and that you both are still free to marry.

Your application will be extended when the revalidation request is approved. We will only contact you with further instructions if this request has been denied.

Our fax number is [61] (2) 9373-9185. We will only accept a scanned original document via e mail.

If you have requested that your interview be postponed, please advise our office as to which month you would prefer your new interview to be scheduled for.

Sincerely,

Immigrant Visa Unit

U.S. Consulate General, Sydney"

We couldn't get the fax to go through, so I sent it through e-mail. No news yet, so hopefully that means it's accepted!

Hi, I am in the process of organising my police check and the US embassy site says that if you live in QLD or NSW your police check will be fowarded directly to the consulate which takes approximatley 3 weeks. Can i get this done if i have my NOA2 but not my packet 3 yet? Or do i need to wait for the packet 3? Thanks!!

You can go ahead and do it once you have the NOA2...both police certificate and medical are good for up to one year per recent e-mail with Sydney. If we had waited for packet 3, we would have been waiting forever--he never received his in the mail! I got the info from the consulate through e-mail and we took care of it that way. Good luck!

Hey all!

Congrats to everyone that's gotten their visa's approved and to all the newly weds, hope life is wonderful for you guys!

We had some hiccups in our process and things had to be put on hold, but now we're back in the swing of things. I sent Ben the rest of the info for his packet 3 at the beginning of the month and he sent it off to the consulate. However, thinking back through it all, I realized I forgot to include my updated letter of continuing support of the K-1 and intent on marrying him within 90 days of arrival. Soooo....should I just send this to him now and he take it with him to the interview? Or should I send it in to the consulate myself? Seems like just bringing it with to the interview should suffice, but I don't want anymore hiccups than we've already had! Back to stressing, lol!

And can someone explain the payment dealie, where you have to bring the receipt with you to the interview. It's US 130 last I checked, but is it purchased in the equivalent AU dollar amount, or does the post office put it in US? I feel stupid for asking, but like I said, I wanna make sure we're gonna get through the remainder of this process as smoothly as possible!

Hope everyone is well!

Can someone please verify for me what the address for CSC is if sending by USPS? I have the P.O. Box 10130 address listed on my letter of intent heading, I'm assuming that won't matter if I have to send to the actual address, correct? We'll finally be ready to mail it off on Monday!!

Hi

Me and my wife have not seen each other for over a year.
Mainly because of my job. Where I'm never home and always work offshore and have no exact dates of being home. Once I'm home I can leave offshore anytime again. Also this entire time I was gonna go back to the USA as soon as I was getting my visa but the unexpected FBI name check which took over 6 months made this separation even longer for us.

So please let me how bad can that affect me at the interview at the end of Sept. All this time we of course talked on the phone everyday and have lots of emails and chat logs to submit.

Thanks

I know how you feel, haven't seen my wife in 10 months. With all the paperwork, waiting on NVC, jobs and the like it is a little unrealistic if immigration expects us to fly around the world every few months...unless of course USCIS wishes to pay for my flights.. in which case I would go every month tongue.gif Hang in there Azer..nothing lasts forever..except waiting for NVC..
