Starting to worry a little. Sent my package out on the 12th, checked with USPS online and it said it was delivered on the 19th. Still no NOA. I guess I'm still in the normal wait time, but it's hard seeing others that sent their packages after me already getting their NOA! I'm probably more up tight over it all because for some reason I didn't make a complete copy of this package before I dropped it off. Just totally slipped my mind in the rush to get it off! So, now I'm imagining everything that can go wrong probably is :P Hoping tomorrow brings good news in the mail!

Please don't assume that I have not done any research or read the guides just because I asked a question. Yes, you are right in that the I-751 instructions do not require copies of the passport. However, the sample cover letter (which I got FROM the VJ guides page) shows "copies of green card & passport of beneficiary." So my question was simply, do you think I should copy all pages of the passport or just the info page and the ones with stamps showing visits back home? And would it be beneficial to also show copies of my stamps showing we went together? I previously posted in this forum a full list of all the evidence I am including but got no response, so I will post them again:
• Copies of the passport and green card of Josue Cacerez.
• Two sworn affidavits by U.S. citizen friends, attesting to our relationship and marriage.
• Copy of tax transcripts from our 2009 & 2010 joint Federal tax returns.
• Copy of the Designation of Beneficiary form showing Josue as the beneficiary of my life insurance.
• Copy of our car loan through Beacon Credit Union, showing us as joint borrowers.
• Copy of our July 2011 electric bill from Appalachian Power showing joint account.
• Copy of our July 2011 cable bill from Comcast showing joint account.
• Copies of various credit cards showing the same account number.
• Copy of most recent Auto Policy Declarations with Allstate showing joint coverage.
• Partial copy of Advance Medical Directive showing Josue Cacerez as my legal Health-Care Agent.
• Copy of both Virginia Driver's Licenses showing same address.
• Various photos of events we have attended together since our marriage.
• Ultrasound photos of our first child, a baby girl we are expecting on December 24, 2011.

My other concern was that the copies of bills we have do not prove that we have been living together all this time - should I try to get a few old bills also? We have done online billing the whole time so it may be hard to track them down, but I will certainly try if it is going to make a difference.

We do all our bills online and it was simple enough to go to our accounts and print off pages there. Not sure how that is hard to track down?

We only copied the important pages of my husband's passport, skipped all the empty pages. Unfortunately, we haven't received our NOA1 yet, so no idea if we'll get an RFE for not enough, but I highly doubt it. It's one of the few things I'm not worried about in our package!

Your package seems pretty sound in my opinion.

Just a note, the case number on my Biometric letter is different from the case number on my NOA1 but all the information on both letters matches the only thing that does not is the case number.

I tried to add both of the case numbers and only the new number on the biometrics appointment will work and shows up my case status now.

What is the site you're using to track your case? Would like to book mark it so it's ready to go when my number shows up :)

Right when I think it's finally over and things are great and I have my man and we are happy.... October seems to creep up on me. It's the month of Halloween and I am already nervous even though it's September. Like the Gobblins are coming to get us. It's like this one last step to finally being free and not having to worry that someone is going to rip him away from me. I am so in love. I hope they see that and leave us alone once and for all. I wish all of you the best of luck in your removal of conditions. Keep your fingers crossed for us. *hugs*

We haven't quite made our pink slip yet..but strangely enough we worry about the lifting of conditions down the road..so we know exactly how you feel. I bet you do just fine tho...Best luck!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 co-sponsor questions
Thanks for the reply. Let me give a little more background on my situation and ask a couple of follow-up questions.

I've been fully employed for the past 22 years and was laid off from a 6-figure job. My 401k alone has 10x the 125% level and I have stock options, savings, and 10 months of severance.

Has anyone gone through a similar situation and passed the affidavit of support hurdle without a co-sponsor?

Regarding co-sponsors, I believe my parents' pensions easily surpass the 125% poverty level minimum. For those of you with a co-sponsor in a similar situation, did your co-sponsor provide anything more than just a statement from their pension provider documenting that income?

My goal is to find out what the absolute minimum information my parents need to provide and see based on others experiences if we really need them to co-sponsor.

Thanks again,
FangKeLei

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 co-sponsor questions
Hi,

I was just laid off from my job today after 18 years of service and we are expecting that my fiancee's interview is in late August. Prior to the lay-off, we would have easily met the affidavit of support requirements. Now however, I need to ask my parents' to co-sponsor. They naturally have some questions and my mom is very concerned about her privacy.

As the petitioner I'm planning on providing the following for my I-134:
- 3 years tax returns if available
- 3 months of bank statements
- stock option statement
- 401k statement
- final paychecks
- copy of severance package description
- copy of personal business incorporation
- copies of job applications

Hopefully, this alone will show sufficient assets and intent to continue.working. However, to be extra safe, I've asked my parents to co-sponsor. My question is for those of you with co-sponsors, what is the minimum information they provided. For example, did they just provide enough information and documentation to show an income meeting 125% of the appropriate poverty level, or did they provide multiple years of tax returns, bank statements, and retirement annuity statements?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
PPFKL

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 question 11
I and my co-sponsor are filling out our I-134's for my fiancee's interview (hopefully in August). We are wondering about question 11 (do or do not intend to make specific contributions). I was going to put "not intend" in since we'll be living in the same home. My co-sponsor was going to put "intend". What did you do and did you get your pink slip the first time around? If you had a co-sponsor, what did they do?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVery unique issue
Hi, everyone.

Just needing some advice as my fiance will have his packet 3 shortly and then on to the interview.

Anyway, my fiance has short-term memory problems since a horrific automobile accident nearly 10 years ago. However, he is now in perfect health and can work. He does, however, just suffer from short-term memory loss but has little tricks that help him get by from day to day.

My question is this: should he bring it up at his medical interview? Also, he will probably have difficulty remembering some of the things they may ask him at the interview (i.e. my banking info, when exactly we met, dates, etc)... should he mention it to the immigration officer or no?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Lesley

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionIncome stuff
Hi, there. My embassy (France) requires the I 864 for the interview, so therefore I need 3 years of tax returns. I was a student and made very little income during those 3 years, but started working as an RN in April of 2006 and since that time have been well above the poverty guidelines. I haven't yet filed my 2006 return. With the I864, do they require the most recent tax return to be 125% of the poverty guidelines or do they go by your current income (I have a letter from my employer stating my annual income)??? Help! Do I need to file that tax return asap to show I make enough?

Hey guys, got a question for you all! My brother-in-law is wanting to come visit us from AU for about a month. We live 2 hours from the CA border and we've talked about wanting to make a trip up there while he's here. Are we going to need a special visa for him, like a multiple entry visa or something? All we can do is try eh lol. We're going to get a nice family portrait done of the 4 of us when we go over next and I might get a few of just him and I. I will be keeping everything next time. I will even keep receipts if I purchase something in the airports etc.

I don't take stock much in the picture aspect of it all, as both interviews we had they were ignored, LOL! Not to say you shouldn't just in case, but I was all panicking trying to get family pictures done in time and then to have them not even want to look, it was frustrating! It seems, if you have all your paperwork in order and no red flags jumping out, it's a pretty painless and straight forward process and they just wanna process you and move on. In some ways, that was a great thing, but in others, it was a tough cookie to swallow when you put so much time and effort into gathering all the evidences and stuff!

I wish I could help you on the kid part, but that wasn't a situation we had to deal with since the only kids we have are mine. It seems like such a pain, but it honestly sounds like something you might wanna check in with a lawyer for, just to cover your tush. Good luck with it all!

Thanks for the congrats! It was a long awaited day and worth every minute of it! :)

Hey Giggles, yeah you're right. It would look a little suspect. I am thinking that we might have to make one more trip over there, before we start the Visa process. I guess it will make it even longer before we can start the Visa, as I don't want to travel while the baby is still so young. I was thinking of going about October/November. If I do that, then we can make sure we have heaps of photos. He doesn't have any photos of the last time we were together unfortunately.

Just remember, photos are considered secondary evidence and don't prove anything (some really good photoshoppers out there!). Even travel itinerary's are not much help as all they do is prove that you booked them, not that you used them (case in point, the ones you purchased and then changed!). You need stamps in your passport and actual travel tickets showing you went through the motions. If you don't have that stuff, I would definitely think about making a second trip at some point. This is an awfully expensive and time consuming process to take chances that you might have enough evidence to satisfy them! Pictures and stuff are great additions to the file, but it's the provable pieces that will help you have a successful interview!

Hi everyone

I would just like to introduce myself and have a few questions that I hope some of you can help me with or point me in the right direction :)

My name is Jaime, live in Melbourne and my parter is in Washington State. We have known each other a couple of years and actually have a baby boy together, who is one month old.

We are about to start the K1 process and I have a few questions. I am so very new to all this and after reading the first few pages, a lot of the terminology you guys have used has just about given me a seisure LOL. I'm sure I'll pick up on it all sooner or later.

Ok now for the questions.

My partner has looked online and gave me this site http://www.apvisa.com/ to look at, regarding applying for the Visa. They charge $999 but it looks fishy to me! Can't we just apply by printing out the K1 Petition form and sending it away? (I told you we don't know much about the whole process lol).

Is the K1 petition filled out online and emailed to where ever it needs to go or does it have to be printed and posted out?

Roughly how much does the whole process cost, Visa application, medicals, Police check etc etc and can someone give me a low down of the step by step process of the whole application process?

Do they only do the interviews in Sydney or do they do them in other capital cities too (Melbourne?). Does all the paperwork have to be sent to Sydney?

I think that's all for now, sorry for such a long post. I'm looking forward to sharing my hopefully GOOD and SMOOTH Visa experience with you all :)

Oh before I go, I have looked at the FAQ's for the K1, so sorry if I've asked something here that I may have missed in the faq section :)

Hi Jaime, welcome to the boards! I'm also from WA state, where abouts will you be headed to?

As for your questions--

Yes, you can absolutely do this yourself and save that $1000 price tag--assuming you have a very typical and straight forward case. Most people do. It's time consuming and can be confusing at times, but it is very doable, as just about everyone here has done it!

One of your first steps is to click the blue tab up above that says "guides" and start there with the K-1 guide. That outlines the whole first portion of this process. It looks intimidating at first! Don't let it scare you away! I found it much simpler to make a very specific check list with each item that needed to be done. Check them off as you go, one item at a time, and the task is much less daunting! I believe I still have my old check list around somewhere if you want to check it out. Some of the stuff needs to be done right away, some of it at a later time, closer to the interview date (such as the medical and police records).

Prices will vary. Last I saw, the filing fee for K-1 was still $455 I believe...although there was word going around that that will be going up in the near future by as much as $200! If that's the case, get to work putting this together soon! Medical depends on what you have/need done, and varies by doctor. Click on Embassy info up above and go to the AU one--there should still be a list of doctor's that do the medical in your area and you can call around. My husband paid around $250 for his, but he only needed a few shots to catch him up really.

I forget now how much it was, but police check was around $150ish I think? That info is also found on the Embassy Info page.

Sydney is the only consulate that process's K-1 applications, so no choice there.

Some of the info will be sent in by your fiance to the California Service Center(since you're in WA, you'll be routed to CA) here in the US. Once that is approved, it will get sent to the consulate in Sydney and you will be required to furnish a few more items to them. That's all outlined in the guides though. They are your friend! Please take the time to read them and get familiar with the process, it will benefit you immensely, I promise!

And if you still have questions, feel free to ask again here--we have some awesome members in this thread with lots of personal experience to help you out, as well as the general K-1 threads! You can also drop me a line personally if you'd like, I check my e-mail far more frequently than I log on to this site, so I can respond quicker that way if I can help you-- charmarie.pitman@gmail.com

Good luck on your journey!

For the money transfers -- why not use PayPal? Eric sends money from his PayPal to my PayPal account & I withdraw it down into my Australian bank account. The fees are minimal...I mean we are talking a couple of dollars. From PayPal to my bank account -- 3 days -- 5 days if around a public holiday. This is the system we will be using once I am stateside to send money to my parents.

I second this. We transfer money between our account and Ben's parents account frequently and this is what we use to do it. It does take a couple days, but it's so cheap that it's a small price to pay in our opinion!

LOL, that's why I've been looking for ways for the last 6 months!! Never thought the stuff here was that bad til I went to see my hubby and had Bundy. Now, I can't tolerate the taste of our stuff and the hubby won't even call it rum, lmao! Can't wait til his paycheck is cashed tonight so we can get our order in! Thinking if we order in small quantities at a time it will draw less attention, so only going for one bottle this time. Will let you know if we're successful smile.gif

Hey all!

Just found out some fantastic news and wanted to share with those who might be interested!

Hubby and I have been trying to figure out how to get Bundaberg rum over here since neither of us care for the brands sold in the US. We thought we could just have friends/family send us over a bottle or two, but found out that that wasn't a possibility.

After some research and several emails, I found an online company that will ship to the US and that has a 99.9% success rate with getting the bottles through. They stated that the 0.1% that do not make it to their destination always get returned to them and you have the option of paying postage again to try resending it or to have the purchase price refunded if you choose not to try again. They can't guarantee delivery but they have had minimal problems with it.

So, if you're a Bundy fan and miss it, the site is http://www.royalmilewhiskies.com/ (and of course, there's more than just Bundy on there!). We'll be sending off an order this weekend and will let you know how ours works out!

Cheers!

Hi guys

Just a quick question for those who have had their interviews already, should I bring more photos with me to the interview? I sent in alot of evidence with the packet but wondering if they are likely to ask for more?

The packet had about 20 photos in it, and emails, IMs, flights, receipts, wedding preparations etc

Thanks for your advice

-N

It can't hurt to be prepared, but it seems like no one going through Sydney is asked for anything more than what was already submitted (my husband brought a whole stack of stuff and it wasn't even glanced at). If it eases your mind, by all means do it. But don't be surprised when it's not asked for yes.gif

I'm thinking that we file for an extension but I wanted to see if anyone else had done that?

We filed an extension without any issues. I'll look and see if I can find the info they sent us on how to go about doing it...
