K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHow can we help Estadia (Sara)??
Awww you all are amazing! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

I'm sorry that my story has pretty much killed this thread for Sara and Perviz. Please everyone... if there's one thing you can do for me, it's getting a petition going for them! No two people should ever be forced to be apart like this!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHow can we help Estadia (Sara)??
Unfortunately, I'm not up to this task anymore. Feel free to copy the petition draft that I started. I just am not really able to function at all at this point. Although you can no-longer count on me to write the petition, you can still count on my signature.

I flew to Ontario from Washington State after Chris' father called me to tell me that Chris had been hit by a car while crossing the street. When I arrived, I found Chris laying in a coma in a hospital bed in ICU with a black eye and brain damage so severe that his head was swelling. The hospital told us that he would not recover and it was only a matter of time. Later that night, his parents decided to cut his life support and he died within a few hours.

I hadn't seen Chris since November. He always said, "we'll see each other soon enough... why waste the money?"

I know this whole process of waiting sucks, but... be grateful that you have someone to wait for, because it could be gone just like that.

I'll be gone from VJ for a while, but... part of me wants to become some sort of immigration activist. So, we'll see.

Take care everyone, and best of luck to all of you on your visa journey!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHow can we help Estadia (Sara)??
Alright... Here's the first draft of the petition (unless someone else is already writing one). Let me know what you all think. Is it too simple? Should I elaborate more? Any grammatical errors? Was anyone else planning on writing it? If so, you can just disregard this! I plagiarized a bit from one of KimandRuss' posts. I hope that's okay!

So once we have a final draft, we'll need to figure out who to ask permission from here on VJ before starting the signatures. I really like JeroenAndMichelle's idea about mailing all the signatures to one location.

Thanks for any and all input. Let's get this thing moving!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHow can we help Estadia (Sara)??
Whoa! I didn't notice this thread until just now. I was talking to my fiancé on the phone a few hours ago about Sara and Perviz. Then we started talking about how we should start a petition... I even started writing one, but everyone here is totally on the ball! I don't think there's a person alive that wouldn't sign a petition on your behalf, Sara. Not only are you the sweetest person on VJ, but what you've gone through is completely unacceptable. Pretty much everyone in my life knows about your story and agrees that what USCIS has put you two through is terrible. I'll get friends/family/co-workers to sign too!

Maybe we can do an online petition on www.PetitionOnline.com so we can have all signatures in the same place and do some sort of press release about it and one on Google Docs to print out, sign, and mail to our individual congresspersons? Or maybe having two copies (one online and one on paper) of the same petition isn't such a good idea. I dunno...

I think the petition will get the attention of those who hold power over this process and the media! good.gif And if not... there's always protesting naked at our local federal buildings! devil.gif

Sara, I know we don't really know each other... but I will do anything for you and Perviz. You deserve your NOA2.

You all let me know if there's anything I can do!

Sometimes I feel like a petulant child who wants to scream “It’s not fair! They haven’t done their time yet!!!” I know it’s childish and mean and I don’t begrudge them their approvals in the least but couldn’t it be Sara, Brian or some of the other “old timers”… or even me? blush.gif

I know that we'll get that all allusive approval one day but it is so hard to stay strong.

Well, I don't scream "It's not fair! They haven't done their time yet!!!" when I read the fast approval threads, but I sure as heck think it! I'd really love to smack that adjudicator over the head, shove an "old timer's" petition in their face and say, "approve this!" This system is so broken. It's ridiculous and frustrating to no end. I know I haven't said much here since I got my NOA2, but you all are still in my thoughts everyday. I wish there was something I could do.

What a joke. I walk up to the window and the lady says to me...
"Why have you let this go on for a year??"
"You haven't been trying very hard have you?"
"Are you guys even still together?" Now why would I be here if we weren't?
Then she says she can't help me, I should write to them in California and that they have not served me very well.
Wow! Am I glad I drove 110 miles and spent 4 hours of my time to hear that!!!!

If I were you, I'd contact local media like a newspaper or television station and pitch my story. Waiting for 1.5 years should be enough to get somebody to write or investigate something. Shame them into doing something with your case.

Also, are you talking to the CSC or to the normal 1-800 number?

I agree! I'm always reading in the newspaper about some person who overstayed their visa and wants everyone's pity. I've never read a story really exposing how messed up the legal immigration system is, and I think it would be a good story to get out there. And it'll definitely light a fire under someone's butt at CSC for ya!

Oh, I just refreshed the page. How can they not be interested in this? sad.gif

And I thought I'd share a website I found... I don't know how much it will help you all, or if you already have contact information for CSC. It even says it's "For Designated School Official use only. Do NOT share contact information with students nor attorneys." rofl.gif I've never tried any of the contacts myself. 6 months is BS. I just heard back from my Senator's office and they said 120 days but call back in 90 if you aren't approved. We are stuck in the background check unit.

I think the wait depends on how interested they are in helping you.

I heard back from my senator's office today. The letter was dated yesterday. I really doubt they contacted CSC. It's only been 3 days since I went down to my senator's office and my case hasn't been touched since then. The letter stated that my "fiancé's case is being held pending a routine security clearance." And there's no estimate on how long that may take. In the letter, they said to contact them again in 90 days. I wonder if anyone has ever had this fast of a response from a senator's office.

Sigh.

I finally got a hold of someone uscis and he told me they were currently working on cases from july 15 so we're "getting pretty close". I know I'm not the first person to hear that but at least its something. whistling.gif

That's so weird. When I called, I just said, "I believe I'm outside processing dates." The lady I talked to seemed a bit confused because she had two conflicting processing dates, so she transferred me. I even called after it had been six months from the "Received Date" and not the "Notice Date" according to my NOA1. I don't understand how they can say they're working on cases from July 15 when the website says "6 months." It doesn't say, "6 months and a couple weeks." Maybe try calling with your "Received Date" from your NOA1 if that was before July 15.

Well, I got the automated response to my service request today, accompanied by a touch. I'm going down to my Congresswoman's office tomorrow. Should be fun.

"Your case is in line for processing. Based on the current processing time, you may receive a notice of action* within 45 days. However, some cases require additional background checks and this may further delay processing for at least another six months." I can't even try to think of what waiting another six months for an NOA2 would feel like.

Hope it's your approval on it's way Oana! Here's hoping for lots of approvals! I'm officially moved in today and it's way too crowded in here. tongue.gif

Hey y'all.

According to my NOA1, CSC received my petition exactly 6 months ago. So I called USCIS. I was transferred to some chick who told me that she would contact CSC and I'd hear back from them within 30 days as to what the hold up is. Does anyone know if should I just expect to get a letter back saying, "You're in Security Checks" or has this ever actually helped anyone? Should I still contact my senator or wait until I've received this mysterious response from CSC?

Thanks!

Well, I shall be joining you all soon: unofficially tomorrow, officially on the 28th. Seems a bit crowded in here though. No one has been approved to make room for PB&JAM and Corinthians. I'm going to want to bring some of my things with me to this thread, so I'll need A LOT of space. So looks like we're going to need at least... oh... maybe a dozen approvals before I join. biggrin.gif I'll let both the service centers know. laughing.gif

In all seriousness, I'm so sorry that it's taking so long for your NOA2s. Reading through this thread, I feel like a selfish idiot. All day, all I can think is, "Oh poor me, I've waited almost six months!" I can't imagine waiting as long as some of you have been. I really hope that all of you are approved VERY SOON.

So, anyone find it odd that when we sign on to USCIS's website, we select "customer?" Yeah, we're paying customers. I'm kind of afraid to call USCIS. I'm afraid that I'll lose it on the phone and be a total b*tch. Part of me doesn't even want to try to be nice, but the other part knows it's probably best not to tick off people who have my whole life in their hands.

I know this isn't a very happy thought, but... is it possible that USCIS has lost some petitions here? Do they ever admit to that?

This is turning into a novel.

Again, I hope you all get your NOA2s ASAP!

Hey y'all! Hope everyone had a very merry Christmas!

So I thought I would just vent a bit here. I took a shot last week and called NVC to see if by chance those touches a few weeks ago were an approval that was never sent or updated on CRIS. The woman at NVC informed me that they didn't have my case, but insisted that as a July filer, I should have received my approval, and that NVC should have my case. She told me to call USCIS. I even said, "They're just going to tell me that I'm within the processing dates," but she insisted I call them. So against my better judgement, I called USCIS. Even though I expected them to say, “You’re still within the processing time,” I still got really frustrated when she “informed” me that I was still within the processing time. She began reading something to me and at one point, I just said, “Can you stop reading that? I already know that. Is there anything you can tell me that’s specific to my case?” I ended up hanging up on her. Here’s hoping that they can’t put anything on my file like, “Wow, what a witch. Make this chick wait as long as possible!” Hehe

Well here’s hoping the rest of the process is super fast and easy for all of you with NOA2s! And here’s hoping that those of us without NOA2s don’t end up in the Six Month Club!

So what did everyone get from their SOs for Christmas? I got a couple dvds and a bottle of perfume. We had a cap on how much we allowed ourselves to spend on each other since money will be very tight while waiting for EAD.

First of all, congrats to all those who have been approved! kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif And good luck to everyone else still waiting!

So, I had two touches last week (4th and 5th), but nothing: no approval, no RFE, no new touches. I'm sure I'm worrying for nothing and that my approval will come eventually. I filed pretty late in July, so I didn't expect to get a touch so soon. I was kind of hoping that maybe they had issued the NOA2 without updating CRIS, but after seeing that Kookland (congratulations! kicking.gif ) already got their NOA2 in the mail after a couple touches this week, I'm not holding out much hope. I keep telling myself to just wait it out, but I'm growing increasingly nervous that it was only touched to be moved to the "Let's-Not-Adjudicate-This-File-'Til-March-Box." Sigh.

Hello... I agree with Nik+Heather here. You never know what kinda loops USCIS is gonna put you through. When I first started this process, I thought we'd have a lovely winter wedding. Then I discovered how slow the Montreal consulate is, and assumed we'd have a March/April wedding. In January (after six months of waiting), I received a letter from CSC stating that our case could be another six months. Somehow we finally received an approval and now I'm hoping for September.

Whatever you decided to do, good luck! good.gif

I know this isn't the purpose of your thread here, but... Just thought I would point out that there's still quite a bit of waiting between NOA2 and POE, especially if your SO will be interviewing in Montreal. Here are some helpful links to give you an idea:

According to this, the approximate wait time between Packet 3 being sent back and interview is 4 to 6 months.

Best of luck to you!
