US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMY fiance Interview is in three more days
Christina,

When I was following up on my wife's passport after her K3 interview, I was told by VFS that they can hold the passport at their office in New Delhi if my wife wanted to pick it up. She didn't. She was in Chandigarh. The VFS in Chandigarh insisted on delivering it to her address.

Good luck.

My fiance interview is in three more days and he will be trying to fly out on the 20th or possibly earlier has to help white wash and do some last minute things then when he gets here we have to get ready for our wedding which will be December 16th woohooo Praise the Lord so very excited here now...just waiting for his interview and then his visa...Question can he ask to pick his visa up at the VFS office? He is having his interview in New Delhi India wish us luck! Has anyone else from New delhi pick up their passport and visa from the VFS office?

Sincerly a very happy fiancee in waiting,
Christina

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAnyone going through the embassy in New Delhi?
My wife's K3 interview in New Delhi was relatively easy. The lady interviewing her didn't ask anything tricky - just asked where and how we first met, asked to see documents they had asked for in the interview letter, my letter of employment, I-134, recent 1040 and asked her to flip through the photo album.

Best of luck.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDelhi Packet 3
CKS,
You need to send back DS230 and the statement that you have all the required documents ready - that would be the "Applicant Statement" on page 2. They will mail you packet 4 with interview date and instructions for medical after they receive these back from you.
Regarding your other question, you are now required to submit documents to the VFS office. That wasn't the case when my wife had her K3 interview in April.

Thanks Sachin for the quick reply. I am unclear about what you said about packet 4 being sent after packet 3. If I can't send packet 3 until I receive packet 4, then why do I have to send packet 3 in as soon as possible so that I will receive packet 4. Sorry if I am missing what you are saying. Are you saying that packet 4 will come only after packet 3 is mailed in ? Btw, all I had in packet 3 is the DS230 part 1 and instructions to collect all relevant documents. Thanks.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionre-interview in Mumbai
Sachinator,

In my opinion, if they kept her passport she is approved and will get the visa.
Regarding picking up the passport from VFS, I don't think embassy controls whether you can or can not, VFS does. Your wife should be able to call VFS and ask if they would let her do that. When my wife was waiting for her passport, I called VFS from here and they did offer to hold the passport at the New Delhi office if my wife wanted to pick it up. By the way, VFS got my wife's passport back from New Delhi Embassy 12 days after the interview.

Good luck.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionK1 Police Certificate India
My wife got her Police Clearance from Chandigarh in Apr. She had to apply for one at the Police Headquarters stating the purpose it was needed for and they issued her a standard certificate they have.

I was wondering if there is any standard form used for the police certificates? My fiancé is from a small village and I don’t know if they will know what to include in a Police Clearance Certificate for K1 visa. Should the certificate only be a general statement that there have been no arrests etc.? Is there any sample form my fiancé could show to them? I’ve read the Packet 3 & 4 and have learnt SO much from this great website! Police certificates are the only thing I haven’t been able to find a standardized form yet. Thanks!

Hey, I saw your tracking number and it shows that it has been delivered today. same thing as mines. tell me when you are calling your USEM ha. thanks.

Yes, I saw that too, about it being delivered. The only thing I'm not sure about is whether those are really our cases.
If you scroll back, you'll see that Todd mentioned that I looked for the wrong shipping reference "EXP 12 MAR 2009A" - should look for 13 MAR instead, and it will go out in today (Monday Mar 16) DHL pickup. I'm not sure about that, since in past posts on VJ about DHL, I've seen the instructions to enter the PREVIOUS day reference to the day we were told it was released. That's what I did.
Anyway, either it's there at the embassy, or it will be very shortly.
I wasn't planning to call the embassy. I was just going to wait till my fiancee tells me that she gets Packet3 from them.
I've already sent her everything - I134, tax returns, etc. And she' s already done the medical, police, single status long ago (back in Jan when we got our NOA2).
So I hope we can turn around the Packet3 very quickly, and get our interview scheduled.

Good luck Lucky, and good luck everybody!
All the newcomers, welcome and don't lose faith. All the oldtimers, please keep posting about your progress.

Ron, I hope you are right about the dates. That would mean my case got to HCM last Monday instead of today and I am 1 week further into this than I thought. That would be a change in this process!!!!!

And you can really get an interview in 4-6 weeks in Thailand? I am praying that we get an interview date in May! Mail delays may play a part of the wait, I think... mad.gif

I was released from NVC on Feb 26, 2009 and hope to have interview date in May also. Hope that we can meet and share a cheerful coffee in HCM

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAnother "Touched" question
Hi there,

I just have a quick question related to this "touch" that I keep reading. Is this during the process of waiting for the approval from the NVC or is this after the interview? The reason I'm asking is my husband had his interview and he was given the paper with the "other" checked on it. I have sent an e-mail to the Consulate requesting some information/status to no avail.

helpsmilie.gif Does anyone have a time frame on how long it takes for the Moroccan Consulate to review the documents and I assume this is done at the Consulate and the papers not sent back to the US.

Thanks again for your help!

Everyone has been very helpful in this process!! good.gif

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWe reget to inform you - the letter!
I was able to find out a little bit more information on my situation. My husband told me that at first, there was a green paper that was "attached" to his passport. Once the lady asked her questions about the length of time we've known each other and how many times I've been there she took the green paper from the passport, gave him his passport and gave him that ugly white paper that I mentioned in my first post. The (other - we need to review the documents you submitted during your interveiw) one.

I've been reading the board like crazy and although I already knew the answer, I wanted to confirm that they would not be sending his papers back to the U.S. but the consulate would be doing this in-house. I think that's a good thing.

If anyone has been through this before, can you please give an estimate on how long this "might" take.

I love reading these posts but I think that sometimes, I'm driving myself crazy. This has become quite an obsession me. I (like so many others) just want my husband here. (heavy sigh)

Thanks in advance for any additional input on this matter

I took your advice and faxed a the proper documents to the Senator's office yesterday. I called to confirm the fax and was told they would get back to me in 2 weeks (as soon as they assign my case to the correct case manager) I also wrote a letter to the Consulate, not that I'm expecting anything in return from them but I figure every little bit helps. Thanks again for your suggestion!

IMHO, sounds like something in his background or someone similar has come up negative or needs further investigation. It doesn't look like it had to do with relationship matters

good luck good.gif

Hi there!

Thanks for you kind words! I honestly know that it has nothing to do with his background. He's never been married, in trouble with the law or had any other trouble. I'm afriad it has to do with the short amount of time from when we were introduced by his brother until we were married. I have only been able to go to Morocco the one time for 10 days. On the 9th day, we were married! After the lady had those dates, the interview was over. It's so crazy but I know we will make it through this, just need to know if I should do anything because (I forgot this part in the original post) The i-129F Approval is due to expire 5/14/08 YIPES!!

Hi all,

I hope I'm doing this right. I'm a newbie (actually a sad newbie crying.gif ) Today my husband had his interview in Casablanca. After 5 hours he was given the proverbial "kiss of death" as he was handed his passport. The letter reads as follows:

"This office regrets to inform you that it is unable to issue a visa to you because you have been found ineligible to receie a visa under the following section(s) of the Immigration and Natinality Act. The information contained in the paragraphs marked with "X" pertain to your visa application. Please disregard the unmarked paragraphs."

The section that was checked was - "OTHER: We need to review the documents you presented during your interview. We will contact you when we hare finished with our review."

Now, I can understand needing to check the information but my husband told me that this woman would not even look at a single piece of paper that was presented to her. In the paperwork my husband included emails from me, my mom and my daughter, emails, cell phone bills, skype logs everything. Before he left, he was told this could take MONTHS! blink.gif

Has anyone else come across this problem? If so, how long did it take for them to get back to you? Was it really "months"?

This waiting is really beginning to suck! The frustration level is reaching an all time high! LOL We just want him home!

Any comments, advice or help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Wow, this is too bad. After having to go through the long wait for the CSC to be told this at the interview is heartbreaking. I can only think, especially with the fact that they did not really look at the documents, that the additional review is more of a requirement in North Africa or the Middle East, and not just to single out your fiance specifically. I remember reading something similar about someone from Egypt who had to wait for further review after the interview. As discouraging and frustrating as this must be, you've already proven your committment to each other by making it this far - that strength is enough to carry you the rest of the way until he is home with you finally. God Bless.

You may be right!! I hope you are. If not, I'm sure everything that has been submitted will be proof enough! Thank you for your reply!!

I'm afriad your right! I just don't know what to expect at this point and that really puts a strain of the emotional rollercoaster. The Consulate was pretty quick in getting him in after the initial "white paper" saying Other & that they needed to review the documents that were submitted during the interview. They had him back in 2 weeks. I'm just really at a loss as to what to think at this point.

Sorry to be such a bummer in all the posts I do. I hope we have some good news soon!

I have an update (and the whole story) from my husband. I wasn't too clear on what had happened today but now I have it.

He went to the appointment, the woman asked more questions and at the end said everything looked really good and handed him his Passport and green paper and told him to come back on Friday to get his Visa. As he is walking out, he is stopped and told to go back to the lady. The woman says she is "sorry" but she can not give him the visa because something about sending papers to Washington. He was again, given a white paper with the check mark which reads: Other - Your case requires further administrative processing. We will contact you when that process is finished. The lady tells him that they will contact him in 1 week!!

Can anyone translate this Casa Consulate Code? All signs pointed to YEAH good.gif but now I'm afriad it may be a NAH! crying.gif

I think all signs point to a poorly trained Consular Officer. As such I wouldn't take the one week prediction seriously either.

I know this has probably been covered before but I'm so lost right now I'm in a panic. My husband was called on Monday to bring papers from the beginning of our relationship (which I thougt had been forwarded to the Consulate) He returned to the Consulate today with more documents of our relationship. He spoke to a nice woman that asked me about me, my daughter and the rest of my family. The woman said everything looked great and that he was (dont get excited) approved would return on Friday to pick up his Visa. Then on his way out, they handed him his passport and was told that the papers would be going back to the U.S.???

I am under the impression that if they are sending the papers back that the visa is a "no go" But then why did this woman tell him to come back on Friday to get his Visa?

This makes no sense to me. Can someone PLEASE shead some light on this for me.

Should I be happy or bummed?

Thanks

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNewbie with an attitude
Hi everyone!

I'm pretty new to all of this, I've posted a few questions and replied to a few. I come here quite a bit just to check things out while I (like most of you) wait for the rollercoaster ride (aka AP) to finally come to an end.

I'm afraid to get too excited about what's going on but I really really think my husband and I are nearing the end of this journey. Just to recap (and kind of vent) We were married in Casablanca April 6, 2007. Filed I130 & I129 (per lawyers suggestion), they got approved, finally over a year later comes the 1st interview (April 15th) he's given a white paper that says they need to look over what was submitted during the interview. Hummm, ok

He's called April 28th to come in with more proof (from the beginning of our relationship to be exact). I fax over 200 pages to him so he has them ready (I though the lawyer would have forwarded this headbonk.gif ) Anyway, April 30th my husband goes to his 2nd interview. This part sucks (did I mention rollercoaster) The woman says "Everything looks great, you've been approved. Come back on Friday to pick up your visa!" As you can imagine he's VERY HAPPY biggrin.gif BUT (and believe me this is a BIG BUT! --pun intended whistling.gif ) As my husband is walking out he is stopped by the security guard and told to return to the lady. Ummm, ok. He returns and she says "sorry, I can't issue you the visa today" Takes the green paper, hands him back his visa and she proceeds to tell him "your case requires AP in USA, we will call you in 1 or 2 weeks" mad.gif Can you say "BUZZ KILL"?

So, I speak to a very ticked off and hurt Moroccan man who is having a well deserved hissy fit. I get what I can out of his venting and send an email to the consulate that day (still April 30th). I was carefull not to sound as unhappy as I was but I put together a very nice letter explaing what happened and requesting a "non-generic" answer.

Well, on Friday May 9th to my shock and amazement, I received an email from the Consulate ohmy.gif and it's a "non-generic" reply (DOUBLE ohmy.gif ohmy.gif )

Here comes that rollercoaster again -- The letter reads that they were sorry about the confusion and that "your husbands case required additional AP WHICH HAS NOW BEEN COMPLETED. We will contact him via telephone in a short amount of time regarding his application."

I don't know weather or not to be up, down, happy, sad or what?!?!? All I know is that I'm sleeping with my cell phone in the event that he gets that call from the Consulate saying those magic words we want to hear. I think it's a good sign and I hope we get the call soon. (ENTERING TMI ZONE: I'm sorry but I would like to trade up and sleep with my husband rather then that cell phone innocent.gif )

Anyway, if anyone reads this (and has kept reading it till here blush.gif ) I wish you the very best of luck and hope you have your wishes come true very soon!!

oh, and thanks for the venting session! blink.gif

Hi all, finally my husband has his interview in Casablanca on June 4th. I emailed Casa Consulate 3 times for info and they sent me email today( 13 days after I emailed them )....they said his packet was mailed May 9th from Casa Consulate to Meknes, will see how long that takes. I found out that the 2 petitions I mailed the I 130 and I 129 were both received at NVC and THEY chose which one for him to go on, this is why I do not have Visa and AOS money to pay them cause they chose this route, and only the $131 visa processing fee, when husband (if all goes good) comes here to Michigan then more paperwork and money but first we are working on him getting here and answering who knows what questions then we will inquire if we have to pay the adjustment of status ($1,010) or something like that, but main thing now is I am nervous ,he is nervous that this moment has come an INTERVIEW DATE at 8am June 4th I cannot believe it, he is on his way to Casablanca to their doctors on Monday to get this medical hurried up and done! I am so excited , will let you know more later!! Thanks visa journal people for helping me on this journey!!! Diana

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionTHANKS GOD!!! WE GOT APPROVED...

Thank God we got approved yesterday. It was a smooth-sailing interview. We were interviewed by an Afro American Consul. He seems to be an old-timer. After the interview, we requested our visa to be picked-up instead of courier service. He was very nice to grant our request. We're bound to fly to SF in 2 weeks from today.

We really appreciate all the help extended to us by a lot of the VJ members. Those who had contributed some very useful information and specially to those who had prayed for our successful interview. VJ is a must for any long distance relationships dealing with FIANCEE K1 Visas. They even extend after-marriage support to successful couples and had cared so much for the success of their FIANCEE's feat with the US Embassies. It was such a pleasure and honor to join this site. We'd also like to thank Steve and Anna for all their help and prayers. Thanks so much and good luck to all forthcoming interviews to all members. We will keep in touch.

We're asking PW's favors to please update our timeline to Feb 2 interview as approved.

Sincerely,

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionName of person on a Hotel Reciept investigation

I haven't heard that before. It's very common in the Philippines for a person's name, such as a cashier, to appear on a receipt. I'd have to look at my receipts from Apo View, Mandaya and Waterfront to see if similar to Marco Polo. Still you would think they've seen that before. I hope this doesn't cause you much delay.

HI Roy and Yaz,

I didn't notice that the person's name was included in the receipt underneath my name! But I can see how that would confuse or raise an eyebrow when the consular view the receipt.

Please let me know if this is the case with your receipts from Apo View, Mandaya and Waterfront.

BTW, great pictures. I sure miss Davao right now!

Thanks,
Eddie

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionName of person on a Hotel Reciept investigation
Hello VJ's!

Well now I found out that there might be a sight delay with her visa because the interviewing consular wanted to check a hotel receipt I submitted for evidence when I visited her with in the past two years. They wanted me to send them an explanation of the girl name on the receipt. So I sent the US Embassy an email, FAX and also had the Marco Polo Hotel fax them the explanation.

The hotel (Marco Polo Hotel in Davao City) printed the name of the girl who took my reservation right underneath my name. Looks like this:

Eddie blah blah
Name of Girl who took my reservation
My address

I can see that this would look like this girl is with me by the way they printed out the hotel receipt. But that's how they printed out the hotel receipt!

Have you heard of any cases where they had to investigate a name on a hotel receipt?
And do you have any idea how long the US Consulate will take to investigate this?

Thanks,
Eddie

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-485 Family Name change (she now has your surname)
Hello VJ's,

I've got a question about the I-485.

Here the scenario:
  • Fiancee enters USA
  • Applies for SSN
  • Get married (What if your fiancee takes your surname?)
  • File I-485
  • In Part 1 of the I-485 (Family Name) Do you use the original surname or do you use the fiance surname?
Thanks,
Eddie

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionRecipt of Visa from Delbros

as I rememember Yazi describing it, the brown envelope is covered by a clear plastic envelope. it's ok to remove the plastic covering the brown envelope to get the passport and visa. DO NOT open the brown envelope itself. someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Do not open the brown envelope that contain the documents for POE (now that make sense to me) and remove her passport to confirm the correct information on her visa.

Any information would be helpful :)

Best Regards,
Eddie

that's it. ok to open the plastic delivery envelope so you can get the passport with visa.

Hi Roy and Yazi,

That makes more sense to me. So the package that Delbros deliveries should contain the following:

Brown envelope (contains documents for POE) DO NOT OPEN

and

Passport with visa

Also the delivered package is made out of clear plastic?

Eddie

Hi Roy and Yazi,

That is exactly where I am confused! The Delbros courier told Aia's mom who signed for the package that she is not to open the package.

Here the scenario:

Do not open the package (the package that contains the brown envelope with the documents for POE and her passport and visa). If she doesn't open the package then she will not have access to her passport.

or

Do not open the brown envelope that contain the documents for POE (now that make sense to me) and remove her passport to confirm the correct information on her visa.

Any information would be helpful :)

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionRecipt of Visa from Delbros

Hi VJ's,

Does anyone have information when they received the visa from Delbros.

My fiancee received instruction not to open the package when they delivered the visa? Is this correct?

When was she able to open the package?

Will the package be open during the CFO class?

How did she confirm that the information on the visa is correct?

Please let me know,

Best Regards,
Eddie

Hi Eddie,

Tell your fiancee...

DON'T OPEN THE PACKAGE...PERIOD! It's a sealed envelope that immigration takes at her POE. CFO has nothing to do with it. This is explained during the interview process at the embassy.

Depends on which package you are referring to.

Package #1 (The delivery package) contains your fiancee's passport (with visa attached) and the mystery package #2 (that will be given to the POE upon arrival)

DO NOT OPEN PACKAGE #2!!!!

US Embassy (Manila)

How do you distinguish between the two packages? The package she received from Delbros courier says not to open the package.

Will she receive another package with her passport and visa?

Thanks,
Eddie

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Procedureserror on Case I130!
hi all and heres my problem:

i hired a lawyer back in 12/04 to handle my case. i rec'd the NOA letter on 6/1/05. there was a error. the Case I130 SECTION reads: "Sister of Brother of US Citizen". and its taking 900 days for this type of case to be processed. but thats not even close. this is for wife not my brother or sister.

notified lawyer about the mistakes and he told me everything is fine, saying it takes at least a yr for this type of case to be processed. so i went along with the flow and waited 9 months later, nothing happening, didnt rec'd anything in the mail whatsover.

so i was soo mad and took things into my own hands and contacted the service rep a couple of time last month, also fax and mail a letter to the INS immigration center. but everytime i call them, they would not have any updated info on their system. was reallly frustrated.

but i finally today i got a letter from the INS confirming that they re'd my request last month. but they didnt mentioned that the correction was made or not. they simply stated, "you should rec'd a decision or NOA withing the next 60 days.

so, my questions is, should i pay the customer service center a visit person, which i already have or just sit and wait 60 days more.

BTW: my so-called lawyer is doing a very terrible terrible job and i already pay the guy in full. yes, i am really gullible and stupid.

appreciate if anyone has any similiar problems or any advice.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMinimum Income Req.
if they require one yr, then no worries. i have my wife give them a call though. as for a co-sponsor, none of my family or best friend would do it, (that really sucks) because they dont trust me or doesnt appreciate me marrying someone outside of US. my boss however, said she may co-sign for me. i really really hope she does..

yes, i have read some of the threads in the Asian section. alot of reads but nothing on income. good reads though....thanks for the links..
