Oops! It sent without me sending the whole message! blink.gif

Beta: That is so exciting! You calling the embassy gave me the idea to e-mail the Sydney embassy and see if there is any progress (we had requested the opening of a provisional file so we could send our information right away so they could give us an interview date.)

RobertJay: Good luck to Oksana on her interview! Can you believe you are so close to starting a new life together? I'm so happy to see us April filers on the fast track!

JeffCloe!: a huge good.gif to you! I can't wait to see your approval e-mail!!!!!

So last Monday, I did it: I bit the bullet and bought a wedding dress. I am praying that December 7 is the day, but until we know an interview date we still have to wait. Here is a little picture of it:
.
It was perfect the minute I saw it on the website, and when I tried it on I knew it was the one for me! Now I just can't wait to walk down the aisle in it!

Wow I can't believe I only found this thread now. Anyways, I just wanted to say hi... My sweety and I filled on April 14th and got the NOA2 last week. Funny thing is that I had gotten used to the wait and wasnt feeling so anxious anymore, and now with the NOA2 I know it's getting closer and I'm getting all hyper/excited/nervous all over again. biggrin.gif

I completely agree with you! Day and night I checked on the NOA2 (check former posts from me ha ha!), and now that it is here, we are just zooming by: His medical is THIS WEEK, his papers are already forwarded by the embassy, we plan on being married December 7, 90 days from today...

Then I think, omg 90 days! What am I going to wear? Will I be a good wife? Will I like my new last name? What if I start snoring after we get married? blink.gif

I am finishing up the packet tonight so he can have everything we need by hopefully next week. I can't believe the time is finally almost here...

Angel0482, different forms/evidence are needed for different embassies. If you go to the "Embassy Info" link at the top of the screen ^^, you can click on your country and it will give you a link to the consulate website and hopefullly info from other VJ readers about what info is necessary. Hope this helps! good.gif

Congratulations Angel0482!!!

I am holding my breath for all the April filers...I am thinking that the adjucators got a nice four-day holiday with Labor Day, and they will be energized and ready to crank out the approvals on Tuesday. Am I right?!?! dancin5hr.gif

I am getting all of the papers situated for the NOA2, and just like before with the NOA1, I am stressing out!!! What if I miss this form? What if that evidence isn't good enough? What if his interview is months away?

Ack! Can't wait for the stress to be over! (Then comes the stress of married life ha ha)

I remember when I was in Australia is when that giant wave of April approvals and touches just started coming in. I knew we were next!!!

...then nothing. It broke my heart (read earlier posts lol, I was bummed out!)

If you read a lot of our stories it really does come when least expected. Glo got her hard copy a week after it was actually approved, and that's how she found out because it didn't show up on the website for some reason. Keep your head up, we are all here waiting with you! heart.gif

Guys---

WE GOT APPROVED!!!!!! kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif

I told myself after I checked my regular mail that I wouldn't check the USCIS website until after 5pm, when the office closed for the day. I lasted until 4:30 ha ha!

Application Type: I129F , PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)

Current Status: Approval notice sent.

On August 27, 2008, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service.

When I clicked on the reciept number and saw that we were approved, I seriously screamed (and then realized that with my stomach flu, screaming really hurt my tummy!) I called and left a message for my fiance, and I started to sob! Glo, now I know how you felt! It's like this big wave of stress is gone (for now)!

Jeffcloe, you are next! I FEEL IT!!!!

Let's keep on updating this thread with news! I want to know how the next leg goes on everyone's journey!!

My fiance called few days ago and they said that they will not process any papers this week because it's the "DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION" whatsoever that is. Then they said that they're releasing April 14-18. Argghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....

That doesn't make sense... Why would a government agency be affected by a party event? The Democratic Convention has nothing to do with USCIS--it's run and controlled by the Democratic Party, not the U.S. government. Labor Day is a real "stopper" event, but I can't imagine them taking time off for a party event in DENVER. Hopefully this is another example of misinformation!!!

I was thinking the same things...the ONLY thing I could possibly think would be that since it's a gov't agency, they have to a)volunteer for gov't sponsored events like the DNC, or cool.gif maybe they have a booth or event at the DNC, and with a handful of people out of the USCIS office, they have to prioritize what cases get worked on.

Ugh, I want to know the inner workings of that place! I mean, I know that a K-1 (I-129) is one visa out of what? 50 classes? So even this four month gap is bearable. I see people trying to bring their family into America on the processing timelines and they are working on cases from 2001!!!We have to *try* and keep things in perspective ha ha!

On a side note, have a really bad flu bug-doctor thinks I may have picked something up overseas. Have a fever of 103, can't keep anything down, live on Gatorade! Which means I'm home and close to the computer-so when I feel up to it I'm obsessively checking the USCIS website like always!!!

I'm happy to give my fellow April filers some insight.....there must be at least one adjucator working on cases because I GOT TOUCHED TODAY!!! kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif So excited! Was able to call my fiance 5 minutes before he headed off to work to tell him the good news, and I just started to cry! (It's probably a mixture of *something* happening with our case, and having no energy whatsoever due to my stomach flu!)

Hi everybody!

Got home from Australia last week crying.gif missing my fiance already, but he keeps telling me this is the end of the road before we are together again good.gif

This standstill at CSC is killing me! Every day, I think, "today is IT. I am going to get my mail and it's going to be there!" and it's not. I think I am spoiled because I really didn't think we would be approved until the first week of October, and now that some April filers are being approved now, I'm going, "alright! It's my turn!". UGH. I'm going to start hoping for October 1 again!!! star_smile.gif

That's great!! Congrats!

You didn't state if you recieved your NOA1 before you recieved the letter from the NVC. Did you? And if so, did you recieve an e-mail or any updates on the website about your case? All us impatient April filers want to know!!! biggrin.gif

I posted this in the thread about the "slowdown" at CSC and VSC

I just talked to am USCIS representative on the phone. I called because I received an email saying this:

"Type of service requested:
-- Non-Delivery of Other Notice

The status of this service request is:

Unable to access the file.
The case is currently with an officer."

I had no idea what that meant since I received an email on 08/06/08 saying this:

"On May 7, 2008, the post office returned your document I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E) as undeliverable. We will hold it for 180 days from May 7, 2008 to allow you time to contact us. If you do not contact us at 1-800-375-5283 within 180 days, this document will be destroyed and you will need to file a new application or application for replacement with fee."

Was my file missing? Just what the !!!!!! was going on.

So I called.

It took 30 minutes to finally get a human being. They asked me my case number, then asked if I had received my notice of approval. I said no, I got this other email instead. And she said that we were approved 08/12/08 and that our case was at the NVC. (YAAYYYYY!!!!!!)

She then explained that there had been a computer glitch in which the approval notices had neither been mailed nor emailed.

So I do not know what to tell you all. Hopefully you are approved, and just do not know yet. I pray this is the case for you.

I also know that the system seems to be majorly jacked right now.

I want to reiterate that in a couple of instances, the woman I spoke to said there had been a computer glitch, and that approvals had not been mailed. She also said that the system was still down, but when it came back up, she would put in a request to resend our Notice of Approval. I have no idea what is going on at USCIS, but I get the sense that there has been some kind of major computer problem.

I don't know what advice to give, but I think it possible people have been approved and have not been notified. I think if I had not called, I would not yet know the status of our case. I know I intend to call NVC next week to make sure our case is there (the woman on the phone gave me the standard, it can take up to two weeks to get to NVC and another week to be entered into the system.....)

Maybe someone else can call and get more information on this "glitch" the woman referenced. It would be nice to get some sort of read on the scope of the problem.

Good luck to you all! I hope the approvals start to roll once again.

I am so happy to hear about your approval!!!! I hate to get my hopes up, but I still pray our approval is right around the corner as well!!! Again, congrats!!! good.gif good.gif

At least the NVC is doing it's job lol!

I posted in the "CSC slowdown thread", and I completely understand that us VJ'ers are a small percentage of appliers, but it is so uplifting to see people getting approved...it is going on SIX DAYS since we've seen any movement in the community, and it's so hard to take. When I left my fiance to come back home, he (being the strong one) tells me, "This is our last leg. After this trip I will be with you, and it will be for good!". (I love him! wub.gif). That would make me feel about 1,000 times better if we had some sort of movement!!! (I'm the impatient one in the relationship lol!)

Can I say what I am feeling right at this very moment? Igor's list today had my head spinning around and could not see any light in this very dark long tunnel in the wilderness... and left me with just one question in mind, when ohh when will we ever get our approval, upon seeing a May 12 filer got approved I am super speechless... I don't know what else to say... yaaayyy but yes it made me so sad... I want to cry but I am leaving this all up to our good Lord...

Cloe sad.gif

Hi Cloe and April family! star_smile.gif

I didn't see a May filer either, I am still stuck at 90-been there for at least three days!!!

I am back in America now, without my fiance, waiting for some movement at the CSC. It seems like since the beginning of August, CSC has slowed to a bloody halt mad.gif

Cloe, no change since your touch? I know you will be one of our next ones, we just need those suckas at the CSC to get off their butts! I'll be waiting for an approval notice from you! Good luck to everyone else (including myself ha ha!) good.gif

I've actually moved backwards on Igor's list, from 59th to 60th. Obviously another March/April filer just updated their time line for the first time, but all of this obsessive checking of emails, mail boxes and USCIS status pages has me questioning my sanity. I think I might actually be moving towards borderline Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I'm going to stop this OCD behavior and schedule a flight back to Cambodia where I can wait in the company of my loved ones. Being separated from my family at the whims of some lazy government hacks is something I'm no longer willing to endure.

I can work remotely, and with Fedex at my disposal, do I even need to be present in California to finish this process? I'm keeping my house in San Francisco and I can have a relative forward any mail that comes. At least I can be with my wife and son when we finally fly to SFO.

I asked myself the same question about a month ago-just live with Jimmy in Australia on a 3-month Visa until there is some sign of approval. My only roadblock on that was when it would be time to do the "Affadavit of Support", I would be out of a job, which also meant no supporting docs to show I have income in America (my assets are decent, but wouldn't be up to par with the guideline)

I'm not the expert, but I think you should be okay if you took an extended "holiday" over there-once the NOA2 arrives, it's more in your fiance's court now to do the paperwork and what not so I don't think it's a necessity to stay in CA. I see a lot of posts where the fiance was present for the interview and such, so why wouldn't you be able to if you know you can still work, assets, etc...good luck! I am in the same OCD boat as you, believe me wacko.gif

Hey all!

I'm still in Australia for *Four More Days* and every day I am checking the forums and my e-mail. It's so awesome to see most of us have gotten our approvals! When I see I haven't been touched since May my heart breaks. But I also know all of us April filings were probably thinking they wouldn't get approved until late August or September, so I know if I have to wait, I'll have to wait. I think I'm just being really impatient and hoping that the approval will come through before I have to leave so I can celebrate it with my fiance before I leave.

Jeffcloe, any news after that last touch?

Hi everyone!

I am in sunny Australia, FINALLY with my fiance! So happy! biggrin.gif

Glo, it's driving me mad that since I'm out of the country, I can't check my snail mail every day for the NOA2. I know that, with your case, it STILL shows as pending!!! I was wondering, have you tried calling for your case status on the 800-number they give you and if so, is it still pending there as well? I figured if they updated that it would be my best shot at checking to see if we were approved or not while I am away......

Let's hold strong guys, it's just around the corner when they will all be with us in America and our lives can be taken off pause good.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsApril 08 CSC filers
Hey all! good.gif

I too have been looking for the April CSC thread...glad someone finally made one hee hee!

My timeline looks about the same...end of April...it already seems like it was SO LONG AGO that we filed, but, sigh, we have to wait longer. I am really really *crosses fingers* hoping I get to spend Christmas 2008 with my fiance here for good, but I know until the Visa is in hand nothing is certain...

On the bright side, it looks like for a while there CSC was picking up the pace and moving the approval date up about two weeks or so. Let's hope they continue!

Good luck to everyone, and keep in touch with progress!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs document prep assistance worthwhile?
Hi everybody! I'd like to say that it's so uplifting to see all of these success stories-it makes us know that the wait for our future is worth fighting for! good.gif

I have all of the documents saved to my computer, and plan on filing AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, but I am wondering if it helps in any way to get assistance from someone who specializes in Immigrant document preparation, like we have seen advertised on the Internet.

Our biggest fear is missing one small step and getting denied and having to start all over again. The wait is hard enough as it is!

Like I said, we are in the very beginning of this long journey. Any advice is helpful. Thanks so much!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBirth Certificate for K-1 filing
Hi all!

So we are getting the paperwork situated for the K-1, my fiancé is sending over his papers and should be squared away by next week hopefully-sorry if the forum gets flooded with questions this week by me! blink.gif

I have searched the forums, and don't have a solid answer as to whether or not I can send just a regular copy or if I need a certified copy of my birth certificate when sending the K-1 paperwork.

Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresConsulate Interview...
Hi all...again smile.gif

I'm planning a trip to visit my fiancé in August, but I was thinking about him having to fly down to Sydney near Fall 2008 to do his consulate interview...I have searched the forums and read the guides, and I haven't seen any info on whether or not I have to also be present at his interview, or if it is a solo thing?

Thanks again!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresStaying with overseas fiance
Thanks again for all of your advice and support good.gif

After *again* talking it over with my fiance and reading the fine print on the Support information, I guess the only choice we have is to stick it out seperately. Ack! If only there was a way!!

I will be visiting in 7 weeks, but after that it's between visiting him a few more times or having a nicely planned wedding/new house/new furniture etc...as much as I would like to "throw caution to the wind", having a couch in the long run is probably a better bet ha ha.

I thank goodness for these forums. It really does make you feel like you are not the only one going through this!!

Your paystubs and income documentation from 'now' would not be a true picture of your financial situation in October or November if you are unemployed.

It might seem like a 'white lie' to you but I'd urge you not to start misrepresenting information to USCIS/DOS. Such behavior can be fatal to immigration.

If you decide to quit your job and spend that time in Australia, I'd plan on getting a co-sponsor as being unemployed, you will not qualify. I hope you have a plan for how the two of you will support yourselves when you return without a job and he waits months for work authorization.

Thanks for all of the advice/input. I wish it wasn't so negative!! Although I do appreciate the honesty and information, hence why I asked about if it was doable in the first place.

I know that everyone applying for their fiances is more or less in the same position as I am, and seeing the timelines, I have seen that more than a handful of people have succeeded in being with their fiance overseas while waiting for the K-1 Visa to be approved.

Gallow, I completely understand the logistics of going to Australia and having to come back to the states with a gap in income. I definately wouldn't think about traveling without being adequately comfortable in my financial state. As for having a fall back plan, unfortunately we will have to cross that bridge when we get to it-our I-129 was pretty cut and dry, but we are talking about the government, anything is possible blink.gif

Maybe what I wrote wasn't clear, or it looked like I was trying to "misrepresent" the facts to the USCIS. I know how damaging that would be to my case and the future! I was honestly just wondering if there was a way to spend time with my fiance while the process goes through. Is that too much to ask? sad.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresStaying with overseas fiance
Hi all!

So....I am thinking about taking a tourist visa and staying with my fiance in Australia until the time he is approved. On my end, this seems like a nice way to be with my fiance until he comes to America with me permanently good.gif

Now, what I am wondering is: Can this be done? I would keep my finances/mailing address/assets in the US while I was "traveling" over there, but I would more than likely give notice at my job since it will be 3+ months I will be in Australia.

What I am most worried about is the Affadavit of Support. Aside from the fact that it is so confusing and, from what I have read, doesn't show you the actual dollar amount for income requirements, what can be done about not having a job at the time of my fiance's packet being sent? Could my last paycheck stubs (from right before I left for Australia in July) work for an interview in say, October/November?

I always appreciate the help/advice of my fellow VJ'ers!
