I have another strange question... What happens to your luggage?? If we remember correctly at JFK you go thru the immigration desk and then get your baggage and go thru customs. Is that process any different when coming thru as an immigrant? We were under the impression that Crash and our son will be brought to another room and questioned and thats when he hands over the MBE (mysterious brown envelope). So what happens then?

Thanks as always...

Cari

When i arrived on my K3, I was told to go to secondary, but to collect my luggage first then to go to secondary!!

Can anyone share their POE stories? I'm wondering how long I should expect to wait for Ewen; I'm not going to show up early if it's going to take him 2 hours to get through immigration, LOL.

My POE was philly.....it took about 30/40 minutes in secondary, but they seemed pretty busy that day!!

Alison, from all the accounts I've read, its NOT necessary to lug the xrays through with you at POE.

This is true..................I put mine in my hand luggage to be safe incase i was asked for em, but never was!!, as they are POE officers not doctors so looking at them will mean nothing to them!!....the doctor already looked and put his findings in your medical results !!

I Know this has been asked before BUT cant find it :P ...........can anyone recomend a cheap not nasty hotel close to the Embassy please??

Well, we liked this one, even though another member here recently ruled it out because they thought it looked nasty. It is your typical european hotel (ie small narrow rooms) - we found it to be clean though older and LOVED the location - quiet Hyde Park. We did have a shower in our room that was recently renovated as well and were not charged extra for it. I think you if you phone them you will get a much better rate than listed on the web. We paid 75 in september, ensuite double.

www.parkwoodhotel.com

Unfortunately at the moment I post this their site seems to be down. Maybe it will be working when you read this.

Thank you Becca, i will take a look at that 1, i cant imagine it would be nasty,it might look OLD after all this is LONDON!!, you stayed there thats good enough for me!!

For educational purposes, I thought some of you might like wander over to the AOS forum to read our account of our recent interview.

I've also posted a thread there about what happened with our vaccine supplement.

Here's also where I get to say to all of you - many thanks - and - I can't wait for all of you to feel this huge relief - this monumental weight - lifted from your shoulders. I am actually physically drained today - there REALLY REALLY is that much pressure on all of us, and I think we bear it rather well.

Of course, there are two reasons for that. We have each other here on VJ to help with the journey. And most of all we have our true love walking beside us as we travel this slippery slope.

Much love to you all, my partners in immigration..... :) (F)

Congratulations on the approval wes & becca :luv:  ..............ya better keep the 90days to 2nd anniversary marked on ya calender :P

euro, I can't wait until I can work too - and drive. Do you have your license? I will have to retake a test to get a permanent Virginia license... :crying:

Has your SSN arrived?

In the meantime, I have kept myself busy setting up the house. I sent over a huge container of things - 112 cartons in all! The house is quite big too - 2200 square feet, but I have it all filled up now and it is starting to look real pretty, just like a home! I just wish the summer would hurry up too, it's cold up here in the mountains

Hiya Kiki

I have dealt with those GPS things and to be honest, I think they confuse me more than anything. They tell you to make about 5 right turns just to get off an exit ramp on a highway...but they are good for the major roads. Is there anywhere you can walk to, like local shops, until you get your bearings?

We got a 'Garmin' GPS and we love it!!! In our business we travel all over the US so we are always in a new Town, and it's awesome! We can find places and stores quickly and get around just like a local.

Jen

Thats good to know, maybe i will beable to find my way around when mine arrives :P

National Visa Center (Dept of State)DS-230 part 1

Today the DS-230 part 1 came in the mail, i have no idea what address i should put on it as i am in the US on a K3 visa!!.......anyway i called the NVC to ask, no available operater  .............so i used the automated line....the robot lady :P said............missing or incomplete & a checklist has been mailed, it should be sent back to portsmouth, NH, sooooooo i'm confused, does this mean we did the I-864 wrong???
Thanks in advance
Amanda (confused & very very bored in Michigan :P )

Hi Amanda! Nice to see you made it over here!

Sounds to me as if the "voice" is just protesting the lack of DS230 in your file. I think what you might do is include a coverletter when you send in the DS230. Put your UK address on the form (if it still exists for receiving mail) and state in the letter that you are in US on a K3 and intending to return to UK for interviewing. I'm not sure what the London consulate does, but Madrid sent a copy of all the interview stuff to Butch here too, anyway.

Yeah they send another DS-230 they passed like ships in the night :P also they wanted a letter from his employer for the I-864 anyway its all been sorted out now  .now all i have to do is sit back & wait some more  for case complete  ........bring on summer......nice to hear from you Jill :luv:

I started my case last jan, but we took a ¨break¨ (thought I would rather live in mexico than wait, I was desperate!) but now we are starting where we left off. National Visa Center (Dept of State)Labels-Forms

I was just woundering if it might be ok with the National Visa Center or if anyone has done it before. But What Im trying to ask is when you mail forms and everything to them they want your case number on the upper right hand corner of everything. There is some things I dont want to write my case number on them cause I will use them later once we get them back (and I dont want every other place we use them at after this to see my immigration number or anything). So I was woundering would it be ok if I made some labels on my computer and just put them on instead?

Anything you send to NVC they will keep, you wont get anything back!!.............so send copies!!

National Visa Center (Dept of State)NVC automated system

Well we have finally received the approval and now need to find out the case number at NVC

I am in the Uk and when using the automated system it gets tothe point where it asks for either the CIS or NVc number -to input the 10 numbers following the letters (if using the cIS number) and follow with the £ sign which is under the number 9 on the touch pad ;)

Well not on my phone!! there is no £ sign and if I do not put anything in -they just say not traceable or something similar.

Question really is can we find out our number from this side of the pond or is it only my daughter who can access the system???

Val,
I called NVC from England a few times, had no problems !! #<<<<<<tis the pound sign :yes:but cant remember what the # sign was from my UK phone
but ya can do it!! just try all buttons...

Hi

I-130 is NOT K3!!..........I-130 leads to CR1/IR1...................I-129F leads to K3 (if married already)
I dont think you can now file K3 as your completed I-130 is at the Embassy/Consulate!!

Can somebody tell me the number sequence to press to speak to an operator when calling the department of state...

Ive tried searching but am unable to find it

Thanks in advance

press 1, 1, 0 or that is what it used to be.

Department of State is DOS

DOS
202 663 1225
Press options 1,0,4,3,0

Use these options to talk to a live operator.

I used options 1, 0, 0 after calling 202-663-1225 and I was able to speak with an operator live.

I used the 202-663-1225 number too.....then as soon as its answered you press 1-1-0

USCIS Service Centerswhat is up with Nebraska service center?

This is my first time posting on this forum, and I have a worry about the Nebraska service center. We sent in our petition (I130) in August 2005 and NOA1 was sent soon after, but we have been waiting for NOA2 for a while now and have recieved nothing.
I have been checking updates from thier sites, but it seems the part which says American citizens inviting sposes has been completely taken out for a while now.
Does anyone know what is happening, or is anyone in the same situaqtion?
Just a little worried
NB: I am ROFA's sister, writing on her behalf. She is in for an interview in Montreal, she asked me to do this.

Hiya........This is a normal timeline, the I-130 will of been transfered to California as Nebraska no longer process the I-130, there are a few people with the August NOA dates, its a very long wait i know, but they must be pretty close to processing all those people with August NOA's........Good Luck!!
