IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedurescan anybody please help us

I agree with fwaguy that it is typically done by the county and not the city. You should contact the county the marriage took place in for the answer. This really doesn't seem like a big deal, hope you get it sorted out.

thank you.you guys are so kind and helpful. do you know what kind of department we'd be looking for at the county, would it be a town hall or something?

City Hall is the place where you would of got your marriage license from, did you>??..............did you get your license & then after your wedding did you get your marriage certificate??

EDITED to give e.g..................
I also got married in the US........we went to Detroit city hall to get the license, after the wedding we went back to city hall with the signed license & they converted it into a marriage certificate!!........BUT not all states are the same here its all on the same paper license & certificate.....other states may issue seperate bits of paper

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCase Complete at NVC

Just learnt this morning that our case has been completed at the NVC!!

Now I'm wondering: does anyone know how long it takes London to schedule a green card interview after they receive the stuff from NVC?

I have of course looked it up and seen responses varying from two weeks (although I think that was a K3) but there's another Green Card UK couple on here who have been waiting since the beginning of October and not got an interview date yet.

The official info is that London takes 4-12 weeks.

Is that 4-12 weeks to SCHEDULE an interview, which is then another 4 weeks? Or is that 4-12 weeks between receiving package and having the interview? Because I seem to remember that when you get your interview letter through, the interview is usually scheduled about a month in advance.

Any info would be much appreciated!

It works out as close to 2 calendar months from case complete

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNVC send confirmation of case complete?

Dear all,

According to the automated response, our case was completed by NVC on 21st November 06. Our packet was forwarded to the London Embassy on 28th November.

Can anyone tell us if the NVC sends a letter to beneficiaries to confirm that the case was completed? Is this done at the same time that they send paperwork to the embassy? We emailed the NVC to ask about this and they managed to respond without answering our questions.

We called the London Embassy a few days ago and they said they hadn't yet received our paperwork.

We're just curious because the NVC automated response says "please allow x weeks and we will contact you". We haven't been contacted however and the only way we know about the completion is by phoning NVC on a regular basis.

Any experience or advice is appreciated. Many thanks and good luck on your visa journies!

Scouseredneck

Yes eventualy NCV will send a letter to the petitioner to say the file has been sent to London, dont call the embassy number as its a call center in Scotland  , you will be best emailing London direct, normaly it takes around 2 calendar months from case complete to interview!!
Good luck

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresIR1 / CR1 General Guides and Info

i have been reading the guides for filing IR/CR visa. i have noticed in the checklist of required documents that only I-864 (affidavit of support form) is listed. the letter from NVC however provides for the I-864A form which should be filled up.

when is this form needed?
and who should sign this form?

thanks a lot

Hi, If you have a joint sponsor then they will fill out & sign the I-864A  , if you dont need to use a joint sponsor then you only use the I-864, signed by the USC!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-864A - do we need to include this with our I-864??

I have my I-864 here almost ready to go but I am very confused with the I-864A in the pack. Do we need to fill it out???

My husband is my only sponser and he makes over the poverty line without using his assets. I have been living here with him since the end of November with him (on my K3)...am I classed as a 'household member'.

Its all very confusing and I am hoping we don't have to include it at all!

Louise

If your not useing a joint sponser you wont need the I-684A so just dont send it back!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedurescuriosity about expediting

I've read a few things which suggest that, if you have definite travel plans in the near future, it could be possible to expedite your visa case. I'm just curious to what sort of situation this applies to and how one would go about it?

Of course we all have to be patient and I'm in no way hopeful that there is any way of speeding things up, but my student visa for the UK runs out in June and we have a wedding reception planned for ourselves with all my American relatives in July and it's looking like my husband's visa won't be approved in time. If we'd thought it would take longer than the end of July we'd have gone for a K-3 but unfortunately some forms got lost in the mail on their way to us so things have gotten delayed more than we had planned for so we're trying to look into possible ways of getting around things. Doubtful, but I am curious about any experiences others have had.

Patiently waiting...

Biographic information recieved by NVC on January 31st
I-864 sent to NVC on Feb 7, not recieved yet by NVC - any day now!

K3 through London is pretty fast anyway, i see no reason in what you wrote in your post for your case to be expedited..............it will fly by you'll see!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS-3032
Yes you can use the shortcuts if you want to, but those 2 forms arrived at my husbands house pretty fast!!, however i had left a filled out DS-3032 that i downloaded from the web and signed it so he could just send this with out loseing any time, as you know this form gets sent to the spouse in the spouses country!!.....we didnt use the barcoded DS-3032 they sent us, my husband wrote our case number clearly in the top right hand corner, & NVC accepted that!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVisa processing times

I am a USC citizen and my husband is a UK citizen, we got married in the UK and now want to move back the the US.. We have just filed the I-130 petition..
We both live in the UK but are having to file all our paper work through the vermont office becuase I have
limited leave to remain in the UK

I spoke to a lady at the USCIS today and she said that the process could take around 5 years !!!!....
IS this likely ?

NO calm down :P Vermont is actualy pretty fast these days, it takes about a month give or take a day or 2 to get an approval , then time through NVC which is anything from 2-5 months, then interview, it will take a matter of months not years.........Good look, look at timelines this will give you a much better idea

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNebraska

I don't see I-130 on their timeline for US Citizen Petition for Alien Spouse. Are they forwarding it to another processing center? IF so which one?

There are only 2 service centers processing I-130, that is Vermont & California, I-130's sent to Nebraska & Texas are tranfered to California, so your USCIS case number will begin with WAC, that is for california!!

 I'm here on a K3 and have applied for EAD so i will beable to apply for a SSN!!..........I will be going back to the UK for my CR1 interview, just waiting for case complete, my question is, if by that time i have a SSN, then i would NOT check the box??........or do i still check it & get a different card, is there any difference??.......................hm is this a silly question

Just check "YES" that you have an SSN and list the number and check "YES" that you want a card for question 33a and check "YES" for 33b. That way if all goes well you will be issued an unrestricted SSN card within 3 weeks of entry with the CR-1 visa.

Thank you.........

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresmarriage in USA

I am a uk citizen visiting my girlfriend here in the USA. WE have decided that we want to get married immediately, while im here on a visa waiver programme. Does anybody here know what pitfalls we may encounter if we do this? .
We intend to get married and apply for AOS immediately. Ihave no reason or desire to to return to the UK, is this an option that is open and readily available to us. we are in California, but would be moving to Arizona, would it be better to marry in Cali-or AZ?

Yes its an option..............as long as you had no intent to marry upon arrival, & its a "spur of the moment" thing!!
I think there is info about this route in the guides at the top of this page, good luck!!....as for where to get married, that realy makes no difference!!

It is unlikley that you will be allowed to enter the US on the Visa Waiver Program as you are the wife of a USC and therefore are deemed to have immagrant intent...

you may have to wait until your visa is approved....

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresthose highlighted yellow boxes on the pdf for ds230

I printed out my ds230 to get ahead of the game but i have a problem. I could not for the life of me find where i could select to not print out the yellow boxes. So i sent my DS230 to my wife (the usc) and it has yellow boxes on the form. Do ou see this being a problem? I don`t see why it should be but has anybody else ever done this?

Another problem was the additional sheet for my trips to USA. Should it include certain information or is additional sheet for question 25 ds230 sufficient?

thanks

Hi! Hopefully someone can help me out :) I mailed my $70 fee for the I-864 on Feb 15. The NVC number (last week) said that the DS3032 choice of agent was recv'd. (We did the email) and that my forms would be sent within the next couple weeks. How long does it normally take? I am going to have my hubby fill out the DS-230 and mail it to me now. That way once I get he papers from NVC, I can go ahead and just send them off with the barcode. Does this sound right? :help:
