Wedding celebration details in Cairo for those that want to attend!!!

May 21st Thursday - Meet my new friends in Cairo and go shopping with them!

May 22nd Friday - Rent the wedding dress. Meet the family (Mom, Dad, Brothers, Sisters) in Al Zaytoon and check on the details for the celebration with them.

May 23rd Saturday - Wedding celebration day! Take dress to Hair & Make-up place. Then go to wedding portrait place for pictures. Go to hall in the Al Nour Mosque (the light: http://ar.wikipedia....asjed_elnor.jpg). It is next to Waleed's old medical school at Ain Shams (the eye of the sun) University near Abbasya Square. Take pictures outside the Mosque first thing. Celebration in hall before sunset for one hour with video tape rolling.

Afterwords we go check into a hotel to change and then we go back out to an old classy restaurant called the Greek Club or in arabic Alnadi Alyounani and we meet with friends there. Everyone pays for themselves.

May 24th Sunday - Return the dress and stay another night in the hotel.

May 25th Monday - Leave for Hurghada for the summer!

Cost Estimate:

Hair Make-up for bride: $50

Dress $150

Portraits $50

Hall with Video for one hour $80

Hotel for 2 nights: TBD as we're still looking for an affordable one.

Car to take us around will be provided by his sister's husband.

All the details are tentative but this is our plan. He just needs to make the reservations for everywhere. His sister was at the Mosque earlier when she called him asking him for what day so I guess everything is going ok and we are getting the simple quiet wedding we like after all. I'll let you know for sure when he sends me the note that he made the reservation.

If you have any recommendations on dress shops or hair and make up places to go to please let us know.

Also if you are in Cairo you may call him anytime please and let him know you are coming or if you have suggestions or would like to meet up with us. He will store your number in my phone he got me as well. He asked me who is coming on my side? I said I don't know but I will ask! It would be nice to have someone there for me since my family and friends in the US can not make it.

Once your back in the states you can have your last named changed to your husbands. I first had mine changed on my ss card. It doesn't cost anything. Thou it does take it sum time.

Hello Everyone,

I have a couple of question's , I received approval notice Feb. 24,09 And that our case has been sent to NVC. The start of this month I was told to pay the affidavit of support along with processing fee. Which I have done. Question 1) Are their any more fee's, if so how much ? Question 2) What is the next step. And final question , does anyone know approximately how long before my husband's interview.

From your timeline your case has been completed at the NVC. You should be given an interview date. The Consulate Officer (CO) can approve your husband his visa the sameday and he can pick it up the next day. Don't always assume you will go into Administration Processing (AP). Wondering if it will help any on the administration process

Hello Everyone !
My husband's and I case has been sent to NVC, which I assume after we are assigned a consultant. We will get an interview. Which leads me to my question. God willing if my husband's visa is approved , we are prepared that we will go into administration process. My husband worked for a year for the US Embassy in Islamabad , though the security company Wackenhut. And I was wondering being he worked there , if that would help out any with the administration process ?

When I filed for my husband visa we were shy a few mo. of being married 2 yrs.

Maybe my question is silly, but I was told I have a IR1. Which in my understanding is for people that has been married 2 yrs or more. Our anniversary date is 1-23-07 , when I filed for his visa we were shy of being married by 2 months. And when I left Pakistain we had been married for a year & 5 months. Does the IR-1 still apply to us ?

Hi, i feel your pain. I am currently going through the same situation. We had our interview on January 9th 2009, and i am still waiting. I am due any day now with our first baby, and i am having to do it with out my husband as well. We are praying we hear something within the average of 6 months, Inshallah Allah will do whats best for all of us.

Now I have some questions

1- how long this AP normally take
2- is there's anyone here was in the same situation like me and what happened with him
3- after you read my interview story is that mean that I'm approved in the interview
4- and is the joint sponsor have to live in the same state ma wife live in

No the co-sponsor does not have to live in the same state, as far as I know, but the co-sponsor has to be a US citizen or a green card holder. And must meet the poverty guild lines and be able to show their past 3 years W2'S. As for AP, sorry to say, but their is no set time limit. Could be weeks to years. And from the sound of it your approved , as long as you get a co-sponsor that meets the requirements.

Age Difference of 17 years

Sorry to say I agree , as their are very few true divorce's there. Sumtime back their was a lady that posted on here, she never knew her husband was married. But when Uscis investigated they found he was married. Needless to say she was heart-broken. I pray this is not the case with you !

When embassy ask to submit passport

hey sister if he is really on AP then they will call him after completing of AP bz its was the same situation of my other friend he got call after 32 days of AP to submit his passport. anyway its better to email embassy for it they will give u response very soon. inshaallah.

Salams I did e mail the embassy, thou did not say why they ask for his visa nor did they if he is on AP. Below is their reply...

Dear Sir/Madam,

Our record indicates that we did receive the documents from the applicant but those haven’t been reviewed yet. You are requested to wait and we will contact you once the documents are reviewed.

When embassy ask to submit passport

Ok now I'm completely confused, when talking to my husband yesterday. He told me that the lady that did his interview told him when he sends his police clearance to them , to also submit his passport. She also told him she will process his case. I'm I getting excited for no reason ? Cuz I always assumed that the embassy doesn't ask for passport until they are ready to issue visa. But at the end of his interview he was giving a blue paper saying he needs to submit his original police clearance and he would be put on AP. Why ask for his passport if they are not ready to issue visa ?
Please does anyone know about this ?

anyway - work up those 2 calendars, putting in timeticks on each timeline.
Is a good exercise for you - you can gain some knowledge from doing the homework.

Salam, My husband said to go to your SP district office, ask for application for police clearance. They will forward it to your local police station which they will check to see if you have any record. If not they will send back to SP. There is no fee and will take only a couple of days, maybe less.

I appreciate your time , but I really don't feel, me converting to Islam is a factor of his long AP. As I know of at-least one other case where the wife converted to Islam, and they did not receive AP. As I was writing this Thune's (State Senators) office called , which I asked if they felt his name was causing the long AP. Which they told me, When doing the name check every-time they have a hit on his name, they have to go back and make sure he is not the same person as the hit.
Now maybe I'm wrong in my thinking. But ... It makes sense to me !

hi muhammad and maryam as my knowledge of experience your husband case is different and special compare to other AP visa wating members because your case category is different than other your case category is change of religion category and there is a lot of other factor involve in your case and this type of case have a different process which mean every single process take extra time and i think your husband AP normal 6 to 8 month process time is complete as my knowledge of experience your husband is now last category process stage which mean USCIS DOS AND NVC every 6 month arrange secret meeting this meeting purpose discuss only religion type of cases this meeting decide they satisfy with beneficery and petationer case or not if they satisfy both petationer and benifecery case they issue him a usa visa if in case officer can not satisfy with both case it will take more extra month or time

WoW ... You have me totally confused !! What do you mean " Our case category is different" ? He has a IR1, and you mentioned "change of religion category" He has not changed his religion thou I did. If you are the citizen, you should have your certificate of citizenship. The A number is on that certificate. And your spouse doesn't have an a-number yet. I'm confused. Are you saying you don't have contact with yourself for years.

I'm sorry to say but I can't see how you will make it for your babies birth. Your wife will have to file for a spouse visa. I was liveing in Pakistan with my husband , and my father became very ill , I tried to get him a visit visa so we could see my father. They deined us on the spot ! Also I will say I'm not sure you can get a spouse visia being the both of you are 1st cousins. My best advice is for your wife to speck to an attorney. He can best tell you.

You only need the police certificates for the countries you've lived in, not towns. And they are easy to obtain. The process is long, but if you believe in each other, it's certainly worth it! Good luck.

I'm sorry , but that is not correct. My husband just had his interview on the 7Th. He has lived in Swat
and is now living in Islamabad. He had to obtain police clearance from each Providence.

K-1 Visa versus K-3 Spouse Visa

Hello, and welcome to VJ. I'm sorry but I can't give any advise on K-1 visa vs K-3. But these things I do know, as I went to Pakistan to marry my husband and to make my new home. But with my step mother being diagnosed with cancer among other things, I returned back to the states after living in Pakistan for close to 2 years. So ... I will tell you things that I'm aware of ... Your visa for Pakistan will be for 90 days. ( unless it's change since I've been there) Once you have married have your Nikah attested. And also have affidavits ( which are attested) from people that attended your marriage. From his mom and dad is very good. As for how long it will take, no one can tell you including an ATTORNEY. As most cases out of Pakistan are put on AP. I also hired an Attorney, my husband interview was in January. We have now been in AP for 7 months. Sorry , but an attorney does not lessen the waiting time. In fact if you can save your money and do the filing yourself. Only reason I hired one was due to stress and working alot of hours, and did not want to make any mistakes. Mistakes = delays. As for your question regarding police clearance , my husband did not need a request letter from the embassy. I'm assuming the reason they say this, is maybe sum require a request letter. Have your husband try to get the police clearance while he's there. And if they wont give it to him , then he'll have to get a request letter. Also keep in mind that a police clearance is only good for a certain amount of time. I'm not certain how long, so you should read up on it.

Expedite Request Suggestion

I agree with the suggestion of waiting a few more months...
My fiancée worked for the Department of State and currently she conducts interviews at the US embassy for the exchange students and professors coming to USA on a scholarship, as requested by the US consulate whenever they have interviews scheduled....

And my husband worked for the US embassy. He was in AP over a year !
