I can totally understand how hard it is being away from their love one. This coming July will be two years that I left Pakistan, alot of special occasions and holidays we have spent apart. I'll tell ya , I came back to the states to visit my parents and to make a long story short. My mom passed away Dec 23 of "08". Tried to get our case expedited , so that my husband could meet her , but my attorney said that it could not be done. She so much wanted to meet him , as he wanted to meet her. With all this stress I now get migraines which I never had before.
Anyhow ... Enough of this. But ... I have faith and know we will be together. And yes it's very correct their are alot of people out their that is not as fortune as us. I'm very grateful to ALLAH for giving me my wonderful husband and my new family.
We all must stay strong and have faith in ALLAH that he knows best !

they asked us for brothers names only not sisters names this is what they wrote in the email. and they wanted this informations from us at 12 january2010.

I don't know , doesn't make sense to me , why they ask from 1 person for brothers and another from another all siblings :wacko:

DOS told u that embassy called urs husband !
Maryam did embassy realy called ur husband for his brothers names ?

Last month my wife called DOS and DOS told her that embassy beein trying to call ur husband for his brothers names, and i realy did not received any call from them . so we sent embassy an email and in the email they mentioned that they want name of my brothers , they did not mention my parents names because on DS-230 i already gave them names of my parents like everyone.


Ya DOS told me that the Embassy had called my husband. This was a Friday that I called DOS, and they had said that the Embassy had called my husband. But later on in the following week the Embassy called him. I will also add , they asked for ALL siblings names and b-day. Which I did , and after I sent an e mail with what they ask for, I got another e mail from them asking me to put gender in front of siblings names. Ya they have your parents info , so they do-not need their names. Also ... They want sisters names too , not only brothers.

Sorry , I myself don't have the answer. Thou ... I do have a question & a suggestion.
First , what is the final process ? And did you have to supple siblings names & b-day's.
I'm wondering if this is random , or if everyone has to do it.
As for my suggestions , TO ALL of us, when calling and they tell us for example (visa in final
process) ask what is final process , and approximately how long it will take, It's our right to ask.

Good Morning Everyone :)

Just now I called DOS to check on my husbands status on AP , in which she told me to give them time to
review the e mail I had sent them. Giving all his siblings names and b-day's , and if I don't hear from them
by next week , to call again. And for those of you that might be wondering why they are asking for siblings names.
I ask the lady , and the reason she gave me , was they are checking as how many brother's and sister's he has in
the states. So ... If that is case , he should have no problem , as he has none.
Anyway ... Just thought I would share that bit of info.

Hi Mary i also got an email from embassy this month asking me to provide them names of my brothers and i replied them and they also replied me back confirming that they received the email and that they have updated the information , it was the first time they contacted me after 4 months and ur husband just had interview and they
asking for his informations i think now they have started working on the cases faster ,

I simply call the number that they give you with the letter for the NVC. Dont have it on me, but it ends in 1225 I think. As soon as the automated operator answers, just push 1, then 0. I actually had to yell at one "Visa Specialist" the other day. Some lady named BJ or VJ or whatever answered and she was very rude to me. WOuldn't let me talk. She kept interrupting me, talking over me, being loud with me, when all I had was a question. Finally, she just said "Ma'am, I can't tell you anything about your case except AP." then she hung up before I could ask her anything. SO I called back, waited on hold, AGAIN< for like 10 min. Then Anna answered. She was nice but I told her I wanted a supervisor. When she asked why I told her that I needed to talk to someone about the treatment I received. Then she said she was sorryand asked if I wanted the supervisor to contact me back since they aren't allowed to transfer calls. Then she offered to help me out and asked what happened. I explained it all and she said she was greatly sorry and that no one should talk to us like that. I told her that we are told by NVC, Embassy, and DOS themselves to contact DOS regarding our case and that I thought they were supposed to be there to help us and answer our questions. We are not TRYING to harass or bother them, even though it may seem like it since all the get is calls all day. But it;s not our fault their computers are always down or that there are no updates on our cases. We have no way of knowing anything about our futures or the status of our loved-ones' futures. We can do nothing but inquire, and I figured that was what I was supposed to do. She said "You are right, we are here to help you." so I gave her the case number again, and she told me AP also, but at least told me that AS OF Jan 12 it was in AP, so it had been updated in the system since then. She said there are no problems with the case, no papers are being requested, yes it still says approved.. etc. So, she apologized again and asked for the lady's name and I told her BJ and she said she will tell her not to treat the callers like that anymore and that it is not right. Then she asked if I still wanted to file a complaint and I said no. SO anyhow. Thats what's up at DOS.

p.s. the thing that pissed me off most was that most of this "visa specialists" are obviously not American by birth, you can hear in their voice. Of all people they should be a little more sympathetic of the immigration process.


Sorry to hear how she treated you, I guess sum people forget their roots, and feel working for the embassy sum how makes them better than others. As for the contact #, the number that was given to my husband is .... 051-208-2700. Is this correct, and also my husband interview was the 7Th of this month. Do you think it's to soon to call ?

Hi,

I had my interview on Dec 30th 2009 and at the end of it the lady said told me "congrats you're approved and enjoy your new life in America". I got excited thinking I was not going to be put in AP since I lived in US for 5 years, but, then she handed me a Green Sheet saying that I had been put in AP and they will ask for my passport when they are done.

The thing is that she TOOK my passport right then, I even got a little pinkish receipt so I could pick it up from the American Express offices.
I noticed that most people over here placed on AP were returned their passports and told to submit them latter. So why was mine kept?

Its been three weeks now and I still have not heard anything yet.

What does all this mean? They took my passport, so is that a good sign? How long do you guys think I will have to wait in this limbo?

I have been trying the embassy but as you can imagine they have not helped at all. I cant even get through to a person anymore. The phones are stuck in this infinite loop meant to drive us insane :(.

That's pretty much what happened to my husband on Jan 7Th. Thou he was told he would be put on AP.But he was missing his original police clearance from Swat, so was told when he sends in his police clearance to also include his passport. As you, I thought they didn't ask for passport till the end.
Well ... At least you got a reply to your question.
I hope it will be soon when you get your visa. :thumbs:

Ok now I'm completely confused, :crying: when talking to my husband yesterday. He told me that the lady that did his interview told him when he sends his police clearance to them , to also submit his passport. She also told him she will process his case. I'm I getting excited for no reason ? Cuz I always assumed that the embassy doesn't ask for passport until they are ready to issue visa.

Did the CO gave him a green letter stating that he is in admin processing? Cuz i was told and given the green letter after the interview that i was put under AP.In my opinion, after they receive the police report then they will decide if ur hubby is in ap or not.


Yes he got a letter that looks blue to me. Which states they need his original police clearance from Saidu Sharif , and also states before they can issue him a visa his case requires additional administration process.
