Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	I-751 November 2010 Filers	updating our dates We had our biometrics a day after our appointment and had no problem just walkin in, we did call before to make sure this was OK however, I received a letter saying that the FBI could not process my finger prints and that I have to go again on 12/30 The manager at the ASC give us the following tips: I-751 are being approved without interview if enough evidence was submitted with application, he said that if we did we most likely receive card in mail very soon. He also told us that we should return current residency cards once we receive the new ones in the mail, that we should go to the field office and return them at anytime or the day of the interview. He said that if these cards get lost or stolen and somebody else uses the information on them, we may have problems later. Do you just go to the front desk and fill out a form? I read somewhere online that one person's experience was that the police came to his house and he had to bribe them and then he had to have neighbors write letters that he was a good person and provide copies of their passports with the letters. Does this kind of stuff really happen? Any more specific information you can give about what your process or your loved one's process was like is greatly appreciated. Thanks again! Sorry for the delay in response. OK, He needs to go to the local police station & fill a form. Also he needs to pay a Demand Draft of some rupees in favor of "Deputy Commissinor of Police" After that the local police station will send his case to Crime Investigation Department. Then a local police officer will come to his house & inquire with neighbours about his character. Yes neighbours have to write a letter about his character & how long they know him. Yes the best & fastest way is to bribe them so that they can do it quickly. Otherwise they will delay it & you never gonna get it. Once he got the police certificate then go to the Local Passport office & apply for the Police Clearence Certificate from there as well. In most of the cases, It only takes one day & he does not need to bribe any one. Just fill the form & pay the fee & they will give that certificate on the same day. Don't make mistake like many people does (including me) by not having joint bank account & credit account. You still have plenty of time so below items most likely will serve you good: 1) Joint bank account statements (must) 2) Joint credit card statements (must) (Citi card will give you statements with both names after 2 months assuming your wife adds you as an authorized user) 3) Joint mortgage/ rent lease 4) Joint medical / dental / life insurance (almost a must) 5) Visit doctors frequently (assuming you have joint insurance) just for monthly check up & keep saving the bills that will be mailed to both of you. 6) Have the foreign spouses relatives send mails/card by postal service & keep saving the envelopes 7) Joint car insurance 8) Go to vacations. Doesn't have to be long or expensive. At least spend I would say 1 weekend in every 4 months in close by city/state & keep saving the hotel reservation & flight/train/bus booking confirmation. 9) If you like pets, get a dog or cat & get certificate from appropriate authority stating both of you are the pet owner. 10) Open AAA / Costco membership (If money is no issue) 12) Make sure both of you always have driver's license or state issued ID card with same address. (almost a must) 13) Create a will (from wells fargo or talk to your bank). Add the spouse to your will 14) Sponsor an animal in local zoo (doesn't cost too much). Get joint certificate of sponsorship. 15) Shop online (ebay/amazon). Make sure to use spouse's name as recipient. Again, doesn't have to be anything expensive or too frequently. At least 1 item in every 2 month. 16) Gas, cable, electric bills in both names. 17) Add spouse to your work emergency contract. 18) Take pictures together (possibly in different outlook,hair style) in every 2 months. 19) Get joint phone plan (I know T-Mobile has it. Figure it out). Always use your joint credit card, joint bank account (debit card) to bay bills (phone, gift, e.t.c) 20) Child's birth certificate I wish someone had told me all this 1 year ago Good luck. But she does not want me to miss this oppurtunity as it hard to get in this economy. I was thinking to go there & work for couple years & then come back here to my wife & child. Wir wollen die Ceremony abends um 6 abhalten und dann um 8 essen gehen. Aber jedes gute Restaurant in Sioux Falls scheint ausgebucht zu sein wegen Weihnachtsfeiern. Und da meint doch die eine am Telefon ich solle doch unter der Woche und nicht am Freitag feiern. Ich hab sie dann noch mal ganz lieb erinnert, dass es sich um einen Hochzeitsempfang handelt - so nach dem Motto: Denk nach Mädel. Jedenfalls krieg ich langsam Panik. Ich denk langsam ich muss zu McDonalds gehen. Es ist wie verhext. Gift Registry: Wir sind bei Target und Pier1 eingetragen. @ Anna: Kahla Porzelan. Wie schön. Ich weiss dort in der Nähe war auch Griesson und wir haben uns am kostenlosen Kaffeestand immer die Bäuche vollgeschlagen und ein Haufen Zeug aus dem Werksverkauf mitgenommen. Die schönen alten Studentenzeiten.... Brot: ich werde selber backen früher oder später, dieses Toastbrot macht mich wahnsinning. Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)	German people...rührt euch!!	@ Jana: Ich habe Kommunikationswissenschaft studiert, die haben hier nur communication studies und das ist vieeeeel unwissenschaftlicher als in Deutschland. Da wurde schon mit grossen Augen geguckt dass ich alle quantitativen und qualitativen Methoden kenne und Statistik beherrsche. Das klingt doch als ob Du da richtig Karriere machen kannst. Ich denke eh, dass unser Diplom sehr gut ist, auch wenn sie sich mit der Akzeptanz immer ein bißchen schwer tun. Bei uns hier in South Dakota ist das mit so eine Sache mit großen Lebensmittelkonzernen. Es gibt da eine riesigen Schlacht- und Verarbeitungsbetrieb wo ich bestimmt was in der Qualitätssicherung bekommen könnte, aber es arbeiten dort viele seltsame Menschen und Nathan hat gesagt: lieber kein Geld als da arbeiten. Es gibt an der Uni aber ein Forschungsprojekt mit Östrogenen und Krebs und so was in der Art habe ich im Studium mal gemacht und da werde mich wohl dort informieren. Und wir kennen jemanden aus der Personalabteilung des größten Krankenhauses hier in der Gegend und vielleicht komm ich ja so an was - sonst fang ich erstmal im Verkauf von nen Klamottenladen an - so hab ich mir beim Abi ja auch meinen Führerschein verdient. Wir können bei den ganzen Hochzeitskosten nicht einfach noch 1 oder 2 tausend Dollar rausschmeissen. Außerdem hatte Nathan Anfang des Jahres einen Achillessehnenriss und hat da 6 Wochen nicht arbeiten können. Zum Glück ist es der Familienbetrieb und sein Papa hat weiter bezahlt, aber wir können jetzt nicht sagen - so wir fahren dann mal für 2 Wochen in die Sonne, wenn er schon jetzt mit Urlaub in Deutschland das 4-fache des amerikanischen Urlaubs hatte. Ich weiss schon jetzt, dass ich mir einen Job in meiner Fachrichtung abschminken kann. Ich bin Diplom-Ernährungswissenschaftlerin und hab meine Diplomarbeit im Fachbereich Lebensmitteltechnologie - Multiple Emulsionen geschrieben. Ich hätte da in Massachusetts promovieren können, aber das ist viel zu weit weg von Nathan. Wer weiss, was ich dann mache, aber bei den Colleges will ich mich auch als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter bewerben. Hab schließlich ne umfassende Laborausbildung gehabt und zum Glück kaum Ernährungsberatung - das wäre zu frustrierend für mich, die Leute lügen einem eh nur die Tasche voll - so nach dem Motto bei uns liegt das in der Familie ... Nathan und ich haben gerade die Augustana Chapel für den 1. Dezember gebucht und damit steht der Hochzeitstermin fest. Hab dann gleich noch den Fotographen angerufen und das Datum festgesetzt. Ich hab jetzt ganz schön Bammel vor heute Abend, da Nathan und ich entschieden haben ganz klein zu heiraten und im Januar groß zu feiern, werden wir heute abend zu seinen Tanten und Onkeln fahren und denen sagen müssen, dass sie nicht dabei sind. Ich werd bestimmt los heulen. Es ist ja nicht, dass ich es gerne anders hätte, aber es tut mir irgendwo verdammt leid und sie werden bestimmt auch super enttäuscht sein. Ich hab mal angefangen nach Honeymoons zu schauen und die wollen für 3 Tage Las Vegas so um die 700 bis 1000$ haben. Das fand ich schon arg viel. Wo seid Ihr denn auf Hochzeitsreise gewesen? Was man nie vergessen darf ist, dass online der Einschreiben Status nicht immer aktuell ist. Mein Einschreiben hatte laut diesem Status 4 Tage bis zur Auslieferung benötigt. Viel Erfolg bei allem @alle: Fange gerade an die AOS Papiere vorzubereiten und bin auf die Frage nach der Nonimmigrant Visa Nummer gestoßen und in meinem Visum ist keine der Nummer als solche deklariert. Vorher hatte ich gar keine Chance Euch allen zu berichten, was ich aber nun tue und werde dann auch öfter wieder online sein. Ich muss dann erstmal ganz in Ruhe lesen was ihr alles so geschrieben habt. Also mein Flug war gut. Vorher war ich emotional schon ganz schön nah am Wasser gebaut. Die Mischung aus Traurigkeit wegen dem von zu hause weggehen, meiner Flugangst und der riesigen Freude endlich Nathan in die Arme zu schließen, waren irgendwie ganz schön überwältigend. Also zum POE - in meinem Falls Minneapolis - alles war okay, aber ich habe mich echt veräppelt gefühlt. Also bei der Einwanderung hat meine Unterlagen so ein riesiger tätowierter Typ durchgesehen, der sich für super witzig hielt. Also erstens hat er permanent irgendwas gefaselt von That is not good - und auf mein Nachfragen nix gesagt und dann wollt er wissen, wie ich denn Nathan kennengelernt habe und als ich zu dem Falling in love Teil kam - sagte er nur: And then you kissed and then what... weird . Naja ging ganz fix alles in allem und der Zoll wollte auch nix von mir. Da der Flug mit starkem Rückenwind war, war ich ne 3/4 h eher da und noch bevor Nathan da war mit allem durch. Ich war super erleichtert. Danach sind wir dann gleich mal in den Whole Foods gefahren (wir haben in Sioux Falls keinen und da bot sich Minneapolis an, brauchten auch noch Echinacia/Goldenseal Liquid und Zinc Elderberry drops für die kalte Jahreszeit ) und haben 3 mal Quark für 4 $ pro Packung gekauft, aber Nathan hat sich so sehr Quarkkuchen gewünscht, dass ich es ihm nicht abschlagen wollte - nächste Woche wird gebacken. Danach ging es dann gleich zu Ikea und wir haben gut geshoppt und unser Haus ein wenig gemütlicher gestaltet. Männer sind so unordentlich . Da hat Nathan noch gemeint er hätte letzte Wochen geputz und ich dachte, mich trifft der Schlag als ich das Chaos gesehen hab - er erzählte was von deutscher Gründlichkeit nachdem ich das Haus wieder in den Zustand gebracht hatte, in dem ich es verlassen hatte. Aber das ist okay wir haben da ne ganze gute Aufteilung bei allen Aufgaben und mich stört es nicht. Dann haben wir erstmal angefangen alle Familienmitglieder in der näheren Umgebung abzuklappern und ich wundere mich, dass ich keine blauen Flecke habe von dem ganzen Gedrücke :energetic: - ich fands so schön. Sogar im Supermarkt haben mir die Leute erzählt, sie sind froh, dass ich jetzt nicht mehr weg muss. Ich liebe das Kleinstadtleben. So das wars es erstmal von mir. Liebe Grüße an alle. Im Januar folgt dann der große Hochzeitsempfang und da wird dann nochmal mit allen gefeiert. Ich werde dann versuchen ein paar Fotos ins Netz zu stellen. Mein Kleid hatte ich ja schon im Februar bestellt. Gerade eben habe ich mein Konto aufgelöst und mich offiziell beim Bürgerservice abgemeldet. Ein wenig komisch ist das Gefühl schon jetzt auf einmal wirklich alles hinter einem zu lassen was ich die letzten 26 Jahre gewöhnt war. Ich habe das große Glück in Nathans Heimatort schon 1 Jahr gelebt zu haben und dort viele Freunde und Bekannte zu haben. Ich habe großen Respekt vor all denen, die irgendwo hinziehen wo sie keine Menschenseele kennen und wirklich neu anfangen müssen. Na gut ich pack dann mal weiter. Mir hat jemand letztens den Tipp gegeben übers Internet sprich mit Skype.com nach Deutschland zu telefonieren. Also für alle die schnelles Internet haben und das noch nicht kennen - billige Alternative zu den teueren amerikanischen Ferngesprächen. Und von Skype zu Skype ist es sogar kostenlos.
