That court is pretty slow. Even if they do take their time, May is in the process of getting the "Holy Grail" document (annotated CEMAR showing that she is free to marry) which she should have in a few weeks. No worries either way.

Waiting just stinks!

May had her interview on 6/18. When they asked for her Cenomar she said she had a CEMAR (which we are just finishing up that paperwork for annotating her recognition of foreign divorce). The CEMAR showed she was still married but we also provided the Japanese Divorce Decree (which was also included in our K1 package) and she gave them a photo copy(showed them the original too) of the Philippine Court's Ruling (certified from local civil registry) for Recognition of Foreign Divorce. The Consular Officer needed to check something if the paperwork May provided was good enough. He came back in the room, said it was good enough and told her she passed/will be getting the visa. She thanked him profusely to which his response was, "I know." He gave her the Pink slip and she paid her Air21 visa delivery fee.

It has been 6 working days since her interview (7 if you count her interview day). The Air21 tracking site reports the Way Bill number is not in their system. She called the tracking service and they confirmed it has not yet be given to them. I called the USE yesterday and they stated that the case is still with the consular officer and there is no decision recorded. They said the maximum review time is 6 weeks. If the consular officer needs more info the will either text, email or send a letter. If no futher items are needed the visa will be placed in the delivery service.

After some more reading here, either they are holding it for additional processing/review (random selection?) even though they already told her it was approved or I also found the Manila Embassy K1 Visa Guide (http://www.visajourn...-k1-visa-guide/) which talked about getting document verification for certain forms before hand (which we didn't). So it is possible that the Local Civil Registry's certification of the court ruling on Recognition of Foreign Divorce that she submitted is being verified by the USE.

Of course both of the scenerio's above are speculation. It could be that it is just taking more time due to the volume they are processing.

My point is make sure you read the Manila Embass K1 Guide in order to be prepared

That is what we did, had all of the DS-156, DS-156K, DS-157 and DS-160.

May's interview was on 6/18 and the USEM wanted the DS-156, DS-156K and DS-157. She was informed they are not accepting DS-160s for K1 applicants.

The DS-160 form is problematic to fill out. The site times out faster than what they say. My suggestion would be to use the save and download option on each screen. That way if it times out on you, you can upload the form and continue as opposed to starting over.

I already have my K1 visa.
I was wondering how the process on the border works exactly? What should I expect? Will they just look at the visa and open the big brown envelope and keep the papers which are inside? What else?
How long does it take to go through all this? I have to catch a connecting flight.

They gonna give you a I-94 form at the plane or maybe at the immigration border. Just fill it out. They will open the brown envelope and look at your papers. I think mine took like 10 to 15 mins. He asked me some questions like who's my petitioner and what is his address, then I did fingerprint scanning. After that he put stamped on my passport and sign the I-94. If it is inside the plastic envelope you can take the passport out. Just don't open the yellow envelope.

She can get her passport inside the AIR21 plastic. Just tell her, "don't open the brown/yellow envelope because that's her papers".

I have a few questions regarding Form I-134 that I hope you could help me with.

My fiance sent me the form along with his W2's, letter of employment, and letter from the bank. But there was one problem with Form I-134. Instead of checking the "I intend" he ticked "I do not intend" on question #11 regarding financial support.

We both did not understand the question and since it stated "specific contributions" he thought it was best to tick the "do not intend" box. But of course, he's going to be paying for everything. Is that going to cause any problem with the consulate?

Also, do we have to print it in one paper back to back? Can he just scan it with his signature and email it to me? My interview is on Monday and we don't have enough time to have it shipped.

I'm really hoping you can help me. Thank you very much!



I had the same situation before. It would be best if he gonna send another form and ticked intend cuz we had a bit of a problem during the interview because of the question number 11. I had to go back submit new I-134 because the CO question that part and he said he can't issue the visa on that day because of that. You need the original forms and signature i think.

I submitted a certified true copy.. it is also a copy but has a stamped on it. You can go at the court where you had your marriage license and ask for copies.

If you got the letter with a case number starts with MNL, you can call the embassy hotline and schedule an interview.. that's what we did..

An inch rip is fine. My envelope had a rip too and I was so nervous about that on my POE. But the Immigration officer doesn't mind about the rip as long as it's not big.

Yeah i think that is the reason why the sponsorship was denied. it must show that the income situation would likely to improve even though he is not making enough right now. I'm from K1 and also have a co-sponsor and the CO accepted it.

I got married this morning! :) I'm very happy!! Only me and him, we're waiting to do a reception at a later date when my family can come here too.

On the marriage license, i noticed my maiden name is on it, but i think the name i want to use now (married name) was not on it. We already sent it to the Clerk's office, so they can mail us back the marriage certificates. Is it normal they never asked me which name i wanted to use? Or that i never had to write it anywhere? I want to apply for AoS and SSN in my married name, i think all of this might be a problem. Am i wrong? Is it normal?
I'm so confused!!!

Congratulations to both of you! I'm not sure what happened to you guys.. First you would apply for a marriage license then the ceremony. In my case, after the wedding ceremony the judge told me to sign the name that I want to use on our marriage license. After I got the license, we went to SSN office and apply for the card.

Hi All!

I really need help. I am from Seattle WA and been here in the US for a year and a month by CR1 visa. Housewife. My country of origin is Philippines.

I don't know where to start... I'm married to an alcoholic. We've been married for 3 years now and have a two year old daughter together. He goes to the bar every after work, every night, this includes weekends. When he gets home, he drinks more (he always has a full bottle of alcohol in our pantry to get him covered). He's so alcoholic that he wouldn't even remember that we talked or agreed about something or that we slept together (which only happened 3 times since I got here in the US) the other night. This is embarrassing but it's true. I have no issue with him bringing home the bacon because he keeps a good paying job. I am a low maintenance wife, I don't shop clothes, when I need to get my jacket for winter, I got it from walmart and for it for sale. My family in the Philippines are also not asking money from me so basically, we don't have any problem on that part. The problem started on his Alcohol and later on his refusing to sleep with me since August of last year. I was ok with it though it was really hurting my pride but I was ok to stick with the marriage for the sake of our daughter.

Just a month ago, he was out of the country (work related). He asked me to call the bank to put money on our other account which I did but the bank people told me that I could set up an account online under the same account we shared, and I can do this stuff without calling them. So, I did that. And last week, 2 days before he got home from abroad, I checked our account for just some reason, and I found out that he was subscribing to this friendfinder account which charged him almost 30 dollars every month. And I checked the history of the bank statement (which only limit me to check from January of this year), that it's been there for a while, a recurring charge every month. I still was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. So I gave him a warm welcome when he came home because it was his birthday. Two days after that, I asked him about the charge and he said he didn't know anything about it. I asked him to call the bank if he wasn't aware of it so he could cancel any incorrect charges and joked that he could give me the money every month so I could get myself a nice clothes, but he didn't call the bank. I started to get really offended and he admitted to me that he was a subscriber. I called the friendfinder and cancelled the account. He refused to cancel it himself. I don't know his password so calling the customer service with credit info helped.

Right now, I'm really hurt. He's gone again to the bar right at this moment. I want to divorce him but I'm so scared. I don't have money in my hands. How can I hire a lawyer? We share the same account but if I take money from there, he would know for sure because he checks the account regularly I suppose. I don't know if my daughter and I will survive. I don't have friends here since I don't go out ( I don't drive but takes a bus) and if I do, I don't mingle because of my family issues. I am insecure. I am scared. Most of all, I'm confused.

I know my post is long but I hope you give me a chance and read this story and give me any insight on what to do.


If he's an alcoholic, that still can be fixed. He might need to go to rehab to resolve all the stuff related to his drinking which causing your family a big problem.

I don't have to start filing until April 15, but I'm starting to gather evidences. I was wondering if I still needed IRS transcripts or the joint Income Tax Return would be sufficient?

Just checked the USCIS website and says;

The USPS reported that they picked up mail from USCIS containing your new card on December 7, 2012. You should receive your new card within 7 days.

Wohoo! Looking forward on receiving the card on the mail soon!
