If you are already here in the USA, can't you just get married, and follow through on your K1, then apply for advance parole to travel and be with your mother? I do not know how pertinent it is to be with her at this very second, but it could save another year's (at least) wait. However, you know the situation more than we could advise. No, they do not want the certificate that the marriage officiant gave you, you should get one from a registry office. You can keep your maiden name in your passport if you want to - just be sure if you book a flight to book in your maiden name and bring along your marriage certificate. Your birth certificate will remain in your maiden name. As for other stuff, change it to your married name if you like. This is what I did, changed my name on everything but passport (cannot change your birth certificate name). I didn't want to change my passport yet, so I wouldn't have to apply for another tourist visa to visit my husband until he gets here. but other things, it was pretty easy to change, such as drivers license, ssn, work, bills and bank accounts. just had to show them a valid marriage license and/or new drivers license. And on the front was a picture of us from 1988 in Australia... LGG, my binders were full of black jubejubes and blue ones! hehee Okay, really, I had letters from the 80s and 90s that we wrote. They are a hoot. That was one. Then I had a binder of emails since we found each other again last year, and some cards. Then I had...hmmm...oh, a binder full of photocopies receipts, plane tix, etc...from each trip, divided by trip. Then I had one with a letter from my daughter, forms from work showing I put him as the beneficiary. And ring receipts and cards from the jewelry store! Yes, I acted like a 13-year old. But I also was in "work mode" and made it very organized and professional! Oh well....at least they kept the binders. Len, send me a message when/where and how to find you, and I'll be there! Mal, wish you still lived in Issaquah! I love it out there! Now watch. I'll be the one who's still waiting for her NOA2 in a year. ha! IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	Secondary evidence of marriage for Interview in India for CR1 visa	it is very difficult to take pictures in the court. i could only take it outside and then was told to put it away. but we have plenty of other pics of our actual ceremony. maybe you could explain why you do not have pics of the actual marriage, only the engagement ceremony. good luck in the interview one quick question, was the engagement ceremony close to the actual marriage? maybe you can bypass calling it an engagement, if everyone was dressed in traditional attire. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	NVC WANTS LETTER FROM POLICE	i have seen it posted where you might be able to send a letter to NVC and explain to them that the pcc will be presented at the interview. i think they thread is something like submitting packet without pcc. good luck, and remain calm. my husband's pcc he sent me does not have an expiry date either, just the date is was created.
