Here's the thing. It's uneven, unbalanced and unfair. I have noticed that people who have applied and received their NOA1 AFTER me are getting their NOA2's before me.

The USCIS has NOT given me any indication that there is a problem with my case nor if there is any quality about my case that requires further investigation that those cases received after mine. The damn thing hasn't even been touched as far as I can tell.

No, this is not efficient! I would like a legitimate reason from the USCIS as to why my case is taking longer. I have a right to know as a citizen who contributes to this country, pays his taxes etc.

It is a disgrace to me and all Americans to say that we treat people who want to be a part of our nation like garbage. Especially when legitimate, law abiding citizens simply ask their government to allow their LOVED ONES to be a part of their lives here.

I think the manager of the VSC should have some accountability here. There should be more information passed to clients. For example, does the issue of divorce make cases take longer? Are there additional security investigations that need be done with some cases (perfectly legitimate in my view)? Was there something that requires more infomration? Is the USCIS being timely in requesting that information?

Many other countries handle this so much better and are far more efficient in this regard. I say the Us Government has some explaining to do and I think the senators from me state, Vermont and the heads of the State Department should get letters expressing our deep dissatisfaction in one of this country's proud traditions, accepting immigrants!

Cheruvim.

You should be a litle pacient and positive, VSC have been really slow this last monthes ... but you are still within the processing time of 6 months... I have seen August, and Sept approvals lately... and you apply on October, the strange is that you got your NOA1 on January ... have you checked on line at USCIS page?
You should check there and see when did they got your petition, and then you should start counting your 6 months of waiting.
Complaining about US goverment you arent winning anything, you should keep your mind positive, and your apporval will come. Positive thoughts and good feelings, always bring good things to your life!
star_smile.gif

Why should we have to wait 6 months???!!?? CSC currently show it can be done quicker...and that's the point people are trying to make. You also have to bear in mind that VSC and CSC are only one part of the process....add another 3 months to that and it's nine months to be with your loved one......positive? patient? no thanks.....i just want the opportunity to be treated like the human being that I am, and be with my Fiancee. 9 months (and some people, some very patient and misfortunate people have been waiting over a year for a NOA 2) is NOT acceptable.

Ellie, I know it is hard, all this process and all the time we need to wait apart, but it is the way it is, and all the couples have chosen this way to do it, in how many time are we gatting approved? we dont know that. the only thing i can tell you, is that you should calm down a bit, you have only filed on November, and maybe you will be getting your NOA2 before me!!! I have seen so many approvals form UK that dont took the 6 months...
I am just telling you that 6 monst is the processing time at uscis, I am at VSC, and I have been waiting more that 5 months, so I know how hard it is to be waiting.
I am a positive person and I am just not letting USCIS or VSC drive me crazy, thats why I always tell everybody here in the witing room to stay postive and it will come.
I really hope youll get approved soon! good luck! star_smile.gif

I'm sorry i think you missed my point completely. I know i only filed in November (I, like everyone else, look at that timeline daily), but I think it is completely ridiculous that ANYONE should have to wait this long when USCIS can complete a visa for an investor or an overseas worker in half the time. It doesn't matter where you are from. The only thing we are all guilty of is falling in love with someone who is from a different country.

Myself...and Ken are saying that it doesn't need to take this long. SHOULD NOT take this long, and whilst everyone is happy to wait 6 months to be approved for one part of the process, that is exactly what VSC and CSC are going to do.....take that long if they can get away with it. Why shouldn't we be mad about staring down a 7-10 (MINIMUM at present) month process? And I mean anyone. CSC are currently proving that petitions can be processed quickly. Why shouldn't we have greater expectations from these service centres?

I'm going to wait my turn. I have to. But it doesn't mean we should be happy about it. My mother always taught me to challenge the accepted norms and never unquestioningly accept them unless they are meritorious.

Hope to see more good news. Well time is nearing for me. About another 38 hours and we will know sad.gif. No clearance yet. I don't want to b placed into AP then I run into more problems. The wedding is in NOVEMBER!!!!!! awww.... i was wondering...I applied for this K1 visa within 2 yrs of meeting. I last met him in 2006 and applied in 2008. I still havn't seen him..it'll be 3 yrs this september....will that be bad??? I have my phone bills that we have spoken every single day!!!!!!

As long as you met the requirement at the time of filing the petition you should be fine HOWEVER, prepare your fiance for the fact that they will probably question why you have not seen each other for so long.

I applaud you! I dont know how you guys have managed to remain so strong and not have seen each other for all that time! I was going crazy at 3 months!

Just had a brain fart moment reading back on some of the earlier posts.

on my I-134. My fiancee' hasn't ticked either of the boxes saying "intend" or "do not intend to make specific contributions".
but in the comments box put..

"N/A (K1 Visa Process for permanent residence)"

Can I change this to say some thing similar to what julie and ivy said e.g. "will support as required as Wife?"

Or would that be viewed as tampering with the application form ?

I'm kicking myself that I didn't see this earlier....

If anyone can help I would be very VERY grateful.

London likes it ticked and to say something similar as you mentioned above. Fill it in yourself and add the above.

Good luck Gary - it's my husbands Birthday that day and we are sending you good vibes.

Much much luck to you. Hoping to hear good news!

Thanks a lot, interview is this Thursday. Staying in London this week, had my medical last Thursday which went fine I think. 2 quick questions!!

1. Interview is at 9 30am - what time would you suggest I turn up? My interview was for 9 - I was there at 7:30 when they started letting people through - get there as early as possible!

2. Julie sent across the I-134 but has ticked the NO box to will you provide specific contributions question. She left the comments box blank. Should I white out the tick change it to YES and write a comment like "will support as required as Wife?" Tick yes - then use the comment you have said.

Thanks for all your help everyone and good luck for those interviewing on Tuesday

Congratulations Karen and Trev and Jon and Mary!!

As for flights. I booked mine before I even had my visa BUT, I allowed myself over one month from my interview until when my flights were due to leave to ensure that I had that visa in my hand. I wasn't placing my faith in anyone at the embassy getting it right!

If I had held on and waited to book my flights - I would be paying £150 more now.

They may go down more in the last week, but I didnt want to take the chance.

I also have a question, when it comes to the interview, does the visa automatically get sent to the address that packet 3 and 4 are sent to, or can you request for it to be sent to a different address?? Do you fill out the envelope that the visa gets sent in? Thanks in advance smile.gif x

Hmmmm, well I'm not sure if you can just pick any old address or not. If it helps, they actually manually asked me what address I would like to have it sent to.

Wow - I'm blown away, absolutely over the moon. Flying out on 26th June. Only 11 days away!!!!!!!!!!

I was really expecting approval with pending docs but we had no problems at all.
Interview lasted about 45 seconds. Only two questions asked:
Where did you meet?
When did fiance move to US

That's it, your application is all in order. Congratulations. You can expect your visa in 3 - 5 days.

My jaw dropped. I stared at him in disbelief for several seconds and then said That's it? I'm approved? and that was that.

I am totally shellshocked. 18 months waiting and over in 45 seconds. I can't believe it!!!!

Guys - thanks for being such a fountain of wisdom and understanding.

Aoife.

I was number 5003 - seen firstly at 9am and then again at 10:30 - out by 10:40! I recommend getting there early. People who arrived only 20 mins after me were in for one heck of a wait!

I got a bit of a hard ####, who was very matter of fact in her questions, and obviously trying to catch me out. Had a heart jolting moment where she couldn't find proof of david's divorce.....but then she found it!!!

Pink slip issued, courier paid for a before 12 delivery....

SHAZZZZZZZZZZZZZZAM! DONE! I only walked in the door 15 mins ago, so I am overwhelmed and in need of a shower! I have a glass of wine, but because they took my passport, and I have no other ID, I had to have my little sister go and buy me a bottle smile.gif

yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. seee. I knew you'd be ok. congrats. Did anything I told you about the 73 bus actually help. Oh i'm happy for you love....xxx

Awwwww!! Thank you! I actually managed to get the tube! On both the lines i needed to get on! Call it luck of the half welsh or something, because I am telling you, there wasn't an inch of room on either of those tubes and I still squished my fat lil body in there.

Lets just say it was a little steamy in ye olde strike ridden underground and the resulting snappy snap photo's were ummm.....shall we call it....unflattering??! Yes that works. Or, put more aptly, I looked like a shiny, sweaty melon head in a flat dark brown wig.

I tried the tubes first because I had already purchased my day pass, but had that not worked out, I would have known where to find the bus station as i scoped it out just before I made the decision to get intimate with the 3 million other people in my tube carriage.

Thanks again for the bus advise tho.....I think i can cope with London. As long as I have you guys and google maps smile.gif

It was (as many have said) a strange experience. I felt like I was sat in a school canteen / argos / post office.

Thanks everyone....so looking forward to that visa arriving!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

Thanks guys.

I was a bit of a crazy mess this morning. I literally had been badgered from the minute I woke up by work calls, non-work calls, people asking me stuff about was was going to happen during the interview (and actually that made me feel worse having to explain it over and over!!!) so by the time Dave called me at 10:30 this morning, I was being a stressy bessy. Good job he loves me and keeps coming back for more!

I feel ok. I have several plans of action layed out. I must confess the tube strike has really annoyed me, I am hoping that as long as I dont get lost I will have time to find the snappy snaps, get that done and then get to the hotel before 8pm. I just cant rely on the photo booth in the embassy, it seems to be out of order....alot.

I'm signing off for the night now. I am going to have a bath, pack my bag, look over my file for the 50 millionth time to make sure everything is in there, and then head to bed.

Will give a full report on Friday evening...and hopefully some good news smile.gif

I think the thing I dread about the whole situation the most, is navigating my way around London.

I can understand why non-London residents may think it's a scary proposition, but it's really easy (unless there's a tube strike on, which there is right now, in which case it becomes an utter nightmare). Nobody due for interview in the next 48hrs is there? Because I'd be allowing a whole load of extra journey time if I were you. Thank that arsewipe Bob Crow and his RMT cronies for that one.

I JUST looked on the website and saw that there is a tube strike!!! I am going to london on Thursday! Arghgrgrhgrghghhhhhhhhhhh.....I am figuring out a way to walk from London Victoria Coach station to Bond Street (a quick trip to snappy snaps!) and then on to Marble arch which is near my hotel.

As if I wasn't stressed enough!!!!! I need a brandy or something

Good luck on your POE, Laura! You must be so happy.

Can't wait to see those joyous comments on Friday, Ellie. wink.gif

Hee hee....I hope I have joyous comments to make! I wont be able to give the result till quite late as I am not back from London till 8pm and david is in Miami for work and wont have access to a computer.

If it's good news I'll be drinking a glass of wine and giving my review

If it's bad news I'll be drinking a bottle of wine and giving my review

I think the thing I dread about the whole situation the most, is navigating my way around London. I am going up on Thursday evening, getting my pictures done, then going to the hotel. I have such a terrible sense of direction, I could end up half way to Manchester by the time the sun goes down on Thursday!

OMG!!! Interview one week today. I'm dying with nerves. Can't concentrate on anything!!!
I am sooooooooo worried that I'll be asked for paperwork I don't have or that my fiance's affidavit of support won't be accepted and we'll be asked for a co-sponsor.

I'm having nightmares guys!! I mean really - my overactive imagination is getting totally out of hand. I'm a nervous wreck.

On a more positive note, congrats John & Camie. Looking forward to hearing some details...

Dont worry aoiffe, I feel the same way. If they ask me for anymore paperwork....im kind of in trouble. I think i just about covered every base I could on the affadavit of support front - Payslips, employer letter, tax returns for the last 3 years all above the required amount...

John and Camie.....my congratulations. I am so so so so so happy for you. I was going to ask if John would mind distributing boxes of chocolates with little notes saying "please approve the Francis / Carr case on Friday 12th of June 2009....lots of love Ellie"

But

I am in such a state about all of this stuff going on at the moment, I would end up eating the chocolates in one fail swoop and forget that they were actually bought for the purpose of bribary wink.gif

Okay.....so I'm up next - repeats mantra "dont screw it up, dont screw it up, dont screw it up" smile.gif

Congrats again Camie and John!

Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know that my interview is on the 29th June!! Now I can get excited smile.gif One more thing about the I-134 again, If Trev ticks the Intend box, what should he write underneath it? Thanks everyone, Karen x

Congratulations on the interview date!

On our I-134 Dave wrote "it is my intention to support the beneficiary because she will be my wife" or something to that effect.

Nik's gone to sleep, and all of a sudden my stomach is tying itself in knots!! I hadn't felt a thing, not even a little flutter, but now I'm feeling very nervous! I'm sure we'll do JUST FINE, but....eeeeeeeeeeek! Of course, posting to VJ about it has started to make me feel better already.

I think I WILL go to the book store tonight to get a really good book to read tonight. Yes. That's what I'll do.

*crosses fingers* Hopefully I'll be posting our good news tomorrow!

Good luck for today! Actually as I type this it's probably nearly all over for him!

I hope it is wonderful news

All the good vibes are sooo lovely to see. I must admit, alot of people here say that they find that the process seems to have taken forever to do. For me it seems like a blink of the eye since we filed in November.....and sometimes I have to pinch myself that it is happening. Mind you, dave and I have been lucky. We have had 4 weeks together since we filed, which is a lot more than some. I think this has helped make the wait more bearable.

Even though I have booked my tickets, given up my job and moved back in with my mum, on some level I still cant believe it is happening and I dont think I will be able to fully comprehend this until I step off the plane in Tampa, look at Dave's big goofy smile and realise I dont have to go back and forth anymore...

Woooooooooooooooooooooosh. Sorry about that...that was a loooong sentence.

How's the packing going gemmie? Do you feel at all ready? I keep looking around and realising that I am actually going to miss the west country......
