K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresk1 visa processing
I was told or heard of that if your divorce was just recently finalized and jumped into filing petition.. it is better to wait a little bit before jumping filing for the petition. Because the dates are so close together.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWaiting time for K1 Visa Varies
Why is it that some people only wait 2 month in order to receive their NOA 2 since NOA 1 and some can wait as long as 6 months? Why does it vary? Has anyone ever done any analysis on it before? Or does it have to do with the complexity of your K1 visa filing?

It interests me because approx, should take anywhere between 3 months... of time but some people receive it in 2 months....

Does it matter which country?

Anyone have any idea?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNewbie Here Having Question on K1 BEFORE FILING
doesn't seem like problems to me. as for my fiance, he's been to the U.S. many many times on a work visa due to the nature of his job. He still travels to U.S. for certain events and so forth. This is only better for immigration I think bc its proven to them that you are not looking to come to U.S. for the sake of immigrating here.. rather you met someone and really want to start a life here with him/her.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 APPLICATION DELAYED, ANYONE EXPERIENCING THE SAME?
My mom had a similar situation happened to her when she petitioned her husband from China. She petitioned I130 instead of the I-129F. Basically the case was pending based on security check for a very long time they will eventually get to it, but i would suggest have your finance contact a local government official to check on the status of your case. It worked for my mom, she had to contact our city Mayor then she contacted a state representative assmebly member. It really work, usually you will at least get a response and know what's going on.

GOOD LUCK!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAfter NOA 2 - Case received by consulate
Maybe I should ask my question more clearly:

- How would I know that our case has been forwarded to the Seoul Consulate?
- As for NVC ~ when they receive my case, will i receive a notice? Will this notice be in the mail?

Can someone that already went through this process explain the next step to me?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAfter NOA 2 - Case received by consulate
Amazingly - our NOA 2 was approved in just 31 days. My fiance was here visiting for 1 week while we were able to celebrate this wonderful news together. Today he went back to Seoul...... again we always have to say good bye at the airport~ I really hate it but at least this time around we were both so hopefully that soon we don't have to continously fly to see eachother......

We received the NOA 2 in the mail 3/25- so I know what I have to prepare next... but usually will my fiance receive a notice stating that the case has been sent to the consulate & received by the consulate ? Online status has not yet been updated. So, how would i know? What do i have to do next?

I guess they don't update their status online that frequently!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresevidence of having met
My fiance and I had met 4 times - what I did for each time was the cover page is the actual picture taped on a sheet of paper in a protective sheet cover and labeled underneath with the date and location of the photo. I also included various other evidence, such as Passport Stamps and Boarding Passe Copies & Luggage Tags & Receipts. All of those are copied & inserted behind the initial picture document. Then I included an envelop for each of the times that we met..... with extra photos that we took together.

In addition, we had video that we took together while taking tours, I included them on a CD and attached that in the very end.

Basically I had 4 stacks of proof of having met in person, each organized by each time we met. It went really well for me. Our NOA 2 was approved in 30 days.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat is NVC Case Number?
I tried calling this number (603) 334-0700, why is it always BUSY SIGNAL? *-* has anyone had any luck getting through? Receipt number would be the WAC number right?

Another question, on the NOA 2, under my fiance's name, he now has an A Number... that would be his future A # as well?

Should I mail him the actual copy of NOA 2 ? or would i keep that?

I just read our NOA 2 date on our I-797 Form ~ its not 3/25~ its actually 3/20 ~ March 20, 2009

Does that mean our case was apporved on 3/20/2009 ?

I called the NVC Today they said they have not yet received our case yet !!! ..... its been more than 11 days~

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDO i need to hire an attorny to apply for k1/k3?
My experience is that hiring a lawyer to represent your visa is SUCH a waste of money. My mother hired an attorney for her K3 visa to sponsor her husband to the U.S. and she ended up wasting thousands of dollars! I think following directions carefully and always double checking to make sure everything is filled out correctly. Visa Journey has many great example forms that I followed. Its really a great place~ i'm very thankful!

If you read the thread of topics I have posted... thats not true. All K 1 VISA will go through the National Visa Center. It will not be directly forwarded to the consulate of the country. As for my case, NVC did not receive my case yet.

I suppose, you can try calling NVC to check to see if they have received your case.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresJust talked to USCIS ~ for all K1 visa Applications~
HI all! I had some low times at work earlier, I called the USCIS to ask why my case is still showing PENDING when the NOA 2 was received on 3/20. Then I asked a question of WHY my case has not yet arrived at NVC. The operation from USCIS said, that all K1 Visa Cases will NOT BE GOING THROUGH the National Visa Center. She said, according to her notes, that our case will be directly transfered to the country embassy consulate. My fiance would be receiving his packet # 3 !

So,this makes me so confused. Afterall, we WILL NOT be receiving a NVC case # at all. This will be directly going to the embassey consulate...

So, NVC... not a player in this journey ??

Anyhow have any comments ?

Why don't you guys try calling USCIS with your receipt number and talk to an operator....and see what they say ?

I'm like super super confused now !!! its different from everything else i'm hearing ~~

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 petition and expedite @ CSC
Hey, i just filed for K1 Visa through the California Service Center -K1 Visa was approved in 31 days from NOA 1. Its going fairly fast now, seems like an ongoing trend. As for proof, as long as you have pictures together. Print out pictures and lable them correctly. Print out the phone bills and highlights, maybe note that she calls and hang up so you call her back. As for my fiance and I, he calls me and I usually call him back with a phone card. its very costly to talk on cell phons w/o using a phone card. So you can make a note of that. In addition...if you have passport stamps of you being in Thailand visiting her or credit card usage in Thailand, that would work as well.

Don't worry, there are many other avenues if she doesn't have internet!

Perhaps, your case has already been forwarded to your fiance's country embassy!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures1st notice

Hi I cut & pasted the words on my NOA1 for you. You will have a better understanding & for those of you just starting to applying for k1 Visa. This should be very helpful~ RECEIPT NUMBER -

CASE TYPE 1129 F

PETITION FOR FIANCE

RECEIVED DATE

PETITIONER- NAME

BENEFICIARY -NAME

NOTICE DATE

Receipt Notice- This notice confirms that USCIS received your application or petition (this case) as shown above. If
any of the above information is incorrect, please immediately call 800-375-5283 to let us know. This will help avoid
future problems.

This notice does not grant any immigration status or benefit. It is not even evidence that this case is still pending.
It only shows that the application or petition was filed on the date shown.

Processing time - Processing times vary by kind of case. You can check our website at www.uscis.gov for our current
“processing times” for this kind of case at the particular office to which this case is or becomes assigned. On our
websites “case status online” page, you can also view status or sign up to receive free e-mail updates as we complete
key processing steps on this case. During most of the time this case is pending, however, our systems will show only
that the case has been received, and the processing status will not have changed, because we will be working on other
cases that were filed earlier than this one. We will notify you by mail, and show in our systems, when we make a
decision on this case or if we need something from you. If you do not receive an initial decision or update from us
within our current processing time, check our website or call 800-375-5283. Please save this notice, and any other
notice we send you about this case, and please make and keep a copy of any papers you send us by any means, along with
any proof of delivery to us. Please have all these papers with you if you contact us about this case.

If this case is an 1-130 Petition - Filing and approval of a Form 1-130, Petition for Alien Relative, is Only the first
step in helping a relative immigrate to the United States. The beneficiaries of a petition must wait until a visa
number is available before they can take the next step to apply for an immigrant visa or adjustment of status to lawful
permanent residence. To best allocate resources, USCIS may wait to process forms 1-130 until closer to the time when a
visa number will become available, which may be years after the petition was filed. Nevertheless, USCIS processes forms
1-130 in time not to delay relatives ability to take the next step toward permanent residence once a visa number does
become available. If, before final action on the petition, you decide to withdraw your petition, your family
relationship with the beneficiary ends, or you become a U.S. citizen, call 800-375-5283.

Applications requiring biometrics- In some types of cases USd5 requires biometrics. In such cases, USd5 will send you
a SEPARATE appointment notice with a specific date, time and place for you to go to a USCIS Application Support Center
(ASC) for biometrics processing. You must WAIT for that separate appointment notice and take it (NOT this receipt
notice) to your ASC appointment along with your photo identification. Acceptable kinds of photo identification are: a
passport or national photo identification issued by your country, a drivers license, a military photo identification, or
a state-issued photo identification card. If you receive more than one ASC appointment notice, even for different
cases, take them both to te first appointment.

If your address changes- If your mailing address changes while your case is pending, call 800-375-5283 or use the
“Online Change of Address” function on our website. Otherwise, you might not receive notice of our action on this
case.

Please see the additional information on the back. You will be notified separately about any other cases you filed.

It means your K 1 Visa is Only Valid For ONE ENTRY INTO U.S. from the date of issuance. Which is possibly the date you receive your K 1 Visa. You must enter the country. After you enter into the country, you can wait up to 90 days to get married.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresJust Got NOA2 & what is the next step?
Hey Korameri:

My case was never updated on the USCIS website so no worries.

You should call the national visa center to see if your case has been received, you will be issued a Seoul Embassy case number starting w/ SEO2009 ... something...

Your case will stay at the National Visa Center (fingers crossed) for a few days... and then the National Visa Center will send it off to the Seoul Embassy.

Takes 5-6 working days for Seoul Embassy to receive your case.. Packet 3 will be sent out via email after that... basically you can schedule an interview once you receive your packet # 3 ... but my fiance and i are waiting until we have all of our paper works prepared.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Hey Preparing I-134 Would be a great idea. I started pulling together old pay stubs and preparding tax return statements... filling out the forms... as you know when you fill out the forms... you should review them and you never know if you have questions on how to answer a certain question. Wishing you a smooth journey!

hey guys! I had the same problem... I even called the USCIS and they gave the false information...

REALITY is that, CASE GOES TO NVC regardless if your NOA 2 says it will go to consulate or national visa center.... it will go to national visa center...

SO, if National Visa Center have not yet received your case, keep calling.... keep calling everyday to that 603 area code number and.... it will get there! Some people it may take up to 1 month.. not sure why, seems like National Visa Center is pretty backed up!

No when you have your case number, then you wait for packet # 3 from your embassy with specific information regarding your medical. I wouldn't go get a medical until embassy has received & input your case into their database.

So, now, you call NVC, and then you wait until you receive your packet # 3... then you follow the directions. Each embassy operates differently from here onward.

Good luck!

National Visa Center: call 603-334-0700 press 1 and then press 5 to speak to a live customer service representative. Have your receipt # ready! and DOB & Name of the beneficiary & petitioner for verifications.

Then if the case was received by NVC, the NVC will issue you a new case # that starts with the embassy that your interview will be held at.
