K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresk1 Visa
Dragon-Fish,

When i received my NOA 2 it stated that your petition is now forwarded to the listed consulate & when I called USCIS they also told me that your file was going to the embassy . NopE! They are totally wrong. k1 visa DOES go through the national visa center, although its not as closely looked at as CR1's but it basically transfers from the USCIS to the NVC and then NVC issues a local embassy case #. Then your case is then forwarded by DHL to your local embassy, In your case, I believe its the AIT.

Anyhow, i know how difficult it is with the waiting process. The true story is there is nothing you can do before the petition hits the 6 month mark.

Wish you the best =)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures2 months since noa 1, should i be worried?
I hear ya! Even when I received my NOA2, the system on USCIS website never updated the current status. So therefore, when you call the USCIS Customer Service Line, they have no clue your case was approved.

But i think everyone should stay Positive ^-^ good things do happen.

In a way, i kind of wish the medical was true so he will be forced to come to U.S. sooner -) hehehe... he's got a lot of planning & organizing to do in Korea... so, i just have to wait patiently. But i think you guys are right, Medical only applies to the interview date and not POE -)

Thanks for all the help ! blush.gif blush.gif blush.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPoint of Entry Date
What i meant was, during Point of Entry...doesn't he have to hand over his medical to the immigration officier ? that medical examination has to be current within 90 days ? I know K1 visa is valid for 6 months, he just doesnt want to go through the whole medical examination process again.

Any thoughts?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPoint of Entry Date
Well my fiance is telling me that Medical is only good for 90 DAYS!

Not valid for 1 year... is there a difference between the different countries and embassy?

I'm so confused~~~

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPoint of Entry Date
Fiance's interview is tomorrow... today we had a conversation about the point of entry date... he's still working, to give notice and quit his job he should give at least 1 month notice and use another month to organize his life in Korea for relocation purposes.

Anyhow, he's planning on coming in late late july/ early august... but i was told that he has to come in to the States before his medical examination expires ? He had his medical on 4/23... which means his POE has to be before 7/23 ?

Is that true?

What's the guideline ~? anyone know?~

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA1 Since Feb. 6th and Heard nothing ever since??
VG1, yes there were a number of VJers that applied during the same time frame likewise to myself from the CSC... we were all approved around the same period of time... it was somewhere around 30-60 days from NOA 1.

I think we just got very lucky =)

I wish you the best !

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA1 Since Feb. 6th and Heard nothing ever since??
Unfortunately there is nothing you can do until your 6 month is up. However, the bright side is, once everything gets passed through USCIS, then your next step is the NVC (which should be fairly fast for K1 Visa) and then AIT is very efficient. You usually wait less than 30 days from packet 3 - packet #4 to interview date =)
HWANG0926FemaleSouth Korea2009-06-01 15:52:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSurprisingly quick (if it happens!)
I suppose you could receive your NOA 1 , which is exactly what many VJ friends had mentioned, its just a receipt that your case has been received by the USCIS~ nothing else and now you have a receipt # to refer to your case to. As for NOA2, the actual approval, there has been cases that it was approved within 2 month.... ( i'm very thankful and lucky to have our petition approved within 30 days of NOA1 ). But that is definitely not the normal time frame. I think realistically, NOA 1 to NOA 2 takes around 3-5 month on average.

After that it goes to NVC, that could possibly take another month... then reaching it to the embassy, depending on their workload, it can drag it out for a lot longer. Fortunately for me there is not a lot of cases from S. Korea, Embassy is not backed up... therefore, it was easy to obtain an interview date. But i believe for certain countries, it can take up to 3 months for an interview date that is after submission of packet # 4.

DURING the K1 process she can come as she wish for as many times as she want. However, when she does enter the U S with her k1 Visa, she cannot leave the country until she has her adjustment of status approved.

I would say, just wait until your petition goes to NVC =) It might work out. I think all of us here, have had experience & arguments due to frustration and loneliness of not being able to be with our special someone.

Sometimes its all about seeing how strong the relationship is... whether you two are going to stuck it out...

I say, just calm down and see where this head into....

Too many unpredictable factors in a relationship... and in life...

Are you sure there is nothing you can do to work things out? Sometimes woman can be quite emotional ,especially, away from loved ones. Its difficult enough for a Long Distance relationship... and on top of that more stress that comes along with this VISA issue.

I think there are many moments that my fiance and i were frustrated with our situation, especially with our busy work schedule. We tried so hard to see eachother at least every 2 months. Which we did for the first year. We are thankful that our k1 Visa process went along so smoothly, so he's able to join me in July. But trust me... when she's upset, she might say hurtful things.

I say, give it some time and see if its going to work out?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNeed Help !!!
This happened for a number of us, except my took 15 days, i know your probably over the 1 month mark. I believe Raj & Monica, his case took over 1 month mark but don't worry, it does get there! I guess NVC is just backed up. I believe NVC is telling people that it can take up to 6 weeks to 90 days. I think just keep calling NVC the 603 area code number everyday, maybe twice a day to check up on the status.

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhats the hardest part
humm... I have to say the hardest part is BY FAR: "being away from my fiance". I mean we have both sacraficed so much to keep this relationship from the very beginning on seeing eachother every 2 months -- no matter where it is in the world, we fly ... to spend 1 week together. After we started the k1 processing, by far, its knowing that your happiness is now being controlled based on an immigration officier. I mean, USCIS. NVC or the Embassy can make your day or break your day.

Hoffy there is a timeline on South Korea application, you can see that on average it takes from 3 - 5 month between noa 1 and noa 2. The good news is, once everything passes through USCIS NOA 2 and goes through NVC... and package arrives at the Seoul Embassy... everything is super fast from there on. There is virtually NO waiting for interview dates. If you have your paper work documents ready... interview can be scheduled right away. My fiance only needed 1 day to receive his visa. Everything's super efficient.

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow to go on...
For us, we tried to see eachother every 2 month starting the beginning of our relationship. Then, it really got really costly... all the money i saved up to buy a house basically went into flight and hotels and phone bills. Thankfully, he proposed and we started our K1 visa process... we saw eachother in March again but its been 4 months since.... Its really difficult... We make it work by talking on the phone. I would purchase phone cards and he would call me on his internet phone from home.

I kept a small diary of my ups and downs of my emotions being apart from him for 4 month.. i think its something nice to reflect back to - seeing how strong our love can be-

I totally know what your going through, another reason we didn't want to see eachother until he actually moves to LA is because we don't want the sad goodbyes at airports anymore. We would both cry and then the next few days after is basically hell....

I say, start planning for the future. Planning and looking forward to the future is the motivation to be happier & hopeful.

Try calling, 202-272-8000, i can't recall if its 202-277-8000 but anyhow, speak to a higher management official to track where your case went!

anyhow, try both numbers, I write it down somewhere couldn't remember exactly what the middle 3 digits are. But anyhow, supposely it is management level, so, speak to them they should be able to tell you WHEN USCIS actually shipped out the information NVC. Then you have something to refer back to.

Just talked to USCIS, operator told me K 1 Visa does not go through National Visa Center. The approved case will be directly transfered to the Embassy Consulate.

I'm shocked !!!!!!!

So, this means, anytime fiance should be receiving his packet 3 ? Is this a new procedure ?

Because the approval notice noa 2 says NOTHING about National Visa Center....

Please fill in your time line so people can assist you. Usually Administrative Processing means they need to further investigate on the approval before they send off your case to the embassy. Are you filing for I130 or I129f ?

National Visa Center (Dept of State)NVC - Processing Center to Verify on Beneficiary ?
Following approval by USCIS, the case is then forwarded to the National Visa Center (NVC), a Department of State facility in Portsmouth, NH. It is at this point in case processing that the timelines between spouse cases and fiancée cases diverge substantially. In the case of a fiancée petition, the file is only briefly delayed at the NVC where it is assigned a local embassy file number and the file is transmitted to the Embassy for final visa processing. Conversely, Spouse and other Immediate Relative petitions are subject to substantially more processing at NVC. Please keep in mind that NVC processing essentially takes the place of the "adjustment of status" processing that occurs later in a fiancée case.

NVC Finally Received my case after 15 days, the last few days was extremely difficult and stressful. So, my question is, NVC processing center is to verify beneficiary ? or petitioner ?

Anyone know?

The operator told me, I should check back in 2 weeks to see if our case has been forward to Seoul Embassy.

I know how frustrating it can be. Our case took 15 days from notice date on our NOA2, the last few days was really really aggrevating. I basically called NVC day and night because ... they do update their case in the evening if not updated in the morning. I suppose, just keep trying until they receives the case. I also emailed NVC, and received a notice in the mail for response upon my inquiry. They are pretty good with emails. I'll scanned my NOA 2 and attached it in the email for NVC. It worked for me.
