See! I think for us, its has to be something with our cases not being updated in the system. My guess is its' still in USCIS and not mailed out yet^^ thats the reason why our status is not updated in their system^^

I'm starting to think IF NVC not receiving our case has something to do with our case not being updated on the USCIS WEBSITE...our case is still showing PENDING.... last touched 2/24/2009. Although we have received our NOA 2 notice date: 3/20/2009.

Just wondering, for those of you, NVC haven't received your case, has your online status been updated?

Its very hard to say! I was wondering if its because my case is NOT YET updated on the USCIS Website? Could that possibly be a reason so? I just received my hard copy NOA 2 but never updated online (approved status). I'm thinking there has to be a trend.

Sucks to be waiting for the approval to be sent to NVC. The process you would assume that would happen immediately!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAssembling Packet 3
I'm preparing to assemble the packet 3~

These are the following ~ anything else?? Am i missing anything?

As for I134, 2 years of tax return, is that sufficient? + recent pay stubs?

Police certificates from countries where the beneficiary has resided after the age of 16;
Medical examination of the beneficiary
Sworn affidavit of financial support (Form I-134) from the petitioner, with evidence of income and assets attached
Signed and dated letter from the petitioner addressed to the U.S. Consul, reaffirming the petitioner's intent to sponsor the beneficiary as a fiancé and to marry in the U.S. This reaffirmation letter will revalidate the I-129F if its USCIS approval is more than 4 months old;

Yes I heard its needed during the interview. Its so simple, just a few lines and print & sign. Its always better to prepare and have everything ready then not... and stress about not having something.

Hi,

Just wondering, for those of you who already went through the K1 visa interview process.

Is this sufficient?

2007 & 2008 Tax Return
2007 & 2008 W 2
Recent Pay Stubs for recent 2 months-3months.

Would I need a letter from employer ? or 2006 Tax Return?

They look at the Tax Return Documents. If the total amount exceeds 125% above poverty level, you are fine. If not, then he would need a co sponsor.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionNVC Notice - See Attachment
I realize that there is no consistency in the forms that USCIS sends out and NVC sends out. For example: for NOA2, some of us received NOA2 stating that petition forwarded to consulate... some stated on NOA2 stating that petition forwarded to NVC..... Some people never receives this notice from NVC. Some never receives any touches and updates on the USCIS website status. There is just no consistency !

But I thought it would be nice to just share all of my experience with friends on VJ.

Anyhow, i think once its on embassy level, every embassy is different. ^-^ ...

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionNVC Notice - See Attachment
For those who are curious of what this letter states, I had just scanned my copy for all of you. My case was received by NVC April 03, 2009. I receive the notice in the mail last night, April 09, 2009. I wanted to share this with all of the people on VJ.

I heard that my case was forwarded to Seoul Embassy on April 06, 2009, although, Seoul Embassy did not receive it yet, it should arrive sometimes next week.

For those of you applying K1 Visa through Seoul Embassy, Packet # 3 will be sent through email. Nothing will be mailed... DS 230 Forms should be filled out and faxed back or sent back via mail. Then you schedule an interview date & before the interview date, make sure everything is completed.

I called the Seoul Embassy yesterday, they are very friendly and helpful.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionQuestion About Visa Interview
OF COURSE! I think asking those questions is just to PICK YOUR brain and pretend like they are doing their job. But i do feel that we should have all of our documents required ready as well. Thats the key. As for whether the consulate officer will approve or deny your case, he/she probably have already determined before your arrival for your k1/k3 visa.

If you had filed for I-130, I-485, I-131, and I-765 for an ex-spouse, but he was on a student visa at the time of marriage - do you answer YES to #10? Would you state Yes, although, its not a VISA you were applying for, but rather an adjustment of status ?

Anyone know? Have similar experience? I'm confused on what I should put on the I134 Form.

While getting his medical today, fiance also received 3 different types of vaccine. I was told woman usually get 5 vaccines before entering into the States. Its highly recommended to get the vaccines when medical is performed. Not sure why~ perhaps, its more costly to have it done in the states?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionSeoul Embassy Information
Hi,

I'm sure only few of friends on VJ is going through the Seoul Embassy, I have to say when things arrive in Korea they sure more quickly. I called the embassy twice from the date our NVC packet was mailed-- the customer service representative have 2 sets of computer informations. Once NVC sends a file, they automatically receives a notice of which file is coming. Although your packet has not yet arrived at the embassy they will tell you approximately when the file will arrive. I called last week, the customer service rep told me it should arrive sometimes next week. So, I called yesterday and sure she found our case. She told me, oh its right here we receive it. But we haven't opened it . She did tell me that they do not mail any packet 3's; therefore, i should provide her with my fiance's email address. Which I did, I gave her 2 in case one didn't go through. She told me ok I send the packet # latest by tomorrow afternoon. Her attitude was I would say 100 times better than people at NVC and USCIS.

Anyhow I wanted to update all of the korean petitioner on VJ... do take advantage of their customer service representative line..... dial between the hours of 2-3:30PM Korea Time, For me, it was 10:00 PM -11:30 PM (PST). The number is 011-8223974114 (this is how you dial directly) Ask for Immigration Visa, and girl will transfer you into another automated system, press 2 for english... and listen for the instructions. In the end press 9 to speak to customer service representative. Its kind of a long automated system, but its worth the wait!

Anyhow, if any friends on VJ has any questions, please let me know.

Sean / Yan, you have 1 year time frame. on Packet # 3 its listed as Valid for 1 Year of receiving date. I'm applying via Seoul Embassy it may be different! But YES you can control your interview date! At least for Seoul Embassy interview is booked online and you can select which week is preferred. Although its not guaranteed but they do try to schedule you for that week.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHi And Some Light Pls
Hey DEandKJ,

I totally understand what you are going through - but I have to say I have been very fortunate to have our case approved in 31 days from receiving of the NOA1. Basically this is what you would expect to happen next.

Now... you wait... until your fiance in USA receives NOA2 either via Email & in the Mail.

Then... you wait again... you can start calling the NVC (National Visa Center) to see whether your case has been received or not, then your case will be given a South Africa Embassy Case #.

Then.... you wait again for a few days... until NVC sends out the approved petition to the South Africa Embassy. Usually you would receive a letter from NVC stating that your petition has been sent to the destination embassy.

Now .... takes 5-6 working days for your package to arrive at the Embassy. Then Packet # 3 is sent out. This is where you need to prepare ... such as medical, police clearance report, I134.. etc...

Then, once packet # 3 is completed, you are given the right to schedule an interview date. That is Packet # 4. Packet # 4 usually states what you should bring with you to the interview.

So. this is basically the entire process. Some Feb California Service Center fliers were very fortunate to have our case approved... i remember there were a thread of us that were real surprised to be approved within 30 days or so.

But anyhow, never know whats going to happen. The usual time frame i would estimate is 3-4 month from time of receiving NOA1.

Good luck!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMedical - Seoul Embassy
Hi Kims,

No APPT was neccessary - things move REAL fast in Seoul. My fiance walked in at 9 AM was finished by 940 AM. No waits... parking validated!

Same day pick up too 5 PM.... Applicant brings passport and once passport number is entered, Korean Hospitals have a shared database with embassy. It's connected and therefore the case # would pop up right away in their system.

Hey moonhut! I wish i can.. but because of our long distance love ~ i have used every single SICK DAY and VACATION DAY i have ~ and in addition to that for the past year.... we have managed to see eachother every 2 months! its extremely difficult... sometimes we would fly to a different country and meet there for a weekend get away! Can you imagine the COST? In addition to the phone cards and long distance relationship... cost... i think since we are going to be together forever ~ i'm going to conserve and just start decorating our small home when he arrives ~ =) ....

I think he should be fine.. He speaks almost perfect english and he's been to the states for over 7-8 times. And he has an awesome job back in Seoul.... there shouldn't be any reason he would want to give up his life ~ if it wasn't for love!

So.... i wish i could...

I think the most common K 1 Interview Questions are:

- Where, When & How did you met ?
- Why do you two decide to get married?
- How many times have you two seen eachother since your first meeting?
- When do you plan to get married?
- What does your fiancee/fiance do for a living?
