Foreign degree authentication sucks if anyone ever has to go through this. We're working on certified translations of his Syrian transcripts and Diploma right now, and overall I think the whole thing is going to cost like $400. Sucks, too, that it's only good for 3 years!

It depends on what he is planning to try for when he comes. If he is going to go to a University to get a degree or attend classes, he's going to need official transcripts from every single college/university he has ever attended, and they cannot be handled by him... sent to the University here in English (which may require a certified translation to accompany it). They can be sealed and he just take them with him. If he is going into graduate school, he MAY have to have his degree quthenticated if it is not from a well-known place and that would depend on the university. If he is going to apply to teach at a college or university, he will HAVE to have this authentication of all of his degrees which he is using (so undergraduate and graduate) in order to show qualification. So like Ammar taught physical anthropology before he came here and now we're looking at similar jobs-- teaching at the college level. You have to have your degrees authenticated and certified in order to meet minimum qualification because having graduate degrees (and the associated undergraduate) is a requirement of the position. So yes, if Jack if going to attend college/grad school here or if he is going to be an instructor at the college level (and probably high school/middle/secondary) or any kind of professional whose job depends on their degrees for certification/licensing/qualification (so medical/social/etc) he will eventually have to have this done. It's not hard, it's just time consuming and momre money than you'll want to pay at the time

My office got the industrial one and I just love it. I do not drink coffee but I do like tea, so now I can have my tea in the morning. I loved it so much that I got the B60 on sale at Macy's a few months back. Like you I can not afford a new car but I bought myself this little luxury item and I have to tell ya sistah, I really enjoy it! Treat yourself, you deserve it.

I keep telling my hubby I'm about ready to move somewhere for the winter. I hate the cold and I can't imagine how my husband feels since he's not used to this cold weather. It's 14 degrees outside! BRRRR!!!! When is spring?

Come on girl! It was 70 degrees yesterday and beautiful. It gets a little chilly at night but the lights and decorations were so beautiful. My friends and I took one of the tours at DLand, the Holiday tour, and it was fun. At the end we got hot cocoa, in a travle mug to keep, and a cookie and real reserved seats to see their Christmas parade. We also got right on the haunted mansion ride which is deocrated right now with the Nightmare before Christmas theme and the It's a Small World ride, which has been changed inside for Christmas.

It's actually a relief to me that the embassy is closed now since I don't have to have that feeling of disappointment each day since I don't expect anything, you know what I mean? It's like we get a nice little vacation from the daily let down that happens each time we don't get "the call".

Our 1st year anniversary is Dec 28 and although it would be nice to hear something at all by then I sincerely doubt it will happen. To be honest I"m starting to not be able to visualize him here at all. Maybe when I finally lose all hope it will happen. Who knows. I give up. Wavin' the white flag.

No home visits have occurred whatsoever and even if they do one it'll be pointless since he doesn't have any parents to be asking questions to. He's passed the security checks at DOS and there's nothing I can do but watch it collect dust on a desk somewhere in Cairo. Our future is just on permanent hold for now so I have no choice but to keep on keepin' on like I never met him.

This type of incident makes you think if you can really share with others, in private or on the boards, without it being spread all over or thrown back in your face. Why the judgemenet? We all have issues we deal with on a daily basis and unless you are without, which no one I know is, then stop the maddness.
