IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCase Completed!!!
I'm hoping I am not making a bad decision... well, more so a forced decision..I won't be able to be in Frankfurt, Germany for my spouse's interview. The flights are just too expensive at this time. I have tried adjusting dates/times and what not, but the cheapest I can find is still $1300-$1400 (with taxes). I am planning on sending my husband the copies of our paperwork that I was orginally going to bring: The I-130, G-325A, I-864 and the DS-230. I also have another I-864 if a joint sponsor is indeed needed. In addition that that, I am also sending along our photoalbum, plane tickets, greeting cards, phone calls and emails.

I hope that's good enough. Can anyone recommend anything else? I think I have all grounds covered. Of course, I know already to bring the interview invitation, passport and medical exam results. Am I forgetting anything else important that will help our case even though I can't attend his interview?

Thanks. good.gif

Just spoke to an NVC operator and she told me that because my husband's surgery is taking place in Germany, that there is no reason to expedite the interview. Had the surgery been in the USA, then that would have been a different story. At this point, she says they are scheduling interview for August (so that's good), but she said to give a call back next Friday to see when out interview date is. Hmm... informational, but not much help. I am wondering if I should give it a try in a couple days to see if this information is in fact correct. Seems correct, there would be no legitmate reason to expedite the interview because the surgery is in Germany... but I am going to be there for the surgery and the interview. If I could get everything done in one trip, then it would be perfect. I can't afford to miss work that much and I can't afford two plane tickets.... whistling.gif

good luck przy ! To get operator, 7:30AM is the best or late evenings.

I have 3000 minutes on my cell phone that never get used (until now) and I just got off work. I am going to be bored on VJ and attempt to get a hold of the operator. Plenty of free time.

Oh, another thing, do you think they are going to want proof that he will be operated on?

2 weeks for case forward to the Consulate. And another 1 to 2 months to complete interview depends on the consulate. I took an average 1.5 months for consulate interview after case forward, that's all !

I have tried adjusting dates/times and what not, but the cheapest I can find is still $1300-$1400 (with taxes). Hi Przy do you have chat logs if you chat online with him like from Yahoo Messenger you can save all the chats then print them:-) Also practice with him questions they might ask about you or both of you.

Got those too. Not much with chat logs as we are usually on for a second and then go to skype to chat for a couple hours. Got the question part nailed. I used Loto's (PatiencePaidOff) template for the questions and sent them to my hubby. Thanks very much! rose.gif

Hi Przy, firstly I don't think it is a bad decision. USC attending the interview is more for emotional support and things will be fine don't worry. Just remember to tell your husband everything about you, like where you work, your siblings, family etc etc etc.. if you have missed any until now smile.gif. And who is who in the wedding pictures... We decided on the same, that my husband won't travel to India during my interview so that he can take that vacation during my first few days in US, so that he would spend time with me and help me get used things around. All the best, stay cool and prepare for his arrival in the US smile.gif

Thanks a lot neethope. smile.gif I think my husband knows everything there is to know about me... so I am sure we will do fine. He might get the ages of my siblings mixed up... I have 6 brothers and 2 sisters. Oh well, he'll do fine. rose.gif Thanks again.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPacket 3 or Packet 4 ..Appointment Letter???
Hi everyone,

I received a packet of information from the NVC yesterday. I see on our VJ timelines packet 3, packet 3 completed and packet 4 (complete instuctions). What exactly is packet 3 and what is there to complete? The packet I received consists of 5pages. The first page explains how to prepare for the interview, the interview date/time and location. Then it mentions police certificates. The second page explains interview reminders and that now all contact regarding this case should be made with the consulate in Frankfurt. The third page mentions J1 visa and applicants who will 21 before their interview. The fourth page explains vaccination requirements. The fifth and final page is a note to visa applicants.

My question: Is this packet 3 or packet 4? In addition to that, on the VJ timeline it also lists "appointment letter received." Is this that? Or will I receive another form regarding the interview invitation? Lastly, what form will my husband have to bring to his medical exam and to his interview.

Thanks,

Przy

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof of being unmarried
That's horrible, but I know that situation myself. I am an American citizen and was visiting my husband in Germany. We married there, but that took about 2 months before I was even allowed to. I, too, was told I needed a certificate saying that I was single and able to marry. In order to get that, my husband and I drove from Bremen to Berlin (about 4 hours away) to the US Consulate. I got there extra early, gave my oath that I was single, signed, gave up 23EUR and I was out. The whole process to about 10 minutes and costed over 200EUR (rental car and gas) for the piece of paper.

I believe he could obtain the document at the Consulate in Mexico. I got mine at the US Consulate in Berlin, Germany). Give it a try, unless he's already back in the States.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCR1 interview in 11 days
QUOTE (BulgarianBride @ Aug 5 2008, 02:05 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi!! My husband and I (I'm the USC) just returned from our interview today, with an approval. While I know each consulate can have completely different methods (for example, Bulgaria has a document required by no other country - and no mention of this document is made anywhere, including in the official checklist the NVC sent, but that's another story....) the one thing that made our interview easy was the PHOTOS. I know a lot of folks have said they didn't even get to show their photos, but that's *all* they looked at in our case. The CO actually said to us: "I have seen your photos, so I know your whole story," and complimented me on the labels on each photo and didn't really ask any questions...

So it seems like you are in great shape in terms of documentation. The only thing I could add is to put together a selection of photos so the interviewer can quickly see that you are for real.

For my case, I pulled out 40 photos that spanned our time together, each one chosen to illustrate a specific trip, to include other people, or to illustrate an activity that we have in common. I labeled each with a small post-it on the front with date and place and put them in chronological order in simple plastic photo sleeves, like the kind you would put in a 3-ring binder. I actually did it because I knew our interview would be through a glass window and the whole stack of photos was too thick to pass through the slot!! Oh, but we also brought the giant stack of extras if they wanted to see more, including all the wedding photos (I included 8 in the displayed photos).

If you have photos of her with your family, emphasize those - the photos they specifically asked me to see were of my husband with my mother.

My husband and I were terrified of the interview and for weeks before were incessantly practicing interview questions. We realized today that we learned all kinds of additional obscure things about each other, so there is one good outcome of this process! Also he was worried about his English, so the repetition helped him to gather his thoughts and not volunteer too much information.

Check out the wiki, it has many more interview questions there and that's what we used as a guide: http://www.visajourn...rview_Questions

So best of luck to your wife!

/bb

Congrats on your approval. I did the same things as far as the photo album is concerned. My story actually started off with me going to Germany with my maiden name and then at the end, married and with my husband's name. We had vacations in between. Birthdays and what not. I worked really hard with the album to try and depict how true our relationship is and how much we love each other. Again though, many congrats to your approval!!

The form was generated before we sent them, but it doesn't look like like the one online... unsure.gif

I understand it looks different... Put it this way, you will know in a couple days if there was a problem. I don't propose that a problem will arise because all of the correct information is listed on the form. Really, the one from NVC is just as simple as the JAmes's Shortcut one. The little message that the sheet needs to be included in the packet. The beneficary, the barcode and the CR1 or IR1 part (depending on the case). Did you write your case number on the top of all the DS-230 forms just in case something gets lost? It isn't mandatory, but it's a good idea. Anyway though, you should be fine and if there is really something wrong... you will know in a couple days. Depending on which service you sent the paperwork out with, it should arrive either the next day, or within 3 days. They usually enter the information within the 3rd day of receiving the packet and case usually completes a week or two after that. Good luck.

...and put it this way - there is nothing you can do about the form now -- so don't stress yourself out. The worst you will have to do is resend the correct form (which I don't think you will have to). Just relax. smile.gif rose.gif

Honestly, as long as the form was generated by the NVC before you sent this out and you have the barcode and correct address and information - it should be ok. It looks good to me.
