K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2...now what? lol
Ok so now we get sent on to the NVC...How do we know it's been received? Do they email us or is there a number we call (errr...the one at the bottom of the approved email??) after a certain amount of time?

We just got our NOA2 emails so I know I probably won't start checking things till November (when I'm back in the states)....

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2
I just noticed that the NOA2 had dates 10/17/06 till 02/17/06 as it's validity. Does that mean that we may have our interview by Feb 17? What happens if that date passes before the interview happens?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMarriage before K1 visa approval!
I am not sure, but if you want to get married before the visa you need to apply for a K3 visa not a K1.

IMBRA Special TopicsWhich Sites fall under IMBRA???
Filling out the I=129F using the new form. But! Is the site where I met my fiance fall under the marriage broker? It's a UK Dating and Friendship site. You can pay extra to get different services but it's free technically. And you are not paying to get matched...You just pay to get chat, message boards and such. Does this fall under the new Question 19 as yes??
The site is www.makefriendsonline.com
HELLPPPP!!!
BlueRain77FemaleEngland2006-06-19 12:25:00
IMBRA Special TopicsWill it hurt to say "yes" to marraige broker?
I said No to ImBRa though we did meet on a website. But it said that IMBRA was stated as paying to meet someone on the internet for marriage.
The website I met my boyfriend on is for Friends and Dating. Most people don't even get married off the site. So I just told them the website and but I stated No for Marriage Broker. I figured if they think it's a marriage broker they can ask for more info..But I don't think it is at all.

BTW it was called www.makefriendsonline.com (MFO)

IMBRA Special TopicsIs an online dating site considered a marriage broker?
Let us know what the outcome is.

My fiance and I met on a UK based Friend/dating site and are wondering the same thing. They are not primarily used for US but they allow us in. They also charge but do not charge less for either side. In fact, they even have different opening screens and Message boards and such. The US can access them but UK can't. However they have a meets manager for having parties in the UK, but no other country can access it. They make it rather difficult for US to meet UK unless in a profile search and email or chatrooms or if the US people come into the UK message boards...

IMBRA Special TopicsIs this in IMB?
.....and yes, I meant AN IMB...not In... oh dear... brain fart (hey, it's Midnight here in England!) lol

IMBRA Special TopicsIs this in IMB?
Ok so finally got my RFE in the mail to find out it is the IMBRA form. Easy peasy...however...

I DID meet my fiance online, but I personally don't think the site counts as a IMB. What do you think?

www.makefriendsonline.com

It's a UK based site. They have different main screens for UK and USA. You do pay to use the site ONLY if you want to use the chat and email. They are mainly UK and Ireland, however they do have US and other international users. You can be single or married. It is a Friend and Dating site. The UK and Ireland people have access to a Meets Manager where they can arrange parties and such. All other users outside that are can NOT access it. It's basically used for communication, but is not a meet people online to get married site.

Take a look at it and see what you think.

Should I say Yes or No (what I think) to the first question? Is this counted as an IMB?

Thanks!

Oh dear..just read other posts....looks like this is the debate of the decade!! I am thinking of putting No, but with a side supplement stating to the best of my knowledge it is not, but again, that we did meet online and give the site address. It is a UK site, that invites foreign friends basically...

also found this..(yes, I JUST found this)

Exceptions:
(ii) an entity that provides dating services if its principal business is not to provide international dating services between United States citizens or United States residents and foreign nationals and it charges comparable rates and offers comparable services to all individuals it serves regardless of the individual's gender or country of citizenship.

IMBRA Special TopicsIMBRA Issues
Now I am seeing that if the websites are not compliant with the IMBRA we can get rejected. It looks like this puts things on hold even if they are because they have to contact the site to talk to them.

I guess I am not understanding IMBRA at all now. And WHERE can I find the law written out in its entirety as I can not find it on a search engine nor on the USCIS site. It's like they are hiding or something.

I am quite irritated with this as I DO NOT think the site we met on is an MB however it has been pointed to both YES and No...so confused as what to answer....
BlueRain77FemaleEngland2006-09-27 04:38:00
USCIS Service CentersAre you pissed off at USCIS?
Don't give up. Regardless of how many times people have tried and perhaps failed, maybe today is our day. Never give up! Find someone who has been reporting specifically on the immigration topic and start with them. It never hurts to try....

United KingdomUk Food

I have a strange question to ask, not exactly about food, but food related. Has anyone seen stores over here that sell egg cups? I've been looking for some for a while, to no avail. Just wondering if anyone else had found any.

Oh yeah! I've seen them mainly in specialty stores, like World Market or English Stores that have ceramics. I always call them Egg biers (thank you German class!). You can probably also find them online.

Don't know if there is a thread for this yet, but just thought I would get the ball rolling so we can share where we can get our favourite Brit supplies for ourselves or our partners.

Im in Washington and found that you can get a great list of places on the Seattle UK Embassy website.
First there is Anglomania in Issaquah, and 2nd in Redmond is The British Pantry. Also found a restaurant & Pub in Snohomish!

Cmon and share! Make sure you name your State first so we can see where you are at.

United KingdomTravelling as "fiancee"
Hey guys, sorry if this is the wrong section. I was trying to find the best place to put this...maybe the consulate section. I dunno.

So here is my question: When travelling to your fiance/e's country (non-us) and passing through immigration and customs to visit, is it okay to state that I am coming to (insert country...ie UK for me) to visit my Fiance/e before he immigrates to the US (show them proof of filing for fiance visa). Or even, I am coming to attend my fiance's visa interview at the US consulate so that he can immigrate to the US?

Anyone have any experiences with this? So many people have brought up this in regards to before applying for a visa but what if I have proof to show them (USCIS letters) that we have wedding plans in the US and will not sneak off and get married there?

Thanks!

United KingdomPolice Records
Ok so if the Police Report comes back clear then there are no recorded arrests and therefore he has no record? (by the way, it was for a drunk & disorderly...something that seems to be common in a lot of younger people by the look of the cop shows here in England. lol)
BlueRain77FemaleEngland2006-10-10 06:08:00
United KingdomPolice Records
I've seen a few people on here that have received Police Certificates for an records a person may have. What if a person received one that has no record but they know they have been arrested, AND it is really close to the 11 year mark where everything gets wiped?

The plan is to answer yes to being arrested but show the certificate says nothing.
What happens when you enter the US for the first time? Is it going to have to be answered again or is the K-1 Visa going to suffice at the border since the US and Consulate already okayed everything.

United KingdomJust got our packet 4
hmmm...called again and got through, but all they were able to tell me is our case was still waiting to receive our interview date. pjc called the embassy again too and they had nothing new. We are afraid they have lost it or something and just won't tell us. We are quite frustrated and worried. I know that we are just waiting in line somewhere, but the question is, does the embassy know where our line is???

Next monday will be our 6 week mark so pjc is going to call again...hopefully calmly....lol

For their sakes I hope we get our interview before Monday. (I will call DC again Friday to see if there is anything)

Is there no hold on that phone number? I got a message saying everyone was unavailable helping other people and to call back....I will call again later.

Also, didn't there used to be a place on the Travel.state.gov site that allowed you to plug in your case number and check your status?

Haven't lost a package but I sent two cards earlier this month and they have yet to arrive in England....very frustrated...

Ok, also, anyone know when they deliver the passport and the mysterious Packet. What do you do? Is it written clear, DO NOT OPEN THIS. Is there like two packages where you open the main one and have the passport & the Do Not Open package?
BlueRain77FemaleEngland2007-01-25 23:26:00
United KingdomPacket 4!!! yay!
oooh chloe! Our interview is the day before yours! Feb 8! I arrive in the UK on the 11th, of course! (already had booked my flight) Good thing I fly in on a Sunday as Pjc will have to wait at his flat on Saturday just in case his Visaed Passport arrives...also we can't plan anything for Valentines as we don't know how long it will take for the passport & packet to arrive. I think he is going to request (and pay extra) for an earlier delivery time so we don't have to wait all day.
There is a site somewhere. If anyone wants to know more, send a message to PJC1973. He sent me site links earlier.

cool. lol I actually got my dress back during the summer before we were ever officially engaged. Got the rings in November. Got my daughters dress. My mom's found a caterer who also does cakes, and my mom's friend is a photographer. Just need someone to marry us! lol...oh and a date!

Oooh found a really cool place here in Washington that does Christmas crackers & will do wedding themed crackers as well. They will put the basics and you can add stuff. We thought that would be fun for our favours. Im soooo excited!!

Wondering if I can just talk Pjc into coming back with me on Feb 24! lol

lol I just noticed the Cakes post! I think I would be sick. We are getting married at my parent's house (its on a hill near a beautiful lake). Very small. Still haven't thought about what to serve or cake or the date as we are still unsure of when he is coming over. We may wait a little while, we may not...kinda up in the air.

Pjc still hasn't gotten his packet yet either. Hopefully tomorrow or Saturday (it was supposedly sent yesterday too).

Congratulations!!

Pete got his hotel today for the interview. :) He's going to go to London then come back to get me on Saturday night (for Sunday morning). He doesn't want to miss the courier if they come Fri or Sat. I guess you can't schedule but you can pay extra to have the paperwork delivered before a certain time of the day... instead of waiting between 9 & 5 all day at the flat. We are hoping he gets it delivered Saturday so that we don't have to go back to his flat and we can just stay in London for Valentines. If not, then I guess we will just spend the 2nd week I am there away. I SOOOO LOVE London! (I think its mainly the memories, as I doubt I would enjoy it as much without Pete with me). :luv:
