PhilippinesInter-Cultural Marriages and effect on Children

You are looking specifically for "Inter-What" Relationships/Marriages?

Inter-Racial, Inter-Cultural, Inter-Class/Cast...

There are a lot of ways to read your request. FWIW, Inter-Racial & Inter-Cultural are not the same thing even though they often times exist side-by-side.

Bob, I am looking for inter-cultural marriage effect on children. Sorry for not being specific.

I'd like to ask the mods to please edit the title. Thanks.

PhilippinesInter-Cultural Marriages and effect on Children

Not that I have a child (nor does my fiancé)... but I assume that the relationship has benefits for the child as well... your questions seemed 'negative'. And I don't mean that in a bad way, I just mean, does the marriage open their eyes (so to speak). A lot of discussions here mention age gaps, different religions, different races, etc. Possibly you could mention that, in addition to so many negatives (that certain individuals might notice), there are also positives (lbeing bi-lingual, expanding ones taste in foods, presenting the possibility of different religions).

Again, not that I know what you've wrote or intend to write, but I would include both sides to everything... child struggling to communicate - learning the language (on own or by/with spouse) - result: better communication with spouse as well as development of friends at school/wherever due to new language.

I am however, of no assistance as to actually answering your questions, due to my lack of children. Lol. Sorry. :-/

Thank you. Didn't mean to be negative..That's what I intend to present, both negative and positive effects of having 2 different-cultured parents.

PhilippinesInter-Cultural Marriages and effect on Children
Hi guys. I am writing about Inter-marriages and its affect on children for my Psychology class. I need to write a 7-10 page paper and I think I'm running out of ideas :crying:. Do you have anything to share like, how do kids handle differences in language, religion, food etc? Who has more authority or who do they go to when something bothers them? How does friends and relatives of each side affect them? Do they think they're "different"?
Thank you in advance. :)

PhilippinesI need help I'm new to all of this of course ;)

In my case my fiancee was working in Dubai. We just went to Phil. to meet for the first time. 8 days is very quick. Nice job.

Where is she working in Dubai? I worked and lived in Dubai for 4 years (2003-2007) and worked in Terminal 1.

PhilippinesI need help I'm new to all of this of course ;)

I wanted to do the same, to get married in 10 days. After I researched I found out it is not an easy task. We took the K1 train.

We married 8 days after my husband came to Manila. It would have been sooner if he didn't come on Friday night. We (actually, I) started the marriage license application before he came. It's not "not an easy task" as long as you know what you're doing and you have all the requirements needed to get the task done.

PhilippinesRequirements for CFO not mentioned on CFO web site

Yes, they sure do.

PRISM asked for my husband's Legal Capacity to Marry. And later asked for his college diploma when they didn't get what they wanted. WTH?! :o :jest: I asked the lady; what's the diploma has to do with this? :o

I won't be surprised if the question "How many raccoon does your husband's neighbor have?" came up. ;)

IMO, CFO counselors are asking irrelevant questions and asking for irrelevant docs. To simply power trip the applicant.

Ridiculous!! They're more strict than CO's. I wonder what they would need from me when I go there for my daughter's sticker.

PhilippinesWrong middle name. Is RFE on its way already?
In the US, the middle name is the 2nd of the 1st name, not like in Philippines, 2nd name is Mother's name so you're good.

I meant middle name in the Phils.

Hi mommies! can i join? biggrin.gif i am not pregnant but i was last year and i really enjoyed the whole pregnancy journey..i did not have a sensitive pregnancy, no vomitting, didn't have morning (or evening) sickness, not sensitive to smell, didn't even crave for a particular food but i ate a lot..like every 2 hours i was hungry..everything was same except for my growing belly and the feel of my daughter's moves and kicks. I used to sleep during the day and watched tv during night (from 10pm to around 4 am..strange) and on my 4th month, i started to have leg pain/cramps and that's what i hated as i can't walk properly..but it was fun and exciting waiting new addition to family. goodluck evelyn and to all the future moms..

Maybe you should start a new topic for your concern coz my situation is totally different from yours.
But to answer your question, yes it will matter coz you need proof of relationship between you and your mother and that's one of the documents (BC) you need to present.

First, for those of you who did an advance medical, what did you show? DS3032, AOS or IV bill with NVC case number? I already mailed out AOS and IV documents and I am sending my daughter for advance medical without an appointment letter. PhilippinesMy wife was an OFW in Korea, police clearance issue
QUOTE (marriedtomrg @ Oct 17 2009, 02:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I believe you can do the same if you resided in Singapore for 6 months or more and are no longer a resident there. One of my clients was a Toyota mechanic who worked there several years back and he got his police clearance via the Singapore Embassy here in Manila.

Typically if you have lived anywhere in the Middle East countries or even in UAE, it is difficult to get police clearances there when you are no longer living there. Never known anyone to try to get a police clearance through their Embassies in the Philippines, though...perhaps someone out there has that experience also?

Hope this is helpful.

I applied for Good Moral Conduct from Dubai, UAE (lived there for 5 years) 14 months after I left that country. I just called the UAE embassy here and inquired. They advised me to go to NBI Taft for my fingerprints then it was authenticated by DFA (red ribbon) and attested by UAE embassy then I sent it to my friend in Dubai and she was the one who forwarded my documents to Dubai police headquaters. After 8 days, my good moral certificate was released.

I just don't know if same procedure applies to Korea.

PhilippinesIs her Philippine degree worthless in the U.S???

Pretty much. However, she can have her course work evaluated by the school she wishes to attend here in the US, and have that apply toward a degree her once she meets the residency requirements of that particular school. If she decides to have her degree evaluated by an accreditation service, make sure the service is one that will be generally accepted, or at least will be accepted by whatever firm she wishes to apply to.

My wife has both a law degree from the University of Manila and a business management degree from Centro Escolar University. So far, they say, "impressive", but neither degree helped her get a job in either field.

Agree. My transcript was evaluated by my current school and applied some of my credits (mostly Math and English) from my HRM degree to my current degree which is Marketing. Instead of 4, I'll be done in 2 years and if I continue on taking 12-15 credits every semester (even without taking summer classes), I will graduate in Fall 2013. :)

PhilippinesGreen card's validity question

Honestly, if there is someone to receive your mail while you are gone, I would go ahead and file AOS before you leave. If your receive your biometrics appt before you return, you can request to change your appointment.

That way you would be covered if something happened and you wound up staying past the expiration date of your card, i.e. illness of you or family member, disaster, or other unforeseen circumstances.

If you are out of the US after your card expires, you could be in for some problems coming back.

Thank you. I think I will just have my hubby mail my application to remove conditions before he leave to Manila in December.

PhilippinesGreen card's validity question

Should not be a problem... But, question... Did you file for AOS? When we did a few months back we received a letter
stating the GC validity was extended one year.

Regards,

Thank you for responding. I am supposed to file I-751 to remove my conditions. Actually, I can file now but the problem is my schedule. I don't want to send my documents and then when they schedule me for biometrics, I won't be here and still in Manila that's why I plan to mail my application when I get back in January since I am still within the 90-day period.

Philippinesus immigrant visa interview
My 3-yr old daughter is scheduled for interview on October 20. Since I cannot attend her interview, I went to D.C. to get a notarized/red ribboned authorization letter for my sister to accompany my daughter. Her step-father filed the petition and USCIS put her under IR-2 category. I am also anxious about the possible questions they might ask her or maybe my sister(?). I submitted all the documents including our marriage certificate and will ask my sister to bring some photos of my daughter and husband during his visit in 2009. Since hers is ahead of you, I will post how the interview go.

I need to know if it's possible to obtain or get my police clearance for US Visa application if i had some cc defaulted issues in the UAE? kindly enlighten me. I don't want to encounter any problem in the near future.

Hope someone can give his/her insights and info about this matter. thanks in advance. God Bless

If the bank never filed a police report against you, then I think you're good. If they did, remember you submitted your visa and passport copies when you applied for a credit card? That's the same documents the banks would have submitted to the police department and when you apply for a police clearance, old and new passports with UAE visa on it are required.

PhilippinesPolice Clearance / Certificate
Do you know someone in Dubai who can apply Police Clearance on your behalf? I had a friend who applied for me when I requested it. Because if you don't have anyone to do it for you, I think you will have to request online. It will take time and more expensive.

Anyways, please go to NBI Taft, Manila for fingerprinting with 2x2 photo and a valid I.D. They will ask you to complete the form with complete details (no abbreviations) and take your fingerprints. Then, they will give you claim stub as to when the document can be picked-up. Please take note that you won't have to pay there. The NBI will forward the document to Department of Foreign Affairs for authentication..that's where you will show the claim stub and pay Php 100.00 and again a valid i.d. before they release it. After DFA, you need to go to any DHL counter (local shipment) to send the authenticated document to UAE Embassy Manila and pay around Php 1,800.00. It will take a week before you receive the attested document (from UAE Embassy) with UAE stamp and arabic signature. Once you have it, it is up to you which shipping company you want to use (DHL or Fedex) to deliver your documents to Dubai.

REQUIREMENTS:

--authenticated/attested fingerprints (from DFA/UAE embassy with red ribbon)
-- 4 pcs passport sized photos
--authorization letter for the person who will apply on your behalf
--photocopy of valid passport
--photocopy of passport with UAE visa and cancellation page
--application form (can be downloaded from dubaipolice.gov.ae)
--Dhs 115.00 processing fee

Please make sure to write (on authorization letter and application form) that the purpose for applying PCC is for USA visa application. What I did was, I sent 2 copies each of those documents. I also downloaded the application form and signed it because I just wanted my friend to submit everything, not do the forms and the typing center is far from the police headquarters. BTW, they won't accept handwritten forms, they will ask the person to typewritten it. And since you're outside Dubai, your application will only be processed in the headquarters which is located in Al Qusais. Mine took 8 days and my friend just sent it to me thru DHL.
Goodluck girl.

Philippinestravel questions

I think you can go back for short lengths of time (6 months or so), and it should be no problem. Last summer, upon returning from a nearly 6-week vacation in Philippines, my wife received a stamp in her passport with a notation below that said "1 month." USCIS just subtracts the time you were gone from the time accumulated toward citizenship.

Somebody who knows all the details for certain might want to comment.

Interesting. I just came back from Manila (November 13- January 8) and there was no stamp on my passport upon return that states how long I've been gone.

PhilippinesSchool Documents?

Me and my Fiance discuss about my college when i get to states but the problem is i don't know what docs do i need to bring there?
I'm not a college graduate but i had previous years in college of the following program.

4 years of Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communication Engineering ( ECE )
2 years of Information Technology (IT)

What docs they required? Can i enroll once i received my GC if ever ? Or i need to wait until my citizenship changed to permanent residence before i can enroll to college.

I'm really confused , i have all the docs when i was still in high school like diploma , good moral etc but i don't know if my college transcript will be used there? I have two transcript of record since i went to two different schools. I really need an answer for this one so i will know what docs do i need to bring to states when i leave :) thank you so much!

You can apply/ enroll even if you're LPR. You will have to enter your Alien number in your application. You should start looking up and visiting the school websites now to give you an idea what requirements they would need from you. In my school (Univ. of MN), they didn't honor my Transcript because they required me to have my college in Philippines to send it to them with certification that the classes were taught in English. They evaluated my TOR and gave me credits for English and Math subjects. I am sure, some of your subjects will be credited but all of them (whether it's related to your future major or not) will be counted against your maximum timeframe (number of credits attempted) which will affect your eligibility for financial aid if you plan to apply.
