Thanks. I am the USC. I tried a Congressional Inquiry right after the interview, but I think it was too early. I am considering involving one of my Senators. They said that we didn't have enough evidence of a bona fide relationship, even though we had pictures, letters, tickets and other materials from where we met, etc. We even sent them 4 letters after they gave my fiance the 221(g) letter in December....still nothing...

To still be in AP for that long is not too strange coming from India/Pakistan/Bangladesh. I have seen this trend becoming more and more prevalent. I mean, look at us, over 5 months of AP and we were missing no documents, and received no slip after the interview. Just told that the CO believed our case was legit and that he thought our intentions for migrating to USA were for the best. He said that people here in South Florida dont really speak Punjabi.. haha.. so my husband said "Its ok, I speak English and Urdu too." anyhow. dont fret the time period you have been waiting. Unfortunately, some people have been in AP for more than a year, but it is usually very rare. I think you will be just fine. remember, no news is good news. My senator's liason told me after 3 and a half months of AP that I should be glad it's taking so long because that means they are checking everything completely and thoroughly so there wont be any delays later. So... good luck with your case and I am sure eventually you will hear something. take care.

First off, eid mubarak to all. Hope everyone had a good eid and a good thanksgiving. So my fiancée was making her medical appointment today, and when she inquired about vaccinations, the lady making the appointment said since your applying for a k visa you don't need to worry about vaccinations. You will have to do it when you get to the states. Is this true?

yes this is true. Because she will have to do the medical again in USA. She will get the vaccinations then. They are not required for travelling. They told my husband the same thing. Good Luck, but if you can, you may wanna get teh H1N1 vaccine against Swine Flu here in PK if you can find it. Its expensive in USA and chances are after a long flight in a closed in cabin, you may get sick. Just advice.
Good luck.

Skype is good and its free if both of you guys do Skype to Skype. Otherwise I personally use call4sale I think its like .07 a minute or so. Others might know of better services or cards.

I used to use Jaxtr.. but I dont think its a great service. In FL you can buy 5 dollar Florida talk cards and you get like 70 min to talk to Pakistan for $5. Other than that, my husband used to just buy the 100 rs phone cards here and call me on my Metro Pcs cell phone which is free incoming and outgoing calls, so he was the only one who had to pay. And it was only 100 rs for like 60-70 min.

Sorry, that would help wouldn't it? Its the question about whether you intend to pay for the beneficiaries expenses, and if so what kind of expenses and for how long.

Chose Intend to and wrote "Support my fiance financially as needed" we didn't write N/A.

Thanks! Also does anyone know how long it takes to get the medical exam results? Someone told me it takes around 3 weeks? Is that true?

yeah usually about 2 days.

Oh I also have a couple questions about the DS230, guys.

And if so, what did you guys do about the police certificate? My wife tried and they said you cannot get a police certificate unless you get the letter from the embassy. Does that have to be sent in with the DS230 packet or can we send it in later?

Do I understand this correctly: my wife can send me a filled out DS230 now (besides the signature and the date) plus all the accompanying documents so I can send them in to the NVC from the US? I searched a lot but I couldn't find what documents exactly need to be submitted with the DS-230 packet. Also did you send certified translation of the birth and marriage certificates, or the originals?

I dont know, why they are asking you to show them embassy letter. I got our without asking a single question. Please try hard and tell them that you have to proved them, talk to a Police officer and explain him. don go with these police man words.

As far as I know, Police report need to submit with DS230. When completing DS230, Just need to sign only part 1, part 2 fill out, just dont sign.

Follow the link and find Docs list.
http://travel.state..../info_3195.html

We have gotten 2 Police Certificates for USA and one for Canada over the past yr, and they never asked us for any documentation. As far as the marriage certs go, we sent the certified copies, I believe. But, I am not sure, because somehow, I have only ended up with one copy of the original Urdu Nikah Nama. So, at some point I have sent the original English and Original Urdu with one of the packets. I think I sent it to the Embassy. Now I am confused. Forgive me, its the pregnancy. Good luck and take care. Allah Hafiz.

Anybody else get caught up with the embassy closing? Our interview date was Oct 26th. We drove all through the night sunday and reached the gates of the shuttle services at 3am. We slept in the car for a couple hours before the security guard arrived and he told us that the embassy will be closed. We asked how did he know and he said that they were informed last night that it would be closed. He said go get a hotel and come back tomorrow, it will be open tomorrow definitely. But, we didn't believe him so we went to ask the police guy and he said all embassies are closed today. So, we went to go use the washroom at a shell station waited for Azan, then went back and by that time it was 5 something in the morning and there were lots of other people waiting there now. All complaining that no one got a notice or call. Some came all the way from Afghanistan, some from karachi. It was a lot for all them. Some people were crying. The shuttle security guys were telling people "just go to a hotel, rest, eat something, come back tomorrow and they will do your interviews". But when we called the embassy and asked can we reschedule for tomorrow they said that they dont have enough staff to handle the large amount of extra people who will be coming tomorrow, so no. So, we asked to reschedule but they said we have to wait til 12:30 when the visa unit opens. We called AmEx office and the girl there took our info and called the embassy for us. Then a consular officer called us back around 9:30 or so, and asked us a few questions. Zaheer told them "Please, my wife is pregnant, and its a long drive and we needa sooner date. Please" and the guy said for the next couple weeks Islamabad will be in this condition, so they gave us the date for Nov 23rd. We asked for a sooner one and they said we are the first to call them, and thats the soonest date they can give us. He said "Everyone else who had their interview for Oct 26th is getting Dec 15th or 16th dates, so we are lucky we called so early" I dont believe that though. So Zaheer asked "Are you going to send me a reschedule letter? And he said "No, just change the date on your letter from Oct 26th to Nov 23rd." Unprofessional? Well, whatever. So, now you guys know our story. What about you all? Any similar stories?

Hello Guys!

I have reached USA on Oct 17 with the blessings of God & ur best wishes.
I wanna share my POE experience with u guys.

My POE was JFK.
At JFK immigration officer asked abt envelope and i gave it to him.Unfortunately envelope was not in good shape as i got it from embassy.he asked did u open it? I said no.then he sent me to counter#2.there were so many ppl who were waiting for the completion of their immigration. There was another officer took my passport and see it and send me another room.Actually my name got hit in their data base,i have a common name. They took approx. 40mins and they cleared me.The whole process took approx 2 hours.

The immigration process at JFK was not up to the mark only few officers were dealing with so many ppl.I did not find it good at JFK.

I got my connecting flight for florida and i reached here safe & sound.

I called social security yesterday and the officer told me over the phone that i will have to come and apply for it.

Wish u very best of the luck guys! good.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports25 year age difference....Older women marrying younger men
Yeah, that's what I was thinking, about the cougars. Why is it so culturally acceptable if an American woman of a certain age marries/dates an American Man nearly half of that age? It doesn't seem fair to me. I know I am only 1 yr older than my husband, but my problem is that why does age matter? All those "Cradle Robber" comments and such. Why doesn't anyone care when older men love to ogle younger women. Women get the same sensation from younger men, right? And if you choose to be "exotically inclined" towards darker skinned men, or other nationalities, why is it suddenly all about green cards and visas? Even me being practically the same age as my hubby, my family still had comments like "Why can't you find someone from your own country?" or "He is just using you for a visa" or whatever. they felt the same way about my first husband who was 6 yrs older than me. My mom said "What does a 24 yr old man want with an 18 yr old girl?" well gee mom.... do I have to draw u a picture? Anyhow, we were married 7 yrs and had a kid together. I just have always been attracted to "exotic" men as my friends and family say. My first boyfriend was Lebanese/Egyptian, my ex was Bangladeshi and my current husband is Pakistani. I don't think age should matter no matter what because if it happened in the USA, no one would bat an eyelash anymore. But jsut cuz it takes place overseas, everyone has an opinion. They all wanna know "Why are these men looking for women online anyway?" well, cuz its culturally unacceptable in their countries to be alone or meet up with a woman or to even show outward/obvious interest in one. So, the internet is a safe way for them to get to know someone without overstepping their culture's boundaries. that's what happened to my husband. He said he always knew he didn't want to marry within his own culture because he felt that he wouldn't receive the same kind of love from an arranged marriage as he would if he found one for love. So.. i say good for you ladies for finding the man of your dreams. Anyone who says anything..... is just... plain.... JEALOUS! Ha!.. LoL. Good luck wiht your processes girls. I am still in AP.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsEveryone going through Administrative Processing in ISLAMABAD

Hi All -

Im a US citizen, got married in 2008. My husband is a Pakistani citizen and is on a temp work permit in the UK. His visa was for two years. I applied for his I-130 petition in Nov 2008, the petition was approved in Feb 2009 and his interview took place at the London Embassy on July 9th 2009. The interview went well. Since I also temporary decided to come to the Uk and live with him therefore had to quit my job, however, my I-864 was approved as I showed support from family. The consular at the embassy questioned me more than him abt my plans of working n stuff, which I explained to him he was satisfied, long story short, everything went fine. However, my husband's case required AP. We were told that its going to take 6 weeks and that after that if the embassy doesnt contact us then we should contact the embassy ourselves. After that we tried really hard to contact the london embassy but all in vain. To call the embassy costs you are fortune like £1.50 per min or so and the person on the phone doesnt provide any info whatsoever. So I started calling DOS....and now its June 2010 and his case is still in AP. Now his UK visa is about to expire, he cannot extend his visa here. He will have to go back to Pakistan if his US visa doesnt get approved by the end of AUG. I have an 8.5 month old daughter who is so attached to him. I've written to the senator and congressman but all they can tell me is that case is in AP and that we shouldnt let the case go to Pk because everything will restart again, he will be interviewed again and his AP will start from scratch. So I will end up in USA with my daughter and will be forced to raise her alone while my husband waits and we wait and wait and wait. I dont know what to do??? Im going into major depression now due to all this............I dont know what to do?????? Also, my husband still has is passport, however, we've paid $80 or courier, when we contacted the embassy abt these questions, they completely ignored us......Any advice????

I understand some of your plight. My husband was stuck in AP for 5 months. I had to return to USA and give birth to our daughter all alone. I had to raise her for 2 months by myself. But, he did finally get here. I wish you the best of luck and I pray for a speedy AP for u.

Thanks so much everyone. and Mumtaz, he got the email from the embassy on the 23rd and received the visa on the 24th. So he already has it in his hand. thanks Mumtaz. We received an email today from Embassy saying Zaheer's visa was sent thru courier yesterday. Today, he collected it frm SpeedEx office!!! He will, Insha'Allah be home by mother's day! Unfortunately, Stevie has a cold and is miserable.. but she should be well again by his arrival. Ur right though, I understand exactly how you feel. Its hard especially in this economy. I am sorry your mother is working so hard as well. My mother is also from Michigan, but moved to FL in the 70s. My dad is from Alabama and has only ever worked for Machine shops and he used to build the tools to work on Nasa's spacecraft, but they closed down his department here in FL and he had to take early retirement. Then started working at a company that makes Brain Surgery tools.. but got laid off because he kept editing the program to make it more efficient, but the engineers didnt appreciate that. We used to be a fairly upper middle class family like 12 yrs ago. Then all this happened, and now we are all struggling to get by. We live in a very wealthy town, surrounded by celebs and glamour.. but there is no way to afford cost of living. Anyhow.. I pray that things work out for you and haseeb and little Faris Ali. Zaheer and I are going to start importing Leather Goods and garments starting next month. I hope it works out on top of his job at the car dealership. take care... and be strong. Hi everyone. Just checking in to see if anyone has heard anything yet? I am hoping that Rana bhai will hear something soon. Insha'Allah. We called DOS last week, I think on Tuesday. The girl told me it was "still pending" and that "They haven't finished yet". They have never said "Haven't finished yet>" before. Perhaps they see the end in sight? When Zaheer called about 3-4 weeks ago and they told him AP was over and review was over and they were "working on it", the guy said "But I am not allowed to tell you if visa was issued or not". So, then the next time he called they said he was "Back in AP". I know they received his passport around this time, so, I am sure they are working on that because the gentleman he spoke to at the embassy said that his case "WAS finished" and now it was "back in AP". I also know that when they call you to submit the passport, they do additional processing with the passport.. thats why it has been taking people like 40-45 days to get it back once they call to submit it. So.. anyhow. Just thought i'd keep up with you guys. Good luck. and Anyone who has ventured to USA, keep in touch.. let us know whats going on.

Calling the DOS only results in being told the same thing "Pending AP". I spoke to a Joanna, or something like that the other day and she just said "They are still working on it." so I asked if it was in AP and she said as far as she could see on her computer, then yes it was in AP. I asked about any updates, and she said "I am not able to tell you when the last date the information was put in the computer." So, that was strange for me since they always tell me about the updates. So i said thanks and hung up. Zaheer called the embassy today. He was told the same thing, that he was pending AP. The guy said "You call every 2-3 days." and he said "Yes, because I want to know whats happening." and he said "Well, it's still the same thing. Still pending AP." so he said "But, my case was finished, so why did I get put back in AP? Whats wrong with my case?" and he said "Nothing is wrong with it, sir. Sometimes, the visa officer just decides he is unable to issue the visa at that time and it needs more processing." He asked "Well, we have been in AP for 5 months now.. is it going to take so long this time?" and he said "I cannot tell you that, sir." so. Anyhow. I dont know what to think. I am worried about it because if they dont finish by August, my I-130 will expire too. And I wont be able to go back and file for that if the K3 is taking too long. So I dunno what to do. Anyone got any suggestions??

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsEveryone going through Administrative Processing in ISLAMABAD
Ok.. now I am really REALLY confused. Anyone.. please help us. Zaheer called the embassy again today and this time the guy told hiim Administrative Processing again. So he said "Sir, I am sorry, but I think you are mistaken. My AP is over and so is my final review. They told me so last week." and the guy said "Yes, sir, you are right, it WAS over. We received your documents, your AP was finished, and so was the review. But then you were placed BACK in Administrative Processing." and he said "How is this possible?" and the man said "It happens sir, it is completely normal. Once your AP is finished, they review the documents and case and decide if the applicant deserves the visa or not, if not, they put them back in AP. It happens, sir. That's all I can tell you." So this is how it went. Now what do we do? How can we be back in AP? How long is it going to take? We have already been in AP for like 144 days! I just want him to come home. Anyone have any suggestions or ideas of what to expect? Please help us. Please please, I am beggin you to pray for us. Its not just me needing him anymore. Its me and Stevie. My dad is unemployed, and I can't go back to work yet because Stevie is too little and after the surgery I can't do anything for 6 weeks. My mother is the only one working to support this whole family. Yes I have food stamps and whatnot... but, I don't want to have to go back to Pakistan with the newborn, travelling, exposing her to a new environment.. etc. But, its the only way he can take care of me and for me not to be a continuing burden on my family. I miss him too much. I can't stay without him. Please please pray for us. Thank you and take care.

ABENITEZ: It is trying, trust me. there are times that just thinking about him not being here already makes me cry so much. I came home from the hospital on Saturday and felt that I was recovering well enough to be at home even though they said I could stay another day. But, by sunday I was in so much pain from the C-Section and then along with the pain, I was crying to hard because I just want him here with me. I miss him so much, especially at night when I used to be able to feel him next to me while I was sleeping. Now, I sleep all alone and its hard to fall asleep without him. Stevie sleeps in her bassinet, but knowing she is there is helpful. I manage taking care of her because I have my parents here. I am at their house right now until Zaheer comes. they have been really helpful and my father is home during the day to help me with her. So after I wake up, change her diaper, feed her, she is awake enough to visit with grandpa while I can eat breakfast and wash some bottles and the pump. It gives me enough time to do things like laundry, showering, etc. Not to mention having a bouncy seat and a swing really helps to entertain her. But, she is a newborn, she eats, then sleeps almost right away. Sometimes she is awake for like an hour or so afterwards, but not very fussy, so she is content to just sit in her boppy or bouncer and listen to music or the sounds from TV. It gives me a chance to relax a little while she is within reach. Zaheer gets to see her daily over Skype and I update him with photos all the time. It is hard not having him here because he wants to be here to help me with feeding her, and he says he wants to help my sore back by massaging it (cuz he read that is what postpartem women need). He has read so many parenting books and newsletters trying to be a good daddy. I know he will be completely ready for her when he gets here.
As far as affording it goes, I dont know what state you live in, but I am in Florida. Because I have no income of my own, and my mother is the only one in the house working, I qualify for Full-Coverage Medicaid. So does Stevie. And on top of that we have WIC and Food Stamps. It has been very helpful. I would contact your department of children and families right away and find out what you can do. Here in Florida we have a coalition called Healthy Mothers Healhty Babies, and I signed up for all this through them. It has been very helpful. Another thing to do is a lot of grocery stores or supermarkets have Baby Clubs where you can sign up and receive discounts and deals from them for baby products and pregnancy stuff. My advice, sign up for any coupons or offers involving baby gear/formula/diapers... etc. No matter where it comes from, Huggies, Pampers.. etc. good luck and keep praying for us. I hope it will all be over soon. Insha'Allah.

PATRICIA: Don't worry, I am constantly praying for Rana bhai. Insha'Allah he will be ok. It is normal for him to be dizzy because of the blood clot. As far as the fever goes, it may be a reaction to the medication they are giving him. it is hard to recover comfortably, especially in Multan where it is very hot especially in the loadshedding. I hope the hospital has a generator. Just keep us posted on how he is recovering. We are praying for him. Take care, and give him our regards.

FEISAL BHAI: thank you so much for the kind words. Having people comfort our worries makes it a little easier to get on day by day. We keep getting confusing people at the embassy. he called them again last night, March 25th for you guys, it was night for me. Everytime we talk to them, they always tell us something different. this guy told him still in AP. So he told him the situation and he said "Yeah.. its still like that. whatever they told you last time, thats what it is. Good bye" and hung up. So.. we get no help. I hope they will be able to tell us something soon. Please pray for us. I need him here with me and Stevie. Take care and enjoy USA. Allah Hafiz.

K-3 Spousal Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsCan I cont with CR1 if K3 pending AP?
We have been waiting almost 7 weeks now for AP at Islamabad Embassy. Sometimes they give us good news like "Insha'Allah it will be clear after EId" (which has passed). They have told us it has been transferred from Dept of State to Embassy. They have said it was transferred from Non Immigrant unit to Immigrant Unit. But still.. nothing. Whenever we call now.. its always.. Admin Processing. So, I read someone's post that their K3 was pending AP for 4 weeks and then they had an interview for CR1 and got the visa in 2 weeks from that interview. So, should I go ahead and finish his CR1 paperwork and get it moving? Or should I just keep up with the K3? Some people in Islamabad have been in AP for 5 months or more. One girl with a K3 even got denied because the during AP someone made the mistake of thinking she was still married to her ex. SO the returned the case to USCIS. I dont want this to happen. We are about to have a baby. I have been in Pakistan for a year now.. since they havent called I am gonna have to go home before it is too late for me to fly.. but I dont want my husband to miss the birth of our child. And I dont want to go through it all alone. So, what do you all recommend? Please, any advice. Also, for those of you who received the letter from NVC asking whether you intended to Adjust status or whatever, did you reply yet? We haven't. Its been like 2 months since we got that letter, but didn't want to mail it from Pakistan since its so expensive just to reply yes or no. So I planned on sending in from USA. What do you guys think?

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)I want to come home!!
I agree about going to another country as well. Being married to a US Citizen though should have some benefits on it for him, instwad of just him applying to go to another country. My husband and I have considered this because we are waiting for his visa and it is taking them a long time to get us out of AP. So we decided if, God Forbid, they dont give us his visa, we will try to go abroad elsewhere. Yes it is difficult, but it is possible. Dont give up hope. I was married to a guy from Bangladesh who came to USA when he was 18 on a student visa. He never went to school, and when his visa expired he overstayed by 6 yrs. INS never came looking for him, but he had a drivers license, and he worked for his brother and cousin under the table. Then we got married and I went to file for his adjustment with him and the guy at INS told us that since he overstayed for so long, there was a possibility he would get deported for 10 yrs. That never happened, and now he is a citizen. But, I wish you the best of luck. I just returned from living in Pakistan for the last 16 months or so. I just came back cuz I am pregnant and after being hospitalized in Sialkot a few times, I wasnt about to have my baby there since I have to have a c-section. I wish you luck and take care.
