They don't want to know the gory details of the entire divorce of who gets what, etc. Plus, I have been told the more papers you send, the longer it may take because every paper has to be looked over. You also say you 'mailed' the case that day - you need to allow a few days for it to get there. You can't email the service center. Once your check has cleared, your bank might be able to tell you if there is a number on the back of the check. That number should be your case number and you can go to USCIS.gov, create an account profile and enter the case number. Then you will be able to see if you are 'touched' which essentially means somebody has handled your file. Otherwise, your NOA1 will have the case number on it and you can then go to USCIS.gov, follow the same steps, and track your case status. Your NOA1 does tell you about USCIS.gov.
