Indeed :) Finally this tedious, stressful and expensive process is over. It feels really good!

To the rest who are still waiting, just hang in there. Good things happen to those who wait. I just wish all embassies would treat everyone nicely.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsBest birthday gift for both of us :)
Last week was my fiance's birthday and next week will be mine. I just had my interview today at the Tokyo Embassy and my visa is approved :) It's indeed the best birthday gift for me and my fiance. :joy:

The CO who interviewed me was a young Japanese guy. I didn't see any expression on his face but I could tell that he wasn't mean. The interview was very smooth and easy. After asking me some questions he just said "Okay that's all I need, your visa is approved". To my surprise I asked him in return if he wants to look at my fiance's tax transcripts. But he said he didn't need to :o

To be honest I was a bit disappointed that he didn't even check any of the evidence that I prepared. I printed 5 sample emails for each month (February-November), all emails from my fiance's mom, email logs from 2007 to present, Facebook screenshots, Skype call logs and screenshots, and 50 pictures   Oh well better than not preparing anything and then end up needing it.

Thank you everyone for providing all those helpful information here in VJ. Special thanks to vanesky and tokyobelle, you guys are awesome

You can use the program SkypeLogView to generate your call logs. Here's the link to it SkypeLogView.

It's pretty easy to use, you can choose to just list the incoming and outgoing calls. Select all the entries you want and generate a HTML report.

I hope that is the case. This is weird seeing all of these 20 day or less approvals. I know I did not wait as long as some but sheesh.

Some people got there petitions approved really fast, they are lucky. But just hold on, we got our NOA2 127 days after NOA1.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFilipino filing through Tokyo Embassy
Good day everyone. VJ has been a great help to us when we started filing for I-129F, thank you for the awesome guides and tips. I just joined recently mainly because I didn't know that there's a forum too =/

My fiance just received our NOA2 the other day. We were all happy and excited but we don't know what to do next. Should we just wait for the embassy to send me the next packet or should my fiance start calling NVC? Also, are there any Filipinoes here who tried filing through Tokyo embassy? I have checked the embassy's site for the documents that I need to gather but got a bit confused with police certificate. Do I need both NBI clearance and the police certificate from the municipal police station?

Thank you!

Alrighty :) maybe I just worry too much.

Should we start calling NVC or just wait? I can't go through a medical examination until I have a case number. Can't request a police certificate too until I receive the letter from the embassy :(

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F Question #10
Hi everyone. Our petition has been approved, my fiance got the hard copy of NOA2 last Wednesday. Today while going through our files we found out we left a blank unanswered, question number 10. My fiance got his citizenship through birth in the US but he forgot to fill out the blank that ask for the certificate number and the date and place it was issued.

It is something we should worry about?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNVC has not recieved noa2 from USCIS

Everyone on July 25th I got the NOA2 approval letter for the K1 Fiance Visa, and it stated the petition was sent directly to the US Consulate.

I called USCIS to inquire whether the case was sent to NVC or not... they had informed me to contact the US Consulate per the letter of approval. I followed up with the NVC customer service, and was informed "Not all cases come thru NVC... IF the case was sent to the NVC office, the letter would indicate it otherwise it states "Case sent to US Consulate".... I have been in constant touch with the US Consulate, emailed them the approval letter... I am waiting for some confirmation of the case arrival in their office....

I am wondering what happened to your petition. My NOA2 also stated that mine was being forwarded to the listed consulate.

Hello VJers :)

So it's almost 2 weeks since our K-1 petition has been approved and we thought it's time to contact NVC. But while getting the information from NOA2 we noticed something, It didn't say anything about NVC @_@. I attached the letter we had from USCIS. What does it mean?

This immigration processes are driving me insane :crying:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIS THIS NORMAL NOA2 READING??

HAVE RECEIVED NOA2 AND INSTEAD OF MENTIONING THE NVC AT ALL NOR GIVING A CONSULATE TYED NUMBER IT GIVES ME(THE BENEFICIARY) A NEW NUMBER AND THE WORDING READS '"The above petition has been approved, and forwarded to the listed consulate. Please contact the consulate with any questions about visa issuance..." We're a bit a confused because we thought there were meant to be more steps taken with the NVC who claim not to have our case when we give them the numbers. This is a London to use....does this seem normal...would NVC ever be passed over? Or is thing generic wording we all hear on NOA2s .....very confused.....was execting a pack and so on.

Mine stated the same. But yeah your approved petition will still go through NVC, that's what fellow VJers told me.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDS156

I would like clarification on this answer please. "36, if the answer is no then NO."
Technically, the US Citizen Fiancee has to fill out the I-129F to petition for the alien fiancee to be able to apply for the K1 Visa if the I-129F is approved.

So, shouldn't the answer be a YES, and put the US Citizen Petitioner's/fiancee name?

PS - the examples on VJ are not always clear (or could even have mistakes) as everyone's situation is different. So it is confusing at times. But thankfully there is VJ and all the great people on here for advice.

Thank you

I haven't filled out D-156 yet but I assumed that the answer to #36 is NO. K-1 visa is under non-immigrant visa category.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiance did not get visa b/c of insufficient evidence

Wait, hold on. You know your fiancee since 2007 and you've only seen each other once? So in 5 years you've only been together once?
If this is correct, you better start baking cupcakes and selling them because this is veeeeeery hard to ovecome. You can have a a U-Haul worth of emails and chat logs and that won't be enough. I hate to say. So, please correct me if I'm wrong. I don't think your case is hopeless, but its starting to look like you will have to build a library of documents to prove you have a bonafide relationship. Here's my thought, if you met each other within a year, don't say you know each other since 2007. I think that hurts more than helps.
Any other opinions?

I guess if you hear our story you won't advice me that. I would love to tell you but it's kind of mean to take over this thread :(

To 4clife: I am sorry for raising my questions in your thread :(

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiance did not get visa b/c of insufficient evidence

You can still visit. I visited twice after the petition approval and before the interview plus went to the intervciew and provided evidence of all the visits. Did you think evidence gathering ends when you get the petition approval?

Flying from Vermont to Ukraine ain't exactly cheap. I assure you that any expenses you have now are not even a down payment for what you will have with a foreign fiancee arriving here and unable to work for 4-6 months. Good luck if you have trouble with a plane ticket.

This is the main reason why we are trying to save as much as we can.

I understand the financial burden this seems like.. Did you and your fiance think this through completely? It may be important enough to each of you that you prepare yourself ahead of time for the requirements of obtaining the VISA..

At this point, you should make sure you're both there for the Interview, at least several days in advance of the interview to gather more evidense.. It seems this may or may not help, but it will be better than arriving at the Interview with no new evidense of an on-going relationship...

Are you saying that the evidence of on-going relationship is only limited to how often the couple see each other in person?

Thank you for the concern, really appreciate it. But we just can't go that route. As of now I wanna stay positive and hope for the best :)

Buy a plane ticket

Already got our NOA2 and the reason why we only met once was our financial status. Flying from Japan to Oklahoma is expensive, my fiance and I are poor lol. I can provide emails from 2007 up to present though, skype call logs and snapshots, facebook screenshots.

What else can we provide?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiance did not get visa b/c of insufficient evidence

Nope. Listen, seeing someone once within 2 years is the requirement for a NOA 2, that is, that the USC eligible to receive this privilege. Then, its time for you to build a case that proves the beneficiary is eligible for visa approval. That's where people get caught. Visiting a fiancee, or even spouse, once a year is hard to overcome. You have a lot of explaining to do. There are many reasons, outside of finances, that this can happen: family members sick, the fiancee sick, etc. So, it is not reason for denial alone, but it is a huge red flag. In fact, often times in embassies as picky as Jamaica, Ecuador, Morocco and Egypt, they will deny you. I've been to Egypt twice this year and returuning for my fiancee's interview. This is goal for us: to love each other and be married and start a family. Its not a game of fate. Pray for God to bless us all, but we all have to do our parts.
Granted, not everyone may be able to do this. My co-worker has an Australian fiancee and she's been there 4 times and he's been here 5 times within this year. That doesn't mean they will be approved either. I pray they do, however. The point is that it is all in the circumstances.

Thank you for explaining. Now I wonder if my case is hopeless

To the OP: Hope your situation can still be helped, hang in there!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 visa interview question

I am a Sept 2011 filer for I-129F and awaiting for NOA-2 which I'm hoping should be sometime in Jan/Feb.
My fiancee is from S. Korea. I understand every consulate is different when it comes in scheduling the visa interview - I hear some give you a date and some you can schedule a date. Is this correct?

She recently visited me this month and was hoping to visit again sometime in March to arrange some things for our upcoming wedding. If she receives notification that she should be coming in for an interview at a near date, can my fiancee leave her country to visit me for a week or two as long as it's before her interview? (S. Korea doesn't require a visa for tourists under 90 days).

Will this affect the interview/status of the application at all?

Thank you!

If your fiancee will have her interview in Seoul Embassy she will have to schedule her appointment online. Here's a guide on how it's done in Seoul: http://seoul.usembas...sas_fiance.html

We filed, and it was received today, however being sat in Toronto right now for my flight I've just noticed my passport is due to expire in December 2012. I'm the UK beneficiary.

It'll need to be renewed but will this cause a problem at all for us since there are some copies of my entry stamp visa in the old passport?

I don't think it will cause any problem. I renewed my passport a week after my fiance submitted our petition. Just keep your old passport with you.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHelp: K1 for Japanese permanent resident fiancee with Chinese passport

Can anyone please help?

My situation is a bit unique. Fiancee graduated from college from US and had to return to Japan as her visa expired. It was my fault for not propose earlier, we missed each other dearly, I honestly can not imagine not being around her. I proposed to her during my visit 2 weeks ago and she said yes. Now we just need to go though the steps of bringing her back home to US.

-------Now onto the unique situation we are facing------------------------------------

My Fiancee is Chinese that grew up in Japan and she lived in Japan for over 10 years with Japanese green card. However, she never did got naturalized even though the process would had been easy (I guess her family didn't felt the need).

Now how do we go with K1 process. Do we deal with US Consulate In Japan or US Consulate in China? She got virtually no ties in China. Instead of a straight forward process, this is becoming a nightmare before the process even starts.

I am a permanent resident of Japan too and processed my K-1 there. She can have her interview done in Japan or China, whichever is more comfortable for her. If she currently lives in Japan, I suggest you deal with Tokyo embassy.

Over one month NOA2 approved and NVC say "we don't have any record about your case"
What now? I'm almost losing my mind over this, somebody give ideias please.

Try calling the embassy. Check this link (http://japan.usembassy.gov/e/visa/tvisa-contact.html) for the embassy's contact information.

Try to contact consulate or USCIS. Sometimes case may bypass the NVC stage and go directly to consulate.

This is not true, all approved petitions go through NVC.
