Hehe, no, I have not had my interview date yet. They have to receive my Packet 3 first! I'm hoping they won't take more than a month to get back to me - interview will probably be August now.

5 weeks will go very fast!
And don't worry, you can tell us whenever you feel angry and resentful, if it makes you feel better.

Thanks Cecile! luv.gif I love this thread. I hope Blake's doing okay, by the way. If you see this, Blake, we're thinking of you!

Morning all! 5 weeks is gonna fly by Rachel! Do you have your interview yet or is that what happens after packet 3? I am so confused at this point but doesn't matter since I am still waiting for our NOA2... :/ yeah I am salty haahha!

Getting so upset seeing all these filers that filed after us get approved stupid system that is SO NOT chronological! Wish they would not even say that they do it that way but I still would be upset I am sure haha....timeline on here says before the 4th of July so here'shoping and praying!!!!

Happy Monday all!

Oh and Ken good job on your video!

Jeroen answered your question very well so I don't need to add anything there, but *hugs* I am sorry they're screwing you around like this. sad.gif

Also I'm feeling unnaturally angry today. I'm really looking forward to moving.

Problems with your roommate and her boyfriend? When are you moving out exactly?

Yes. Well, they're not problems as such; I'm not mistreated or anything like that, in fact they cooked me a lovely dinner yesterday, so I can't complain in that regard. I'm just not happy living there, but because I find it hard to say so I build up all this resentment and then I find it bubbling over at work (and you guys get to hear about it, sorry!).

I'm hoping to move out end of next month, so five weeks now. Not too much longer!

I have a few questions:
1. Will they give back my original records? like birth certificate, vaccination record, medical examination
2. What is the major thing they look at for issuing K1
3. Sould I tell them exact date I am goin to travel?
4. I read that for AOS I can use the same medical record and vaccination record. So is there any specific thing I must do to get those copies?

Please provide your suggestions

Thank you

Raghu K R

You sound like you're ready! I can't see anything missing from that list. Be sure that the engagement photos don't look too much like a wedding ceremony, by the way; that's the only potential problem I can think of.

To answer your questions:

1. Here at the London embassy they ask you to bring originals *and* a photocopy. I believe they look at your originals and then keep the photocopy for their own records. It might be the same for your embassy, so if I were you I'd take a photocopy of everything too.
2. Like Cecile says, it varies by embassy. Have you been here to read the reviews from India? Most of the reviews are positive but a couple aren't, and there was one couple who were denied for having photos of a non-legal ceremony.
3. They may ask you if you have any wedding plans, or when you plan to fly out, otherwise it doesn't seem like something you'd tell them.
4. No idea, sorry! I'm hearing so many different things about the medical for AOS. I'd love to know the answer myself.

Ken - that looks fun! biggrin.gif

Packet 3 was sent out yesterday, and Alex also sent out the affidavit support yesterday. Mail between San Jose and Sheffield is usually pretty quick so I'm hoping to receive it before the week is out. Also I'm feeling unnaturally angry today. I'm really looking forward to moving.

Have everything! Well, I still don't have the affidavit of support but Alex will post that tomorrow, so I'll send off Packet 3 anyway.

Received police certificate - it's the only professional looking piece of paper I have! laughing.gif It's in colour, has my photo on it, is on thick paper, and, *gasp*, has been signed by a real live human being in pen. laughing.gif

Alex's dad has the letter from his bank and will be getting it notarised this week. Police certificate cheque was cashed, so they received my application; I hope to receive that this week. No interview date yet - I can't send back Packet 3 just yet. sad.gif Still waiting on my police certificate and on Alex's dad's affidavit of support (the bank letter, specifically).

I only had to have the MMR (had that a fortnight ago), the TDaP and HPV, so I'm all done now. smile.gif The HPV is actually a six month course of three injections, but I will only have time to get two before I move. AOS only requires you to have had the first one, but I may as well have all I can.

Nearly there now, though! My next big worry is how to move all of my possessions - how did Gareth move his? Or didn't he have that many?

Also: kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif Some cheerleaders for a NoA2 for you!

EDIT: The super-lovely nurse who gave me my vaccinations said she'd have the record ready to collect at reception by the end of the week. So I'll take that to the London medical to wave in their face to prove I don't require any more injections.

Welcome to Cheryl!

Courtney - hurrah for your interview! I guess we had better start an official interview list soon!

boohbah - Registering your child's birth at US embassy. Your child (congratulations, by the way!) should (provided your fiancé meet the criteria) be eligible for US citizenship, and should also be able to hold a US passport, thus there is no need for your child to go through immigration. smile.gif

Good Monday morning, all - I hope that this week brings many more approvals. smile.gif I just had my last vaccinations. The HPV not only took all of my remaining money for this month but also stung and caused a little bleeding! crying.gif Typical! The TDaP and MMR were completely painless, by the way - couldn't even feel them going in.

Raghu - I wouldn't worry too much, you sound well prepared. I'm sure I've read topics with the same question as yours before and from what I remember it's more important that your name is spelled correctly, and that they probably won't even glance at your mother's. I'd think the notarised document would be all you need. Good luck!

Blake - wow, I am sorry to hear you haven't been able to share your good news with Olga yet! It must be immensely frustrating. I hope that, as you say, she will be able to have an interview very soon after receiving the news, though! Makes me realise just how much I take having the internet at home/work for granted.

sunny - so sorry to hear your news. sad.gif Hopefully the security check won't last more than a couple of weeks, and I too doubt it is anything to do with Gareth's failed entry into the US. Hopefully it's something as simple as just doing a little extra research into all the places you lived, and that it'll be over soon.

Morning Heather! How're you doing?
Alex & RachelFemaleEngland2008-06-12 10:16:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJanuary Filers at the CSC - How are you doing?
I think I'll still probably wait until after marriage to get my SSN, despite what trouble everyone seems to have had! It's just that I'm getting married only a month after entry and I'm also hoping that, being in a big city, I'll have less hassle at the office.

Packing boxes arrived today so I'll be packing this afternoon! I also dropped in my tax form to my aunt so she and my dad can pay me for the work I've been doing for them. wink.gif

I'm mostly concerned about wedding plans and finances at the moment. All of the money I've saved up from my job these past two months won't fully cover Alex's credit cards, and of the $500 we have spare each month $266 is eaten up immediately by bills, leaving less than $250 for gas and food. wacko.gif Argh, I don't mean to rant, but Alex doesn't even have all the AOS money yet, which is really bothering me. I should've booked my flight for December...

Congratulations on getting married, dbears! Your photos are beautiful and that cake looks yummy indeed! Mm!

Sorry to hear of all the problems you guys are having getting your SSNs. I think I'll be following Cecile's advice and taking a lot of paperwork with me to show that I'm valid when I go and get mine!

I hope Blake is okay.

I'm just organising shipping this week. It's costing £350 to ship all of my belongings (12 boxes), which I didn't think was too bad at all! I also bought a new, big, purple suitcase to take with me to the US. smile.gif

Man oh man 2 more sleeps! Haha I am gonna be a mess tomorrow I reckon with excitement!

I told Gareth we will plan a trip to the UK in 2010. I really want to make it a priority we got back every other year to visit family and friends there....most likely tax return will cover this every other year haha. He seemed super pleased about it as I know he is getting sad leaving his family and friends and only life he has ever known!

Are any of you thinking of when you will get chances to visit "home" ?

2010 for me, too. Although it is my grandparents' 60th wedding anniversary next summer, so if by some miracle I had my greencard by then, had time off whatever job I hopefully have, and have the air fare I'd try to be back for that. My parents and two of my siblings should be able to visit me next winter on their way back from New Zealand (they're planning a three-month-long holiday there with a view to emigrating themselves) so I imagine I'd then spend Christmas 2010 in England with them. Like Cecile says, I don't want to go back too soon, either.

Hey guys!!!

OMG just some more days and Gally and I we will fly finally to Chicago!

Tomorrow I'll cut my internet and cellphone. Wednesday at the morning the movers come, at the afternoon i'll give my key back to my landlord and at the evening Gally and I we will sleep at a hotel to the airport.
Then, Thursday morning we have our flight!!!

I'm excited, stressed etc!

In our case we got 2 brown sealed envelopes, one for me one for Gally.

Thank you Cecile for your sweet comment smile.gif

Sunny, for us travelling back to France will be often and asap 'cause Gally has to visit her dad.

So, we will ask to expedite our AP 'cause I got a court order about Gally's visits to her dad. I hope it will work fine.

Hugs and kisses to you all

Congratulations! So close now - you must be so excited!

Good luck with expediting your AP. I can only imagine what a hassle transatlantic custody settlements must be.

Rachel, nice invitations! What did you use to make them?

Thank you for the compliments, guys!

Cecile - I used my dad's laser printer to print them, then a nice, sharp scalpel, not scissors, to cut all of the paper and the holes for the ribbon - it makes a much cleaner edge! I wanted a fairly simple design that wouldn't take long to make - and I made all forty invitations in one evening, so I succeeded there. The blue paper was glued using spray mount, and not ordinary glue, for a smoother finish.

The invitations are more of a creamy colour than they appear to be in the photo. And I originally wanted a lighter blue ribbon that matched the colour of the writing, but unfortunately the craft shop ran out of that so I had to settle for the darker blue.

Jeroen - I've had a look at your blog and I love your photos! And what amazing weather you had! Everything looks so crisp and clean. I really love Michelle's dress - it's beautiful (as is she!).

Cecile - sorry to hear of all the problems you're having! The amount they ask us to do is just mind-boggling. I'm glad to hear you're enjoying life - the worst thing must be if one is bored or lonely after the marriage.

I spoke to my dad after writing my last post and as he has forked out over £3,000 on plane tickets for my family to fly out there at Christmas he said he was jolly well expecting to see us get married for that price. wink.gif Which is what I'd expected he'd say, and is fair enough! Blake, I shall cross my fingers and hope that you encounter no further problems in your visa journey. Here's to a safe entry and lovely wedding!

Hello after another long protracted absence. smile.gif

Blake is going to be able to say 'I told you so' now. tongue.gif I was just speaking to my mother and she has finally come around to the idea of Alex and me having a small courtroom wedding as soon as possible; if only she'd said so earlier! I am very tempted to cancel my ticket and book an earlier flight. I'd lose money on the ticket but save money on the wedding. Anyway, I have yet to speak to my father, so we shall see.

Alex is finding it very hard what with me having limited internet access and not having seen my face or heard my voice in such a long while.

Sunny, hurrah! I hope an interview date comes for you very soon!

Last week was extremely limited web access week for me - I still had no internet at home and I had to train my replacement at work all week (she's lovely) so I was only able to access the web at work in the five minutes before she arrived each morning.

Back in Worthing now and have web access again. good.gif Of course, I've been back 12 hours and I've already had to clean up cat poop from the carpet, act as a mediator in an argument between my mother, sister and littlest brother, and share a room with all of my sister's belongings (there's nowhere to unpack my suitcase!). Still, just 66 days until I leave. smile.gif

Ever since I bought my plane ticket the distance has become harder to deal with. sad.gif

I'd been okay up until now, really.

This week has been horrible so far. I miss Alex as much as I did after I'd left in January (of course the distance always sucks, but it's a little more painful when you've just left someone - I'm sure you can all empathise). I thought it'd be easier once I'd booked my plane ticket, but it's not. I think it's because I know it's so close.

Ooh, I've seen autumnal themed weddings (oranges/dark reds/greens/browns) and they've always looked fabulous!

I had a svelte, petite, olive-skinned Asian doctor - she's not the South African, is she? I thought there were only two doctors, one male and one female! She gave me a rather thorough breast exam. wink.gif

I've had both a brilliant weekend and a bad weekend.

On Saturday I was feeling very lonely. I came in to work to do some overtime - completely voluntarily! - because I was bored and missing Alex so much. Where was Alex this weekend? At a convention in Seattle. More specifically, at the Penny Arcade Expo.

Penny Arcade is the site we met on, and whose forums we are both active members of. We are friends with many of the other forumers.

So while I was all alone, Alex was meeting with over 80 members of the forums, at least 30-40 of whom I have been wanting to meet for several years now! Not to mention a few other forumers I have met before and had a fantastic time with. I was getting periodic text updates from Alex and it was making me all the more envious! By late Saturday I was really feeling quite low indeed.

However, yesterday was a brilliant day - one of the best days I've had in a very long while. My friends gave me my belated birthday presents, and as they know that I didn't want anything material (I already have far too much to ship over to the US) my present from one friend was 3 hours in a spa, my present from another was having my nails done, and my present from a third was having my lunch paid for! So four of us spent all morning undergoing the spa experience here and then we ate lunch and, in the evening, played around with tubes of henna, giving each other temporary tattoos. So much fun!

I love the photos - and your dress! You look gorgeous!

Bryan's grandmother looks fantastic, too - amazing skin. smile.gif (Sorry - couldn't help observing!)

Hawkeye28 - completely agree with you there! The sunshine in California is a big, big draw for me. Alex originally wanted to move to Washington but I must admit I wasn't liking the idea of a climate so similar to the UK - he might as well have moved here!

Cecile - woo! The first of us regular CSC peeps to be married! biggrin.gif I bet it does feel very strange...I'm sure I'll find it odd, despite day-to-day life not changing.
