Sorry for the double post - I'm surprised nobody else has written yet! Anyway, I heard again from Andy and his medical is scheduled for 1/19. Little later than I thought, but it could be worse. I got an email response finally from NVC:

So I guess he'll get the packet 3 any time now.

In other news, Cham, I heard from a friend it snowed a FOOT where I live! Egad, the roads coming home this weekend will probably still be a mess. I guess we're not getting a milder winter this time, huh?

Merry Christmas everyone!

As for this DHL tracking stuff, they are showing that a bunch of packages were mailed off today, only one of which is from the UK. It says "diplomatic papers" and weighs 5 lbs. Does this sound about right?

Do you mean sent to the uk?
Have a look see if its going to Lambeth, thats were all the mail is pre-screened good.gif

Ah, yes. I meant to the UK. I don't see any mention of Lambeth yet. Oh well! We weren't expecting them to actually have it before New Year's anyhow.

They should have it tomorrow but will take a few days to show up on their system, call the extortion line next Monday and you should have an update.
My pk 3 was sent out quite quickly after they received the file just took 5 days to get here with all the Xmas post clogging the mail system......

Hi all

Gratz on noa2s to whom got theirs!!! WOOT!

We had 12 inches fall on us last night and more coming! On Christmas day we are suppose to have a miniumum of 10 inches!!!!!! They said it would be *blizzard like conditions EEK* I have to drive my sister to work tomorrow again on my day off because she has never driven in snow like this! I told her how lucky she was LOL

I have lived here for about 12 almost 13 years now and I have never seen it get like this...we got 10 inches all winter but not 2 weeks worth of snow...I slid through a stop sign because a policeman slide into the embankment...went to avoid him and could not stop or slow down...as it was I was going 15 miles an hour lol I am okay he is okay and he got out and asked if I was okay..did not ask me for insurance...nada...PROBABLY because he thought I would sue him lol...

ANYWAY I have to get up soon to take her to work so heading back to bed ya all!

STAY SAFE!!!!!!!!!

Oy, you guys usually are spared the snow down the hill. I drove up to Spokane on Saturday and the road conditions were pretty bad on 195. I held up a lot of traffic because I wouldn't drive like a nut. When some people finally could pass me, one person had made a sign and stuck it up to their passenger window that said "Shitty driver!" laughing.gif They were describing themselves! Sunday morning there was another fresh 4 inches of snow on the car when I got up to go to the airport. I'm so glad I didn't drive in the middle of the night!

How much more has it snowed up the hill? I'm wondering what horrid road conditions I'm coming back to on Friday night (will decide whether I stay overnight in Spokane again). It's supposed to be 70 here in Houston today. tongue.gif It's bittersweet being here with my family, as it's harder because I don't get to talk to Andy on the webcam. Apparently he scheduled his medical, but he neglected to tell me the date in his email. Bah! So I'm waiting on the email reply for that info. I ended up mailing the docs to him but sent them express mail so there's tracking. Should take 5 days, and I won't rest well until I know he has them in hand. I'm so tired of stuff getting lost in the mail. His christmas cards he mailed never made it to my family or me.

Hey Aubrey, before you freak out about the I-134, you may want to look at this.

http://www.uscis.gov...00048f3d6a1RCRD

It says "Edition Date: 10/30/2008. Prior versions are also acceptable."

Thanks for the heads up, too. I didn't realize they'd finally updated it.

Oh awesome! I didn't know that it didn't need to be notarized anymore. I'm waiting to receive my employment verification from my employer and then I'll send it off to France. I've read that if your income exceeds the poverty guidelines then you don't need to add additional info (bank acct statements, 401k statements, investments etc.) but doesn't the gov't want all this info? If its asks for it on the form, isn't it required? I just don't want to omit something now and then include it later for AOS and get in some type of trouble. Paranoid. thoughts?

ROFL!!!!! I JUST had this NOTERIZED damn it!! LOL...SO should I toss that one and do the one they WANT us to do NOW???

Sigh LOL

Just submit the one you filled out. It'll be fine. No need for extra work... making copies of everything is enough work. I think it's stupid they ask for everything in duplicate. I'm off to FedEx tomorrow, and I STILL haven't gotten to pack or clean up before I leave. Ahhhhhhhk!

I asked the same question on here, and in threads I created, a few times because I get really paranoid too. Everyone always says you don't need to fill out anything else. I may email the embassy or something and ask just to be safe, though.

Some of the resident "experts" around VJ have cautioned against providing extra information on this form because they can request additional information on any of it that you fill in (an example I've read, if you provide your mortgage info they can request an estimate on your house). Tons of people have gone through with no problems with leaving blanks, so it seems more risky to provide unnecessary information.

Yeah, well I just tried calling them and it said they're closed, call back during normal hours... uh, it's 5EST, they're supposed to be open till midnight. #######? They haven't responded to my email which I sent 2 days ago, either. Bleh.

I got my father's co-sponsor paperwork in the mail, and I was excited I could FedEx it to Andy... but I double-checked it and found out that I screwed up. My mother filled out the form and made a mistake, and I told her not to use white-out so I'd just email her another form to print. Well I sent her the form I'd downloaded in July... which has expired! So now we're delayed until I get back from the holidays because I need them to sign the thing again on the updated form. I'm ticked because I've triple-checked everything except that stupid attachment I emailed her... ugh.

But it explains why the banker looked at me funny when I asked her to notarize the I-134 and there was no space for it. The most recent (October 08) form no longer requires it to be notarized, and says so right in the instructions. I, of course, had only read the expired form's instructions. No harm no foul there, but at least I understand why there was no space now!

And holy smokes, so much snow. I'm leaving a day early for the airport because it snowed 2 feet there yesterday and the day prior. Everything in Spokane is basically stuff shut down, and I definitely don't want to drive these snowy, icy roads at 3:30am like I originally planned for Sunday morning. Now I'm rushing to clean, do laundry, pack, etc to leave by tomorrow afternoon!

Talked some more to Andy, and he's made some calls to family about jobs. His aunt (who he's worked for before) said she'll look into it and call him back in a few days. It would involve a move ~300km east for a few months, but it would be a JOB, which would be a gigantic weight off of my little shoulders. Cross your fingers, pray, do a dance, meditate, or whatever for us - we really need him to work!

I'm so glad everything's moving along to the embassy for most people here. I'm looking forward to the day everyone's posting their wedding pictures! The 6 month mark is not far off for the rest of you still waiting, so I hope you've looked up your senator/congressman's contact information!

Chelle i am so sorry to read what happened to you today. You cant go this far with him giving up on you i am sure he must be blowing off some steam. You are in my prayers.

I do have another question, my lawyer said i need a joint sponser if i dont have enough income on my 2007 tax return. I do not have enough income on there because i only worked at my new job since August in 2007 but i do make well over the 17,500 dollars. Cant i just show my pay stub with a letter from my employer saying i do make sufficient income which is very true and i can comfirm that on my pay stub? I do have a joint sponser who is my sister but i only want to use her in worst case senario. What should i do?

What I've understood is that you only need to presently meet the requirement. I would add a letter explaining what you just did to us, and possible add your assets. You shouldn't need a cosponsor.

As far as we know, the NVC still hasn't received our case. Sebastian has filled out the packet 3 forms, just for practice really, but we may take a hint for Shannon and Nick and send them anyways if they take too long! We're still looking at another two weeks or so, but still!

Also, do we have to mail in packet 3 when the time comes? Or could Sebastian just drop it off at the Embassy? He lives in London so I think it would be fairly convenient. I don't want to have to deal with the UK postal service (so many mishaps!).

Good luck to everyone who is still waiting! Not long, guys!

And Chelle, be sure to let us know what your son says. I'm wishing you all the best!

No, he can't go to the embassy. It's for US citizens (it's like you're entering the united states when you go there), and he needs special permission to enter (like his interview letter). You'll have to mail it, and you can't do that until they have your case for sure.

I am broken

The long-distance thing is very difficult, and I do hope that somehow you two can work through this. Best wishes to you.

yeah ive never seen packet 3 or 4 mentioned on an us embassy website. i think its VJ language. i looked at russia's VJ page and it doesn't list packet 3 or 4. refer to the Russia forum? or i guess you can wait to see what they send you. i say check out the russia forum beforehand so you know what to expect.

btw, i got my NVC notice letter today smile.gif it's dated 12/15 but i called on monday and they told me that my i129f was sent to France on 12/12, last friday.

Yep, it's just VJ language. I just inundated Andy with all the forms he has to finish filling out for the interview and all the copies he needs to make. Some of it I couldn't answer for him, like stuff about his previous supervisors and military questions, or his parents' middle names. tongue.gif And the DS-156 seems to be an web-only form (not PDF like the rest)... not sure why.

I haven't gotten my NVC notice letter yet, but the weather around here is pretty bad. I'm hoping it's just slow because of that. This is what it looked like outside my window today :

Andy and I had a long talk yesterday about finances and he's pounding the pavement some more for work. Things just look too scary without him bringing some money in. We may be looking at a significant delay at his move over. It's basically a no-win situation -- one way he's here and we're stressed about money, the other way he's there and we're stressed about being apart. Really, the whole thing wouldn't be such a problem if not for the ~90 days it's taking for EAD, and I really resent that it takes so long. If they don't want the non-USC to become a public charge, why not let them work automatically on entry (instead of only if you get the lucky EAD stamp)? I feel really frustrated.

Very pretty. I'm thinking how your pictures will turn out, and your red should look quite stunning. smile.gif Have you considered using the same color for both the maid of honor and bridesmaids and differentiating them with an accent (a sash, a different bouquet color or ribbon, same color but different style dress, etc)? It might hold up better in the photos (rather than 3 colors). Sorry, I just had to... that's the designer in me talking. tongue.gif The dresses themselves are very nice.

Ohh Aubrey, I didnt even think of pictures. The silver would look bad wouldnt it. Umm I am trying to think of how I can change the black dress somehow to make it look different for the maid of honor.. any ideas???? I dont know how I would use a sash as the dress is made differently. I would like something red on it of course but not sure how to go about it. I can get the silver one in black also and it is a little different from the other two... what do you think of that? any ideassss will be appreciated. I am in a rut right now so need to keep busy. I will be having red and white roses in my bouquet. I was going to have real ones but now am thinking it would be fun to make my own and that way they will last forever and would give me more to do to stay busy LOL. any ideas on the bouquets would be helpful to. I feel like this is my first wedding when its actually my 3rd eeeks did I just admit that to you all haha. well they say 3rd time is a charm so lets hope wink.gif...Thanks for the tip , cause like I said I never even thought of photos... Chelle

I think if you're really set on the 3 colors, then I'd use the same style dress and add a sash or wrap to both dresses (black sash on silver dress, silver sash on black dress), but obviously a sash doesn't work with those particular dresses since they already have bows. The silver is pretty light, so it might wash out someone if they're very fair, but otherwise the color in itself isn't a problem. The trick is going to be to make them look like they're all coordinated by something so they look like a bridal party (instead of guests or something). David's Bridal does a great job showing how you can mix and match things but still pull that off - maybe it'll help to browse their pictures.

The cool thing about using a wrap is with your colors (black or silver) it would be reusable by the ladies when they dress up again.

I just got done talking to Keith and he still hasnt recieved the packet 3, It was mailed from london on the 4th of December. He should have gotten by now.. Even if a little turtle was delivering it , he would have had it by now. He tried to call the embassy last night, he tried 7 times and each time it would take him through all the commands and then say all lines are busy and disconnect him. He figures that cost him at least 10 to 15 quid.. Needless to say he wasnt a happy camper. So I told him to give up for now and wait until today but still not here. So he will try calling on Monday to see if they can resend it or something..

Right now he is saying why cant things go smoothly,, He is really missing me , hehe I like that wink.gif Plus he is emptying out the flat and moving in with his parents until the visa comes through to work to pay them back the money he owes them plus to save to come home on. I have offered to pay for his ticket but he is so damn stubborn and wont except any money from me. Sooo What I will do when the time comes in just pay for it and then tell him about it after lol.. Xmas is coming and his birthday is in febuary and valentines day and our wedding so I will make it a gift.. haha he cant refuse a gift

anyways , what do you think about this packet 3, do you think it is lost, stuck in a truck somewhere, mailman took it thinking it was something important like money LOL .. which is what keith thinks and if it doesnt come soon do you think they will send another one?

Chelle

Chelle, what do you need from pk 3 ? I have it all scanned in on my pooter, get the documents ready and send em in, dont wait !!!

Darkraven- I havent got my pack 3 yet but am gonna send all the paperwork in anyway and they can match it up, gonna be proactive now as I have a objective !!! whistling.gif whistling.gif

I didnt know we could send them in without recieving that packet in the mail. I dont have any yet so I guess I need them all LOL.

I've read a lot of people just e-mail the embassy with success. Have you tried/considered that?

I was told that you have to have a code to email the embassy and in order to get the code you have to call them? Have you heard this? or is that for something else?

Doesn't the NVC letter give you your new case number? I'm not sure you necessarily need that though to email the embassy (I haven't read that).

I still haven't received my NOA2 in the mail, but seeing how Aubrey only got hers today and she is much closer to Cali than I am, I am not too worried about it.

Cham, I think when our SOs get here really depends on the country they are coming from. I'm really hoping for second half of February in my case, but not really sure if it's going to happen or not. Unfortunately, embassy in Moscow will be closed for more than 2 weeks because of American + Russian holidays, but there is nothing I can do abut it... Been checking interview schedule on their site. So far they are up to Feb 2nd, which is not too bad, but I don't know how many cases they schedule for interview with each update, so that might change quickly...

Hope everybody has a decent weekend.

Oh thank you for spelling my name correctly. <3

All we're doing for showing our continued relationship is the follow-up letter of intent from me, some pictures of his last visit, and the couple cards I mailed him. I think that's plenty at a low-fraud embassy, judging from the embassy reviews on VJ.

Hang in there, those of you not approved yet. We're still thinking of you.

Hey my friends,
I'm tryin' to move my butt instead of thinking about my RFE. So I began to fill the packet3 paper. I have a question... On the DS-230 they ask for your school and diplomas. Do I have to put the US equivalent of my diploma like Bachelor or the french one ? Another question. When they ask for school and location, do I have to just put the name of my school and the city ? Or the entire adress with the country ?

Thanks
And hope to see tons of approvals today !!!!!!!

On mine I put the UK version ie GSCE, A level etc etc and I just put the school name, town and country. good.gif

I did the same on mine.

I will eventually need to get qualifications put into US equivalent ready for doing a resume...hope they don't look pants when switched unsure.gif

You shouldn't write any U.S.-equivalents on these forms, as technically we're not qualified to do so. For employment purposes, they typically require an agency generate these for you, such as http://www.edperspective.org (you know me, reading everything on VJ). For location on your forms, it's probably sufficient to put the name, city and country.

As to the question of the I-134, I agree -- you can fill it out and notarize it now. It won't expire any time soon. I'm waiting till next week just because I'm too busy to go and get the bank statement, which is where I have to get the notarization anyway.

Finally got my NOA2 hard copy in the mail today. Went right into my fire-safe box since we need it for AOS. Looking forward to the next letter from NVC, whenever it comes.

Juliette - sorry about the RFE, but I'm glad they looked at your case. It shouldn't delay you long, as they're usually quick about turning around NOA2 after they get your additional papers.

Thought I'd let everyone that Andy thought his job interview went well, and he should get a call at the end of the week as to whether he gets it or not. I'm bummed out about it though, because apparently it is not an IT tech position like we thought and just some stupid electronics sales job. I'm not sure I want him to take it even if it's offered, but he wouldn't have much choice. I don't think that sort of job is worth keeping us apart any extra length of time, though, so it won't really help with the financial situation like I'd hoped.

So I bid and bought Andy's ring off ebay. I'm nervous, as I don't usually buy things off there... but he wanted a two-tone gold ring and we couldn't otherwise afford it. $51 with shipping for a gold ring seems like a good deal. Let's hope it is!

I haven't bothered to call about our case yet. I'll give it a couple more days. I don't like being on the phone. tongue.gif I'm busy trying to finish up 3 projects before next week. Ugh... I'm almost done illustrating the book project, at least. Maybe a couple of the daffodils will brighten the day of those still waiting on NOA2.

hi all, I am looking for opinions here... We are getting married on Feb. 21st , I want to wear a red short dress, not a gown.. I also want to wear boots with it.. Now my reason for this is , red signifies something special to me.. The song , lady in red is the song that my father chose to leave to me when he passed away. I still cry 20 years later when I hear that song but its ok , so I feel this is my special time and the red dress would be great plus its in febuary and close to valentines day. Also I have lost alot of weight over the last couple of years and I think I am ready LOL to show off some leg plus keith likes that idea hehe. AS for the boots, Keith loves women in boots. I have never worn them because I always had problems walking in heels with my extra weight . anyways.. I was telling some friends my idea and they responded with ... that is stupid, its your wedding and you will look strange dressed in a red dress with boots getting married sad.gif . Keith would love it and as I said before the red dress means something to me soo what do you guys think. I consider you all my family as you all understand what we are going through. Would you wear the red dress and boots? I wont go hooker look lol , just a pretty red dress ... Please give me your opinions.. Thanks
CHelle

Oh, don't listen to them at ALL! I highly suggest joining the Offbeat Bride Tribe. It's an online forum for women (and some men!) who want to break away from traditional weddings. There's an entire group dedicated to red dress brides and some of them are absolutely breathtaking! Go, join, get some inspiration, and wear your gorgeous red dress!

And OH MY GOD, CHAM!!!!!!!! SOOOOO happy for you! smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif

Red is actually more common than you think for weddings -- I've seen plenty of folks on VJ post pics of the bride wearing red. It's tradition in some countries, too. Your friends need to be smacked upside the head for not being supportive!

As for the boots, I'm not sure what kind you mean exactly, but I'm sure you can pull off a great ensemble. A family friend of mine wore cowboy boots with her pretty traditional wedding dress, and nobody thought anything odd about it.

Dillards has some great choices for dresses and gowns. Here's a couple pretty ones:

And look at these gorgeous boots I found on overstock (drool):

Wee, that was fun. smile.gif Anyway, it's YOUR wedding, so wear what brings you joy. And then post pictures for us to see! biggrin.gif

Hey everyone! Congrats to all the new approvals it is awesome!!!

I have a question...We got our approval on November 5th and Johny still has not recieved his packet 3 yet....anyone have any idea of how long it takes...I think i am going to call the NVC this coming week, I just have not had time to even think let alone make phone calls between work and school and trying to get immigration things finished up....

This is too long...You should definitely call NVC and see where your file is and whether they sent it out or not.
Might be they sent it and your consulate is not the fastest...
Or might also be that they are doing additional background checks. Ask them in particular about this as they won't tell you if you don't ask!!
Good luck!

Oh someone here mentioned 4 months is a reasonable time to wait for the best thing in life.
Sure I agree. But what about 6 months and longer? I don't think this is reasonable anymore especially if people have a past that is as clean as it could possibly be...It screws over our plans and, honestly, we are already considering moving to Germany together. Who on earth today can afford living in limbo like that forever? If I would have known it would take us so long, I could have taken a much better job. Instead I am doing ####### work while waiting for this fu*** approval which lowers my motivation for life in general. I am ready for this to be over.

What a bulls***. Here we would just get married, register him as my husband and that would be it! Weird, hm?

I don't even wanna think about how escadia here thinks. She is stuck at USCIS for over a year without any news.

Congrats to everyone who got approved! Please have sympathy for the ones venting here (like me)! devil.gif

Yeah, I totally agree with you. My SO and I looked at the same things. It's ridiculous how hard it is just to bring your fiancé here. I could enter Germany on the VWP, marry, and become a PR in a matter of days. The catch for me is... well, I don't speak German. So that ruled that out! The economy seems like in worse of the crapper than in the US too now... don't quit your job, because my SO has been looking for months and can't find ANYTHING. Not even a ####### job like McDonald's has had openings!

Andy's IT tech interview is tomorrow. I'll be sure to let everyone know how it goes! It would help so much if he could work for awhile before moving over.

As for the approval, I figured I'd wait till Friday or next week before calling NVC to see when they get our petition and whether it's passed along. I'm still waiting on my 2nd round of tax transcripts (since I goofed the first time and got the wrong years), and Andy is STILL waiting on his police certificate... it's been a month now. It's about time we got those ducks in a row, I'd say.

And on a completely unrelated note, Spry and XML are my new arch enemies. Grrr. Web coding is soooo not my cup of tea! dead.gif

Come on USCIS, let's approve the rest of my VJ July family! ClockWatch2.gif

You need to call NVC to see if it's left there yet. Sometimes things can get help up with background/name checks, etc there. If it's left there, then you can contact your embassy to find out if the packet reached them yet. The NVC line is 603-334-0700. From what I've read, you have to talk to a person in order to find out the case status for K1 - the stuff I've read says that they don't put K1's in the automated system.

Then he checked tonight (USA time) and we couldn't believe they sent approval. Weird because it is time-stamped at exact time as Aubrey said - 7:30pm EXACTLY. Everyone, keep your chin up! Think of the NOA2 as the best 'legal' Christmas present ever wink.gif

Things seem to be going from bad to worse with my situation...any day now we should be receiving the NOA2, and a month ago that should've made me the happiest person on Earth, but since my fiancé said he wanted to postpone the wedding (until Nov 2010), we've been in bits about what to do regarding our petition. I guess our only choice is to withdraw and resubmit a new petition for Mar 2010 - but we're so worried about getting rejected in case they see us withdrawing our petition as reason to deny us a visa! We called the USCIS (who were as helpful as a chocolate teapot) who didn't know what to do, so they said arrange an appointment with our local USCIS office, so my fiancé visited them, who in turn didn't know what to do and just gave him a sheet of useless phone numbers! Please - can any of you advise us? headbonk.gif

This is unlikely to be what you want to hear, but maybe something you need to hear. A fiancé asking for another 2 years to get married sounds like more than cold feet. It sounds to me like this guy really doesn't want to get married at all, and is too afraid or too selfish to end the relationship. Do you really want to put your life on hold for 2 more years with a long-distance relationship? I hate to think of someone else living like my friend Olivia on here - she spent 21 days with her husband and hasn't seen him in 2 YEARS! Your guy isn't suggesting you find another way to be together - he's suggesting to not be together at all for that period of time. If that hasn't bothered you yet, I think maybe it should.

I had to live this nightmare myself with my now ex-husband. I waited around for 5 years before he finally proposed, and then sat around another 2 before we got married. And finally after the end of it all (it lasted less than a year!), I realize he never wanted the relationship to begin with, just the friendship and conveniences it came with. It was just easier to stay together than go through the emotional trauma... until I got fed up with it all. I look back and think of how much time I waited around for that guy (calling it loyalty innocent.gif) , and how sad it was I couldn't find the strength to go on my own sooner.

This whole immigration thing is traumatic, and if you decide to stay the course, you will need to withdraw your petition. It won't effect your case, and many couples on here have posted that they've done the same thing you're suggesting. Of course, you'll have to pay the filing fee again (ouch).

I'm not trying to rain on your parade... I just hate to see someone else throw away years of their life on someone that isn't willing to commit. rose.gif

Don't forget that if you're using assets to qualify, divide what they're worth by 5. They also must be generally liquid - like cash savings, stocks, bonds, etc. I'm not sure jewelry would qualify at all, but seeing the value it wouldn't help you meet the number much anyways.

Sorry for the sour news on that.

If you think you're close, you can always submit what you have and hope it flies at the interview. The worst that can happen is they tell you you don't have enough for now, and they give you a timeline of when to meet it.

I know you'll get this to work one way or another, Cham. We're all here for you!

I did a search, and maybe this post about SSI helps you. I found another post that relates to SSI from death benefits of a spouse, if that is more appropriate.

Try not to be too hard on your son. I've read the affidavit paperwork, and it all sounds terrifying to someone to sign. I wouldn't blame anyone for being hesitant to sign it. I fully understand why my father flipped out about it, and I'm just lucky that begging and pleading and negotiating worked. People can say terrible things when they're afraid.

You guys make me feel like a wimp! I've seen Andy 4 months out of this year over 3 trips, and still the stress of the long distance has gotten to me. I get impatient with him, get babblely, and work up all sorts of crazy scenarios in my head about how things should go... tongue.gif It's so hard staying up late to talk, not seeing him every morning, and overall not feeling "normal" like other couples.

I just want our approval so I can at least begin to know when he might be with me again. At least with a date it'd give some relief from my constant worry. Right now I keep wondering if somehow he could get here in January before my semester starts and get married then, or else we have to wait until March. Thinking about another 3-4 months apart hurts.

I hope we all see approvals starting tomorrow. Best wishes to all of us, both who're still waiting and those working towards their interviews.
