IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresGetting Married
in Phils, if we are married, we have to change our last name to our husband. It will also show in my renewed passport that i have my new last name which is my husbands. It really depends on the country you are from.

what about a revoked passport? do we need to submit that? my husband's passport was revoked due to some debt in his child support. Will that be a problem to the USCIS if they see that my husband's passport was revoked? We are worried that it might decline or delay the process...

passport is only a proof that my husband is a US Citizen, right? Why not just submit his birth certificate?

what i mean is, my credit card is HSBC. here in the Phils, we have to call them for inquiry and if ever they need documents, all we need to do is to fax it to them.

anyways, you send alot of evidences. thats soo cool! The reason why i keep on asking about this and that is bcoz my fellow FIlipinas who have their experience didnt told me to send photos together or other evidences with the I-I30. WHY? because usually they bring their photos at the day of the interview.

But since u gave me this idea, i wanna send something that is excessive too but wont hurt hehe. thanks so much sir. GOD bless po

hmm.. ok, my husband sends money thru western union since we were dating until now. I think i will send a photocopy of that as a proof of our marriage. I will try to call HSBC tomorrow and ask if they can allow my husband to be a supplementary. The thing about this process, it will take a week for the process if they will allow my husband to be the supplementary.

second, he just told me that his insurance wont allow to add me as beneficiary. i dunno what kind of insurance is that.. i think its an Indian Tribe insurance since he is American-Indian.. the heck, i dont care about that benefits. lol

thanks sir for this infos...

he has no credit card but i do have... the thing is, i am going to submit this II30 and other documents to my husband this week.. i have no time to call the HSBC for me to make my husband as a supplementary.

i'm about to give up on this #### visa journey. if only i could live here in phils i would love to.. but i need to be with my husband.

Can he get a duplicate credit card in your name? That's what we did. And my husband has my name on his lease saying I can stay, so we sent that in too.

what im going to do is to develop a picture tmorw morning.. our wedding pics..

Well, we sent ALL we could to establish our relationship...marriage certs, a third-party affidavit attesting to our marriage, tons of pics...my husband had just added me to his bank account and to his insurance so maybe you could do that instead of opening a joint account here. We had tried that too and we could not....not to mention the outrageous amt of USD he would have to bring with him.

Apparently, the truckload of pics from his past 3 visits helped...USCIS must'v had a good laugh.

You deserve to be together. don't let a bank account be a roadblock for you.

Good luck!!!!

so we can ADD our wedding PHOTO including the I-I30 form and other documents? Philippines is really damn strict of these stuffs!

QUOTE (Ling Ling @ Sep 25 2008, 04:19 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Our petition was approved without a joint bank account.
I understand PI is different, and more strict about having proof that a marriage is legitimate.
I think that at the petition stage, if you can just send in your marriage certificate and maybe some pictures (of the two of you) in different places, you should be fine.
A single picture with family can sometimes speak louder than $1000 in a joint bank account.
Before your interview, it might be good if you had a joint account in the US, or if your husband added you to his health insurance, car insurance, etc.
You should send in your I-130 package as SOON as you have everything together. Don't let the lack of a joint account slow you you down.

Good luck

...the journey continues.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNot allowed to open JOINT ACCOUNT in Phils.
Im really pissed off. Last July, i asked this lady at China Bank Ortigas if i can open a joint account. She told me i can as long as my husband will fill up the 3 pieces Specimen Signature Bank card, a consent letter from my husband and at least 2 valid ID's. She gave me this 3 cards and i send it to my husband and telling him to send me his 2 valid id and a consent letter that he allows me to open a joint account.

AFTER 3 weeks of damn waiting of those documents... i got it today the documents and when i inquire to another China Bank about opening the joint account. The lady told me that my husband should be here personally and also me and my husband needs to fill up the agreement form and notarize it. I was really really mad coz she added that i need to submit my husband's ALIEN REGISTRATION CARD since he is US Citizen.

DAMN! I almost yell at her! After 3 weeks of waiting, if i only knew this... I should have send the I-I30 form, G325A and other documents to my husband on the first week of September to start filing.

Is it ok if we do not have a joint account? We are just going to submit the marriage certificate, his birth certifcate and the forms.
Is this ok or are we going to receive any RFE?

Please calm me coz im about to cancel this filing! mad.gif

The US government has decided to outsource all the work of USCIS to China.
US is melting down due to the credit crunch. Banks are no longer giving lones to other banks.
The reveres happened at USCIS. The sister VSC was falling behing because some bad lones it gave to H1B (outsourcing agaents) and forgot to take care of it's own babies (CR1/IR1/K-3,K-1).
VSC start melting and asked brother CSC to take care of the babies. But by that time the bad loan virus was transfered to CSC and made it sick. Now both brother and sister need help which mother (DOS) can not provide. The father (USG) has no money to take care of the family and decided to call the healthy bank (China) for help.

All the processing of I-130 will be done in Shanghai from now on.

I guess you just have to talk to the right person. I did not have any problem. But I have read that some people did.

I just called and asked the person for my IIN number, and they gave it to me. Maybe try asking by it's name, Invoice Identification Number.

I'm glad I don't live in Cal anymore. But you get used to the earthquakes.

If your paperwork is at the NVC and they have generated a NVC case number, then there is an IIN number assigned to it. Try talking to someone else. Sometimes they don't want to give the IIN number for some reason. So I would just try again.

Yes, you can call now. Just call them and give the case number from CSC, they will tell you the NVC number, then you have to ask them for the IIN number. Then you can go to the website to see whn they invoice the AOS.

I will not be attending this one because My wife has her K3 interview on August 14th. And because the NVC has finally set my CR1 interview, they will be sending our file to the embassy. And it should make it there well before the K3 interview and it will be changed to the CR1 interview.

So anybody whose case is complete, you can start calling the NVC today to get your interview date. kicking.gif kicking.gif

From the instructions:

Copies. If these instructions state that a copy of a document may be filed with this petition, submit a copy. If you choose to send the original, USCIS may keep that original for our records. If USCIS requires the original, it will be requested.

Nowhere does it say certified or notarized copies.

How about:

9. Copy of beneficiary’s birth certificate and passport is it required?

I do not believe with the I-130 it is required .... If I am not mistaken, the original will be requested by NVC however.

Oh and how about:
10. Copies of affidavits sworn to or affirmed by third parties having personal knowledge of the bona fides of our marriage
Does anyone have a template for this?

That is not required. Just put in the Marriage certificate, emails, pictures etc. to prove the marriage. I didn't use any affidavids and was just fine.

We are now at the NVC and I am working on our forms. On the I-864 it asks for her A# Alien Number. Where can I find this number? I was told it would be on the back of the negotiated check from the I-130. I have a copy of the back of this check, but there are mutliple numbers on it.

How many numbers are in the Alien number? Where would it be on the back of the check. There is also a stamp of some sort that has AOS marked on it, would it happen to be this number?

wacko.gif

You do not recieve the alien number until you get your visa. Until then you put none on any paperwork that asks for it.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNot much difference between US citizen and permanent resident
Since we are on this topic, the rumor is all the people who are on H1B visa can bring thier wife as soon as they get married. They dont have to wait while most of us have this painful waiting period. Lot of relative from my wife's family brought there spouses like that. I do understand they all are non-immigrant visa but who cares as long as they are together and she doesnt mind sitting at home without able to work and neither do I. But I dont have any other argument to tell her being US citizen I have any advantage over H1B visa holder in terms of bringing our spouses.

I hope they can pass a law where a spouse can be given a non-immigrant visa right away and than do all the rest paperwork in this country. There will be arguments about the possible fraud stuff but government still have checks such as giving a CR visas and AOS etc. They could still deport if they find something wrong in normal cases so why cant they apply the same thing for by issuing an quick visa for spouses and have these checks in places.

Another thing of shame: My wife and I got married within the same week her brother got married with British citizen. She applied visa for him after getting back to UK and he got the visa in 2 weeks. And I am considering these 2 countries have about the same privaleges by living there in terms of standard of life. So its not like here people get extra advantage by getting visa for USA compare to UK.

Please dont take these arguments as not loving USA and please dont tell me to move out because I have seen this response in some chauvinistic people on this forum, I am just venting as any other person which I have the right to do as a citizen.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVisa help needed
Just like many of us, I am waiting for the holy grail of USCIS or NOA2. In my case I have a way that I can see my wife every weekend if she gets canadian visitor visa. She has a brother who is currently working in Vancouver BC and I live in Portland OR. So if she gets there I can drive 5 hrs every weekend to see her.

I take K3 out of picture since it can be issued in the country where marriage took place which is India. So the question is once she gets the NOA2 for I130 approved,

1) can we able to do CR1 process at US consulate in Canada where she would be visiting? If this is not possible we always have the backup plan to have her go back to India where our K3 and CR1 visa will be processing.

2)Also would we need the Police report of living in Canada for our K3 and CR1 visa?

3) if this all be possible that she comes to Canada, would she be able to cross border legally for a weekend visit to me?

4) If she does cross border somehow (legally of course), will this become a problem for her immigration to USA on K3 or CR1?

I will appreciate responses. Thanks
