you don't have to schedule a medical exam. but it is first come, first served. the fee for the medical exam has to be paid in pesos. i am not sure how much it is now but you should call saint lukes to be sure. good luck and God bless!

Hi, what else i need to bring except the leter from USEM?like pictures etc....

My husband brought the confirmation letter what he printed out from his email account, the letter that states his MNL case number, four 2x2 pictures of him, the payment for the medical exam in Philippine pesos, and a black ballpoint pen. God bless!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresStamp after POE with IR1
Hi. Congratulations and welcome to the United States. kicking.gif My husband entered on an IR-1 visa a couple of months ago. Don't worry about anything. He got his SS card and 10 year green card in the mail all within 3 weeks after his arrival here. Once you get your green card you can travel in and out of the United States but not for a long period of time. Keep in mind that you have to maintain residency here because when you apply for citizenship, they will ask you how many times and how long were you out of the united states within a certain period of time.

Relax and have fun. Good luck job hunting! God bless you! star_smile.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresBringing Cellfone to USEM interview?
Hey girl. You're husband can't bring his cell phone with him. There are people standing outside the embassy to hold his cell phone for him for a fee (last i heard it was 200 pesos). Probably at other embassies they will let you bring cell phones. But at the USEM, they won't allow it. But they do let US citizens bring their cell phones. I was able to bring mine in a couple of months ago. Chat with you soon girl!

DCF is a whole different ball game. Much better if the petitioner is with the bene with normal petitions.
You NEVER see a petitione regretting they attended the interview.
See LOTs that regret they didn't tho.

Yeah I know it is a different ballgame. But i was just sharing my story. My sister and brother-in-law filed for a CR-1 visa but not through DCF. She didn't go with him to the interview and the consulate said the same thing. Like I said, it really depends on the situation.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresEmbassy interview
Hello. What visa type are you applying for? Well I've heard of couples where the USC came with the beneficiary and others where it was only the beneficiary. Here's our story: We filed via Direct Consular FIling (DCF), so our process for the IR-1 visa was 6 months. About 3 weeks before my husband's interview I flew back to the United States because an immigration officer that dealt with our case specifically advised me that the point of a visa is to reunite families. And the fact that I was planning to be there during the interview could jeopardize my husband's chance of getting the visa. Then during the interview my husband was asked by the consular officer, "where is your wife right now?". Then he said in Seattle. She asked for proof and the proof he showed her was a copy of my passport and plane ticket. The consulate answered, "very good. cause if your wife was here with you, i would've denied you the visa."

So i guess it really depends on the case. Good luck and God bless!

We entered the US today with an IR-1 visa. Do they mail the green card? If so, to what address? While our case was processing at NVC, I moved. I notified NVC of my new address. USCIS still has my old address. So wondering which one they will use.

Hi. Welcome to the United States! You should be getting your 10-year GC soon in the mail. My husband entered on an IR-1 visa in December 2008 and his greencard got here in like 2-3 weeks along with his social security card. star_smile.gif Did you notice what address was on the immigrant data summary that you gave at the POE? Cause that is the address they will most likely use.

I think it is a Texas thing only... I guess over here they feel non-US citizens are more of a problem than in WA....
I see where they are coming from, but still I think they could have handled that better, starting from the VERTICAL driver license, that looks so different from the standard horizontal one!

Hi. I don't know if the process for the I-864 has changed since we last filled one up back in last year. But you don't need it to be notarized anymore. My parents were so sponsors and thier I-864A didn't need to be notarized too. Make sure the forms you are using are up to date. Good luck and God bless! star_smile.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresEvidence of a bonafide marriage
Hi! We got like 3 RFEs when we filed out I-130. I guess they wanted more evidence since we were such a young couple. This is what we submitted (but there might be more but I just can't remember): marriage certificate, affidavits from people who knew about our marital relationship, our life insurance policies with each other as the sole beneficiary, bank certifications stating when we opened our joint account together, car insurance, car registration, our wedding invitations. We filed DCF in manila. I guess it depends on who looks at documents cause the immigration officer didn't want any pictures for the I-130. She wanted more proof. Like she even asked us both to come into the embassy and we talked to her for awhile. But everything was worth it cause now me and my hubby are together here in Seattle. smile.gif

You'll be there soon too. Be strong!
Good luck and God bless! star_smile.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWHEN PETITIONER DID NOT MEET ABOVE POVERTY
Hi! i was a full time student when I had to fill out the I-864 for my husband. So that meant I had ZERO income. hehe I attached a letter to the I-864 explaining why I haven't filed taxes and didn't have any income. Along with my letter I attached my school transcripts and letters from my school that I was a student there. Good luck and God bless! star_smile.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresIR/CR1 from PHILIPPINES
Hi! Make sure you read packet 4 correctly and have everything ready for your interview. You can never bring too little of something. What we did was bring all originals to the interview even though we submitted some of them before the interview like the I-864. Make sure that all your documents are organized so that if they ask for it, you will easily be able to take it out.

AS for the NBI clearance, you will need an explanation is if states no criminal record on it. The explanation should be from the NBI office. Good luck and God bless! star_smile.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDifference between Co-Sponsor and Joint Sponsor
like they are two different things but have the same purpose. Which is to help the peitioner reach the 125% poverty line. A co-sponsor (resides in the same household as the petitioner) fills out the I-864A. A joint sponsor (doesn't reside in the same household as the petitioner) fills out another I-864. But no matte what, the petitioner still needs to fill out an I-864 whether or not he or she meets the 125% poverty requirements. God bless! star_smile.gif
