So have you gotten anything that actually said you were approved yet? Like we'd be ok waiting forever for the oath ceremony (because that's the normal for the KC office anyway), but waiting around for just the approval is driving me crazy!

strangely enough that hasn't bothered me lol! I was given the form that had the box ticked "for further review", but I passed the test and everything else was fine so I just guessed the IO ticked that box because my anniversary was the week after... HOWEVER I have read some applicants be in the same position and have the "congrats, we are recommending you for approval"!

and so I refer back to the original statement "USCIS makes no sense"!

Please let us know if you call them and what you find out. We are still waiting with no update even to show we had an interview-still the same date from when they scheduled our interview. Is it supposed to atleast update to show you had an interview? We havent called because I didn't want to get a person that just tells us to wait, but our interview was Sept 8 and Oct 4 was the 3 yr anniversary; we did however make an infopass for next week bc I thought that would be more informational...maybe?

well that was a waste of time.. didn't get to speak to a level 2 officer (however you get that?) and the woman just told me that can take up to 90 days to schedule an oath ceremony etc etc... and that I needed to wait.

I just don't understand, some of us had interviews over a month ago and have passed their anniversaries and have heard nothing and others are getting oath ceremony updates soon after their interviews, once again USCIS makes no sense!

:bonk:

and not to be negative Aminesbaby but they may just tell you the same thing at an infopass interview? If they do tell you more information please post it here because then I'm gonna arrange one too

and my status update shows the same: "your scheduled for an interview etc"

I'm gonna call the 1-800 number today and ask to speak to a level 2 officer, I have this awful feeling that my Oath date may have been decided and the letter or update just didn't happen, it's happened before with other members were they have missed their oaths because of mistakes made at USCIS...

and surely calling can't do any harm?

It is torture not knowing what's coming or when it will be coming....

I understand and completely agree boilermaker.... I don't know if I'm getting overly cautious about this but just reading other people's N400 interview experiences from other months (June in particular) and a lot of members say they had the "congrats, you are being recommended for approval" box ticked. NOW whether that means their anniversary (whether 3 or 5 yr) had already passed before the interview, I'm not sure... hahaha I'm not gonna try and work that one out would I? cause that would make me sound like I was going insane with waiting (nervous laugh)

BUT it just worries me that we haven't received a status update at least saying that we have been placed in the line for oath ceremonies, like others in this month such as converse who got their update 13 days after the interview and millic who received their update 7 days and their N400 interview... but then you have Aminesbaby that I haven't heard anything from as far as their status.....

aarrgghhhhh I'm reading way too much in to these stats. It's getting to the point where I'm going over my interview in my mind to work out if there was any problems, but I KNOW there wasn't!

I can see me having to expedite my passport at this rate because it takes a month to get it and i NEED it before the end of the year....

oh well anyone else want to "chime in" and post their comments to help keep me sane please do!

:hehe:

I wouldn't worry if I were you, there is no rhyme or reason when it comes to USCIS. You submitted your I-130 three years ago so I am going to assume that you AOS in the US from a non immigrant visa. What was your prior visa?

I agree Lili, sometimes I wonder why they even have status updates when a lot of people describe how their updates never get updated lol

still it doesn't stop me checking my online account every bloody day :crying:

I guess a more reliable method would be to check my post box but it would just be nice to KNOW something was coming...

Haha...I'm on the same boat. My 3YR LPR was last Saturday. My heart beat goes up every time I get a new email on my phone. My interview was on the 15th (almost two weeks past).

Just to clarify, did all the people who are waiting on their oath ceremony to be scheduled get the box ticked that said "for further review"???

I also looked at others in this month and worked out that it was at least a week before they got a status update via text/email after their interview, so I would hold off on the checking your status thing until next week lol, or you'll go mad like me

Depending on how close or far you are from your field office, you can do an infopass appointment. But it is up to you. You may receive the notice quickly.

god I HATE this waiting!

is anyone else waiting for their oath to be scheduled, (even just a status update), that had received a tick in the box "for further review" after their N400 interview?

maybe we should set up a separate thread just for this topic? lol

Feeling so frustrated right now, just still waiting on our approval. My husbands 3 year anniversary was up on the 4th (Interview was on Sept 8th) but haven't heard anything re an approval at all :( We thought we might get lucky and hear something on the 5th. Has anybody else had their 3 yr anniversary come up after the interview-how long did it take to get your approval? Blah, I hate waiting. Can't wait for this whole process to be over!

Any news aminesbaby? You've been waiting what seems an awfully long time to get an oath scheduled!?

Isn't it ironic that some of the most nerve wracking times for waiting is AFTER you have completed your N400 interview? I'm reading on several different groups about people having to make infopass appointments or having to speak to a second IO just to find out what has happened to their oath ceremony schedule etc.?

It makes me SO nervous because I have a flight booked out of the USA on Jan 10th and I need my passport before then. I know that probably wasn't the wisest move on my behalf but still....

I keep looking at my phone waiting for the text update to come about "your oath is line to be scheduled etc.".......... arrgggggghhhhhhhhhh

oh well, I've had five years of this, a few more weeks isn't gonna kill me :hehe:

Congratulations!!!!!

Good luck!!!

Hi everyone!

So I had my interview today...The guy was nice and professional but had an accent and was speaking so fast. The whole interview took less than 10 minutes. The funny thing is that he said that I was approved and that I will be sworn in this afternoon. I quickly told him that I thought that I couldn't as my three year anniversary is on Monday. He checked and said that I was right so I will have to wait until my anniversary comes up to receive the oath date.

I wonder what would have happened if I didn't know. Would the person issuing the CON would have realized the mistake? Or would I have been sworn in before I am legally allowed? That would have created a nightmare.

Anyway, it is done and was easy. Study the questions, make sure you know what you said on the forms and all will be well.

One more thing, come prepared with proof of marital union (if you are applying based on the three year rule). The officer was very happy that I was prepared.

Good luck to all!

Now back to the waiting with Sharky for the oath letter. However, I hope that he gets his first as today is his anniversary date. :D Go Sharky!

merci Lili, Vous êtes très gentil!

I was wondering what was happening with you, yes welcome to the wait now..... :bonk:

Really surprised that the IO didn't know that you hadn't reached your anniversary!

Bon chance!

and then after comes the waiting!! Today is my five year anniversary date from my GC, and I'm waiting on the update to say that I am in the line for oath scheduling.... god I hate this waiting lol

anyone else in the same situation? I know I need to be patient and I should hear something in the next few weeks but I'm so close I can almost smell that CON lol

Hey everybody...

My husband filed his N-400 based on 5 year residence in USA... So if the 5 year anniversary was before the interview is it likely that they will be able to make decision during the interview and give the oath ceremony date right away? :)

Had my interview also today and it wasn't exactly what I expected either...

Got called in my a thoroughly nice IO, unfortunately named Officer Orji (pronounced orgy), great I thought to myself, please don't laugh!
Anyhow he went through my N400 which seemed to be OK and did the usual ticking of things with his red pen. Then we came to the civic questions...

First one totally threw me... Believe me I know my 100 civic questions but I didn't get an easy question to start with at all. As he asked me the question about the first amendment (and I can't remember exactly what it was) I was thinking "god this guy has thought "well he's English, so let's give him some difficult ones" :P .... anyhow I answered something about being over 18 to vote which I think was kinda correct?

Anyhow the other questions were about the cold war and communism, vice president: Joe Biden (at last an easy one), 1st amendment right: speech and another bloody strange one about the colonists, think he termed it "what were the colonists looking for when they came to America?".... I mentioned about Freedom and exploration of new lands....

anyhow I thought I would get a few "what do the thirteen stripes on the flag represent" questions and I was definitely mistaken

Still Officer Orgy (snigger) was a really nice guy and I think he knew that I knew enough and passed the test. As other posters have stated here my case is for further review but just because my 5 yr anniversary is on the 12th so I guess it goes to the 2nd level IO now and then hopefully I will here about an oath ceremony being scheduled very soon...

phhewww glad that's over

just looked over the questions online again and my first question was question 48 : There are four amendments to the Constitution about who can vote. Describe one of them.

I said about being older than 18 but officer orgy wanted me to include the word "citizen over 18"

and the other one that caused a bit of confusion was question 58: What is one reason colonists came to America? I did say freedom but maybe he wanted more? lol oh well at least I was right

So I had my interview today and it was not what I expected at all.I was well prepared for Govmt. and US history but i was not that well prepared to discuss my history. I'm applying based on marriage with USC. The officer started by asking the 10 questions, then read the sentence and write it on piece of paper. Then the IO started by asking me questions regarding my relationship with my wife and details about marriage (where I live, why this, why that, when did, when that...etc). I felt like I was going through Removal of Conditions rather than Naturalization.

Then finally we went through the N-400 and some Yes/No questions. I think i was in the office for a about an hour. At the end of the interview I signed three documents: one that states that a decision could not be made but that I passed the exam (interesting enough, a check is next to a sentence that I can ask any questions by writing to the IO, all i need to do is attach a copy of that paper - I guess there is a thread going on about contacting IO after interview) ; another document stated that I presented my GC; and last document with 6 questions verifying that the info was correct (ie. I'm still married to my spouse, we are not separated and have not filed for divorce and that we live at the present address - I had to write Yes/No).

Any of you guys based on USC marriage went through something like this? or at least sign those documents i explained?

Now I'll have to wait for whatever decision. Still I'm days away from my 3 LPR anniv.

Thank you guys. Will definitely post review.

Well, as far as I know, as soon as the IO schedules you for an interview, the letter is generated and sent to you. In my case, I received the email around 2:30pm and that letter was posted and deposited same day from my Local Office. I received the letter the next day. I guess because I live in the same city as my local office. So it also depends on the USPS.

Boilermaker and loveforever, my case status was changed online to "scheduled for an interview" on the 29th of August and the interview letter was in the mailbox on the 1st of September, and also it was sent from the lockbox address, certainly not the local Seattle office. I'm sure, like everyone that deals with USCIS, there are variations in timelines for people that are even at the same local office, so it's difficult to say with any certainty how long a process will take from one stage to another...

oh and one more thing, my online status hasn't changed, so I really wouldn't take that as being very accurate...

hope that helps

I agree. The only good thing about these notifications is you have an idea on when to expect the letter in the mail. However, this case status online works for some, it doesn't for others. I relied heavily on it and so far it has never failed me. When they informed me that they mailed me something I usually get it within 4 days average.

I misunderstood some of the previous posts and thought that the yellow letter WAS the interview letter, not the pre-interview letter :bonk: lol

no idea why they would have to send an additional letter before the official one  lol

oh well, USCIS works in its own unique way!

It usually requests you bring certain items to your interview. Somtimes it has a single item such as a Driver's license and other times it can contain a few requests such as IRS transcripts, etc...

Not everyone receives it...

So all this information is updated on your online case status updates? Because if you didn't receive your interview letter, and didn't sign up for email alerts/ online updates how would you know when your interview was?

NOA: 7/19/11
FP: 8/29/11 but did EF 8/16/11

Yesterday (8/26) afternoon I received an email update that we were placed in line for interviewing.....then in the evening we got the email update that the interview has been scheduled and so we're just waiting for the interview letter to arrive.

Thanks!

The same thing happened to me this morning so I guess I'll be looking for the yellow interview letter in the post sometime soon

@boilermaker, @sharky, @lili, @love_forever..

Since all of you did EF.. in mid of August.. did any of you get a status change to inline or receive a letter for interview?

Shakil,

It seems the "online updating system" has a mind of its own to be honest, and most people agree with that on VJ :bonk:

My status changed to in line for an interview before I had my biometrics appt. (which was yesterday) so I wouldn't take your online status literally.

In my own case, I'm sure I'll get the yellow interview letter in the next few weeks. I know it's easier said than done, but I wouldn't recommend signing up for email/text/online updates because it just means you are constantly checking for changes every day, and then misinterpreting case status changes....

better to just wait for the status changes in the post... although I check the changes every day too!

Woo Hoo!! :))
On August 10, 2011, your N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION was placed in line for interview scheduling.
Hope it won't take too long :)

I got the same notice when I checked my online update status too, I suspect others may have the same..

Yes - if you happen to get an interview date prior to the mark of your 3rd or 5th year residency, then they will give you a document that states that they cannot make a decision at that time. Your status will change to RFE but once you pass that anniversary date, they should update your case and approve you then you will get your approval and oath letters...

that was precisely the point I was making in my last post

Well, I received my FP appointment letter today...much quicker than anticipated, however, they are asking me to appear on Sept 1st!...almost a month from today. Definitely will attempt E. FP sometime this week.
I wonder if naturalization process in Arizona is delayed or have way too many people applying that they have to schedule me a month later.

I'm no expert on how the people at USCIS process these applications but the whole process has to be >90 days anyway doesn't it? If it was quicker then you would be taking the oath before the official 5 year benchmark...

So even if you did go for an early walk in for the FP, your interview and oath date will still be in line with the >90 day limit..

I myself have a 12 day holiday planned in September so I am actually hoping that my interview will be late September, so I don't mind the few weeks to wait to have the biometrics..

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion10 year Green Card rules?
Dear Forum,

This may seem like a very naive question. Hopefully by the end of this year I should have my 10 year Green card after entering the US on a K1 visa and satisfying my 2 year conditional requirements. My question is once I get my 10 year green card I was planning on traveling overseas to visit friends and may be gone for some time (at least 6 months), is there a limit to how long you can spend out if the US while being a permanent resident and having a 10 year Green card?

any information would be hugely welcome

Paul

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionAffidavits for I-751
Hey guys,

Can I just confirm one thing? I'm putting together my I-751 package and unfortunately I will be filing as a divorced couple. I have two affidavits from friends stating that the marriage was entered in to in good faith etc.

Do these have to be notarized? Is it essential?

thanks

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionCan we apply earlier than 90 days before expiration of the green card?
Hey guys,

Wouldn't the only exception to the 90 day rule (and it wouldn't really apply here) is when the foreign spouse has got divorced in the 2 year conditional GC period. Then as soon as the divorce is final you can apply and that could be prior to the 90 day period.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionWill USCIS update our status online after bio ?
can I just add something guys,

I got the same "notice" online when I checked my status a few days ago, which was reassuring. However it says in the notice "we received this CRI89 PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS RECEIVED, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case" but I never received this confirmation in the post like they said.

Is that normal? I did submit a change of address a few months, and distinctly remember seeing my current address coming up on the screen in my biometrics appointment. But now I'm wondering do they have the correct address?

let me know if you guys got a notice in the post

regards

Paul
