K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsVisa approved in bogota

Jacob, first, congratulations on getting through the process!!! One question, when you were talking about not bringing Western Union Receipts, what was it in your documents that triggered them to ask for the reciepts? I have a couple Western Union receipts I sent for her last birthday and christmas, but have not done any other transfers, so just wondering why they asked for that.

Thanks and best wishes.

Jon & Clau

Jon and Clau,

I was asked for the same thing. Andrea was asked if I sent her money and she said yes. She then asked for the receipts and I had forgotten to print the xoom.com records but I had all of my bank statements showing the xoom.com transfers.

Congrats! See I told you it would soon come. Some take longer than others but now start working on that Interview date. You can set it up now or drag your feet and wait for NVC to forward your case. t all depends on when you want your interview...

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhats next?

So i got approved on the interview and i got the passport and the Visa today but i am a little confused.

For what i read, i will have this residence for 1 year (i thought it would be 2 years?)what is coming next? What should i do?

I will probably leave next week, althought i am not 100% sure on that.

Help is appreciated!

Thank you

Congrats!
Once you get your residence (a process of several months) ypu will received a conditional 2 year permanent residency. 3 months before the residency expires you have to apply to remove conditions and receive a 10 year residency.

My wife arrived in March and today we received the green card in the mail. Good Luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresfiance shipping docs from Colombia (?)
The name and phone number info is needed for the shipper to contact you and also for customs. When I was in Cali, Colombia I sent a check to be deposited to my bank account in the US via Fed Ex. The cost was about 70,000 Colombian Pesos or roughly $35.

19,000 might be a bit much... a representative amount that is reasonable should do the trick and a variety of communication helps...chat logs, emails, skype logs, phone records and good ld fashion cards sent by mail. Quality over quantity.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCan a Benefiary Apply for k1 visa Interview
It depends on the consulate tha you are applying to. For Colombia you have to pay the fees first BEFORE you can schedule the interview. They either have to be paid online or at Helm bank. So check the procedures by going to the website of the US embassy of your particular country. Procedures change so you have to look up the info on the embassy website and/or check with someone who has recently (within a month or so) gone through the process. That's my 2 cnets worth.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBIG MSTAKE!
Very unprofessional to have a peeing contest when someone is asking for advice..... My advice is WAIT. If you send something in now you risk it not reaching the file or miscommunication. There is a chance that they may overlook that the document that you sent is not a certified copy. But there's a chance they might not. Simply wait and prepare. Order a certified copy from the court. Call the court to figure out how that is done for that particular jurisdiction. Good Luck.

As a lawyer I am astounded that someone would ask for a way to violate the law on a well known immigration website... not only are you asking for some way to violate immigration law you also want to leave evidence of the crime. My advice: DON'T DO IT!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 process Screw-Ups
Monica and Wil,

As I mentioned in m message to you I think you are ok. Technically you are not supposed to do things ahead of time. But scheduling the appointment after NVC approval is not uncommon . I have even heard of some people doing it after their NOA2. The 156 and 156 K are only filled in online and printed. They are not transmitted electronically and you bring them with you on the day of your interview. So you could even fill in the 156 and 156 k right before your interview but if you are like me all those forms have already been prepared and triple checked before the date of your interview,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSkype Log - how many is too many?

I didn't submit a single skype page with my 129F application and I got approved. Now, going into the interview I am printing all 6,000 pages (double-sided) and compiling them in 5 separate 6-inch binders for my fiance to take with her. So my 100 pound fiance is taking in 50 pounds worth of supporting documentation... I LOVE IT!

That is overkill and not necessary.... a reasonable amount should do the trick

hi... i wanted to know to who should i adress the letter of intent of marry when the NoA2 is received?? is the USCIS or Embassy or whom??????

This is the first that I have heard of a second letter of intent to marry. Other than for the 129F original petition it is not a requirement in Bogota. But if you include it with your supporting evidence it can't hurt...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit stuff....

Hey guys!
So I know we have to submit our W-2 forms for the affidavit stuff, but I am curious does the embassy keep them or do they just want to see them....?

Thank you for any advice! :)

It depends on the embassy... some will merely glance at your supporting evidence others will collect portions of it. Best to submit copies.

Hi everyone this is my story, 7 years agO, I did a K1 visa with my ex boyfriend but I didn't marry him. I went back to Colombia and right now, I've been with my current boyfriend for 4 and a half years and we have an appointment on the 23rd. we are worried that they will deny the visa because this will be my second time taking out this visa.

You should be ok. You didn't marry. And they keep track of multiple K1's but 3 is the magic number that may cause you to get denied...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCOLOMBIA VISA QUESTION

VJ Family,

I have convinced mi fiancee to wait in Bogota to get the Visa more quickly and that we will leave directly from Bogota as soon as we have the Visa, but I have a question. On the website where I scheduled the interview, there is no option to pick up the Visa directly from the Embassy. Am I missing something or do I need to select a DHL office in Bogota and pick it up from there? Is there a particular Bogota DHL office that is quickest?

Thank you!

Yes, you must select a DHL office in Bogota. My advice is to pick an office that has Saturday hours just in case... Also waiting in Bogota can/may take up to two weeks. At least one VJ'er had that experience. It used to take 2 to 3 business days to get the visa in Bogota. Lately it has taken 7 to 10 days. I was lucky. Our visa came through on the 4th day, on a saturday (that;s why I said pick a DHL with Saturday hours). I picked the Plaza Las Americas location. Also if your fiancee waits in Bogota an inexpensive and comfortable hotel is Hotel Casa Paulina.

Hope this helps. If you have any questions, feel free.

Arturo

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFor all you Colombians...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFor all you Colombians...

Im saying to bring the DS230 form no matter what you read on this forum, I have read lots of reviews and known couples who brought it and the embassy didn't ask for it, so I'm saying it's safer to bring it, the embassy seems to change their minds about whether or not they want it. And on the little paper (the embassy gives you day of interview) with the order they want the papers the DS 230 is not listed, the lady at the first window asked for it. And they ended up keeping it.

What Federico says its true. The instruction that I received from the embassy said to bring the DS230 but the latest directive on the embassy website dos not include it. Andrea was never asked for it but I can bet anything that if we had not had it we would have been asked for it. I was asked by the consul for records showing the money that I have sent my fiancee. I was also asked how we communicate and we told her skype, facebook, yahoo messenger and we told her we had those proofs. She then asked for phone records. LOL! Luckily we talk on the phone using llamacolombia.com and had those records as well. I had every conceivable proof she could ask. Down to the baggage stickers of each of my 9 trips to Colombia. After 6 hours at the embassy our visa was approved. Lesson to be learned be over prepared. Odds are you won't need all the proof you bring but it is better to have extra papers than to lack one and to be denied.

Boundries anyone? Perhaps the couple knows more about their relationship status than us, you think?

I think someone suggested to bring something showing that the docs are on their way.. good suggestion smile.gif

Take care and good Luck,
Lisa

I agree Odai! Its my understanding from my lawyer, if you attend your interview & do NOT have all your papers, they will put in a paper advising you of what you need to provide for them in order to be approved. ALSO, AWESOME suggestion that you have Kristen write a letter & if possible, have it notarized & scan it or fax it to you stating that the AOS is in process & that you will receive it shortly. This way, you can show the officer that you are aware of ALL the documentation that you will be needing.

Lastly, have you completed your medical examination? Do you have your GID Police Certificate? Are all other requirements completed????

Good Luck Odai!

Hello,

I'm nearing the end (hopefully) of my CR1 (I-130) filed for my wife in Joran and was wondering how long it takes the NVC to set-up the interview date and roughly how far out is the interview date?

Has anyone out there recently been approved or interviewed by the Jordanian Consulate? Any info would be appreciated!

Thanks!!

Middle East and North AfricaIs it just the distance, or is it something more...
I too have been accused of cheating! He says the same thing, in America its very easy! Here's the thing, I just keep reassuring him & it TRULY is the distance that makes the mind crazy & gets you/them to wondering & thinking! His question for me...ALL THE TIME IS... Why me? You have MANY men in America, why me? And, I know you have other man there in America!

Truly, that is just insecurity & distance. Here is a plan! Its true, you can't REALLY know a person until you have dated them & had some time to learn about their idiosyncracies, pet peeves, etc. When he comes here, you will have 3 months to get to know each other. You don't have to rush & get married immediately! That's why you are given 90 days, to make sure that this is the lifetime decision that you want to make! You've Come SO far already, K & have invested much time & energy, not to mention MONEY into this relationship! Its normal to have fear & be scared now that the end is in sight of this long fiasco, but I say....try things out! Keep getting to know him, day by day, and really get to know him when he comes here. Cuz truly, he is sacrificing alot to be with you & to love you! As, you are for him as well!

That's my thoughts! If there's more going on that you fear is a "non-negotiable" than I would advise you to think long & hard for the next 6 weeks, before his interview!

Take care, sweetie!

Middle East and North AfricaMuslims
QUOTE (SterlingGirl @ Aug 20 2008, 06:41 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I'm neither a Muslim nor am I marrying anyone from a MENA nation, but I just thought I'd ask - female USC's with Muslim MENA beneficiaries, what prompted you personally to convert to Islam? Was it truly a decision you made prior to meeting your mate, or was it to ensure that your mate would be marrying a Muslim woman, or was it because the faith truly appealed to you? And if the latter, what was it about the faith that convinced you to adopt it?

This is totally not a sarcastic or rude question, but one of genuine curiosity.

Great question! I am marrying a muslim man, but I am a Christian of the Baptist denomination. He explains to me about his faith & beliefs, and I share with him as well. It seems a "personal" choice & decision that one makes to change/accept another religion. Just like, spirituality is in any religion!

Just thought I'd share!

USCIS Service CentersTexas Service Centre

Also, I think there's an explanation of why so many people on VJ put TSC as their Service Center. On the editing timeline page, this is written:

"Service Center:
List ORIGINAL filing location; even if
petition transferred
for K-1 Applicants where you filed your I-129F
for K-3, IR-1, and CR-1 Applicants where your
I-130 was processed (if filed at the Chicago Lockbox
they will transfer the petition to the correct Service
Center and mail you a notice stating where it was sent)"

While it's well explained for K-3, CR-1/IR-1, it is very confusing for K-1. I think it should be written "for K-1 Applicants where your I-129F was processed (if filed at the Texas Lockbox they will transfer the petition to the correct Service
Center (California or Vermont) and mail you a notice stating where it was sent)".
Maybe in the past, people sent directly their petition to CSC/VSC/TSC/NSC?

Thanks I'll change my TSC to CSC..
